### "good monitoring tool easy to use freindly user interface"

June 29, 2026

4.0

Overall, my experience with New Relic has been very positive. It provides a comprehensive and powerful platform for monitoring applications, infrastructure, and user experience in one place. I especially appreciate the depth of insights, real-time analytics, and customizable dashboards, which make troubleshooting and performance optimization much more efficient. The alerting system is also reliable and helps quickly identify issues before they impact users. However, it does come with a learning curve, and costs can grow as usage increases. Despite these challenges, it remains a valuable tool for maintaining visibility and control over complex systems.

Pros

good monitoring tool that give real time notification in case of not reaching the application or the url address related to

Cons

One of the main downsides of New Relic is its complexity, especially for new users. The interface can feel overwhelming, with many features that require time and experience to fully understand. Pricing is another concern, as costs can quickly increase depending on usage and data ingestion, making it less predictable for smaller teams. Additionally, setting up custom dashboards and alerts can be time‑consuming and sometimes unintuitive. While the platform is powerful, occasional performance lag and delayed data updates can also impact the overall user experience, particularly when rapid troubleshooting is needed in critical production environments.

### "Worse each year"

November 7, 2020

2.0

I've used New Relic for 6+ years across 3 different companies including my own. Overall they seem to be going downhill each year, sadly along with many tech companies now. Seem to be entrenched in their industry, trying to hound customers for more money each year, but simultaneously providing less value and no innovation. Meanwhile, many other companies provide many of their features with higher quality and for free. I've recently switched some things to AWS and other services because they are cheaper and more reliable.

Pros

Has monitoring specific to the programming languages and database servers that we use

Cons

Cost is extremely high compared to the value of the service being provided. Many of the features can be found on other platforms for free or cheap. The designers and developers are clearly bad or mediocre. Entire platform is wrought with bugs and decisions about UI and configuration that make no sense and do not actually help the users of the product. They have done multiple revamps of the UI, which I am actually totally fine with in general because I am happy to learn new things, but they simply have not been improvements. Just a reshuffling, often with added work required from me for no benefit, plus features that no longer work. Even lowest tier email support apparently requires paying more than $2000 per year. I was legitimately astounded when I discovered this. I already pay through the nose for this software, and when I tried to file a support request they informed me I had to post in the community. Really??? $2000 per year isn't enough to respond to one measly email support request? I give email support for free for all of my customers, even ones who don't pay, because I legitimately want to make my products as good as possible.

Reason for choosing New Relic

Didn't really compare, just happened to use them at another company so decided to use them for my own as well because it was familiar.

### "A Day in the Life with New Relic"

July 11, 2026

5.0

I've had a solid experience with New Relic, regularly using it to monitor and optimize our application's performance. The tool provides a wealth of data and insights, making it easier to identify issues and implement fixes. Overall, it's been a valuable addition to our tech stack, earning a 4-star rating from me.

Pros

We've found New Relic to be pretty solid for monitoring our application's performance. It's helped us catch issues before they become major problems. The dashboards are customizable and make it easy to track key metrics. We've also used the alerting features to notify us of potential issues.

Cons

One thing that's kind of annoying is the lack of detailed documentation for some of the more advanced features. We've had to take some time to figure out how to use certain tools, like the APM features. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice to have more resources available.

### "New Relic can do anything but is hard to get going with"

August 21, 2025

4.0

I have used New Relic since 2016 but only in the last few years I set up the product and used it more extensively.

Pros

New Relic is a very expansive product that can do so so much. It really can cover the capabilities of multiple other products.

Cons

I found it very hard and complicated to get started without training. I found I got lost in the UI often and the terminology was confusing. It took a lot of training to figure out how to use it properly.

Switched from

I was told to switch by management, they must have gotten a better deal.

### "Great tool for quickly monitoring performance across your infrastructure"

October 23, 2025

4.0

Overall,New Relic is easy to use straight off the bat, it can be easily integrated with other solutions and has easy to setup thresholds to provide alerting to the relevant people and teams.

Pros

New Relic is great for quickly seeing trends and changes across databases and applications. It is easy to identify problems with performance or load and quickly get to the root cause or at least a step in the right direction to help solve your problem with your infrastructure. It can also be customised to pull in the relevant information.

Cons

We did not find many drawbacks with New Relic aside from the cost which is a little high, it does exactly what it says in and a straightforward way while allowing for customisation.

### "New Relic Review - Experience from Morningstar"

July 25, 2025

5.0

Overall, my experience with New Relic has been very positive. It offers comprehensive observability across applications, infrastructure, and synthetics, enabling quick detection and resolution of performance issues. However- need some fixes in UI bugs/glitches.

Pros

Tech support, easy to use, user friendly. I like how New Relic provides deep visibility into applications and infrastructure through one unified platform. The real-time performance monitoring, powerful alerting, and customizable dashboards make it easy to detect issues quickly and maintain reliability. I also appreciate the ease of integration with cloud providers.

Cons

The incidents do not auto resolve instantly specially for process monitoring. When there are same alerts from different conditions it is not smart enough to not open a separate incident. Occasional Lag: Rare delays in metrics during high load.

