Pros: I like everything about it. It is user friendly, if you need help the support team is exceptional. Notes are professional and clear, easy to read, treatment plans are wonderfully easy and all you need for notes are available for documentation. Their billing is easy and support is a phone call or email away. I have used the product for 3 years plus and have never had a bad experience with the company. It keeps confidentiality, and ease of keeping client information in a safe place.

Cons: There isn't anything I don't like about this software.

Overall: Excellent company

I have been with Therapy Notes for over three years and have never had a bad experience with the product or the service. They go above and beyond to make sure you as a provider or user have the help and support you need. They are constantly making improvements in the software and they make taking care of the paperwork end of business so easy. I have had pleasant and great experiences every time I call their support team with questions. No question is left unanswered nor are they too trivial. They try to make the product as user friendly as possible and are there to guide you through it all. I love that my notes are professional and easily read, all information that needs to be in them are there, I once got audited on a couple of clients by Medicaid and it was so easy to pull up what I needed and get it sent in. Passed with flying colors because all that I needed was in the note format. My clients all get a reminder text or call and they love it. I appreciate all the hard work they do on their end to make this a top of the line product for those of us on the front lines with clients. Billing is easy and user friendly. i would and have recommended this company to anyone looking for a good safe and professional product to help you in keeping documentation and billing orderly and consistent with expectations of our fields of practice. Thank you Therapy Notes!

Disappointed after 3 years with the platform

Pros: Good documentation management. Well-designed for use with families and minors. Billing features met my needs as a practitioner not accepting insurance.

Cons: Infrastructure problems abound with TN. There was a multi-day service outage in the summer of 2017, with little communication from the company to customers during the outage and no compensation for the downtime. In December 2017/January 2018, I finally lost my patience with the platform when the company decided to implement a major change in the database mid-week and the database upgrade destabilized the platform resulting in more downtime. Regarding the software... Your notes will be top-quality notes, but they will take you forever to write because the workflow is overly rigid. There is no way to customize what questions are asked in intake notes, progress notes, termination notes, etc. Text fields are too small, and only unformatted text is permitted. File attachments cannot be added to notes. There is currently no way to use the patient portal to have clients fill out forms, pay bills, send/receive documents, and perform secure messaging. No mobile app. No two-way sync with calendars means constantly having to check two calendars. 10 MB limit on file uploads. I was on the platform for almost 3 years and saw only very minimal feature enhancements/additions. And get ready for a very poor user experience when you decide to leave the platform; plan to basically download thousands of resources manually with no help from the dev team. When I sent feedback to the dev team on my way out, they defended their poor design choices and offered kludgy workarounds rather than listen.

Pros: Notes are easy to enter for a busy practice. I love the features of uploading old paper charts for storage (other programs don't allow this). The feature of customizing procedure codes and interventions are a great option. The system is extremely easy to use. The to do list section is great for seeing notes that you may have forgotten to write, to notify you when a treatment plan is due, and to remind you to discharge clients who are no longer active. This is been extremely helpful to keep charts current. The ability to log in from other computers helps for accessing client information in a crisis without needing to go to the office. When I get requests for charts, I can easily download notes to fax or email without problems. The feature of generating client statements helps save a lot of time.

Cons: Being a small practice, I don't have funds for purchasing billing services in addition to the system, so I was disappointed in the billing fee being per submission rather than a flat rate. If a flat rate was offered for billing integration this might be resolved for smaller offices. It would also be helpful to generate customizable letters to clients for reoccuring situations such as discharge notice and missed appointments. There is also no way to generate client numbers within the system, so I currently have to keep a seperate excell document to generate client numbers (i.e. automatically assigning numbers when entering a new client). I also would like to have a billing documents section to scan copies of EOB statements that is seperate from the clinical chart. Current there is not way to integrate credit card processing within the system, but is a possible future feature.

Overall: Overall I am very happy with the system and recommend it for practices of all sizes. The pros out weight the cons. Most of the negatives I have found are potential future features. There is already a plan to integrate appointment reminders to clients, which will be a great time saver. I have found updates to the system to occur very quickly and good follow through on promised features. They owners are definitely motivated to keep customers happy when able.

Thanks for the great feedback. Yes, future planned futures will definitely assist with some of the items you mentioned and you are right that appointment reminders are coming very soon! (FYI, I'm typing this on 10/24/12. If you are from the future, we may already have this feature. Check the web site to find out!)

Pros: The software is pretty easy to use and set it up to what works best for your practice/office. I have trained many people on Therapy Notes since we started using it in February of 2016. The software is intuitive and learning the ins and outs is not too time consuming. I like it much, and I mean MUCH, better than our previous software program.

Cons: There are a few items that we would like to see such as being able to set up a client with more than one provider, and have the software bill insurance for one provider, but allow another provider to be self-pay with no insurance. The other really big item would be to add a comments section on the actual billing page. While we can make comments on the billing settings page, it would make sense to also allow comments on the billing page, where our providers are more likely to look. There are a few tweaks here and there that I'd love to push for, but all in all it's a great program.

Overall: For me personally, and we have four offices filled with providers, Therapy Notes has enough options to fit the majority of our needs. I appreciate the quick support feedback. That's an important feature to me as a manager. I also appreciate their quick updates when there is an issue with the program, which is going to happen in any program one uses. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, they keep all of their users up-to-date in real time. I think Therapy Notes is a really good program and I would recommend it to anyone in this industry.

Comments: I cannot recommend this produce. I raved about them three years ago, but now they care more about profit and covering their butts, than any customers!

Pros: Many of the features are easy to use, such as the notes and scheduling. Billing can also be easy if the insurance company accepts payment from TherapyNotes clearinghouse. Best feature by far is the reminder texts to clients!

