My overall experience with Lavu has been nothing short of excellent. From the very beginning, the system has been user-friendly, reliable, and tailored to fit my business needs. What truly sets Lavu apart, though, is their exceptional customer service. Anytime I had a question or needed assistance, their team responded quickly, professionally, and with a genuine commitment to making sure I was fully supported.

Pros

The system itself is easy to use, and I can't say enough about the customer support! The back office reports are easy to read.

Cons

As far as I know there is no option for early pay out, so I would like to see that available, but other than that I have no complaints.

From the search for a new POS through activation, the only rating I would give Lavu and its staff is 5 stars.

Pros

Lavu is a POS system that is easy to use, has friendly staff that is eager to give help to achieve a great experience. It has a nested system, which allows for exceptional capabilities to modify even the most complex orders. It is only limited to the extremes of your imagination. Support videos make understanding and using Lavu easy from the start. Recommendations by sensitive content hidden\] about Lavu's abilities in hospitalty/restaurant settings, as well as use in his own restaurants, makes Lavu's POS system a product that you confidently want to bring to the table when choosing a new POS system. We were able to have the system live within one week. The support staff called several times to make sure that there were no glitches in our setup process. This is the best experience we have had from the search for a new system, right up to its full utilization. We have received exponentially better service and capabilities for less money than any other POS that we have looked at, or have used previously. We would highly recommend that you look at Lavu for you own POS system. Red Hawk Brewing LTD

Haven't found anything we were not happy with. If we were to have any regrets about Lavu, it would be that we hadn't found their product years ago. Lavu has been the complete opposite of the bad experiences we had with other POS systems

One product never sent a proposal after talking with them. The other cancelled a next in person meeting and gave an impression that they really didn't want to give any support Post Sale.

Poor customer service, problems with receiving payments from daily sales, dropping features and then rolling those features into a "new product" (which was the same product features that we had subscribed to), non fulfillment of online orders (i.e. eGift Cards), and more bad experiences.

Absolutely terrible. They renewed me for a year because they had my credit card on file and never asked my permission. I asked for a refund and they said I was bound to their contract. After paying for the year, they now want to charge me over $400 more for the use of the same software I've paid for. Terrible company, they should be ashamed of themselves, I am anxious to move on from them.

Pros

Initially I liked the layout. It appeared easy to use and simple enough to train people to use quickly.

Cons

Support is terrible- if you speak only English you will have a hard time understanding any of them- and their lack of knowledge about their own products is absolutely atrocious as are their communications. They have tried to over bill me multiple times when the contract renews and you spend hours trying to fight them on it. They added things I did not want and increase fees rapidly.

Cons

My Onboarding Coordinator \[sensitive content hidden\]! Definitely made me feel like I hade a big brother looking out for me! He checked in one m9st nights to make sure all was well and to see if I had any other concerns. I really appreciated his empathy and professionalism. Very patient and polite! Whatever was a concern to me whether big or small, \[sensitive content hidden\] made my business a priority and handled it till I was satisfied!

The people are super helpful and easy to contact. The equipment is nice and everything you need to locate (payroll, employees, tax forms, menu items) are all on one screen.

Everything is on one screen & it's easy to find. Also, everyone was super helpful & easy to contact.

Cons

It's just a new system so takes time to get used too. That's no fault of Lavu though. A little training and practice should fix that!

I feel screwed and alone. No support in any way!

Pros

It is doing the job as a POS system like any other; we did not change it because sadly our staff and management are used to it, but this will change after this year.

Cons

\- No customer support AT ALL, thus claiming to be joinable 24/7. This is totally fake. They only work on office hours (sometimes you speak to somebody from a call center in Calcutta) and outside of this you need to leave a message. - Not transparent on prices: you pay a yearly fee of about $1,000 for basic subscription and on top of that they bill you "Lavu Legacy Hosting USD Every 36 months - Prorated Charges" (+$230/year) supposedly every 36 months as stated on their bill, but you get it every 12 months... + "Surcharge", an opaque line in the same bill. This you receive it after 1 month of your regular yearly subscription, without notice. - Lavu KDS is regularly changing it's IP. Good luck fixing that when you are in the middle of a service and full of hungry clients... (speaking of experience) - No features adapted to life outside of the US, even though customer support spent literally 2 hours with you on the phone (after trying to reach them for 5 days in a row with 12+ hours delay as we are located in Asia) and swearing that your features are going to be added in the near future - The stock management feature is absolutely not working and is not intuitive. We have it since years but are unable to use it - Split bills require your staff to have a post-graduate diploma with 10+ years of practice, super not intuitive - When you are signed out of the POS Lavu and you do not remember your password, they ask you "forgot password?", you click on it and they send you as e-mail with a link to change the password. When you click on this e-mail you will get: "This request URL no longer Exists. Perhaps another request was generated after the initial request." So impossible to log in again without contacting the customer support (remember, they only work 5 days a week and on US schedule) - The list goes on but I guess that you already have a good overview of what you can expect...

