Pros: None. This thing takes hours to set up - the numbers in the revenue tracker do not match up to the deposits in the bank account. We have to keep track of our own revenue and can't trust any of the numbers that show up in their tracking.

Cons: Horrific customer service - insanely high price increases - unethical business practices - For example - we decide to try out a new retention marketing program that they came up with. Sounds like a great idea, decided to test it out. It sucked, whatever, we tried it and just decided to discontinue it. No-can-do. Apparently, without telling us, trying out the new automated follow up program bumped us up to a completely different version of the software - we thought it was just an add-on service. Well the thing sucked and we wanted to go back to what we had, but they eliminated that. But they didn't even tell us that they had eliminated it before we switched back. So they switch us back and we are shockingly surprised when we lose A LOT of functionality. We complain that we were never told when we upgraded, or when we downgraded what the consequences would be. They don't care. So here we are losing money as a result, because we can't manually adjust prices when necessary and spending a significant amount of time doing things ourselves that our employees were able to do before. So we just agree to go back to the upgraded version only to find out that all of our membership contracts and autopays information is gone. I know we are not the only ones this has happened to. I smell a class-action lawsuit coming...

MindBody is on its way to becoming something great.

Pros: I consider MindBody on the computer, and a mobile device two different software experiences. What I enjoy the most about MindBody on the computer, is the ability to resize the window, which allows you to control the amount of information on the screen. What I like most about the MindBody software on a mobile device is the ease of use, and straight to the point UI.

Cons: What I like least about the MindBody software on the computer is the outdated feel and UI. Some menus feel cluttered, while other menus are mostly blank and could contain more information or a drop-down menu and some tabs feel hidden too. A lot of our staff members state that they can not understand the software at first glance and have a difficult time navigating the UI. Simply put, the software should be as easy as, I want to do A, B and C, and should be able to not have to dig through tabs and menus to do it.

Another thing I like least about the software is location management. Our business has two locations using Mindbody, and there is not an easy eay to switch between both accounts, without having to completely log out of the account and log back into the other one.

What I like least about the MindBody software on a mobile device, is the business app, it can sometimes look outdated as well. The schedule tab in day view looks cluttered at first glance. The client tab is mostly blank when it could have a "most recently added" tab, or "clients that checked in today" or "Clients that checked in this week" tab.

Overall: My overall experience with Mindbody business management has been well. Customer service is really good, each department I speak with is very helpful and informative. However, I would like to see Mindbody have a department or a program that allows businesses to collaborate with the MindBody software team, to help improve the software and help the Mindbody software team understands the types of software tools different business would need.

Pros: Software does a good job of keeping track of clients and their information and gives them a platform to reserve their spot

Cons: No app, antiquated on functionality and visually not appealing . One the leader in their field , the program has not changed its look since I first encountered it 15 years ago. There is no app for staff to use, there is no app to use as a check in station. Designed around a computer terminal one has to use a laptop and not able to use either Apple or android tablets as check in stations. the look and functionality has been lap by many programs that followed is such as zenplanner. Not only do other product has even a better user experience, but they beat them in pricing. They do many a la cart pricing when others include all the bells for far less price. Integration of email is only with a paid service when other allow you to integrate with services such as mail chimp free service.

Overall: Automation and athlete tracking was not bad, although new software have picked up and improved on an original leader in the field. Data analysis and reports are good and accurate but not user friendly or visually appealing .

Comments: THEY HOLD YOUR CLIENT DATA HOSTAGE - Additionally, when we leave we will have to pay them for our own clients information to have it transferred to the new company . . . OUR OWN CLIENTS!!!

Pros: The software is pretty easy to figure out however the bad too far outweighs the good. When you crash as often as MindBody does it really doesn't matter whether your software is easy to use or not.

Cons: THEY CONSTANTLY DISRUPT BUSINESS - They choose to launch software updates and perform maintenance during peak business hours which constantly disrupts business. One outage on 4/5/18 lasted THE WHOLE DAY!!! Then the following day their credit card processors went down almost an entire day and this was a busy Friday for us. They majorly altered their software system and implemented in on Saturday 3/3/18 which severely disrupted business. All of a sudden our front desk staff could not book clients services, close out the register, or tip service providers out. They stated that this was now the Essentials Package. In the MBO Essentials package staff cannot book or close out a register, only a manager or owner can do this. Managers cannot tip out staff, only an owner can do this. What kind of small business runs with managers on hand to book and close out the drawer every day and owners who also come in every day to tips the staff out for what they earned? THEY STOLE THOUSANDS FROM OUT CLIENTS ACCOUNTS - They discontinued our clients rewards and took all the money that they had earned from their accounts. Some of our clients had been earning these funds for a decades. We had thousands affected! THEIR CREDIT CARD PROCESSING WONT ACCEPT ALL CREDIT CARDS - They switched us over so that they could function as our credit card processor this last year and assured us that nothing would change, however because of the way they process transactions prepaid credit cards like visa, mastercard, etc can no longer be used as a form of payment.

Comments: I am now with Acuity Scheduling...ultra cheap and convenient for posting links to scheduling, and can link a merchant account to it for card payments.

Pros: The ladies I worked with getting connect to MindBody...Amazing! These ladies presented me with a great opportunity to connect to a huge network of people in my area that typically engage in massage services. The set up is easy, and you will have someone that makes sure you are ready to start using your scheduling system.

Cons: Tech Issues: I had nothing but issues when it came down to my clients being able to join the network and start booking appointments. What I was the most shocked/upset with is there not being a protocol in place when it came to these issues, and the reps not being sensitive the matter at hand. I couldn't have been the first person with guest experiencing an issue exactly, or similar to mine. One time it took a client 6-7 times to successfully book an appointment!?!? I am available for walk-ins, so I could only imagine how many others just passed to the next massage therapist with a working scheduling system! Talk about upset and frustrated! While everyone is pleasant to speak with, kinda helpless when it came to the tech issue I had. Phone Calls: You will get phone calls from companies that partner with MindBody. Constant Contact is one. A email marketing scam! There is a button under the Manager Tools for them! If you are interested in a service like that, speak to SignPost. Value is much higher than Constant Contact. My point is you will have someone integrated with MindBody looking to squeeze a few bucks out of you weekly. Online Payments: Again, a hidden MindBody business entity. Can only use the merchant company they have. You cannot even post a deal without have a merchant account with who they provide. Deals are ways to get discovered on the platform...the hook. In short, your are forced to have the merchant MindBody provides. More squeeze. There is a 31 day cancellation policy in place, so I lost a few coins this month to a system they can't even figure out of how to diagnose and repair. I didn't argue with them to get my money back because I've wasted enough energy talk to the reps at MindBody. Good luck business owners needing this type of service. I wish you the best!

Pros: Very easy to use once you get set up and figure it out how to make it work for your business. Before MindBody changed their software capabilities... again... there was so much flexibility in how to use the software and it has so many very applicable functions for multiple business types. Customer service has ALWAYS been amazing and the interface is very customer friendly. It also has a great app for online booking.

Cons: How much the program changes in terms of the way the interface is used; every "update" has made the system very complicated for our businesses use, and we would constantly be retraining our employees how to use get around the new changes to use the software as we originally purchased it for. As of a month ago, they just implemented a new payment tier system that has limited our previous uses and is forcing us to pay an additional (went from to get most of the functions back and a bunch we don't want or will ever use for our business. Which leads us to our final issue... MindBody is constantly upping their prices. We have been with them for 5 years (???) and every year they are charging us more. In summary, too many changes with little warning, new functions are being implied that we don't want nor will use but are expected to pay for, and capabilities we had before we are now expected to pay more for after years of access. We wished we could have stayed with them, but they seemed to have outgrown our business and overshoot our needs.

Overall: Did a great job compiling competitive software services that we need for our business.

Pros: Nothing. I'm only using it now because I have 10 years worth of data and setup. I'll bail as soon as another company offers a data migration tool.

Cons: MindBody has is a despicable and and unethical company. Recently removing features that were available in the essentials version before creating a "Pro" version to extort existing customers to pay double the cost.

This company is trying to force people to upgrade by removing features that already existed in our current version. Features that made our jobs as studio owners a bit easier so we could use our resources elsewhere, like running our businesses.

Honestly, this company is the WORST. If they had any integrity or valued their customers at all they could have at least grandfathered in those features for businesses like myself that have been using their software for TEN+ YEARS instead of using sleazy extortion tactics to try to force us to pay for a version of software with features we don't need or will ever use.

I'm roped in already, but I'm dumping this company the second one of their competitors realizes the opportunity and cleans up their glitches and offers a migration tool for our data. In the meantime, anyone starting a new studio who's shopping for software should STAY AWAY from MindBody Online.

