Pros Sharepoint is very quick to access, well-structured, and efficient. We can easily share files with team members, filter the documents to root, and upload new files or folders where needed. Cons The only feature I dislike in Microsoft SharePoint is its filtering feature. It is kind of complicated and needs a better UX component. Review Source DW Daniel W. It streamlines everyone’s workflows and allows smooth collaboration between team members. It creates a space for enterprise document storage and communication. Pros In my opinion, Microsoft Sharepoint is one of the ways Microsoft proves that it is a step ahead of other software companies. Microsoft Sharepoint is a powerful but versatile combination of document, workflow, team and collaboration management softwares, which is an incredible asset for any company. There are many things that Sharepoint does right. The user interface has just the right of complexity to include many features while still being rather easy to learn. There are also industry leading features like the ability to share very large files with everyone, which really makes life a lot easier. The file upload/download times are also comparatively shorter than other softwares which I love. There are also team management features like adding people to a project and giving them permissions and roles, etc. Obviously as this is a Microsoft app, this integrates with all other Microsoft software smoothly and effortlessly, which is nice. Cons Sharepoint is really hard to set up at first, especially if you are storing files locally and will require someone experienced to fully set up. The price is also quite high per user, but this is completely worth it in my opinion. It also takes a while to realise the full potential of Sharepoint as there are a few features that are hard to find. Review Source RB René B. Recently i had the privilege to set it up for company-wide content sharing and other uses. It makes business operations efficient and definitely looks professional. Pros It's free to use as long as you have a business account with Microsoft 365. We found a common space for collaboration and content that needs to be shared across all departments and the entire organization. Cons I can't think of anything i don't like about Sharepoint. It has always been an amazing system. Pros It's part of the Microsoft suite, so theoretically integration should be good (in practice I haven't found it to be, as files uploaded do not easily sync in Teams). File sharing works well, if it could be a little cleaner. Cons The closed-off silos of folders make it a very non-transparent process when multiple departments are involved, negating any use of file sharing. Plus there are crashes/corrupt files too often for comfort, and nobody really trusts any of the files we do have stored. It's an untenable process we're trying to change asap. Pros I love being able to have access to certain business files on whatever computer I choose. Sharepoint has an effective method of collaboration and sharing capability that makes working together very efficient. Cons There is not an effective way to share mass amounts of documents with people outside of the permissions (i.e. peer reviews). And we are able to tell how many people have visit the page using the analytics feature Pros I like the fact that you can easily create websites/pages on your own with less assistant from the share point administrator. I was able to create the organizations Service Catalog with ease. I like the ease of selecting themes for what you are creating. Pros It is very easy to use and very intuitive, and can be adopted by small, medium or big companies with no issues at all. even a company of one, like mine, benefit a lot from the collaboration's tool with partners and clients Cons The initial configuration of a sharepoint site is not necessarily very intuitive, and the help is very generic, sometimes you have to go to the internet and find advice of other users. Cons The modern version of SharePoint that is mobile friendly offers very little customizability in the design and branding of the site. Our company has very strict access controls which are frustrating as a user needing to share files externally, but that's not a fault of the system. It's more of an issue with our company policies. My organisation has been using SharePoint for 5 years and it has been always a great experience to use SharePoint. Pros This software manages documents well and provide efficient way to share the information within an organisation. With the use of sharepoint we can save our important documents at one place and all the employees of an organisation can access the document instantly, which saves time and cost. In SharePoint admin can give particular access to the users as per his requirement eg:- if employee A is working with finance in that scenario share point admin can give access of finance related documents to employee A rather than giving him access to all the documents managed by sharepoint . This option helps organisation to keep their data safe from any vulnerable condition. Cons It is recommended for large organisations as intial cost of setting up SharePoint intranet is high and it's not fruitful to use it for small organisation . It is a great tool for a large/growing company to easily share files between one another. Cons It can be a little troublesome for new users. There are a lot of personal settings to adjust, which can create a headache for the less tech-savvy. It's highly customizable so every page, every group, and every team, can be easily designed for the best possible experience. Cons It takes a little getting used to but I have not found a significant issue with it not giving me what I want or need when I need it. Its integration with other Office 365 tools is very helpful as granting access and sharing files via outlook is also very easy Pros The best part of Microsoft sharepoint for me is the simple user interface. Everything looks very clean, there are simple options for creating new folders and uploading files, sorting, sharing, etc. Even for newbies it is very easy to use and get comfortable with it. Cons Microsoft SharePoint freezes at times, and when creating a document in word or powerpoint online using the platform, they do not have as many functions as the versions that are provided in the off-line versions of the programs. Being an admin, i find it bit tricky to work on the workflow part of it. Rest it is the best. Pros the ease of usage. Be it easy folder structures, drag and drop, the access capabilities, sharepoint pages customization etc. Cons The search functionality is something i am not so happy about. Thought it is robust, more filtering option could have been better Reason for choosing Microsoft SharePoint Sharepoint is something which we had heard a lot from other friends and organizations and hence we thought of trying it and it worked absolutely fine for hosting our content and information in an organized way.