Pros

The system does not do what you said it's going to do it doesn't batch out at the end of the day the whole amount of money you have to go in and put zeros in for the tips to get your whole batch out and that was not explained to us when we got this system

Cons

The customer service stinks they don't get back in contact with you in a timely fashion and every time you call they try to avoid your calls

Overall installation went smoothly and I love that the onboarding personnel (\[sensitive content hidden\]) has been so readily available when we have questions.

Pros

We liked the look and feel (user Interface) of the POS and felt it was much like we were used to. We like that the price is reasonable and that we can use a cash discount system so easily.

Cons

Worried about iPad battery life with either charging or having to leave plugged in. There was a lack in direction as to what we needed as a retailer. We may have been able to do with a different unit for one of our locations.

Again they could run the market on the pos world if they would get it together with the lack of truth and accountability for what was said by sales reps. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING.

Pros

They have so much potential if they could get the communication down. It’s been one person says this and one person says that. Basically don’t believe anything they say in the sales pitch unless it’s in crystal clear writing. They will say anything to get the sell.

Everything I said about. The miscommunication and false information.

that they don't have a rotating stand for the ipad to flip it over to the customer for tips, I bought one from amazon and so we are able to do that now

Everything is working smoothly and the system is so easy to operate.

Pros

After going through the set up of a rival product 2 years ago and spending 2 years using that system, onboarding and use of Lavu has been the best experience. The onboarding timeline was great to follow along as we were going through the steps. They were able to create exactly what I wanted for the menus. We had to use a system that is totally usable on WiFi. This caused a couple of headaches during installationb Using the system has been very intuitive. Training our team is super easy.

Cons

For the most part, we haven't had a bad experience. Even with the difficulties installing the 2 wireless printers everyone handled the process and the glitches with professionalism even when it took us 4 hours to get it right.

The customer service at SpotOn was terrible. They didn't have a good solution to our WiFi situation. It was almost impossible to get refunds for our customers. Sometimes it would take in excess of 10 days and multiple emails to get the refund processed. I could do full refunds, but partials had to be done through their customer service team. I would have to include the SpotOn support team, the supervisor and our sales person on every email to get keep them on top of it. Even then I never would hear if things were taken care of by the extra participants on the email.

So far, my experience with Lavu has been great! My on boarding consultant, \[sensitive content hidden\] was absolutely tremendous. She had a lot of patience and explained everything on my level so I was able to understand! I have never had a POS system provider that walked you through step by step on how to hook the equipment up! That was such a relief! Support staff, oh my gosh, they call and check on you the next day to see if everything is working! Wow!

Pros

Initially it was the price that caught my attention. Then the availability to be able to watch tutorials on the product.

Cons

I would have to say, I haven't found anything I don't like yet.

overall Lavu is great. The staff is always looking for ways to improve the system & takes events when they come up and handles them to the best of their ability

Pros

Integration from our old Pos was simple. Being able to add pictures of products or change color of box to help locate the items faster Ability to change prices, product name, add new product with ease. Ability to check/change anything from anywhere is a plus

Cons

When the internet is out, tickets don't print to the kitchen or credit cards aren't able to be run. When happy hour times are up, you can still increase product quantity. Having a large food menu, along with a large bar selection has us set up with several tabs & it makes it hard to be fast entering in orders.

It was a brutal set up that started Sept 20th and was not completed until yesterday. Took hours of work daily since day 1 to put out fires and get everything ironed out the way it should have been done initially. \[sensitive content hidden\] pent countless hours on the phone with me and ultimately saved the day and now we are up and running. She went above and beyond!!! If it wasn't for her we would have lost this deal.

Pros

How simple and easy to use it is. How you can use if you are a brand new start up or a thriving business who is scaling.

Cons

Onboarding process in regards to 3rd party delivery was incomplete which created total chaos for the business owner. \[sensitive content hidden\] saved the day!