Pros: MBO is far more than a software provider. They are my strategic business partner. They keep me current on all the technological advancements available in the market through ongoing development in the software. As well as provide the research/data analysis which helps me make sound business decisions regarding my future growth and profitability.

My favorite feature is the ease of setting up the reoccurring revenue via auto pay monthly membership contracts. The other two powerful resources I use are the automated emails, retention/re-engage email marketing, and all the reporting capabilities. The day to day use of class check-in, retail sales, client account management are all features I like.

Finally, the primary reason, and the one which has earned MBO the strategic partner status within my organization is summed up in on simple word support. Their world class team of dedicated technical support staff are available 24/7/365 to answer my questions, provide information and will take all the time necessary to help me resolve anything I need.

The support doesn't end with the technical. Through the MINDBODY University program I've learned best practices, how to use the reports to build my sales and marketing strategies and to set my business goals. The MBU video tutorial liberty provides additional information on a variety of topics right from my desktop.

MINDBODY is far more than a software provider, they are my teammates! My success is their success. Period.

Cons: Like any partnership, there are always imperfections and areas of improvement. If I could wave a magic wand and all my wishes were granted, then this is what I would wish:

a more robust set of auto email options

more content for the retention and re-engage emails

more functionality related to inventory

the ability of change contract start dates after the contract has been activated

That's about it. There are other, small quirks which can be annoying at times, but then again, nothing is perfect and there is always room for improvement in any relationship.

Pros: The only pro I can think of is the integrated merchant processing. Even then it's not really a pro because if you want to use another processor it's not gonna happen.

Cons: Work Item 506732 - [Public API][Verified][GetClientServices][Business App] Unable to check out appointments with services that are associated with a service category relationship

This issue was first reported to Mindbody on July 31st and to-date nothing has been done to resolve it. We continuously call and email the company to only be told the following and I quote "Compensation: We discussed our Terms of Service, and how they do not grant compensation for work items such as these. The compensation you were given was related to your experience, and not associated in anyway with a loss of revenue, or increase in cost associated with this work item. Because you have already been compensated for your experience with this issue, there will be no additional or ongoing compensation applied to your account.

Internal Communication: I have reached out to our Developers for the most current information about this issue that they can provide to us. When they reply to me, I can relay that information to you. You will also be proactively notified via email when the issue is resolved."

This is fine and all but Mindbody will not sit here and continue to charge us full price for less than half of a product. Literally when teachers cannot check out lessons properly the system doesn't know to bill for the lessons. That means an overall decrease in revenue and a break down of the billing system.

Pros: MindBodyOnline is used across many studios so it is easy to use. It does most of what I want it to do but not necessarily without workarounds. I really wanted this to work but it's now getting my financials wrong and this is huge for me.

Cons: Very buggy. The phone app acts differently than the web browser application. It's making it nearly impossible to trust my appointments, sessions and payments for clients. I run my studio with the mobile app and it's getting increasingly challenging. As I am a small business, I feel that I don't have much weight to influence positive changes to the app through customer support. I've been told it's because I'm on an entry level version of the app and that if I upgrade I can get what I need. I don't feel that spending extra money after experiencing ridiculous price hikes over the past 2 years will help. I am desperately looking for an alternative to run my business. I've tried several times to talk with customer support and they are always very friendly and try to be helpful but I think they are limited to how the company is being run. I was told to email the CEO directly, I did that 3-4 times and my emails went unanswered.

If there is anything I can tell you not to use:

Referred by Relationship- It mixes packages and false payment information between those two clients

Booking appointments by mobile app- It allows you to book and it automatically takes sessions from their package and reserves it for that session. When you check how many sessions they have left, it's not accurate because it already reserved these sessions so it looks like your client is due for payment when they are not. The web app does not do this!

Overall: It was relatively easy to setup and get going but I wished that I had more alternatives to test before putting my entire business on this. I am seeking an alternative.

Pros: Membership restrictions. payment on account consumer online portion is in Italian ( the language of the country I live in)

Cons: Everything! Was told the app was available in Italian when I was sold the system. 1.5 years later there was a price increase and still no Italian app. I am in Italy and this is one the most important features of my business. * lowest level barely gives you the basics you need to run a business. *By law, I need sales broken down into 3 categories: 1. total sales 2. sales at 22% VAT 3. sales at 10%. Unfortunately, at the basic level this is NOT offered. My sales reporting is per the Italian Law as we must report to the government in this format. It isn't worth paying extra a month for a report I need by law. *By law, I need scontrino and fattura capabilities which they do not have available for Italy yet they continue to sell to Italy. MBO is not compliant with Italian law. They have been very unresponsive in correcting anything and continue to sell in Italy. *TotalWOD not great *Can't put more than 1 item in a contract. *can't do inventory *horrible customer service. takes over a month to get a response via email and several hours waits on chat or phone. *constant price increases *there is so much more I really do not like about Mindbody Online. They shouldn't be selling in a country that they are not compliant with the law at the basic price. *They are NOT designed for a CrossFit Box. *The system is too slow regardless of the operating system. I have tried it on a MAC and a PC. *when a SEPA/ACH fails and gets returned, it doesn't alert the system. It used to do it with the first 3rd party processor (ayden) but doesn't with PaySafe. MBO said they would look into it and never got back to me so now when something fails, I manually adjust the account. It is a pain. A software system should make your life easier.... NOT mind body online. Worst system ever! I am would not recommend it to anyone especially a CrossFit facility operating as a normal business (non ASD). You will waste hours with them. Truly, think twice before you choose MindBody Online. It is horrible for small businesses.

Skip this overpriced, poorly designed software.

Pros: The actual customer interface is pleasing to look at. Customer support had a fairly long wait most days, but when you did get through to someone, they could usually solve the problem or let you know there was nothing they could do to help.

Cons: I was contacted by a Mindbody sales rep who said their software would be "perfect" for doing online reservations for my business. I'm more than a bit disappointed in their software. This is a classic example of a very poorly designed system that has been endlessly fixed and patched.

Here is my biggest complaint. The software allows a client to purchase more seats than what are available in a workshop scheduled for a particular date. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT AN ONLINE RESERVATION SYSTEM ALLOWS MORE SEATS TO BE SOLD THAN ARE AVAILABLE? Really, it's true. It is really and unbelievably true. Happens to us week in and week out and I have to call customers to apologize and fix the mess.

Every month I have to schedule my classes and get them into the system. Because the software is so clunky, it takes a lot of time, multiple screens and it is prone to errors. I've recently switched to a new software system and what takes me 10 minutes now used to take me an hour with Mindbody.

Training employees to use the system is extremely difficult. I finally gave up and just did the work myself.

Their latest 25% price increase had me running for the door.

There are other reservation systems out there that you can find on this review site. Don't waste your time with this one.

Pros: It tricks you and makes you think it's a good idea to use. The sales people are super sweet, kind, nice and charming just like a serial killer trying to get you into their white van with promises of candy, puppies and a meal with Jesus himself to answer all your questions in life.

Cons: Where do I even begin??? it SUCKS. Customer service is a joke, that is if you ever get a hold of anyone. Then they flat out lie to you. The only time I could get a call or e mail back was from a sale department trying to sell me a bigger package. One guy David, lied so bad to me it was like he was a used car sales man in training. Their 24/7 support really means YOU have to wait 24/7 to get a hold of anyone. I got an e mail about a 45% price increase . The support staff told me not to worry about the e mail, I had until March before my price would go that high. Well Jan came around and HAPPY NEW YEAR, big fat price increase just like the e mail said. My call to him was the best after that. He told me I misunderstood and the e mail was correct. So that phone call that took forever to clear up the question about the e mail was just a big waste of time because he lied through his teeth to keep me paying. I would totally save your money unless you like to throw it out and waste any free time you might have. I wish I had found truthful reviews. I went off their marketing I saw everywhere and a business coach that I found out after really didn't have any experience with them. She learned to never recommend them. I learned I can totally control my anger and not drive my car through their headquarters. So MindBody really is about causing you totally frustration in your mind and physical pain in your body from all the crap they put you through. RUN FAST and FAR.

Overall: I know now what to look for with a company. This is totally not a company I would do business with again. EVER.

