Pros Sharepoint is easy to setup and access. Using authentication and authorisation, its very easy to grant specific artefact to specific group. Also, sharing artefact with large group over email is easy. You can also do document editing within sharepoint Cons Sometime performance is slow and document edit creates issue. Cons In my experience, it is clunky, ugly and badly designed from a user point of view. It seems to bring together all the worst aspects of all the other applications in MS Office 365. It also requires specialist expertise to make it work really well. It allows us to continue to use Microsoft products and collaborate with colleagues. It allows you to share documents and work on documents at the same time as others. It is a nice solution to compete with Google. Cons Messaging system. It would be nice to provide comments in there to allow people to know what kind of updates happened. Pros SharePoint has allowed for shared documents to be uploaded across our agency and at different offices across the country and the globe. The check-in and check out functions of this allows the users to see if another colleague is currently updating a document. Cons The primary issue we've had with this software is filling up on overall drive space. Typically this is able to be fixed rather quickly but does provide a bit of an inconvenience. Pros I like that it's cloud based intranet tool for our company to increase efficiencies in communication and document sharing. Cons It's not easy to administer or set up. We find folders and tabs get lost/removed, and it's not easy to relocate. The interface seems very dated as an admin. I don't have experience working with this and we needed a consultant to help us set up for very basic use. A more savvy user would have better experience. Pros Sharepoint allows you to automate and create electronic workflows which is a huge benefits for any company attempting to modernize its infrastructure in a reasonable budget. It brings unquestionable efficiencies and can directly contribute to increase in productivity. Cons One of the downsides of sharepoint is that after reaching certain volume of work and data, it starts to not work as well. It also does not interface well with other software and often times a manual bridge or interface needs to be in put in place for the data from sharepoint to merge with the rest of the system. Pros This is the best way to keep a large circle of people organized while collecting essential documents for meetings. We use it in that capacity, though I'm sure there are varied applications for software like this. Cons I have trouble navigating at times, but I'm getting used to it. The thing I would change is the way files have to be deleted: you can't just delete a file, all the contents have to be deleted separately first. Pros It is handy for sharing files with various people from your company or with contractors. Everyone can have up-to-date documents and work on them. Cons The most significant problem is to convince people to use it properly. And, actually, to use it and not to use some random unprotected repositories for their documents. December 12, 2019 2.0 Overall SharePoint is like driving in a car that crashes half the time. Our company uses it and we are forced to make this our primary job tracking method but it leaves us frustrated and it is cumbersome to use. We are constantly working with the developers to fix bugs and problem solve. Pros A way to track our jobs and be held accountable for job flow. Cons It doesn't always work and extremely buggy. Files do not attach 50% of the time. At times project managers and people assigned to the job do not get notified, even when they are filled out. I find it similar to an early 90's interface. Pros Capability to -sync document libraries , folders and files with desktop file finder -collaborate with others within documents Cons Some of the features, when used together, can result in data loss such as tracking changes with multiple collaborators in the browser. There was also a very large learning curve in order to learn how to set up your SharePoint site and then use it properly (without risking data loss). It does everything we would expect from a hard disk drive and much more. Its easy to access anywhere. Pros It actually acts as a Network drive but more easy to access from anywhere. It supports almost any type that we would use in a organization. It comes handy for editing word and excel files as it is integrated office 365 online. Cons So far nothing. Pros It is a document manager that, due to its customization possibilities (at different levels), can cover a wide variety of needs for any company. Solutions, not only related to document storage, can be obtained without writing a line of code if you understand the philosophy of the product regarding sites, lists, metadata, etc. Cons Because it's easy to develop small custom applications out of the box, there are users who don't care about following good practices related to the product.