Cons: The company has grown exponentially, at the customer's expense! They've switched building, added new staff, moved servers and replaced servers, added features, but the quality has suffered and the mistake have been adding up! I get lots of excuses, but no apologies! TherapyNotes servers crash oftens and I've lost notes several times! They have also been hacked and allow access to their internal system putting my records at risk. I could not get access to any client data for 3 days! Totally Unacceptable!! This month they made me accept a new privacy agreement (or not have access to my client data) that indemnified them from any responsibility for any errors or lost data or any hack and illegal use of our client data. I went to log-in on a Monday and the website said, sign our new agreement or you cannot access any of your files, data, schedules...nothing... that's holding my records for random!

Comments: Therapy Notes is the most Outstanding clinical documentation & billing software system I have ever used. It's "Ease of Use" is exceptional. But during times it may be difficult to solve your problem on your own, TN has a Rapid Customer Service Response Time (typically 24 or less via email), in addition to a vast array of Tutorials to access that are clearly written and easy to follow on just about every topic imaginable. I love having access to a knowledge-based library this comprehensive that I can utilize at times I need to look up a quick procedure I had forgotten or for when I need an answer quicker than it may take for TN to respond (NOTE: I'm referring to an email response!) You do have the option of calling the TN support team and receiving instant customer service from a friendly, patient TN support representative. One thing I love is that in the 4-5 short months I've been using TN, I've had to contact Support for a number of matters, as I am a new, first time practice owner. It's very comforting to be greeted by or responded to by the same set of people on staff to assist me. The consistent low turn over rate says a lot about the management of a company and the staff at TN genuinely make me feel as if they're getting to know me and my company/account personally. Some of the actual features that has made my job easier by switching to Therapy Notes is their multiple drop down menu features for Clinical Interventions, or the History drop down tap, which you can click on during a session with your Client to instantly review their status from their last session. Scheduling is a breeze, Billing is effortless and the Patient Portal is exceptional. The features are endless and I can't rave about it enough. Not to mention, they take ALL suggestions for improvement into consideration and actually respond to those requests with gratitude while providing you feedback on your request. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SIMPLE, YET THOROUGH AND COMPREHENSIVE SYSTEM DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSION, THEN THERAPY NOTES IS THE ONE TO CHOOSE. HANDS DOWN, IT HAS MADE MY JOB SIMPLER AND HAS FREED UP VALUABLE TIME IN MY LIFE THAT I CAN NOW ALLOCATE TO MY FAMILY OR OTHER AREAS OF INTEREST. STOP RESEARCHING NOW! I personally signed up for the 30 day free trial to 5 or 6 different systems simultaneously when trying to make my choice as to which company to use. THERAPY NOTES IS ALL YOU NEED. Enjoy!

Pros: Great customer service, easy to use, intuitive, sleek

Cons: There are some major issues that business owners should be aware of. While the program itself is sleek, user friendly, intuitive, and encompassing. Some major issues include accounting inaccuracies. The most costly one for business owners is that any refund issued to a client, or a redacted payment by insurance, is only reflected on the actual date of service. So if you have already paid your therapist months ago for that session, and pull an income report for this current payperiod, in which you issued the refund, you will not find it. It gets deducted, on paper, from the therapists income at the date of service, not the date it was issued. So you can't easily deduct the refund back from the therapists pay using their accounting features. Another major issue is diffulty navigating the calendar if you are scheduling for many therapists at once. We have 12 therapist and there is no way for the system to identify regular openings on a therapists scheduled without looking at them one by one on a week view of multiple therapists on a day view but you still must scroll through week to week to make sure it is a consistent opening if you like to schedule that way. Our previous system would allow us to search slots by selecting AM, Afternoon, PM and Morning, Day, Evening and it would present all the options available like "12 upcoming slots on wed. at 9AM with Sam, for example. This one is extremely cumbersome when locating slots. We made several attempts at working with TN to resolve these issues but after over a year they are still not even in the queue. They roll out lots of little stuff but the big things don't seem to ever make the list.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are a serious business owner consider that these things may cost you considerable time and money in the long run.

Pros: Therapy Notes has been the best thing we have done for our practice. It has saved time, money and space. I own a group practice and we are able to have multiple clinicians using the system at the same time. TherapyNotes will automatically do the billing with one click once the client information is entered and the note is finished. The notes are extremely user-friendly and easy to use. The notes can definitely be filled out between sessions to maximize your time. There is also no need for bulky file cabinets as all of the client documents can be scanned and entered into the system. It is very user-friendly, even my most technology challenged clinician can use it at ease. Also, the customer service is amazing. You can ask them any question and they will answer it, usually within a few minutes, at most a few hours. I would recommend this product to any clinician who wants to keep his or her sanity and time. Everything is all in one place and life is much more streamlined for sure! This product has literally saved my practice.

Cons: The thing that I like least is that there is no client portal, which means clients cannot log in to schedule appointments or change them. We have our website set up so that clients can book their own appointments and we must use Full Slate to do this, so it means we must constantly go back and forth to the two sites in order to keep our calendar. Other than that, it is great and hopefully they will have the client portal up and running really soon.

Recommendations to other buyers: Try it. Once you get all of the client information into the system you will love it. It takes a while to transfer all of the information from your paper files to the TherapyNotes system, but once you do you will love it. It is worth the monthly fee.

Pros: My pros for Therapynotes are: user-friendly for staff and clinicians; different degrees of accessibility for users as set up by the administrator; most of the office's working can be assess in Therapynotes (such as patient reminders, different levels of accounting, and patient files); good availability to the company for support which has been friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt; easy insurance billing, quick and efficient remit processing, easy entry and manageability of insurance companies, CPT codes, and other billing codes; patient progress notes are in a usable and a nicely tailored format for mental health usage, and diagnoses are generated when you begin to type it in versus having to know the ICD 10 codes.

Cons: My cons are: would like a better querying system or means of searching patient information quickly and easily, sometimes the system runs slowly or seemingly gets bogged down for several hours.

Overall: This is a very good software that deals with most all of my company's needs in a user-friendly format with very good customer service.

Comments: Therapy Notes, after I have tried many other versions of therapist practice billing softwares is hands down the number one software billing program in my book. As a PhD psychotherapist in private practice since 1977 in Manhattan and Westport CT and supervisor of private practice clinicians since 1984, I highly recommend Therapy Notes for all your Private Practice Psychotherapist needs!