Pros: First and foremost, I am not on the customer end of this app. I am the back end user/subscriber and I pay a monthly fee to use this system to gain clientele for my personal training business. One thing I liked about the app is that it has many features that allow many ways to communicate with clients. They also have friendly training calls and the people are extremely nice. They seem to be from the west coast so they all seem very laid back, Cali style. They are excellent sales people who know how to get you to

The company does not tell you how difficult the platform is. The fact that we need a trainer to show us how to use it should have let me know that I would require intense hands on training. The back end is difficult and the entire system requires lots of time. This is not a user friendly platform. Their customer service is the worst I have dealt with in many years. They do not offer refunds and if you do receive one, it is only done "At special circumstances" but it is not easy to obtain. The fact they say that there are no refunds is not good. They are mostly afraid that if you see the platform, you will steal their idea so they are more worried about their platform being stolen than making a customer happy. I was offered a free month because they guaranteed I'd be happy with their system. Unfortunately I wasn't and I decided to cancel with them. They never got back to me when I attempted by emailing their clientcare@mindbodyonline.com. I also contacted support@mindbodyonline.com and requested cancellation. I had a chance to speak to a tech support on the weekend who told me that he would let them know to cancel my subscription. I contacted my trainer who also gave me heads up on how to cancel and let me know she would let them know on her end. I am currently waiting on the phone with them for 50 minutes for them to call me back because I am in cue. Their cue time was "first person waiting on cue has waited 50 minutes" so I am assuming that I am not next. Even after requesting for over one week to cancel, they charged my card eight days later. I called my bank and they said that they have dealt with them before on a personal level so their reputation is known to be difficult. Their default email I have received countless times is "Thank you for contacting MINDBODY®. Our team has been experiencing a higher volume of inbound contacts, which means that we may not be able to get back to you as quickly as we would like. We appreciate your continued patience during our peak season and we have some great help resources available online. You can access detailed FAQs, video tutorials, and more, click here to get started! All emails are saved and may be reviewed for quality assurance purposes." This is the email I received by support when asking to cancel, by clientcare. I am now waiting to cancel and I do not have the time to wait yet I need to in order to get my money back. Do not go with them for a trial unless you are ready to commit because they are extremely difficult to work with and will keep your money if you decide they are not for you.

Pros: MindBody customer support is AWESOME! It's the reason I stay with MindBody, though Square offers a lower rate to NCBTMB members such as myself- square's customer support is awful. In contrast stands Max Malle. Remember that name. Best customer service rep I've ever known. He and the others go above and beyond their jobs- you can feel their sincerity. Oh and I've doubled my income and am set to triple it this year because the software does SO MUCH WORK for me. It's my administrative assistant that I only pay $ a month for! It rocks.

Cons: Hm. Well, I have yet to figure out the difference between signing someone up for a yoga class and signing them in to a yoga class, so maybe differentiating that in the program's wording would help. OH and for those of us who use our phones exclusively, not a computer, when using the software, it would be lovely if the phone programming held everything just like the computer programming does. Hmmmmm .... OH and sometimes late at night my schedule disappears completely from my phone. It shows up as blank, which is frightening, but in the morning it's back to normal. Maybe you guys are working on it then?

Overall: MindBody is the admin assistant I've always needed and could never before afford. In the first three months of using it I DOUBLED my income. My clients can schedule, cancel, reschedule, sign up for classes and pay online- that alone saves me at least two hours a day that I no longer have to be on the phone, I can be working! Or playing with my family, or a million other things rather than sitting on a phone or on email. Just the ability to take credit cards (all of them) increased my pay; there's a feature when the client pays which asks if they want to leave a tip and offers different percentages or a custom amount...and when asked if they want to leave a tip, more people do so! Seriously my average went from 65 to 90 each session. Clients can buy gift cards online and print them out immediately, that's a nice feature for those last minute gift givers, and they are again asked if they want to leave a tip... it's crazy how quickly my income skyrocketed. I'm beyond grateful.

OH and the best part. MindBody's customer service. I was actually offered a lower rate with another company (we'll call them Circle so I don't offend the real company) but Circle was terrible. With Circle, I waited fifteen months to get the rate I was promised and I was constantly tossed back and forth in emails and phone calls as Circle passed blame and did nothing to help my business. So I checked out MindBody. And they walked me through the software, the setup, how to use it, they even showed me how to customize everything for my business! We're talking 45 minute phone calls with this awesome customer service associate (Rep- he's so calm and intelligent and researches every question you have) EVERY WEEK until I felt comfortable using MindBody. I was terrified after trying Circle, but MindBody gave me the software, the skills, the customization, the feedback- did I mention you can run reports at any time to figure profit and taxes and such?- and as of today I stand to TRIPLE my income this year. Thank God I didn't give up after Circle. Thank God I found MindBody.

I realize I'm typing in stream-of-consciousness, I realize I'm beyond excited, but for a single mother of three running her own business who had learned to live just below the poverty level, to make such a leap in income, to have such powerful and professional software, to have the unwavering support and knowledge base of an entire team of people at MindBody- it's overwhelming. Miracle Software.

Recommendations to other buyers: PLEASE tell your programmers how very much I admire them. Please let them know how much they rock. Please tell them that they changed the life of a single mom of three, that we all eat SO much better now, all organic we can afford it! And tell them that they're healers in their own right. So many of us Ayurvedic Medicine Practitioners and yoga teachers and massage therapists give away tons of work for free or for charities and live knowing we're in this 'cause we love it, not for the money BUT NOW I HAVE BOTH!!! I actually make enough to support my family! AND I can still give lots of good work for free (stage IV cancer clients get free weekly treatments at my clinic.) Who knew we could do good in the world and receive good pay as well? YOUR PROGRAMMERS KNEW. So tell them we adore them please.

Pros: Options and reporting tools.

Cons: Very expensive for multiple locations, they don't hold true to their promises, they raise their rates all the time and will charge you a huge fee to migrate your information to a new software. Bad business practices all around.

Overall: I helped set up MindBody in 2010 for a studio I managed and I loved the software and customer service. When I went out on my own in 2012 so I called MindBody and set up my own database and again it was great with responsive customer service. I made a deal with them at them at the time to discount 3 of the 4 sites I had because I am an Outdoor Boot Camp program and we don't have a brick and mortar location, this worked out great, until they decided to just stop honoring the discount for no particular reason. Instead of paying $220, now I pay almost $500 for much less functionality. It's just my wife and I so this seems a bit extreme considering one of our locations only has one boot camp a week and we are paying $125 a month just so it shows up on the map in their app. For the past 2 days their support has been out on a team event and their customer care leaves at 3pm apparently each day now because they don't have enough people to handle the call volume. I used to be able to call early in the morning or in the evening and get connected to a very helpful person within just a couple minutes, now it is a complete nightmare. I recommend using any other software company as their track record is that they don't care about customer loyalty and customer support is the last thing they intend to invest in. However, sales people are always available to chat up. I am currently looking to migrate all my data to a new system and that will be expensive, so I recommend just starting with someone else.

Recommendations to other buyers: It's very complicated and works out well if you can contact their customer support. I would have recommended them in the past but now it takes a minimum of 90 minutes to contact someone, I've gone days where I run out of time, which makes it impossible for me as a business owner to set aside time to make changes or update my site.

Nothing about this software, or interacting with this company, should be this hard.

Pros: It seems to do a lot, if we could ever figure out how to make it do what we need it to do, and if the training was in any way accessible or helpful.

Cons: It seems very "Frankensteined" together -- as if they kept adding features without considering how it would impact the whole, thereby making it very counter-intuitive and user-unfriendly. I wasted so much time trying to set up something that was supposed to make my business run more efficiently. There is no way to delete classes and to make any sort of changes to things like class locations you have to go down this rabbit hole of steps. Also customer service is completely inaccessible. Very polite agents but they are impossible to get a hold of. It's like they want you to buy their product and then the company just hides, leaving you stuck with this thing.

Overall: I have been trying to cancel my account for 3 days. I have attempted to reach customer service via Live Chat, phone, and via an online form. Each time I wait for 45+ minutes, and when I do reach an agent I get passed off to someone else and stuck in a hold maze again. It should not be this hard to reach customer service, and is yet another reason why I am cancelling my account. The product is not as advertised (ridiculously difficult to use), the customer support is terrible (when I do get an agent they are always very polite but unfortunately these fine customer service reps are in a system that does not allow them to actually provide customer service). The number one thing ANY business needs to have in its customer service department is accessibility. Cancelling my account should be a quick phone call, not 3 days of being on hold. Cancelling because: 1. The product is obnoxiously complicated and impossible to use 2. The training and support are non-responsive to our needs - our business has unique needs that do not fit their "one size fits all" training approach and their trainers have struggled to make that work 3. Customer service is TERRIBLE. Completely inaccessible agents, always the "wrong" department to help, not posting adequate contact information on the website. As mentioned the individual agents (when I do finally get someone) have always been polite and great, but it's clear they are not empowered to help their customers. As an organization they have a LOT you need to fix at the top. SO SO SO DISAPPOINTED.