I purchased a complete system from LAVU on April 2019 with the intent to upgrade my existing POS from CAKE which served me well the first 4 years of running my restaurant, but being somewhat of a basic system I started feeling like it was holding me back. LAVU was running a 50% off on hardware so I called and spoke to a salesperson. Let me tell you, I wish I had recorded the conversations, as there was very little in common between what was verbally promised and what was actually delivered, VERY LITTLE! Typical sales tactics, they put extreme pressure on you to sign up (do it in the next 6 hours or the promotion expires), give you practically no time to read the fine print, and all of a sudden you find yourself in a 3 years contract with ridicules early termination penalties and a service provider that is incapable of delivering half of what was promised. They count on you not having the time or resources to take them to court. Last remaining hardware piece originally promised arrived 5 months later! Thank god I kept my CAKE system going or I would have gone out of business. Their customer service is of the lowest level you would ever see, especially from an IT company, they provide practically no solutions to issues or a very vague future fix, and their system keeps crashing leaving you with no ability to run your business mid-day and with no warning, time after time. They send you system-wide emails apologizing saying their system was hacked and therefore the interruption i

There are no Pros, this is an awful system and the worst customer service / sales team in the industry

Cons

Be very careful when they offer you interest free financing for the hardware, that's how they trick you into paying the software fee for 3 years in advance with NO way out

Pros

Wow! What a great experience switching to Lavu. After an eight year relationship with Toast we have upgraded to Lavu. As a very busy restaurant and bar we were nervous to make such a big change, especially in the beginning of "our season." We can't say enough wonderful things about our experience with Lavu and their incredible support staff. We got to spend the week with \[sensitive content hidden\] and they confidently and patiently have trained our entire staff. It has been so helpful to have such a hands on experience. Every single question, request, and concern has been handled immediately. The hardware and network are state of the art. Everything works seamlessly without a glitch. Lavu is extremely efficient. We couldn't be happier with the onboarding experience and all the support from \[sensitive content hidden\]

Since we have to say something here, we don't like that they outsource the KDS screens and networking. But they make up for it for sure so it's really not an issue.

I deployed LAVU POS at three of my restaurants several years ago. Initially the basic product was well supported and reasonably easy to use. About the time of the pandemic everything changed. The US based customer support staff disappeared and was replaced by a call center in India, our monthly fees nearly doubled (in the middle of the pandemic!) and LAVU rolled out Menu Drive, an online ordering platform, which we subscribed to. The biggest problem is that there is little to no integration between Menu Drive (which they purchased from a third party) and the LAVU POS. So any changes you make to pricing or item availability on your POS will not show up in Menu Drive. This was extremely frustrating. Menu Drive itself appears a very rough and amateurish clunky and visually unappealing effort. In addition to the constant frustrations with MenuDrive, we began to have major problems with printers randomly going offline several times a day. My managers made endless calls to the LAVU customer support center in India, often waiting hours to get through. On the rare occasions that they were able to reach someone the solutions offered were basic and ineffective. Several times we had to close the restaurant because we were unable to keep LAVU operational for an entire day. Between the lack of customer support, the inherently low level of design/functionality in both LAVU POS and Menu Drive, the relativly high monthly cost, I would say avoid at all costs!

Pros

Not much to like here. It is overpriced, underdeveloped, and largely unsupported.

Cons

1\. The online platform (Menu Drive) and the POS are totally unintegrated. They were built by different companies and don't communicate. 2. Effectively (in our experience) there is no customer support. There is a call center in India but you may have to wait hours on hold and the limit of their technical expertise seems to be, "try turning it off and then on again." 3. Our salesperson quit responding to calls and email right after the sale was made and only resurfaced when there was yet another new LAVU product to try to sell to us.

Processing is a little pricey than most competitors. Took way too long to set up, but once it is ready to go we like it. We will see how it is live with the restaurant, I cannot say how that will turn out yet since we are not open yet.

Pros

Features, easy to use and price is fair. Just wish we could purchase our own iPad. I like how it is open sourced with any other company as well most competitors are limited with that.

Cons

Customer service was horrendous with employees being fired or no one following up with meetings. Webgot shuffled to the side and delayed our restaurant to get ready. Basically something that was told us in sales vs real life was very different. Onboarding took about 5 months vs what was told us 3 weeks. In all fairness, we had Nazia that took over the account and did an amazing job. Rest of teams we talked to seemed they were not trained well, or rotating staff.

Reason for choosing Lavu

Features, price and sales person said everything we wanted with features.

Fantastic!! Editing my menu has never been so easy!!

Pros

Ease of use and service so far. No problems so limited need for service. But when we call fast and efficient!!

Cons

We chose to only have payment devices on the stations and not on the iPad case due to added cost. Now wonder if we should have gone with all.

We have been long time user who appreciates the continued development and support over the years.

Pros

Ability to utilize Tab Order as location default during initial deployment in 2014.

Cons

Level of customization in front end user configuration. Scheduling and management notes are undeveloped in reports