Pros: Excellent software for billing and staying HIPPAA compliant while doing so. It guarantees that before you bill, all your necessary notes and compliances are in complete order. This software is a must for the Professional Therapist who has a new or established practice, especially if you have been in provate practice for many years already

Cons: It takes a few minutes to fill out the necessary HIPPAA compliant notes before you can bill. This can be burdensome when you are seeing more than 25 patients a week. However, it only takes 5 minutes or less to fill out each standard session note. The initial intake note and treatment plan for a new person you are seeing can take as much as 15 minutes to fill out once you are acquainted with it.

Pros: There's a lot to like. Unlike the EHR at my previous agency, TherapyNotes.com speaks actual psychologist lingo and seems to include nothing unnecessary. Lately, they've provided free one-credit continuing education courses about ethics, attachment, mindfulness, and other relevant topics. I queried whether they could seek APA-accreditation for the CEU's (in addition to the already-in-place NBCC-accreditation) in order to meet my state's requirements, and customer service replied that they *already* have an application submitted with APA. I've requested that with other CEU providers in the past and have gotten a negative response...so I'm especially thankful for TherapyNotes.com!

Cons: Over the last two years, there are a few tweaks I have suggested to customer service for the program to better meet my needs (and probably the needs of many others) in terms of functionality. I haven't seen any of my suggestions implemented yet.

Pros: I most appreciate the organization the software provides. From running revenue reports to scheduling patient appointments, it keeps my time on the computer minimal and efficient. Customer Support has also been helpful on a number of occasions when I've called in to ask questions or get directions on performing a specific task.

Cons: In the two plus years I've been using TherapyNotes, the system has shut down a total of two times (that I can remember). Even though it was inconvenient at the time, I was impressed with the communication from the company to its users and their efforts to get things back up and running. This is why I decided to continue using the software. Their response to system glitches (which are extremely rare) is prompt and always involves an email or message from their Facebook page.

Overall: Using TherapyNotes.com allows me to confidently run my business, especially since I handle billing, scheduling, and documentation, in addition to providing the service. Thanks TherapyNotes!

Pros: TherapyNotes is a great program for small providers who are needing to move to EHR/EMD. The interface is easy to follow, and the support team is easy to work with and great in resolving issues. I have recommended this platform to numerous peers and colleagues in the Mental Health Counseling or Psychotherapy fields.

Cons: Things I wish it had, like some of the larger software programs are:

1. Dashboard view for Supervisors and Administrators to notify them of any documentation that may be nearing required time frames for submission, and of any upcoming treatment plans, etc.

2. The ability to modify documentation templates to meet the specific need of the provider.

3. The ability to have billing modifiers automatically generate with a service claim, as currently you have to enter these prior to billing for each claim being submitted. In my small Outpatient practice, all users have a "HO" modifier that has to be added to every service claim. It would be nice if the TherapyNotes program implemented a process that would generate that code based on the professional providing the service.

These three items are personal "wants", but considering the cost and ease of use, they are minor compared to the great product that is being delivered by TherapyNotes.

Comments: It should change its color or show a way when clients check in, so doctors/clinicians can know when there clients are here. -Have an easier way for showing what payments(date of payment, how it was disbursed) went to clients who have past balances. Hard to calculate when you have a client face to face asking you questions in regards to that. The print out for the receipts for the clients is very confusing for them as well because its not showing where there payment was applied too. -We have over 30 Clinicians, they obviously cant fit on one screen with there appointments, but they are taken completely off the page that you have to go into each one individually, maybe have a scroll bar at the bottom to just move for easier access to viewing there schedule for the day and checking in and out there clients.

Pros: Easy program to understand That we can search by phone number Reminder set up is very convenient, reminder on over all account and reminder by just that appointment. Great!

Pros: Creating progress notes (option to select from history)

Submitting claims

Scheduling and email reminders

To many to list!

Cons: Nothing. Why do I have to put something down if I have nothing bad to say?

Overall: I'd been holding off on reviewing Therapy Notes for nearly 2 years now because I've had this feeling that the moment I do, i'd jinx it. The truth is that I have not had a single bad experience with Therapy Notes since I got started. They have been so considerate. They understood that I although I needed a quality method of writing my notes, scheduling and submitting claims, I was also starting out - setting up my practice in a new city; and they took that into consideration in their pricing.

Prior to Therapy Notes, I did my notes myself. Can I just say, it was HECTIC and time consuming. Now, note-taking and scheduling as well as submitting claims, are a breeze. Therapy Notes has surely made my work easier - to say the least.

Special shout out to team. It's simply awesome! Very kind, patient and polite, never failed me and I bet she never will.

Pros: I can't say enough great things about TherapyNotes, LLC. I am a licensed psychologist who has been in private practice for 10 years. I switched from a paper system to TherapyNotes about two years ago. At first I was worried that the adjustment would be rough on an "old-schooler" like me, but the transition was smooth and I found the platform very user friendly. I love that TherapyNotes integrates my calendar, to-do list, notes and billing - it helps me to keep organized and on top of my practice. The progress note template provided is quick and easy to complete yet thorough. If you're looking to change to an electronic record keeping system, I would highly recommend TherapyNotes, LLC.

Cons: I honestly like everything about this program. If there was something I had to complain about, it would be that I don't know how to use all the features of this program; specifically the billing features and the client portal. That is not the programs fault though...that is a user error:)

Overall: Moving from a paper system to an electronic record keeping system.

Increased efficiency in my record keeping.

Pros: The system is easy to learn. They have great options such as the automatic reminder system this helps cut down on individual calling. The new patient portal option seems to be helpful.

Cons: The system does not have a option to print multiples schedules at one time. We have 15 therapist and we have to print their schedules individually. Therapist do not have the option to see their billing totals to keep track. When using the portal you still have to call, schedule, and send paperwork.