Recommendations to other buyers: Could be great for a larger organization that has a tech person on staff to manage all the back-end stuff and can do so with minimal support, particularly if that organization has a very "standard" sort of class/business setup. It did not work for us as we have a more unique structure to how we schedule classes. The sales guy assured me it would work for us but once the setup started, it was clear it wasn't the right fit; unfortunately our trainer (when we were actually able to schedule things with her) was not able to offer a solution for us, and seemed stymied when our business model didn't seem to fit with the training she was supposed to deliver -- when we didn't follow the "script" she was at a loss. If your organization is really independent/self-sufficient and has the tech and time wherewithal to not need much customer support, this could probably be really powerful software. I wish we could have had the chance to really see what it could do, but it was not for us -- we are going for something much more intuitive and simple/elegant.

Comments: I am a business owner of 24 years and contracted with MindBody a year ago to manage our on-line registrations for multiple service providers in the wellness industry. I have never had such terrible customer service and such blatant disregard for managing agreements and communication. MindBody overpromises and under-delivers. In our case, they did not deliver at all but charged me for months of service that they did not provide. We continued to try to work through the significant issues at the great expense of time and money and they continued to not perform. One of the biggest problems with MindBody is you never speak to the same person twice so you explain the problem to someone who promises to fix it. When it doesn't get fixed you have to start over explaining the problem again. I think their product is good but what good is that if their customer service, communication, and follow-through are so deficient? I would never recommend this company to anyone and deeply regret my investment in their product. Even the cancellation process is painful.

Pros: The product is nice to use as a consumer in that you can manage your schedule and payment in one place.

Cons: For the one paying the bills to MindBody, this product is a disaster. They need to train their employees in customer service, communication and them to need to deliver on their promises. In order to get our business, they told us their product would function in many ways that it simply could not. We tried to work with them to lower our expectations of their capability, recognizing that perhaps the original contact just didn't understand the functionality. But their fragmented response and communication issues made this a painful partnership and we are in the process of ending our contract. I can not over-state the poor communication process they have; very frustrating.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you use them, keep accurate records of who you spoke with, when, and what they promised to do. Also, I think this product can work for an individual provider with a simply organized format but for managing a handful of practitioners and services I would be very wary of their ability to serve you.

Comments: I have been using Mind Body for 5 yrs. I am a single practitioner Registered massage therapy clinic. I am very computer savvy. I have used several practice management software and have contributed to UI development of two of them. At the time of sign up I had completed an exhaustive search on Clinic management apps. The two that came out on top for me were Mind/Body and another one. I went with MB because their salesman misrepresented their tech's ability to export my data. In the end, they couldn't do it. He also signed me up at the wrong price for my situation and it cost me extra $ for months. I decided to continue with MB without my previous client database. The back end of the software is extremely complicated and took quite a while to get things to work right. They seem to feel they are the best solution out there, they clearly haven't looked closely at the other providers and how my clients could interact with the software which is overly complicated, I have numerous clients who won't work with MB and call or text. (there will always be some who won't use it no matter the design) They are committed to using Flash (outdated) if you want to use an iPhone or iPad you have to use their apps instead of the site being HTML5 or cross platform compatible. It also doesn't work well with Safari. The CRM is poorly designed and their premium Soap notes are a joke in comparison to what the competition like Booker, Jane app, Soap Vault. and many more offer. Their Auto emails don't handle embedded HTML correctly and are completely broken at the moment and fill my email with content not linked to. You can't collate, print or export client notes or soap notes. I have to copy and paste my notes into word to create a medical-legal report.

Pros: Great 24hr customer service support. Wide range of features. Conventions, classes, and online training on how to use their product and market your practice better Reasonably easy to run your practice once you are set up. Good consumer awareness of the apps so you can be found through their network of providers. A good set of reports to understand and analyze your business.

Cons: Over priced. If a corporation can have an Igo they are conceited and not fully aware of their competition and how they are being bettered by other companies that didn't have to spend millions of dollars last year to deliver what they are offering. Raised my rates 60% in two price increases over the last 6 month period. The initial salesman made false promises. Overly complicated user interface both for potential clients and for service providers. No automatic booking assistance that keeps dead spaces to a minimum. Poor Contact Relation management compared to much less expensive software. Pushed expensive 3rd party upgrades for components that should have been included in the price. They don't have a well-developed place to create treatment notes, can't print, collate or export the notes you do create. Not PIPA compliant (Standards of patient privacy) Can't bill or track insurance billing and payments. Takes forever to fix something broken in their software. Promised features and then took 2-3 years to deliver features.

Recommendations to other buyers: Spend your time doing your research of the other providers, You will get more for you money elsewhere.

Comments: I run a small yoga studio and have used Mindbody for a few years. I have always found it to be time consuming, doing simple tasks and changes take too long, it is not intuitive or user friendly.There are a lot of things it should do, that you have to pay extra for, for example for $95 a month I should not have to pay Healcode (now owned by Mindbody) $25 a month to embed the schedule onto my website. Customer service has always been horrible and slow, but we recently came across an issue where I noticed that auto pays that did not process (were denied by the customers credit card) were charging the customers account so it never showed that they owed. It took 4 customer service calls for someone to figure it out, I learned that because of this issue, my small business had lost just over $2,000.00 in auto renewal payments, and Mindbody told me that was it was my fault, and that I must have gone in and set up the option on my own (though they could never verify when I set that up). Needless to say, I have talked to lots of other studio owners and we are all looking for other options.

Pros: Lots of options and reports. Clients can purchase things online and register for classes in advance. Also the auto-renewal option is nice (when the settings are set in a way that makes sense)

Cons: Not user friendly, poor and slow to respond (3 plus business days or longer) customer service, expensive, have to purchase add ons for better functionality, somewhat dated looking, time consuming to set things up, looks somewhat dated, customers often have issues using the client portal. As a former customer service manager, the customer service is by far my biggest complaint, if they had excellent customer service I think I would overall be more happy with them and forgive the other grievances I have with their software.

Recommendations to other buyers: Look at other options first and only go with Mindbody if it has something specific that you need that another company does not. Find a place that treats you great and will take care of you and the needs of your business!

Pros: - If most of your business is direct debit based, and if you can get your customers into their paysafe (netbanx) system, then the transaction charges seem competitive (plus an extra monthly fee).

- There are lots of features

- It has a custom app that looks pretty

Cons: - The app will also advertise any of your competitors on mindbody when people look for you

- You feel like you are dealing with a big company that doesn't ultimately care about you or your business, just your money

- Legally dubious "No Refund" policy will be enforced regardless of the reason you ask. Contact your consumer ombudsman if they try this

- Inflexible back end - jack of all trades approach

Overall: When you sign up you'll be promised the moon and stars. Then you'll get 1-2 support calls per week and you'll see many of those claims retracted. If your support guy is good (I had one good call) this is enough to get you up and running. Unfortunately mine was not. It was "click here, type this, go back to this screen and click here" and then at exactly 45 minutes our call is ended until the next one. No explanation of the system just blind instructions. This went on for 2 months! At some point he was telling me "You're ready to go" when in fact all I'd been doing was following his instructions and still didn't get any explanation on how to use it with clients. The final straw was when I couldn't get the app working on an android device and then told they don't support all android devices (sales rep promised 'it will run on any android device'). In maddening frustration by that point, I left and asked for a refund but was told "we have a no refund policy". I later realised by myself that a different app is used for business (nobody in support pointed this out when I brought up the compatibility issue). I'd already bought all the hardware and cards for the barcode scanning function so tried to clear the air and take a share of blame, then suggested if someone on their end can just explain how to use that feature I'd continue with mindbody. They ignored that and are completely ignoring all of my emails now (even though I'm still in the middle of a paid month). Do not go near these guys, they will take your money and drop you if you are too much work. There is no trial period and their legally dubious 'no refund policy' means you will never get your money back if something goes wrong. You will feel like a tiny cog to a big company and if you don't like how the system works, tough!

To review the software itself, it has lots of features but you'll only need a fraction of them. The reason is that they try to cover such a wide range of businesses - from gyms to hair dressers. So the backend has a ton of menus and unfamiliar terminologies, and a significant learning curve to get up and running. This would be manageable, but see my review above regarding support. If you want to drive desk staff mad, and make them harder to train and replace, then this is a good way to do it.

I would recommend you shop around for a better alternative to this. Mindbody is a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none. Goteamup or Glofox were much better alternatives I evaluated

Recommendations to other buyers: If you get a good support guy you might be ok, but there doesn't seem to be any standard. Either way, don't expect to be much. Don't fall for any of the sales pitches, including the "24/7 support" nonsense - It's very much a conveyor belt system and you will have a set number of exactly 45 minute long calls. They want to train you and forget about you and if that takes too long, they'll just ignore you (look at other reviews you'll see the same). In the end I went with goteamup which wasn't nearly as feature rich but did what I needed and actually did some basic things mindbody couldn't (eg. online health screening forms). Glofox was another promising alternative, but it only accepted stripe so I didn't go with in the end. Most smaller companies will work with you and actually entertain (reasonable) feature requests or feedback. Mindbody will not. They'll pay lip service but nothing will change, it's a very rigid system. One would wonder why we need to pay monthly fee's in that case since it could be a one time buy piece of software. What you SHOULD be paying for is support, and mindbody falls way short of any other competitor I've evaluated.