### "Using New Relic to Manage Errors and Monitor Saturation Reports"

January 20, 2025

4.0

I would say that overall, New Relic has been a significant piece of software for our company, given that we manage a mobile app. Spotting early signs of outages or issues will always be a company goal. You can also build multiple cards where you can write queries depending on the user data you need. This helps identify bugs and the users they impact.

Pros

New Relic has been very helpful in tracking saturation reports as well as errors. It helps us build a proactive approach and prevent anything from completely breaking, which would greatly affect user experience.

Cons

The only thing that I don't like about New Relic, at least from what we have in my current company, is the limit on the amount of data that it displays. We can only see 30 days' worth of data, which hinders us from tracking incidents that happened more than a month ago.

### "Providing advance tracking facilities for an application."

January 13, 2025

5.0

I would suggest that they begin with the basics and, from there, learn its advanced features. The documentation is great, and so is the community support.

Pros

I like the fact that it can give very good insights into application performance through real-time monitoring and detailed metrics.

Cons

New Relic has greatly optimized my workflow in that it proactively finds and resolves performance bottlenecks, freeing me to actually focus on the development and innovation of applications.

### "Comparing New relic to datadog."

December 30, 2024

4.0

I feel Every begginner startup at least with rails should at least have the free version of new relic and the upgrade into the paid. Now when scaling and for enterprise, datadog feels more connected when a trace is easier to filter on behaviours, logs, graphs, etc. I doubt we would go to new relic once you're using datadog since I think there's too many dashboards and alerts set up with datadog.

Pros

It's much less expensive than datadog as it's not the same offering. The info on query load, the db explains. I felt it was easier to setup than with datadog. Error tracking I believe is better as well from what I recall.

Cons

I bit obtuse in making clear stuff like appdex. When I used this back in 2018-2021, I was hable to priorize stuff by endpoints by throughput and then looking at slow endpoints. This is much easier looking at service pages in datadog where I can just sort by request count.

### "One of the best product to monitor application in realtime"

July 6, 2023

4.0

I had a great experience with the new relic. I am still using it to monitor my product in real time. It is giving me useful insights about my product in real time

Pros

New Relic offers a comprehensive set of features that can be valuable for businesses. Some of the notable aspects include real-time monitoring capabilities, proactive alerts and notifications, customizable dashboards for data visualization, robust performance metrics and analytics, transaction tracing for granular analysis, and integration with other tools and systems. These features empower businesses to gain deep insights into application performance, troubleshoot issues efficiently, optimize performance, and enhance user experience. New Relic's focus on real-time visibility, comprehensive data collection, and proactive monitoring helps businesses detect and address potential issues promptly, leading to improved application reliability and customer satisfaction.

Cons

the complexity of setting up and configuring the tool for legacy applications. Other than that I can't think of any negative point.

### "Awesome, well rounded real-time monitoring suite"

March 26, 2019

5.0

Pros

This software package does it all! I'm mostly using APM, insights and infrastructure functionality. APM is standard APM, works great. Insights are really interesting - you can figure out some weird issues much easier when you have access to a lot of data - and easy way to process/query it. Infrastructure functionality is great for keeping track of all of your servers.

Cons

Not much. There are two views for errors in APM (old and new one). Sometimes it's a pain to switch between those - hopefully they will get merged soon.

### "An Admins Dream"

April 26, 2019

5.0

Pros

The easy to use interface is one of my favorite parts, especially from administrators point of view. -From the user page, you can quickly see who has or has not accepted an invitation (those who haven't have their email \*starred-out\*). -On that same screen, you can see when someone was last active and understand who is/isn't utilizing the tool regularly. -Creating "teams"/"projects" in incredibly simple. -When adding new users, you see a capabilities preview which is AWESOME (and keeps me from making mistakes).

Cons

When looking at the definitions for ad-on roles, I wish they had a hover feature instead of having to click on a link that opens a new window. Not a huge complaint but it would be nice if it was all on one screen to keep from switching back and forth.

### "New Relic Review"

March 29, 2019

5.0

Pros

Perfect for staying on top of your software and monitoring everything going on with your application and code. Easy setup with AWS, alerts if ever major errors, and logs all errors to specific areas of your codebase.

Cons

User permissions were a bit of an issue for us for a little while but we ended up resolving. Setup was easy for the most part, but it still took a little more time than expected.

### "Simple and intuitive tool with necessary insights for any application"

July 31, 2018

4.0

Pros

Gives simple and detailed performance insights for each part of your application or environment and that too in real-time! Great that it highlights errors and issues down to the line number in the code. Makes the job really simple to troubleshoot and fix issues. Setting up timely email to get updates about the performance is a good feature for managers to have.

Cons

The paid version is too expensive for a medium scale startup like us. It may be worthwhile when looking to scale things up to a great extent. Also the tool may be overwhelming for a new user since it provides loads of information at once. For the free user there's no one to give an onboarding tour or a demo, so that may turn off some new joinees.

### "A very good tool to keep an eye over your app health."

January 27, 2019

5.0

Pros

It is one of the best tools to check the performance of your app. It can help you in checking the performance of different API's or can even tell that which API is making your system slower and you immediately need to optimize that. It also helps in finding out which front-end page is making your app slow by detecting the load time of that page.