Thanks for the 9/10 review, Starlene! Perhaps you can avoid printing schedules at all by using the calendar sync feature so that clinicians can see their schedules on their smart phones? There is a setting to give therapists limited billing access so they can see their billing totals. We are working on more portal improvements, as you know, so a lot more is coming! Please call or email support if you want to follow up on any of these items. Thanks again!

Comments: I've been using TherapyNotes for a year. The improvements over time make the program easier to use, which only improves my satisfaction. With the note taking template I find my practice to be more goal oriented, as opposed to "problem du jour," and the ability to print out professional looking Intake Evals, notes and billing records provides very professional looking communication. I was skeptical that I had the brain to do billing, but the features of this program are intuitive and the phone support is so patient and knowledgeable, that even I can pull this off without hiring a biller. The price is quite reasonable. I was paying a lease fee that was a quarter to a third of what I was making at a group practice. The text message reminders are effective and scheduling portal saves me time on the phone. I have only had one person miss an appointment. TherapyNotes allows me to practice in a rural, underserved population without having a long commute to make my living. I feel a sense of satisfaction every time I use it. It's almost like having your own staff in a tablet! I use an iPad and a jet pack. I have a laptop for downloading the Electronic Funds Transactions that are not yet automatic. The service is reliable. It's never not come through and the system always responds.

Pros: Ease of use

Cons: You really should have some basic education in billing. It won't take much time, but knowing basic terms and the limits of billing codes is important .

Comments: Due to the frequency in which this program has problems and I can not get my data or enter my notes, it has become a greater burden to my practice than a benefit when they take days or even weeks to fix problems.

Pros: Great system when operational. The system is all inclusive and allows for notes, billing, and scheduling in all one centralized confidential location.

Cons: In the past year the system was hacked and shut down for several days while they had to repair, rebuild, and relaunch the entire program. VERY frequently the system is ridiculously slow, making it impossible to make notes in between appointments because it will not pull up client names and file or even the schedule. When you are relying on the program to run you practice, it cripples your day or week when it doesn't run properly. I understand that a system like this is going to have to be maintained and occasional glitches, however, the frequency to which this is happening over the past year is getting worse and interfering with my practice operations!

Pros: I love the support and the professional quality of Therapy Notes. I have tried most of the programs for therapist billing and practice out there today and Therapy Notes stands head and shoulders above the rest. Having been in practice for 40 years now, I hope to be able to continue for the next few decades with Therapy Notes as my professional companion.

Cons: THe software demands that you write a session note before submitting any sessions for payment from insurance companies and patients. However, this insures that the therapist is doing everyhting legally since session billing, according to all state licensure regulations, can only be billed following documentation of the session.

Overall: Greatest efficiency of appointment scheduling and billing as well as accurate documentation of all therapy sessions

Comments: After this recent malware attack, they will be stronger and better prepared than most companies out there providing Electronic Medical Records.

Pros: The product is extremely well written, with all the functionality that you need in a private practice or a group practice. It is also extremely easy to use. Customer service is excellent all well. It was written by a group of experienced software engineers, and the main developer/owner is married to a psychologist! This is probably one of the reasons it is so comprehensive, they both are experts in the respective fields and know what was needed at the onset.

Cons: There are a couple of features I would like to see added, and they have taken my suggestions and they are functions they have considered adding in the future, which is nice to know.

Pros: We love your program. It has resulted in the biggest change in our office for the past ten years. I love the document uploads and its ease of use.

Jordan West researched and reviewed many software programs before being introduced to therapy notes. It has resulted

¿¿¿ Simplification in our practice

¿¿¿ Decreased paperwork. We scan and drop all documentation into each client file reducing the need to handle client files. We have gone nearly paperless due to therapy notes.

¿¿¿ It is easy to navigate.

¿¿¿ Ease of auditing clinician files have improved record keeping. It was a nightmare each month to complete audits on client files.

¿¿¿ Time and energy saving. Documentation may be completed at home or at the office

¿¿¿ Training requirements are minimal. HIPAA standards are in place which allows clinicians to have confidence in documentation.

¿¿¿ Great Support Staff.

Cons: ¿¿¿ Lack of call reminder feature

¿¿¿ Payroll feature per session rather than by revenue

¿¿¿ Clinician information section

Overall: I recommend this program to everyone small or large agencies. It meets and surpasses all expectations for a documentation program. The interfacing is clean and efficient. Scheduler is a breeze. Record keeping is amazing. When I meet with other organizations I suggest they take a look at this wonderful and timely program.

Our State Licensing Auditor reported it was her easiest audit due to the ease in navigation of Therapy Notes. The only suggestion she has is for us to have a clinician section where all license, insurance, etc. could be accessible while auditing each clinician. Even the State Auditor loves Therapy Notes.

Comments: Overall, this is a great product. Customer support is second to none, I'd recommend this solution to any private practice owner.

Pros: This EMR is as user-friendly as they come. Set up and integration are quite simple, scheduling is a breeze, and EDI claim submission requires little more than a click of the mouse. If you own a small to medium sized counseling practice, I highly recommend this product. TherapyNotes is a no-frills, cost effective solution for any practice owner looking to simplify scheduling and billing functions.

Cons: What Therapy Notes offers in ease of use, it equally lacks in reporting and analytics. If you are looking for detailed metrics at your finger tips, this is not the EMR for you. I will add that the Excel-savvy user can render useful data from TherapyNotes, but it does require a significant amount of manipulation if you wish to gain deeper insights into your practice.

Pros: Easy to use the very first time; doesn't require a lot of software knowledge

I really love the program because their technical support is very helpful especially with helping me figure out billing procedures. One service representative gave me additional advice on what to include with mailing billing to major insurance company to get reimbursed (he went beyond what other software companies have provided me in the past)

Cons: Need to include Objectives in progress notes; sometime don't want to include but maybe they'd help if i were audited. If TherapyNotes would provided additional references on building and creating Objectives, I'd be willing to pay additional fees.

Easy to use. Behind in technology. Does not deliver on product enhancements.