Pros: Excellent admin management. Wonderful for managing appointments and worth the money based on this alone. You pay more as your business grows. I have found the support to be excellent. I'm not sure why so many people here are complaining about the support. Everyone I've talked to has been really knowledgeable and helpful.

Cons: No way to book appointments directly on your own website. This is a pretty big one for me obviously. The booking page for the customer is stark, confusing, and unnecessarily cumbersome. There needs to be a way to make the integration more seamless and pretty. I guess it's just very disappointing because the software and company are otherwise very good. This seems like such a no-brainer and I feel like I'm losing business because of it. This needs to be addressed.

Overall: Own a hair salon? This might be important to you too: I've been using MindBody for nearly 2 years at my salon for its online booking. I have nothing bad to say about how the online booking functions on MY end... meaning that when I log in and manage my appointments, it's pretty easy for me. It's actually REALLY easy for me and I love the way MindBody allows me to manage my appointments. So I do recommend it for this very important reason.

HOWEVER, what I don't love about this service is that, according to my website designers SetMySite (these guys are incredible btw), there's no "customizable embed code"... in business owner terms that means, when the client wants to book their appointment through the website, they click on a link on the website that takes them OUT of your website and ON TO MindBody's website. There are other salon booking applications that allow you to create a custom look and feel to the appointment booking application and "embed" it onto your website, so that your clients can actually book ON your website. MindBody offers no such feature. So why does this ruin the experience so much?

1) It looks unprofessional! We consider ourselves a very high-end salon. Sending our client to another website that doesn't match the same look and feel of our website looks amateur and unpolished. Especially since our website uses dark colors, and MindBody's is all white - it's a very ugly contrast.

2) It's not very user friendly for the client. Originally I wanted a "book now" button under each service offering on my website and I wanted to have that button automatically take the client down the path to book that specific service once they clicked on it (obviously). But I guess that wasn't so obvious for the MindBody peeps as when someone clicks on the "book now" button on my website, it just takes them to a general page where the client has to fish around for the service they JUST TRIED to book on my site and re-add it so they can book! SMH.

3) When the client is taken to the MindBody booking page, they aren't greeted with a list of services to choose from. They are greeted the the need to "sign in" to an account. How could a first time client already have an account? MindBody should know that many many clients that book online are actually first time clients! Why not make it as easy as possible for them to book online? I feel like MindBody makes it as HARD as possible for them to book the service they want through the website itself.

Recommendations to other buyers: The MindBody app is really nice and a handful of my clients use it for booking their appointments which is pretty cool. I had SetMySite add a button to my website so clients could download the app to their phones and book their appointments that way. The app is cleaner and easier to use.

Pros: The MBO business app works well on my phone for events

Cons: I do not think it's efficient at all. There are wayyyyyyyyy too many things to click to get to what you want, clients have to wait way too long to get signed in and pay for a package. I used to work in the restaurant industry and POS systems definitely had their flaws but they were quick and to the point. MBO was definitely designed by someone who has never had to work a busy sign in at a busy yoga studio. It seems the system was designed by someone who does not understand the client experience or how important efficiency is an employee. And the amount of glitches and ways I have to trick the system to do what I want, for example the autopay schedule. Why can't I use two forms of payment for one payment? Like $10 from their account credit and the rest on the card. Instead I have to charge the card the rest ahead of time to the account and then apply it to the month and then go in and change the payment type which sometimes doesn't save and sometimes changes it all to account payment. Which causes the client to have a huge negative account balance by the time we catch it and we have to go back to find them. That's one example.

Also the customer service is horrendous. I usually have to call back a few times about the same issue in order to get someone who knows what they are doing or talking about. And half the time I have to teach the reps how to work something in order to get an answer.

I really think MBO has a long way to go before it's useful.

Pros: -visually, it is simple and appealing

-The customer service team is responsive and intelligent and we appreciate the remote controlling of the screen to learn while issues are resolved

-Mostly it has accommodated the needs of our business

Cons: -It is clearly most functional for a class-based business, we would love to see improvements and functionality for appointment based (one that stands out, is being able to schedule through our Google Business listing)

-The fact that you raise your rates and do not grandfather in your current subscribers to stay at the same rate is really sneaky and I do not respect that at all. Just because you add features that we did not ask for or need, does not mean that your happy clients should be forced into higher cost for services they do not want. Some customer loyalty would be nice.

-There are features that we "cannot change" at all that would make our business run more smoothly (how the check out options are arranged, the way that clients are able to book certain times using your software through our website, and using a GC to pay for a service when booking online...to name a few)

-When mind body is down, our business is DOWN, and we have seen first hand how horrible of an impact this can have for us

Overall: Overall. Our experience is a positive one.

We certainly have our frustrations and have been met with dead ends on more than one occasion.

We have been continually researching and discussing with peers the use of other similar products to see if there would be a similar and more cost effective fit for us.

Comments: We switched to MB less than a year ago. We are looking again, as painful as that may be. For us there were just too many issues that impacted our business. The tech support was good but if the program has flaws well that's out of the their control. They have forums to post complaints, questions etc. They get back to you quickly but once again actually doing something about them is another matter. The interface has a nice look to it but evidently their testing of it for usability is completely lacking or faulty. I now get regular complaints from customers that they cannot set an appt with us. How many times do you want to call tech support about this. The system is working but they have some design flaws that costs us time and money. They make you buy all manner of add on services for things like mobile, and soap notes. You can use their MB Connect app to have clients set an appt with you but the app lists all other competitors in your area that use MB too. All in all just a difficult company to deal with to get any real resolution to problems, Feels like the company has its own agenda of what it wants to give its customers regardless of what they customers are saying. This has been a real poor experience and I normally would not switch so soon but frankly they leave me with little choice, I'm tired of always running to the forums and it really is messing with my desire for harmony to have to deal with this negative stuff all the time.

Pros: There are some positive aspects to the software You can make and change appts easily, but, seriously if it were okay, we'd be sticking with it

Cons: There is a strong chance there will be major items that will affect how you run your business and the chances of them getting fixed is slim to none. Once again tech support is helpful but the program is what it is and if you don't like it then too bad. Not a very good way to create patient/appt notes. Modifying recurring breaks is basically delete and recreate another one. If you need to schedule breaks throughout the day, each day. We do this to manage appt times, the first time you need to make an exception will be an eye opener. Why they cannot allow exception to recurring times like other software is beyond me and just another sign they don't really care or think it's important. Ask yourself how many clients you would like to tell you your software is hard to use? If it's more than a few you will be kicking yourself in no time.

Pros: Dynamic, adaptable, cost effective

Cons: Would like more emphasis on 'enrollment' aspect of software since that is what we use the most.

Overall: After running our sailing school for 20 years under the county park system, our supervisors decided to discontinue the park's registration services. We were suddenly thrust into an administrative role where we had no experience. As I blindly searched for a registration solution, I stumbled upon Mindbody. My initial deduction was that the product wouldn't work for the types of programs and services we provide. I explained this to the Mindbody representative and described all the reasons why it wasn't a good fit. She listened to my rant and one by one dispelled my objections with solutions in the Mindbody software. Not only that, she assured me that Mindbody would be there to hold-our-hand through it all, and that the price was well within our budget. I had no choice but to sign up on the spot. 8 years later and Westwind is stronger than ever. In the first year of using Mindbody, our registrations and revenues were the best they had been in 5 years despite the ongoing recession. Our business continues to grow and evolve and Mindbody grows and evolves with us. I was blown away the first time I noticed improvements in the product based on requests from the clients. Now it's just the norm. I recently discovered Mindbody BOLD and Mindbody University. Both were some of the best business conferences I've attended in 30 years of running my company. Bottom line: Mindbody is a dynamic and forward thinking company that sincerely cares about its staff and customers. I strive to run my business this way and I find that I use Mindbody as a role mode. LOL! I'm not getting paid to say this stuff, it just really is that good!

Comments: Our first comments are related to all prospective MB clients.

PROS

MB's software is very stable, meaning that it rarely crashes. It also offers a variety of reports (financial, attendance, staff management, inventory, etc.) that are useful, and its tech support personnel are extremely knowledgeable and personable.

