### "Does a very comprehensive job of monitoring."

September 29, 2025

5.0

Overall its a value and makes monitoring much easier with a wide variaty of options and metrics. I have it connected to Ops Genie as well for a full solution

Pros

Its very comprehensive with many options and senarios available for monitoring performance and speed.

Cons

Some of the monitoring options are hard to setup. Some options have a higher learning curve and require more intergration into your application.

Alternatives considered

### "New Relic can do anything but is hard to get going with"

August 21, 2025

4.0

I have used New Relic since 2016 but only in the last few years I set up the product and used it more extensively.

Pros

New Relic is a very expansive product that can do so so much. It really can cover the capabilities of multiple other products.

Cons

I found it very hard and complicated to get started without training. I found I got lost in the UI often and the terminology was confusing. It took a lot of training to figure out how to use it properly.

### "New Relic delivers exceptional real time observability and deep full stack application monitoring"

August 11, 2026

4.0

Over 1 year, web development monitoring and infrastructure management improved app performance and speed. Customer support is helpful, security features keep data safe, and value for money remains strong despite initial monitoring setup curves.

Pros

Excellent application monitoring and web development insights boost performance and speed. Infrastructure management is clear, security controls are robust, customer support responds well, and overall value for money is solid.

Cons

Telemetry volume can reduce value for money. Customer support is slow on complex issues, web development and infrastructure management need fine-tuning, security setup takes time, and complex queries slow down performance and speed monitoring.

### "Worse each year"

November 7, 2020

2.0

I've used New Relic for 6+ years across 3 different companies including my own. Overall they seem to be going downhill each year, sadly along with many tech companies now. Seem to be entrenched in their industry, trying to hound customers for more money each year, but simultaneously providing less value and no innovation. Meanwhile, many other companies provide many of their features with higher quality and for free. I've recently switched some things to AWS and other services because they are cheaper and more reliable.

Pros

Has monitoring specific to the programming languages and database servers that we use

Cons

Cost is extremely high compared to the value of the service being provided. Many of the features can be found on other platforms for free or cheap. The designers and developers are clearly bad or mediocre. Entire platform is wrought with bugs and decisions about UI and configuration that make no sense and do not actually help the users of the product. They have done multiple revamps of the UI, which I am actually totally fine with in general because I am happy to learn new things, but they simply have not been improvements. Just a reshuffling, often with added work required from me for no benefit, plus features that no longer work. Even lowest tier email support apparently requires paying more than $2000 per year. I was legitimately astounded when I discovered this. I already pay through the nose for this software, and when I tried to file a support request they informed me I had to post in the community. Really??? $2000 per year isn't enough to respond to one measly email support request? I give email support for free for all of my customers, even ones who don't pay, because I legitimately want to make my products as good as possible.

Reason for choosing New Relic

Didn't really compare, just happened to use them at another company so decided to use them for my own as well because it was familiar.

### "good monitoring tool easy to use freindly user interface"

June 29, 2026

4.0

Overall, my experience with New Relic has been very positive. It provides a comprehensive and powerful platform for monitoring applications, infrastructure, and user experience in one place. I especially appreciate the depth of insights, real-time analytics, and customizable dashboards, which make troubleshooting and performance optimization much more efficient. The alerting system is also reliable and helps quickly identify issues before they impact users. However, it does come with a learning curve, and costs can grow as usage increases. Despite these challenges, it remains a valuable tool for maintaining visibility and control over complex systems.

Pros

good monitoring tool that give real time notification in case of not reaching the application or the url address related to

Cons

One of the main downsides of New Relic is its complexity, especially for new users. The interface can feel overwhelming, with many features that require time and experience to fully understand. Pricing is another concern, as costs can quickly increase depending on usage and data ingestion, making it less predictable for smaller teams. Additionally, setting up custom dashboards and alerts can be time‑consuming and sometimes unintuitive. While the platform is powerful, occasional performance lag and delayed data updates can also impact the overall user experience, particularly when rapid troubleshooting is needed in critical production environments.

### "New Relic like a pro"

Its very powerful monitoring. It has capacity to monitor massive amount of data. In our organization we are monitoring nearly about 1000 servers.

Pros

### "A Day in the Life with New Relic"

July 11, 2026

5.0

I've had a solid experience with New Relic, regularly using it to monitor and optimize our application's performance. The tool provides a wealth of data and insights, making it easier to identify issues and implement fixes. Overall, it's been a valuable addition to our tech stack, earning a 4-star rating from me.

Pros

We've found New Relic to be pretty solid for monitoring our application's performance. It's helped us catch issues before they become major problems. The dashboards are customizable and make it easy to track key metrics. We've also used the alerting features to notify us of potential issues.

Cons

One thing that's kind of annoying is the lack of detailed documentation for some of the more advanced features. We've had to take some time to figure out how to use certain tools, like the APM features. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice to have more resources available.

### "Great tool for quickly monitoring performance across your infrastructure"

October 23, 2025

4.0

Overall,New Relic is easy to use straight off the bat, it can be easily integrated with other solutions and has easy to setup thresholds to provide alerting to the relevant people and teams.

Pros

New Relic is great for quickly seeing trends and changes across databases and applications. It is easy to identify problems with performance or load and quickly get to the root cause or at least a step in the right direction to help solve your problem with your infrastructure. It can also be customised to pull in the relevant information.

Cons

We did not find many drawbacks with New Relic aside from the cost which is a little high, it does exactly what it says in and a straightforward way while allowing for customisation.