Pros: Friendly customer service. Easy to use and easy on the eyes. Never an issue with access. Great system for interns.

Cons: Unable to put forms on patient portal as promised (almost a year ago). Slow with feature updates/enhancements. Limitation on what users can customize to fit needs (service type, appt duration vs reserved time slot, use of word patient vs client on portal layout, no field to ask for insurance info on portal, pt access to forms via portal, advance ICD search option to allow flexibility with search)

Overall: Easy to use.

Pros: The software is simple to understand. Easy note writing, billing, scheduing and reminders to clients. Everything I need is right in one place. What I like the best is that it always works. If I have a question the support people are AMAZING and helpful and quick to respond with clear correct information on how to solve my issue. I feel very well supported. I have no patience for technical issues and with Therapy Notes I know I will be able to get any answers I need. The best part is that it is rare that I even have a question because the system works so well.

Cons: I honestly can't think of anything I don't like about Therapy Notes.

Pros: It is easy to use, keeps me on track and when my docs are reviewed by the insurance companies they have never made suggestions about how I could improve my documentation or that I am missing something important like timely tx plans, interventions etc.

Cons: Sometimes the spell check dictionary needs to be edited for people adding misspelled words.

Overall: I love TN because I can do all of my documentation and billing at the end of each visit. I don't need a clerical staff, billing service or an exchange service. I can be a one person business and spend my time on my work with patients. Also, the Technical Help staff if really knowledgeable re: billing, coding, documentation etc. and have been able to get me through even the most gnarly issues.

Pros: Very happy with this program and I evaluated a lot. It is easy to use and keeps one focused on meeting client goals. The risk assessment conducted at each assessment would stand up in a coroners court if ever needed. I am thoroughly impressed with all contact I have had with the producers of this program. They have made individual changes where possible as requested and maintained contact to advise of changes that will take a while to implement (e.g., international sms reminder function; change of time zone). Ticks all my boxes.

Cons: The American date system took a bit of getting used to and if I was tired, would worry I could enter the wrong date. Also the sms feature for international is still being investigated. I would like to see some additional on board tools such as the DASS rating scale, Audit etc; however the interpretive reports can be uploaded. The Cons are really just teething problems and I have found the owners to be VERY receptive to constructive feedback and ideas on how to improve - if they don't have it, mention it to them and they will look at the possibilities.

Overall: Excellent program - diary and note recording system. Clearly identified goals in notes section. Owners always open to suggestions for improvement and will bend over backwards to do what they can to meet your individual needs. Highly recommend you give it a trial, you won't look back.

Pros: TherapyNotes has the best screen layout to be able to use across a laptop, tablet and smartphone. I was already saving a lot in going out on my own and leaving a counseling center where a large portion of my monthly fees were going to pay for receptionist and billing. Now, I can do all of that on my own in a much quicker and cheaper fashion. With the latest addition of a client portal, my time and be spent even wiser in helping clients rather than responding to so many emails, texts and phone calls about scheduling issues. This by far is the greatest addition to the software for me.

Cons: With the addition of the client portal, this software is fully functioning for my needs like never before.

Recommendations to other buyers: Jump in, take it slow, learn one section at a time, but don't hesitate. TherapyNotes is so easy to learn, and their customer support has been one of the best I have ever interacted with. There is a lot to learn, but give yourself a good 4-6 months learning one thing at a time. In the end you will not regret the transition to electronic filing, scheduling and note taking.

My practice is so much easier now.

Pros: I love the way that billing and charting are integrated; once my notes are done, I am only a few clicks away from my billing being done. What a relief. I also like that some of the tasks that used to be onerous, e.g. submitting records for disability reviews, printing out billing history, etc... are now just a matter of minutes to perform. This is a great value for the price.

Cons: I really don't have any things that I do not like about the software. Honestly, this is the least stressful or frustrating part of my practice, and it mitigates so many other stresses.

Hi Stephanie, Thank you for the review. We have a dozen full time developers working on TherapyNotes. Some features take months to develop, so although there's a new version about every 2 weeks, it only includes the work that is ready to be released. We expect to release many new features in 2017. Your review isn't clear on what features you are looking for, so be sure to send them to support if you haven't already. We hope we will earn a 5-star review from you over time.

Pros: The layout and visual element is easy on the eyes and very organized. It is very easy to use. Customer service is very quick to respond to questions, and is very helpful in most cases.

Cons: The server has been down several times in the past 2 years, once for almost a week. Huge deal. The credit card processing is awful. They use a third-party company who charges WAY more than the TherapyNotes quote. I did get a small refund, but customer service basically defended the company and made excuses. There are cheaper alternative to TherapyNotes.

Comments: I love TherapyNotes. I couldn't be happier with this software. I used several EHRs and this one is, by far, the best. It is easy to use. Therapynotes allows the user to see all the information needed at the time of the session the check a client in, take insurance payments and reschedule follow-up appointments. Plus, you get it all for a great price. Excellent support staff, too. They offer a free 30 day trial, so you can lose.

Pros: Easy to use. Written by therapists for therapists. Calendar, clinical documentation, and billing all in one system. You don't have to be tech savvy to use this EHR.

Cons: More analytics. I feel that TherapyNotes would benefit from having more robust reporting features. I think they'll get there eventually.

Comments: We have been using Therapy Notes at my small private practice for almost 1 year. Almost every day- we say "that's Therapy Notes for you"- with absolute astonishment! In starting a private practice you there are a lot of decisions to make and some of them you have to make twice- because your first decision wasn't right. We went through that with our phone service- it was a nightmare. However, with Therapy Notes, we have been continually amazed at how much they have to offer us and their beautiful product. It is truly amazing. My office manager was the one who decided that we were going to put our schedule in therapy notes. Brilliant idea- we can schedule simultaneously - and send text reminders. I can't say enough great things about this product and all that it has to offer for a growing practice!

Pros: Everything!

Cons: There aren't any that I know of!