CONS

There are significant downsides to the MB experience. First, payment processing has become remarkably slow. Whereas with our previous payment processor credit card transactions hit our bank account on the 1st day after submission, MB's payment processing routinely takes 3 to 5 business days. Second, contrary to what MB's sales team says, the software is not intuitive. From incomprehensible terms of art like "pricing option" and "series" that have no correlation to contemporary English usage in the UK, US or anywhere else, to a completely byzantine interface that makes it nearly impossible for a neophyte to find routine management features, you can expect to spend LOTS of time with customer support. Third, you must purchase a variety of services from MB partners to install calendars, online store, etc., on your website, for email marketing and other features that other vendors offer at no additional charge. In this connection, we've had a superb experience with MB partner Listen 360 and a horrendous, costly experience with another MB partner LiveEdit Aurora.

FOR MARTIAL ARTS SCHOOL OWNERS

The software was not intended for our use or for that of our clients. The only accommodation that MB has made for our industry is to include a belt ranking feature. So, if you don't use a belt system, there is nothing about MB that is specifically tailored to your martial arts business.

IN SUM

Far and away, MB's best feature is its world-class technical support. We've been with MB for about four years, but we would have jettisoned them long ago if it had not been for the excellence of their tech support. Yes, at different times of the day clients (like us) have to wait. However, MB has a first-rate call back feature that holds your place in the queue and, then, actually calls you back. That said, the slowness of payment processing, difficulty of using the software, necessity of adding features that increase the cost of the software by 50% to 100%, and lack of features that address the specific needs of our martial arts business has led us to the conclusion that we have to find new management software.

Pros: We had worked with MindBody since 2007 and for the first few years we were really happy with their service. However, since they started making change after change in 2013 their program causes Safari to crash and their recommended Dymo printer is no longer compatible with most browsers.

Cons: They interrupt business on a regular basis in an effort to "improve" their software. They have been doing this since 2013. Although we and other business we know that still use them or used to use them provided feedback on the disruptive process they still opt to run these feature changes during peak business hours. It is disrespectful of MindBody to constantly disrupt business for those paying for service. Our rep tried to upset us in February 2017 and was told "No" given all the disruptions we had experienced. He ended up signing us up for an increase anyway and we are still working with them to get back the money stolen.

Pros: It provides you with at least some type of software. They promote themselves pretty well, which makes them more known.

Cons: They overrate themselves, as the software does not have as much capability as they say, in several areas. Too expensive or can become that way, in order to have all the features you need, because you have to hire additional entities to get certain features that are not included. We now have a software with just about everything included in the pricing. MB's pricing increases quite often. I did not appreciate that in the beginning when training with them, they don't tell you how many limited hours they give you and are actually monitoring, but in the long run, they tell you how much of their time you've taken up, when you never knew there was a limit or that you were being monitored. The whole time they're telling you it's okay, you're fine, we'll give you as much time as you need. In the long run, they used this against me. Had they told me this info from the start, I would have hesitated or been more stingy in asking my questions and reaching out for assistance. I finally left MB when I had an unprofessional experience wherein I was mistakenly included in an interoffice email wherein they said some false, mean-spirited ' unprofessional things about me. That was the final straw. I am much happier now with my current software provider.

Pros: I like the tabs. The call help is great and almost always helpful. I also like the help chat so I can save the transcript and go back if I can't remember how I fixed something.

Cons: should be more simplified. have all of the pricing options, price making together. have like with like, all of the events/workshops/courses/enrollments should be together on the same screen. It took me hours to figure out how to add a course, mostly b/c I couldn't find the course tab anywhere near anything that made sense. why it's under manager tools... and not services and pricing with the classes and enrollments is confusing to me. I even used your help button and couldn't find the course management b/c I didn't know what it was called and had to search it in obscure ways in order to finally see course! I've used quickbooks for years in previous jobs and it is so easy to use! I wish MBO was more like that. I would also like to be able to add an hourly pay rate for staff. we offer teacher trainings and pay the teachers hourly for training and a different hourly rate for mentor meetings. IThat way when I run my payroll report I would have everything on it. Now I have to keep a separate sheet with any extra work teachers do. Even a "general journal" type option would suffice.

Overall: This is the only software I've ever used for this so I have no idea what else is out there...

Pros: Scheduling appointments is much easier than our previous system, when the site is functioning properly. Running payroll and reports is much easier than our previous system.

Cons: Frequent service interruptions - system was down for 3 hours one day, causing delays in bookings, checking in and payment processing. It is very hard to ask a client if they don't mind if we charge a credit card for service after they have left (when system functions again) or asking people if we can call them back to schedule an appointment because system is down. I had been calling periodically for over 2 weeks because of lag time on site, customer service blamed it on our internet provider (Charter). After our outage, they admitted that they had problems with a software update and were pulling it back to fix bugs. This would have been nice to know from the beginning. I would love to switch software, but it seems that all booking software has issues and the time it takes to import data and appointments may not be worth it. My hope is that Mindbody works out the bugs and can figure out a way to maintain functionality of it's site. Also, when calling customer service, they generally look up an answer on their own Help site - which I have already read. Seems like everyone is scripted, not actually trained in technical support.

Comments: I work as a product manager for a larger IT company, so when a client came to us that she needed help managing her dance studio but didn't have sufficient founds to develop something tailored for her, we offered consultancy hours that we would do the research and setup and find her a great service provider. I initially started with Zenplanner (sorry for mentioning your concurents Mindbody but they are more sincere), the only problem with Zenplanner was that it was more expensive than Mindbody so after browsing the web i found MindBody. It seemed professional and a tool that might help my client. We scheduled also a meeting with one of their sales representatives, it was great! He promissed the world that it is easy to set up ad does exactly what we need . I eaven showed the pricing model of the studio upfront and he sayed it would be no problem. Well... their trick is that they dont let you test the software like other providers, they only make you a tour via a skype call... so you dont know how it will look like and work like when you get there. So when he promissed that we can do everything and setup would be soooo easy... we got hoocked. Now that we are their clients, the support team is really great and helpfull... but the software does nothing as promissed, at least not the easy way... and you will read in other reviews also about their famous "workarounds" but not eaven those do a great job at what we clearly stated from the beginning that we would need. I repeat do not fall for the "Fals MindBody Prophets" that promisse you to bring you to the promised land! We are getting close to Christmas holydays now right? Everybody cant wait to go on holidays and get peace in mind, soul and heart now im afraid of how to show our client what Mindbody realy does, what are the compromisses, im not eaven capable of setting it up on my own. I would pay someone to set it up for me just that i can know that i can go in my holidays and not suffer at work becouse i recommended such a bad product. I was so naive. Wish i could see the salesperson set up exacly what he promissed mindbody would do . Wis i could find anyone set up what they promissed they would be able to provide. Probably if you sue them they will be able to protect themselves with the famous "WORKAROUNDS" but let me know even those are lies. terribly disgusted by Mindbody and their lies. Thank You MindBody for ruining my day...week...holiday...and piece of mind.

Pros: Reporting features ("tagging" is an excellent one), flexibility in options for settings, appointment confirmations, and reminders, training, and technical support.

Cons: Inability to capture credit card info from the client at booking, integration with the website is clunky, high monthly cost, the app doesn't require the client to enter a phone number, SMS alerts to staff are only possible when the client has opted in to also receive SMS appointment notifications.

Overall: MB does some things really well, then falls far short on obvious things. We've been using it for 5 years, and my number one complaint is the inability to capture credit cards during the booking process to hold a reservation. We have lost probably thousands of dollars from clients who no-showed, and we had no credit card to bill. MB will tell you that they do have this feature when in reality it's a workaround that is incredibly obnoxious and intrusive to the client (a giant box will pop up saying MISSING BILLING INFO, but it gives the client no idea what this means). Their app also does not require a client to enter a phone number, despite that being a forced field set by us on the back end. I would agree with a previous reviewer who said this software is best for class-based businesses. MB largely ignores the needs of other businesses. Considering they just announced they are raising their monthly fee almost 32% to a whopping amount, we are starting to research other companies. I'm done with MB.

Pros: MB has been the industry standard for yoga and massage for years. Their product offers many layers of functionality for service based industries. Mobile app is useful for scheduling.

Cons: I have used MB for almost 8 years and used to love them but they have changed significantly recently. In the last 24 months the service and product has degraded significantly. Customer service calls average a 45 minute wait during the days, call back service doesn't work. CSR, are now poorly trained at finding solutions (they used to be amazing). Bugs continue to pop up with each revision and most remain unresolved. In January 2017 errors with the online scheduler became excessive (4 in one month) where clients booked apts online and we were never notified of their requests.

Then with the addition of text apt reminders it increased charges and I was unaware that other providers did this at no extra charge. Then in January 2017 an email from the president (which intentionally went to junk mail since it didn't come from the known sender like the bills come from) indicated a necessary increase with no new functionality. Leaving them has been hard to transfer data to a new provider, but worth it.

Overall: It provides a one stop program for practice management.

Pros: The software is pretty easy to use, straight forward. If you have basic need, I think it's an ok tool. It used to be reasonably price till they doubled their membership. I decided to downgrade my membership to the cheapest as customer service is not up to speed.

