Microsoft SharePoint is a useful tool for organizing and managing documents within a company. In a commercial insurance environment, it can help keep client information, policies, applications, and other important documents accessible to the right people. Its integration with Microsoft 365 and Teams makes collaboration easier, although the platform can take some time to learn and navigate effectively.

Pros

Great for organizing and storing company documents in one central location. Makes it easy to share files and collaborate with coworkers. Integrates well with Microsoft 365, including Teams, Word, Excel, and OneDrive. Useful for managing large amounts of information and keeping documents organized.

Cons

Can be confusing to navigate when there are many sites, folders, and documents. Setting up permissions and understanding how everything is structured can take some time.

My overall experience with Microsoft SharePoint has been mixed. It's vital to our organization, but not very easy to learn or use, even with assistance from customer support and their articles.

Pros

Microsoft SharePoint has been our main means of sharing documents within our organization. We are a fully remote organization and utilize SharePoint to help give access to our documents. Since the cost is rolled into our M365 subscription, the cost is low compared to alternatives.

Cons

Microsoft SharePoint is not a very user-friendly interface. It is difficult to use and learn, the employee management section is difficult, and guidance from the customer support team does little to help.

Overall my experience using it has been great, it’s easy to use and it is great when using documentation.

Pros

What I like most about this software is that it is easy to use when you’re familiarized with the program.

What I least like about it is that it is not well known. I was introduced to this software, so I didn’t know it existed.

It is an overall benefit to our office and helps people be more productive. It connects our users and allows them to communicate better.

My overall experience with Microsoft SharePoint has been positive. The Ease of Use makes common document and information-management tasks straightforward, while Document Management helps keep files and resources organized in one centralized location. The User Interface is generally easy to navigate, and Communication is supported through shared resources and team sites. Although managing larger SharePoint environments can sometimes become complicated, I believe the platform provides good Value for Money for organizations that need centralized document management and collaboration. I have limited direct experience with Customer Support and Employee Management.

Pros

Microsoft SharePoint is easy to use and provides good value for money for organizing and managing business information. Its Document Management capabilities make it convenient to store, organize, and share files, while the User Interface makes navigating documents and team resources straightforward. It also supports Communication and collaboration by giving teams a centralized place to access information and work together.

Cons

SharePoint can become difficult to navigate when there are many sites, folders, documents, and permissions involved. Some advanced features can also take time to understand, particularly for new users. I have occasionally experienced minor usability issues when accessing or organizing documents. I have limited direct experience with Customer Support, so I cannot strongly evaluate that aspect. Employee Management is also not a feature I have used extensively.

Overall, sharepoint is great and we will continue to use it for all of our files and databases to keep them organized and shareable.

Pros

Our company uses sharepoint for all of our files and databases. It is easy to keep it organized and give proper access to the right people.

Cons

I’ve found sometimes files can take a while to upload, sometimes erroring out. Eventually they will load.

Pros

Sharepoint, while a bit unintuative at first, is a very powerful tool for collaboration. It integrates perfectly with the Microsoft Office suite and offers lots of options for those types of file format when stored in Sharepoint Sites.

Cons

Sharepoint is not for all scenarios, it can be a very powerful tool for collaboaration given that the right file type are used. Setting us security is also quite different for traditional NTFS security.

I built an internal hub site from the ground up for my department. It then grew in scope and now has an audience of hundreds of my collegues. It is easy to launch, manage and update the site which is important in our fast changing industry.

Pros

It is relatively easy to produce and maintain a slick, valuable knowledge sharing site, especially if your organization uses Microsoft Office platform already. It represents good value considering the range of features and the UI is modern, simple and functional. There is more than one way of doing the same thing. Document libraries are simple to maintain and show metadata to manage them. Integration with Outlook makes sending out monthly newsletters or other memos simple. I can also train a Copilot AI chatbot on the content which has been very valuable.

Cons

There is a limited amount of page layouts which means it is not possible to make optimal use of the screen real estate and users need to scroll. The tiles can only be 2, 3 or 5. and the edges of the screen appear to be wasted space.