### "Using New Relic to Manage Errors and Monitor Saturation Reports"

January 20, 2025

4.0

I would say that overall, New Relic has been a significant piece of software for our company, given that we manage a mobile app. Spotting early signs of outages or issues will always be a company goal. You can also build multiple cards where you can write queries depending on the user data you need. This helps identify bugs and the users they impact.

Pros

New Relic has been very helpful in tracking saturation reports as well as errors. It helps us build a proactive approach and prevent anything from completely breaking, which would greatly affect user experience.

Cons

The only thing that I don't like about New Relic, at least from what we have in my current company, is the limit on the amount of data that it displays. We can only see 30 days' worth of data, which hinders us from tracking incidents that happened more than a month ago.

### "Great tool for systems monitoring"

October 14, 2024

4.0

Overall, our experience once set-up is good. Some services were difficult to set-up, but now everything works as intended. New relic is a powerful observability tool.

Pros

Ths software has tons of features to monitor almost any possible tech stack. It has been improved overt time, as previously it had an overcomplicated UX/UI.

Cons

Set-up can be tricky sometimes for determined services, and also, it can become quickly expensive if you need more than the free tier, which can make it difficult for SMB's to adopt it.

### "New Relic One Review"

July 12, 2022

5.0

With the help of the Real-Time Monitoring feature, we keep our business application online.

Pros

Real-time monitoring and application performance management are the best feature which I like most in this application. With the help of Real-Time monitoring, the team will get informed by the system if anything goes wrong in the system like the system down. So, the team can quickly fix the issue and make the system online. Application Performance management helps developers to know where they have to focus in the system to make the system more efficient, reliable and scalable.

Cons

As of now, I don't have anything which I don't like in this software. We keep exploring the available functionality in the New Relic.

### "Performance Monitoring Paradigm"

May 23, 2024

5.0

Pros

I noticed a sudden increase in response times for one of my application endpoints. With New Relic, I was able to drill down into the root cause, discovering that it was due to a database query that needed optimization.

Cons

I least liked about New Relic is its pricing structure, which can be complex to understand and may become expensive as my monitoring needs grow.

### "Best Application monitoring tool around !!"

February 4, 2021

5.0

Pros

Ease of use is the best feature about this tool, you can get started with very minimal training. Dashboarding perfromance report capability is also good, helps us to keep on top of our applications perfromance. Another feature that we love is the integration with Jira which enabled auto-creating of tickets on violation of certain thresholds. Overall, this is used by developer community on daily basis.

Cons

The licensing is per node, whcih makes it expensive to turn it on non-prod infra. I hope this changes in future.

### "Nice monitoring tool with extensive analysis options."

May 11, 2022

5.0

Pros

It is possible to do a in depth analysis in case of a performance problem in our software. This saves us time and we are able to deliver the solution to our users faster. Afterwards we can monitor based on data if the solution actually works.

Cons

Pretty steap pricing model if you want your developers to use most of the features.

### "Pros & Cons of New Relic"

February 21, 2023

5.0

Pros

1\. It has a great interface to debug server-side performance issues.2. Since it runs on your server you get accurate real-user page load times.3. It provides the ability to write custom queries also.4. It also provides the ability to customize monitoring parameters.5. It has a fine stacktrace which highlights the faulty code line by line.

Cons

New Relic has some shortfalls:1. Its Python agent has many memory leaks which lead to resource hogging.2. It has very limited support for the Tornado web framework.3. New Relic works best if your app has some kind of web API, otherwise, it's not much of a use.4. Its interface is a bit tricky, so goodbye ease of use.5. It can be sometimes difficult to get your threshold limits correctly.

### "Solid APM capabilities and a cloud-native approach to monitoring "

April 28, 2019

3.0

APM vendors are a dime a dozen, New Relic is one of the most experienced and it shows in the product and support.

Pros

New Relic has been around for a while, they were founded in 2008. That's over 10+ years in delivering application insights to customers. I started working with New Relic while with VMware, they were overkill for infrastructure but really shone when it came to applications. The ecosystem is active, there are plugins for many popular applications and solutions. They run big data analytics on the backend to provide insights based on patterns observed. Dashboards are easy to setup and customize, and the UI performance is snappy.

Cons

There are a ton of different products within their portfolio so it is somewhat daunting to figure out what works for you. Even worse, pricing varies on multiple factors so it's not straightforward to predict your costs. They do offer a free trial though, like many similar products. While there are many plugins available for New Relic, they are often maintained by partners or other users and are not directly supported by New Relic.

### "New Relic is a very good product if you have the budget for it."

January 10, 2018

5.0

Pros

The strongest point of New Relic is the granularity of the information and that it's a very good fit for any Rails app.

Cons

The big issue I have with New Relic (and the one that made switch to a different provider) is that the pricing is outrageous. Unless you are with a Corporation that does not mind throwing $$$ per month on this service, the free version is barely an good.

### "A promising product being hampered by frequent bugs and issues"

July 30, 2020

3.0

Its a very promising product, but the recent issues and the frequency of those issues have ruined the overall experience. There are more false alerts than the actual alerts and the team is looking for alternate options now.

Pros

We can have a centralized monitoring of all the apps and hosts. Ability to develop custom alerts using NRQL. Helps to identify potential bottlenecks and peaks in the performance.

Cons

Frequent issues/ glitches and downtimes in NewRelic causing false alarms while monitoring. Lack of default dashboard/UI to see the overall status for a group of apps/ team. No feature to turn off a alert policy from the UI, we have to start and stop individual alerts.