Cons: The customer service has been on a downward spiral for 2 years now. If you have a problem, chances are you're gonna have this problem forever.

Customer service does not understand what you need or sometime they do understand and instead of telling that it's not possible to get a resolution they will try to make you word on detour and waste your time.

Oh, they will definitely ask you to restart your computer... Seriously ?

Wasted hours on the phone with them.

Most funny thing is that they are pretty happy of themselves, they will end the conversation saying that they were happy to resolve your issue.. Ahem, don't tell them it did not get resolve or spend another 30min trying to make them understand your need...

Pros: Appointments Scheduling, Email confirmations, Consumer access (Browser only).

Cons: Gift Card redemption's are difficult, Discounting / Promotion options work intermittently, App does not allow purchasing (huge loss in revenue), Payroll reporting is inaccurate (does not save configuration, which causes over payments) , Forced merchant Servicing, Forced keyed processing (Expensive), Forced PCI Compliance (Quarterly). This software is not designed for Day Spas, Healing Centers, Massage houses etc. Not designed for high volume business. It was designed for Yoga studios and gym type business.

Overall: is that MB is a software for Spas. It's primarily constructed for Yoga and gym type business. Ive bee with them for about a year and have spent tens of thousands, configuring, fixing and attempting work arounds to get things to work. We came to MB with over 40,000 active clients and the transition cost a ton of money. If you have a subscription or autopay type business than it works. But their merchant vendor charges based on manually entered credit card numbers each month. Which charges more even though it's a snapshot run on an autopay. Their Engage app is deficient in that you cannot sell services, gift cards or autopays from it. Gift Cards in small volume is OK but many deficiencies. Basically a great tool for yoga but for a high volume business? Not close. Their support staff is handcuffed and you can tell it's frustrating for them. They make changes and improvements to the system based on how many complaint's they receive. W e are not a yoga studio so the work orders we submit fall on deaf years. We are a 20+ year old healing center. I don't know if we have the strength to change management software again. Great for yoga but NOT designed for spas.

Pros: I'm able to schedule my clients' appointments with ease and promptly.

Cons: The Merchant account necessary for taking credit/debit cards seems to charge a higher percentage for typing in the card number (which is a requirement when the crappy dongle won't properly take swiped cards - they're working on the issue though), and a higher percentage for "non-qualified" cards, but nowhere does it stipulate what that means, so I feel like I *could* conceivably be being charged for random charges. I trust MBO though.

Overall: Overall, the Mindbody, Inc. software is pretty great! I don't have need for every single function that MBO offers, but the ones I do use are constantly upgraded and improved - but not in the FB kind of way where it changes so drastically each time it's updated that you can't even follow the improvements).

There are still a couple small features that are still a bit buggy, but keep in mind that 90% of pretty great software is so much better than 0% of perfect software (as in, it's never launched because every bug isn't completely gone yet). And when I mention any issues I have with their customer service, my concerns are handled promptly and professionally. (And I know that a few of my issues are already being worked on by their developers, so pretty soon, it will no longer be an issue.)

All in all, excellent business management software!

Recommendations to other buyers: If you need help managing and organizing your business, MBO is the way to go. I can only speak to its small business/ sole proprietor capabilities as that's my current position, but it's pretty great for what I need done.

Comments: I've had MindBody for over a year and I'm almost done and shopping for another service.

CONS: Recently the customer service has declined. Wait times on the phone are 20-35 minutes and they offer a call back, but isn't that the point of having a number to call...at your convenience? Now, they call you back at their convenience??? If you change a teacher pay rate, that employees history changes too. The worst part is if you are a small studio, which most are, and you do your own website and everything else, you have to pay another company to put MindBody on your website. You have to spend a lot of your time and more money to integrate into your website. This is bizarre to me. It's confusing for clients and it looks awkward on your site. When I call with a problem it gets benched until enough people complain about it. The service fees go up year after year with nothing new or better being offered. They claim you can run your business from the mobile app but this is FALSE. The mobile app is VERY limited. Employees can't even clock in and out, so if your studio is just one room, don't think you can use just an iPad. I could go on and on with the challenges I've faced and I'm small, I can't imagine being a larger studio and having to deal with this - it's a full time job.

PROS: Allows clients to pay online and there is a decent mobile app. Send birthday messages and auto confirmations about classes and appointments. If you have a web developer that runs your website and MindBody this is probably a really good choice for you! There are good things, but once you get in - getting out is hard...think twice before committing. I would try others first.

I think MindBody started with a good idea; however, instead of getting better at what they do, they are trying to do too many things. There are many ways to do things and the functionality is there; however, I wish there was just a version for yoga studios. It can be complex. Good luck!

Pros: It worked for what I needed it to do. The reports section was very good.

Cons: Not intuitive to use. Big learning curve. Processing times are never the same. Constant contact integration is not accurate. Customer service is terrible. Incredibly over priced for a small business. It costs a huge fee to leave if you want your cc data.

Overall: I own a music school. We were able to make MB work with what we do. Billing, scheduling, marketing all in one place-excellent~ CC processing is strange. Your money can hit your bank "whenever" and processing times are always different- one month is was very late which cost us hundreds in fees. They would not pay for the late fees we incurred. There is no customer service. You get put on hold and then an answering machine asks for a call back number. Recently approached by a different software who does the same thing for much less! So far their customer service is responsive and the configuration is similar. Set up more intuitive and clearer than MB. What MB does not tell you is how much it costs for you to leave, a high amount of money to export credit card information. Read all of the Terms of Service agreement which is on the very bottom of the website in tiny writing. Overall horrible experience with the people and policies of this company.

Pros: I love all of the value. Added from MBO. On the home page I'm easily able to see how many. New customers have found my business and purchased services through the MBO app. Every month that number is higher than the cost of the software so I'm actually making money by not switching to one of the less expensive services. I also LOVE the MBO support staff and how easy it is to get someone to help with any problems or questions. Every year more services and programs are added that have helped my business grow since I first started 5 years ago.

Cons: When I first started learning how to use MBO five years ago I found it difficult and not intuitive. I believe that the platform has improved since then and, as I said, the support team is very good at helping you to figure things out. That said, there is a learning curve for new employees simply because there are so many features and it can take a while to find your way through to do what you need to do.

Overall: I don't know how I would run my business without MBO. It makes my whole operation run more smoothly and takes care of so many details that I simply would not be able to manage. Thank you MBO!!!

Not Ready for Beauty Salons and Spas

Comments: Mindbody ("MB") may be great software for gyms, but it is not ready for beauty salons and day spas.

Using Salon Iris for many years but the true STM messaging, client online booking, cloud environment that MB boasted of convinced us to change.

* Booking multiple services painfully challenging and time consuming.

*Could not us STM messaging. MB software would send multiple text messages to clients booked for multiple services and there was no way around this. So, if client booked for haircut, color, conditioning treatment they would get 3 texts with 3 times asking for confirmations. Rendered it useless.

* Closing out the drawer unbelievably complicated.

* Using MB merchant services, if tips were not recorded properly before closing tickets, they could not be adjusted regardless of when batchout was scheduled. Once you closed the ticket, it was closed. Even if not batched out you are SOL (Our previous software and merchant vendor allowed us to enter a tip adjustment after the ticket was closed. In a busy salon this can be essential.)

* Once you checked out client, you could NOT reopen ticket and modify in any way. You had to void, rebook and re-checkout. There was some other convoluted way to do this also but it seemed even more complicated.

We knew this software just was not flexible enough for a hair salon and cancelled immediately after going live for one day. Was assured no more charges, no termination fees with merchant services or minimum monthly fee. I could return printer/reader for full refund. However this did not happen.

Refund of printer/reader ¿ although I was never provided a return policy or informed (ordered via email) they told me I was 4 days out of their 30 day return fee and I would be charged a 20% restock fee. (2 locations, 2 printers, readers, total of about $750. Googled equipment online. Exact same stuff would cost $400!) This was eventually resolved after 6-8 weeks.

Despite cancellation and confirmation from MB that we would not be charged subscription fee, within a few days our credit card was charged for following month. Admitted their error but been 6 weeks and still have not refunded the money. They are "working on it". I recently disputed the charge with my credit card company.

Pros: The ability to download reports on many different stats, and further the ability to download them as different formats, like excel and pdf,

This allows for easy tracking and book keeping.

Cons: -Payment enter information for a user can be a challenge, they need to make a login and password. This is ok if they use the MINDBODY app for other health and fitness services but most of mine don't, and they don't want to make another use account. So instead I have to take their payment info by phone, when it's be easier for me to send them an electronic form to fill out and it would auto populate their client profile.