Recommendations to other buyers: Stop struggling with paper- and make your life much easier... try Therapy Notes. What other company would offer a month for free? Seriously, after 30 days you will be sold!

Pros: Extremely well thought out user interface that has been clearly made with therapists in mind--particularly for individual and group therapy practices. It seamlessly interfaces scheduling, calendar, client profile, billing, and notes in a way that is effortlessless to learn--highly intuitive. It's also the type of software that scales for expansion of your client base and even expansion of clinicians who may be working for you and with you. Even after spending multiple years using another EHR, I felt at home transitioning to TherapyNotes within a matter of days

Cons: There are few general dislikes. This is a well thought through product. Some suggestions: having a drag and drop feature to move a rescheduled appointment from one day/time slot to another.

Pros: Value for the money....you will not regret making the switch. It also sends out email appointment reminders which has drastically cut down on my no-shows, forgotten appts, cancellations, etc. That in of itself saves me money each month and makes up for the cost of the software.

Cons: It is labor intensive in the beginning to input all of your clients, info, scan intake docs, etc. Once it is set up there is no going back.

Overall: I love this software. It has made my note taking and charting so easy and seemless. I have up-to-date treatment plans, one-click Super Bills, and an active to-do list. Amazing. I have recommended it to all of my colleagues.

Pros: TherapyNotes is easy to use, has great pre-formatted intake, progress and treatment plan notes, and makes it simple to set up my billing for almost all of my insurances and payers. I love the automated reminders feature, and so do my therapy participants. I can port my calendar to Google calendar, and it does so without violating HIPAA. There are lots of different financial and billing reports to help me keep track of things. And honestly I haven't even used all of the features yet. Also, they have *great* customer service. I am planning to incorporate and expand within the next year and I will continue to use TherapyNotes as I do so.

Cons: Compared to some on the market, it's a bit pricy. I wish they had an affiliate program so I could get paid for advertising them on my website. I wish they had a couple of additional EFT clearinghouses, as a couple of my payers don't use Emdeon. I wish it had an offline mode for outages.

Recommendations to other buyers: Call and ask. Read the forums. Create a test patient and try things out.

Comments: I manage a clinic of up to 8 therapists seeing as many as 100 clients/week. TherapyNotes makes that oversight process not only easy, but actually fun. TherapyNotes offers a superb user experience. The pages are attractive and load quickly. The workflow is intuitive--from intake, to charting, to scheduling, to billing and payment tracking. As a supervisor of 6 interns, I especially appreciate the excellent supervisory oversight functionality. The automatic "to do" list helps me ensure that I, and all my staff, are keeping up with our charting and billing responsibilities.

There's a few bits of functionality I wish the product offered. For instance, as a training facility we often do co-therapy, but there's no way to schedule an appointment with more than 1 clinician (other than to schedule 2 appointments -- one with each. The problem with that solution is that the patient would then get 2 reminders -- one for each therapist's appointment, even tho there's really only one appointment. Also, we have to go in and "cancel" the extra appointment after the fact so it doesn't look like a no-show, which is just added work).

Also, we often do family therapy and the patient set up doesn't make it easy to connect different patients into 1 treatment unit for couple's or family therapy. You can add family names as "contacts" but not connect records together.

I'm looking forward to the launch of a patient portal.

We would also love a referral's portal, where frequent referring professionals could log in and transmit referrals electronically.

But even with this punch list of wants, we are very pleased with TherapyNotes.

Comments: Use TherapyNotes if you're in behavioral mental health. This system is great!

Pros: This system was designed for mental health providers. It's an incredible EHR. The clinical notes are easy to use. The system is predictive. The calendar and billing features are what set it apart from other EHRs.

Cons: I'd like to see TherapyNotes develop more reporting features. I'd also like to see them add e-prescribing. It's a robust system otherwise.

Pros: TherapyNotes is easy to use, and is thoughtfully designed software for private practice psychotherapy therapists. I have used many other similar systems, and it is very difficult to find software that can beat their (continually growing) list of features and impressive customer support.

To Pros:

-Stellar customer support

-Continual innovation and implementation of new features

-Good value for the money.

-Almost 100% reliability/uptime.

-Integration of customer feedback as they refine features and develop new ones.

Cons: I found very few negative things to say about TherapyNotes:

-No easy way to move data from previous practice management system. This wasn't a hugely complicated feat, but was very time consuming.

-The "help"/FAQ section could be more developed for when you'd like to search for answers yourself.

Overall: I have recommended TherapyNotes to several private practice friends and colleagues and will continue to do so. I very much encourage anyone who values a simple and clear interface, responsive and professional customer support, and good value to try out TherapyNotes.com

Comments: Overall, it is well worth the money, I am able to run my part time practice on my own with this software.

Pros: -See all active clients at a glance, and I can customize what to show (last appt, next appt., etc) -Love the monthly calendar at a glance -Paperwork reminders are annoying, but keep me honest -Very easy to use on mobile device, (iphone) which is a big deal when I'm traveling.

Cons: -System can be incredibly slow at times or completely dysfunctional. It happened a few days ago, and when I called customer service, I was told they were updating the system. There was no notice to practitioners of this update, which is ridiculous and unprofessional, which I told them. -Quality of customer service depends upon who you talk to at the time. Some of them are knowledgeable, others seem like new hires and they know nothing. Better training is needed there for certain. -I don't like it that I cannot fill in the CMS 1500 form within their software, sometimes it appears at the bottom of the intake note, sometimes not. Very inconsistent.

Cons: Wish I could change the scheduled blocks to different colors. they keep saying they are working on it, but hasn't happened so far. It seems that would be a easy addition to create.

I've been using this software for scheduling, documents, and clinical notes for 3+ years -- Makes my life much easier.

Comments: Customer service is just excellent. Even when the company was hit by a ransomware threat, they communicated well and protected patient data.

Pros: I really like the clinical notes function, especially the pull-down options and history of previous visits.

Cons: iPhone iPad scheduling app would be nice. It is a bit cumbersome to log in, even considering the need for security

Comments: I began using therapy notes because I had been looking for something that was cost effectice and easy yo t use but had certian things I was looking for. I found it!!

