Pros Cloud technology is key for big companies which requires huge computational effort but not always. Virtual desktop is key for avoiding lots of work station computers at company and enable every body to use shared work stations. CITRIX provides solution to this challenge. The ability to access your "desktop" anywhere anytime is great but very slow. Cons It is slow, the interface needs some work and it could be more intuitive. Pros I like using Citrix because I can access all of the software and data from work on any computer, laptop or mobile device. Almost any software can be configured to work with Citrix. Cons The software is sometimes buggy and I often run into problems using it. For example, all of the Citrix screens will disappear after a while, even if I am still logged in to the connection. Also, there are sometimes issues when working with two monitors. And the final con is that it is slower than using installed software and the speed seems to vary with depending on other unknown factors. Review Source Michael B. I don't feel Citrix is developing this much, but it does run well once it is all set up. We use it for a training environment, and it is easy to have a web portal to access the vm's. Pros Once set up, it runs solid. Management of vm's is fairly easy, and the portal to access them is easy to use. Cons Extremely difficult setup, also difficult to add new machines to the machine catalog. Documentation is not the greatest. VDI is the future :) Pros It performs amazingly even with poor and unstable connections. We use both RDP and Citrix and the later performs way better. The ICA protocol used by Citrix is much better and secure. Port redirection work so much better now than in previous versions and works with almost any usb device. RDP port redirection is more basic (mouse, keyboard, usb storage and certain com ports). Cons It is harder to setup than Terminal Server.