-calendar is hard to use for blocking time off, for example if away on vacation etc. needs to be more like google iCal, it would be even better if it could sync with google iCal (the reverse) to see if there are any calendar appointments that would otherwise make that person unavailable at that time. calendar needs to be more adaptable and allow overlap of different things if necessary.

Overall: Alllows me to accept payments from clients with relative ease after their payment info is on their profile. Bookkeeping and tracking of all sales.

Comments: I've had a yoga studio for 14 years and a few year ago after MindBody calling me many times to persuade me to their company, I fell for the sauve talking sales people and all their promises. They matched the price of the software I was currently using, only to less than a year later raising it by 25¿ a month. I felt that was quite deceitful. The reports I had inquired about during the sales pitch were actually NOT available once I had switched over. And years later, they still are not available.

Pros: If you are looking for an expensive software and are really into social media and tech things...I guess they offer lots of things that you can pay extra for. I don't do them but I see many advertisings for them. They answer their customer support questions fairly quickly. The service team manage to always stay friendly despite dealing with so many complaints.

Cons: Too difficult and complicated. Expensive. Simple reports are not available. Simple printout of class schedule is not available to print (to post on the in-studio bulletin board for example). The salary calculator to pay the teachers doesn't work properly...many bugs...which I've mentioned and they do not fix. Basic things are 'extras' - like having your schedule appear on your website directly, as if part of your website is 23¿ extra a month. Otherwise, you can have your yoga students click on a link that goes to the MindBody website to see your schedule or if you have your own web designer they can figure out how to make it look like your website even though it is is MindBody.

Recommendations to other buyers: Don't believe anything they say. It's not an honest company, the sales people have been trained very well to stay friendly, positive and tell you everything you want to hear!

Pros: This software has a ton of features, and is a very powerful tool if you have a very large business. The check in feature is not one that I have found anywhere else, and it's very useful to my business.

The on boarding specialist was super knowledgeable and very helpful in getting everything set up.

I really liked that you could tailor make this to suit various kinds of businesses, not just spa and health companies.

Cons: Technical support was a bit lack lustre. You often had to wait over 45 minutes, sometimes up to 1.5 hours on hold to get someone on the phone. That person would then just try to search the problem themselves, and often I would just end up hanging up and spend hours trouble shooting myself because support had no idea what to do. A few times they just could not solve my issues with printers, and cashdrawers auto functions, and blamed it on java, saying there was nothing they could do. Very early on my key broke in the cash drawer and after several calls around, I was told the warranty would not cover this-very annoying.

Most importantly, they then raised their already overpriced subscription by a significant amount, and I realized all the headaches were really just not worth the price anymore, so I cancelled.

Pros: Customer service is very kind and assisting you to get a job done. If they don't know how to do it they are very proactive about learning how to do it even though it may take you being on the line with them for a really long time. But they are really nice people.

Cons: The 20+ minute wait. The phone system that doesn't call you back. The lousy music you have to listen to when you're online waiting. The price is exorbitant. Now if you have a problem, and you get up to do your scheduling and billing earlier than 8 AM , you may not be able to get into your account because other countries don't have the security information needed to properly assist you . So you got up early for no reason at all. And then you're working all day long with clients and you have to take your lunch break or time you don't have to call MindBody and then you sit on the phone for 20+ minutes.

Overall: It organized my billing and scheduling. That's very helpful. It makes it easier to find reports. However now that I do not pay the high dollar amount I do not have access to many of those reports.

Pros: It is a reliable software. Works well on both online and mobile versions. It is well known in the industry, which means your clients may find it familiar.

Cons: Too expensive and always increasing the price, which they try to justify overly promoting things you will probably not going to need. Also, Mindbody used to say how many millions they are investing and blablabla, to justify increasing the prices.

Too complicated to use. Prepare to spend lot's of money and time in their 'academy' courses. It is like an old windows system, where you have many ways to getting to the same thing usually getting lost or forgetting in the middle what was you doing... So complicated that they need to have such courses just to teach you the system (or make you more dependent of their system). Without their trainings you are in trouble.

Poor costumer service. If you are joining or leaving the company they will give you some attention. If you are a regular costumer, prepare to be ignored and wait long for an answer.

Do not recommend at all.

Overall: I benefited from its booking system, payment system and customised app.

Pros: The software is excellent for both appointment and class based businesses. MB has excellent features for many different industries. It is by far the most feature complete system available. There are constant improvements and MB cares about its base. Changes are thoroughly tested before being released. A rich partner network allows you to expand functionality in many ways. Mobile apps for both the provider, owner, and client are available. Mobile solutions are easy to use. Reporting is easy after some training.

Cons: MindBody's insistence of not making their consumer mode mobile friendly is fairly annoying. Reporting interfaces are inconsistent although I understand it is being rewritten and made more consistent. There is a steep learning curve and your success as a client seems dependent upon the person who did your initial setup. There is little consistency in that arena.

Overall: The software manages all aspects of my business. I run both an appointment based business and class based business from the same instance. The ability to easily separate my revenue streams is pretty handy.

Overall: I absolutely do not recommend Mindbody! First off their system is complex and not user friendly and if you're a small business owner, time is not something you have a lot of. The "training sessions" you're required to do are time consuming. The sales team will do anything to get a sale! Even if it means lying to you about their product and services. Not to mention, they charge a large upfront cost and once you finish the "training sessions" and you learn that the product is not for your business, they will give you the run around and will refuse to refund you! Their left hand doesn't know what their right hand is doing. For instance, they purchased the company HealCode that constructs the branded web tools for Mindbody. So inorder to get a widget on your website you have to go through their HealCode Web Tools. HealCode has all of these beautiful widget layouts that they advertise but they don't offer them (false advertising). I spoke to atleast 4 different technical support agents and all of them state that all widgets need CSS coding to make the layout beautiful. But if you specifically asked the sales team this, and they say CSS is not needed for customizations, then they are lying! I cancelled my subscription exactly 2 weeks after establishing the account. I've been going through hell to get my companies money back. I even submitted a complaint through the BBB. Mindbody keeps trying to offer a discount or a credit. And to believe I was so excited to do business with them is a disgrace. They have too many point of contact representatives, too many emails, too many steps, it's just not user friendly. Instead I've decided to go with Schedulicity, and it's the best decision for my company and employees. I will leave my review on every site possible.

Pros: I like that the software is easy to use for every day tasks like scheduling appointments, etc. I also like that we've been using the software for several years so there is a lot of data to geek out on.

Cons: There are a lot of unresolved issues/glitches with the software. 50% of the time when calling tech support the person lacks the knowledge to assist with the issue or gives a generic "it's a known problem, we have a work order in to fix it". Many of these "work order" items have yet to be fixed (some existing for 8+ months). My concern is these issues reflect poorly on our business as our customers assume it's a Gymnazo error not a Mindbody problem. We are very client oriented and want to give our clients the best experience here at Gymnazo, this includes the easy of scheduling.

Another concern is efficiency. I run the KPI reporting and it's a long mundane process to gather all of the information we need for our business meetings. I don't trust the Mindbody reports and feel that I am constantly auditing them to ensure we have accurate data.

Comments: This software leaves alot to be desired. I hava MBA in Management Information Systems. I practically never write reviews but I am so fed up with the issues and lack of integration with a normal workflow setup just to book a client appointment.

It does not allow you to block out a range of time on the schedule. Your only option is a 'business closed' configuration item for the entire day.

You have to manually enter in every single compensation rate for your staff for each item and service provided.

You have to update each staff everytime you add a new service. Any change requires several updates.

It doesn't allow you have multiple sessions treatments without a range for the pricing for that service. This is not client friendly as clients want to know that for a 3 session Microdermabrasion treatment, what is the fixed price, not a range of pricing.

If your business closes at 7pm, appointments cannot be booked at 7pm by the client unless you extend your business hours.

They do not fix any issues for you, it is against company policy so the client can never say that they did something wrong. What a ridiculous response. They make you do all of the configuration and they cannot solve an issue.

You have to manually enter in every service and price unless you pay additional money for another vendor to do an upload for you.

The prices do not show automatically for each service online. It only shows the service. Customers want to see the price of the service at the time they are booking online.

If you rebook, reschedule, modify a client appointment, they may or may not get a notification. It is sporadic as far as the function working properly. You cannot send out a confirmation manually. You have to cut and paste the clients email and send out your own email. Or write down the appointment, do an early cancel for the appointment and then rebook the appointment.

You cannot select the option to send a new client sms or email notifications until after the first appointment is booked and their profile is completely set up and saved. This should be an option to activate at the same time you are scheduling a new client.

Don't let me start on the janky app. Pllleeaassee.. I have decided to cancel my account and move on. Do not bother with this software. Some blockhead who has never run a Day Spa has created this. Spend money on a different software. Do not sign up with Mind Body. They are out of their Mind.
