They only require access to the Internet. This speeds up and allows remote work. Pros Sharepoint is an excellent platform that allows you to store any type of file in the cloud, work it online and share it with your colleagues. It has the particularity that allows you to give different types of access permissions, such as reading, writing, deletion, etc. It also has an excellent and powerful search engine that facilitates access to the information you are looking for. Pros This software is so easy to use, it is a life changer. This program saves me so much time on papers and assignments in school, I don't know what I would have done without it. Cons It did take me about a week to get the hang of it through trial and error, but once I got the flow of it, it was beautiful. Changed our way of sharing documents as a Non Profit. Pros The security measures you can set up are great. What I like most is the ability to share documents with many different users with different access rights ( it can be only read, or being able to edit among others). This helps a lot with sharing documents across the organization. SharePoint has allowed us to create a secure environment for storing and sharing our files. Cons The frequency and speed of synchronization. It is often too slow, causing delays in projects a lot of people are working together. Pros Currently, we are using SharePoint across the whole organization. We use it as a documentation tool. With it we are able to edit, share and makes sure the documents are accessed at ease. On thing that we like about the tool is that it allows for multiple users to work on the same document at the same time, thus saving time. It als o provide a central point where people can share and access files in real time.More to that it is a tool that well collaborate with other tool that we use in the company. The interface looks difference across different browsers which can make and some browsers have an old and awkward layout. SharePoint allows teams to communicate and share files very effectively. Pros SharePoint is great platform for organizing file sharing for teams using the Microsoft Office Suite. The two best features are the team calendar that integrates with Microsoft Outlook and the file hosting. Integration with Outlook is great as it allows for team-wide events to be available to everyone who has access to that SharePoint site. Files can be hosted and checked out for editing and versions can be published to the site for all users to access. Cons There are a few frustrating things with SharePoint, although overall the experience is very good. The limit to the number of minor versions that can be published is five hundred eleven. Another issue is that the data about version numbers and checked out files does not update in real time. This can mean that a user who has not refreshed the site recently is viewing outdated information. Sharepoint includes team sharing software and a multitude of other productivity apps. The potential is almost limitless, including many options for optimization and automation. Cons The biggest con about this software is the rather steep learning curve. I am not a data systems analyst or architect, so it is difficult to employ this software to its full potential in the small business environment. I do think there are a lot of customization features through the use of this that are hard to develop, but if time is invested in the set up and creation of SharePoint for a group or industry, the user appeal is certainly heightened. Very little bugs or glitches are experienced and it is very easy to learn from a user's perspective. Though hard to build and install, the advantages it offers are well appreciated. Pros SharePoint allows you to import, organize, and edit various files in a shared space with your team and organization. I first got the experience of using SharePoint in my biotech industry experience where it was implemented across the entire company. It has been used as the source of our company shared sites, as well as to replace the use of networked file explorer files. SharePoint has allowed us to collectively work on documents as well as a source of collecting these documents for easier filtering and finding of the documents through various tags. Cons The user interface of the software is underwhelming. While it doesn't take away from the main purpose of using SharePoint, it does have a very basic theme that isn't entirely inviting. It has also very good integration with Microsoft Word. Cons It needs a lot of hardware resources in the On-Premise version and actually it is costly. The first search is a little bit slow. it takes time to show the search results and maybe assigning more resources, resolve the problem. for the best functionality, one needs Internet Explorer. although it works under the other browsers. Pros The thing I like most about SharePoint is the versatility it provides for managing data and information (projects, lists, calendars, forms, etc.). Cons If I had to pick one thing I like the least I would say it is the built in functionality and features that are available. There are a lot of advanced things you can do with SharePoint but it requires a lot of knowledge and expertise, so it would be nice if more of the advanced features were made available to the average user somehow. Pros It’s easy to create new “sites” for each of your teams so that you can easily organize and manage all your content for various business units. Once a high level structure is created it’s easy to organize all your companies documents so that they can be easily searchable. User access controls are robust making it easy to delineate who has access to what for how long. Works particularly well in conjunction with one drive. Makes it easy to sync my local files and I can move my assets first to my personal onedrive before moving it to a public folder in share point. Cons No real cons. Cons Es gibt keine Rückgängigmachen Funktion. Wenn man etwas aus Versehen falsch gemacht hat ist schwer wieder zu herstellen. Die Oberfläche ist unflexibel. Es fehlt auch Tag-Funktionen. Etwas zu finden oder zu eine Dashboard zu kreieren ist schwer. Sieht unmodern aus. Für News Feed eine automatische Benachrichtigung zu erstellen ist auch schwierig. Being able to log in from any computer if I need to has been game changing. Whether in office on my PC or in a cabin in the woods with only my IPad I’m able to connect and collaborate. They each get a new "Share" and everyone involved is attached so that file and documents can be shared among the team and there is a common place to save everything that can be reached from anywhere. Pros I like how versatile the tools is with creating small teams/groups to share content between as well as for larger scale intranet capabilities for a large organization where each department can have their own site with links to important information, tools and documents Cons I don't like that we cannot add people outside of the network to groups or teams to share files.
