Pros: HyperResearch is a qualitative data analysis application (QDA) for coding and analysis of text, video and audio data. It is the the only major QDA that allows users to install on more than 2 computers. This allows user, for example, to install on a full-size PC at home, on a notebook, and on a Windows tablet. This way, you can code PDF articles or other text on your tablet in a coffee shop, on the subway, and later at home on a powerful full-size PC.

Students take note: the student licenses on other major QDA apps are very restrictive and generally end when you can no longer prove you are a student. That means you'll lose access to the research projects that you worked on for so many years. HyperResearch's student license is not time-restricted and so is a far better choice for students.

Cons: HyperResearch is a complex program and you'll need to spend quite a bit of time learning how to use it. I found it somewhat difficult to find tutorials (especially video tutorials) on HyperResearch, especially regarding the use of its more advanced features. However, the support staff at HyperResearch are very helpful and have provided fast and helpful responses to all of my questions.

Overall: HyperResearch 4 is less expensive than the other major QDA software developers and has a far less restrictive license. I have it installed on my desktop, my laptop, and on a tablet so I can code/analyze documents wherever I want.

HyperResearch has allowed me to undertake the coding and analysis of several large qualitative data projects.