Pros: I used TherapyNotes for several reasons The program is simple and quick to write and document session notes The price to use is cost effective. The client portal is available for both non clients as well as established I love the reminders for both myself and my clients It's the best product of its kind I have ever used

Cons: I cannot correspond to my clients through the portal, in the counseling feild or any medical field it's important to have contact with your clients. And emal is not always reliable.

Pros: I have been quite pleased with the customer support provided and with the company's responsiveness to feedback from users. They listen to the users' needs and are constantly updating the product to meet those needs.

Cons: Because the company works constantly to meet new user demands, they implement changes in how the system functions frequently. Rather than making sweeping changes infrequently, they make smaller changes quite often - sometimes weekly. Reading notices about these changes so regularly is somewhat time consuming and tedious.

Recommendations to other buyers: Take into consideration not only your current needs, but those you might encounter as your practice grows. Switching software mid-practice stride would be quite an undertaking, so it's best to choose a product that will be serviceable for the long haul.

Pros: all-in-one scheduling, notes and insurance submission or billing. I can quickly complete the note and then submit to the insurance company with one click before my next client arrives. My clients can access their schedule to check appointments or make changes through the client portal. I can also set up appointment reminders for those clients who want and need that feature.

Cons: waiting for update where clients can fill in forms online through the client portal. Once it is available my practice can become fully paperless without having to scan and shred.

Overall: Fluid ease of use that is quick and complete for my business

Pros: TherapyNotes keeps both me and my clients on track. Missed appointments have gone down by 70% since I use the client reminder4 (text and email) system. Clients will call when they get the message if they have to reschedule. The format for write-ups is specific, and I can tailor the treatment choices to my practice. When records are requested by a third party, they are professional and include my logo and licensure information.

Cons: I take paper notes and then transcribe to TherapyNotes. Sometimes this can be time consuming.

Recommendations to other buyers: I have not found another notes system like this. It meets my exact needs as a therapist. Try it for awhile and see if you are better with the note system. I found I am more consistent in assessing each client equally with a standardized system.

Therapy Notes V. Dr. Chronos

Pros: Ease of Use! I used a personal database for notes and file management , but wanted something I could access from anywhere. Next, I used Dr. Chronos for a couple of months and though I felt it had potential, I spent weeks of my time developing templates only to have the server fail and leave me without access to my schedule! Twice! Needless to say, I went looking for something else and found the blessed TherapyNotes.com!! I have been overjoyed with it's ease of use and appropriateness for business, I can even set my office staff to be unable to see clinical notes. Among my favorite features are, Calendaring that dumps into Google and hides names, E-filing claims without having to retype anything, Setting blackout dates/times so office staff won't schedule on your randomly chosen day off. And finally, ease of treatment planning and professional quality of notes produced. oh wait, and server stability!!

Cons: Haven't found one yet.... except maybe that I have to actually be online to use it, and it won't write my notes for me!

Overall: Absolutely an A++ Product! Save yourself any headaches trying to do it cheaper or better either!

Comments: Colleagues of mine had recommended therapynotes.com so I used the free trial for a month as I entered clients and their information. I was afraid of the billing process and not sure I would like the documents. Glad to say I was wrong!! I am so pleased that I signed up for this system and it is well worth the cost. The intake, treatment plan and progress notes are a breeze; with a direct link to EDT billing. With the push of a button, the system sends my billing and I get paid within 2-3 weeks on average by the payors with whom I am contracted. The system notifies me of any rejections and reminds me to write a note before I can bill. A plus is that the ICD-10 codes are built into the system, so as you start to type the DSM-V diagnosis, all the codes pop up and you can pick the right one. The system even sends free appointment reminders by email. It is very simple to set up clients. A bonus for me was that you can set up provider and billing in two locations or for a group practice, and the system accommodates that, with the second and subsequent providers having a lower fee.

As an aside, when I added the Square to do credit card billing on the spot (they provide a free square card reader) with only a small cost per billing and no monthly fee, that completed my office needs.

Comments: We are very happy with this product for several reasons. One is the ease of accessing client information. Second ease of completing client therapy treatment plan and follow up documentation. The one area that I find not positive is that the system will not allow you to bill online unless all client treatment plans are updated. There are times when I do not complete the narrative until the next day and, therefore, cannot bill for that time.

Pros: Ease of access

Cons: Inability to bill online without having treatment updates entered into the system.

Pros: The staff at TherapyNotes seem to be working all of the time to make their product easily used and up to date for what we need.

Cons: So far the only problem is that there are functions I would like they haven't created yet. When I ask I am told they do have it in their plans so I like that they are trying to meet the needs of individual and small group practices

Pros: TherapyNotes is easy to use, efficient, and keeps me up to date on my files. It is a full service site, with the ability to manage accounts, file with insurance, schedule with clients, and deal with the numerous daily tasks of running a psychotherapy business, whether group or private practice. Customer service is always friendly, helpful and responsive. I have been very satisfied and highly recommend this product.

Cons: I have no complaints. They are always improving their product and work hard to make it relevant and user-friendly.

Recommendations to other buyers: My husband (also a psychologist) and I looked into several similar products and found TherapyNotes to be much more user-friendly and far better than the competition in the services provided.

Pros: This is an excellent system that is user friendly. The clinicians at my facility are usually able to get on and figure out the system within a short period of time. The workflow is perfect for independently licensed clinicians and clinicians that need to be supervised. The To Do List is amazing for reminders in the event you are back to back with patients. The system allows clinicians to focus primary on patient care.

Cons: They do not have UB04 billing for facilities. They do not provide a quality management program that measures treatment outcomes, productivity, and other metrics important for managing a facility.

Recommendations to other buyers: Find something user friendly that has good work flow.

Pros: Makes billing and organizing information simple. Scheduling is awesome, I can add or edit from my phone or computer which is helpful when I'm not at the office

Comments: This product worked really well for my private practice! It has made life easier......scheduling, billing, reminder texts, etc... Everything has been running smoother since I started using TherapyNotes

Pros: Not scheduling issues; reminder texts or emails to clients; ability to have clients reschedule on their own with client portal Processing of claims and posting of payments are super easy

Cons: I only wish the reports such as A/R and missing payments were able to be tailored more to my specific needs

Comments: Pros: Easy to look up a patient and info, great design for use.

Cons: Constantly have to log in, almost every 10 minutes even when I am sitting working on the computer a lot of times its even a shorter amount like 5 minutes . The calendar disconnects from therapy notes all the time. Any time I call customer service it is always my internet or my computers fault even when every other website is working including medicaid (which is infamously known for not working.) We have had insurances that we did not put into therapy notes under out of network, and when I call customer service the answer was to change our password because someone else has it. There are only 3 people who have it and none of us would do that (and who would bother breaking into the account just to add and insurance that we already had in there under in network??) I will give them a little more time to fix these issues but, I am seriously considering asking my boss to quit using this site. Also don't bother holding your breath waiting for them to answer your email.

Hopefully you have been able to resolve this with our support team. As far as our customer service, I'm sorry you've had a bad experience. We track all emails in our customer service system and work to respond to everyone as quickly as possible, almost always the same day.

Pros: TherapyNotes has been written by professionals for professionals. I found it intuitively easy to use from day one, and with each improvement it just keeps getting better. The other main thing I have been extremely happy with has been the promptness of support staff to answer any questions or suggestions for improvement. I love being able to access the software from multiple locations using different hardware (e.g iPad or laptop). The ease of submitting claims to insurance is also a major plus.

Cons: I can't find anything negative to say. TherapyNotes is a well-designed product.

Pros: It is so user friendly and has diagnosis from the DSM 5 built in! The treatment plans are not complicated and the notes and billing are very easy to use. I save time and money by using this program.

Cons: I would like the DSM 5 diagnosis criteria to auto populate so that I can check off the symptoms experienced in the diagnostic assessment criteria box. I do a lot of typing trying to put all the criteria in myself.

Overall: So easy to use and it is affordable even for the part time practitioner. I have learned so much about billing on my own and save the cost of having a biller. I have more money coming in because the easy electronic submittal process and my no show rate is less because of the text, voice or email reminders! You will not be disappointed with this software billing program and customer service is very helpful with any questions you may have about the software or billing process.

Recommendations to other buyers: Utilize customer service when you first start up as their are billing for electronic submittals that can be tricky to navigate.

Pros: Much easier and less convoluted than Theranest. The customer service is excellent. The charting is efficient but detailed. I like that for diagnosis you are encouraged to put in a justification. The billing is built into TherapyNotes so you don't have to use an outside clearinghouse like Office Ally with Theranest. It's easy to bill.

Cons: Just like all EHR's, it takes getting used to but it is not as convoluted as Theranest in which I found myself going in circles trying to get a CMS 1500.

Overall: Very happy with the service. I'm especially happy with the billing. I use a billing agency but it's great to know I can look at the billing and know what the heck it all means without being a biller.

Pros: Easy to use and largely intuitive. It is a better product that what i used in the past. I used Availity and MyClients Plus before.

Cons: Does not have an internal messaging or email function. If you have a comment or questions about something... you have to send it externally through a regular email account. It also has very little financial reporting. I look for something that can provide me with productivity measures across clinicians and possibly some interface with quickbooks.

Recommendations to other buyers: This is a good "starting" software. It was far better than the other two i had used before and hand's down better than paper documentation.

Comments: Working with a small practice, at first you would think that TN would be the perfect product for the solo provider. NOT SO. The system is not intuitive nor is it workflow minded. It seems that it was put together as different pieces to make a whole, instead of really thinking through how the workflow would affect the provider. For example, if you are on the Billing Page, you filter the list of claims you want to work, you click to go into a claim and it literally takes you to that page instead of bringing up a new page. This means that when you are done, you have go back to the beginning to find the other claims that you are working and refilter your list to find what you need.

Pros: The cost is minimal and you can get started right away.

Cons: No thought behind workflow. Appointment Scheduler is too basic, the Billing portion is not automated in any way and the patient statements look HORRIBLE!!! The patient statements do not give enough detail. Voiding or changing a transaction is a hassle.

Recommendations to other buyers: Go with another product.

Cons: I wish I could see when appointments were made and by whom. This was a feature in a previous software I used and it helps solve the problem if there's a scheduling error, dispute or misunderstanding.

I would like to see quickly whether someone has a deductible and how much is left.

I would love to see a suicidal risk and protective factors worksheet. My previous software included this.

Overall: It saves me time and money. I love that I don't have to switch between a scheduling app, a charting app, and a billing app. It's also great that I can only bill after I finish charting on the session. I used to procrastinate about charting, but the ease of use and the immediate ability to bill really helps. My cashflow is improved because it's so easy to bill daily.

Comments: For new users, this program works quite well for clinicians, but not so well for billing. The problem is that that there are no tutorials, and the "Help" information isn't all that clear. The Knowledge Base presumes a bookkeeping or accounting background...not a usual thing for clinicians, nor for data entry people. Also, while the people who respond on the support calls are very nice, they don't have much patience for brand new users. They seem rushed, as though they are allowed a limited time for each phone call.

A glossary would be a nice touch, as well as step-by-step tutorials regarding billing.

Vendor Response

by TherapyNotes on April 21, 2016

Hi Darla. We certainly do not rush our customers off of support calls and I apologize if you felt that way. There is no enforced limit to how long we will allow someone to stay on the phone with us. We provide free, unlimited support on how to use TherapyNotes, and reviewing our other testimonials you will see that our support team usually gets rave reviews. We do not, however, train our customers on how to do medical billing. We try to point our customers in the right direction, but I would recommend looking into medical billing training if you require assistance in that area. "The Knowledge Base presumes a bookkeeping or accounting background" - Well, yes.. a biller for a medical practice should have a bookkeeping background.

Pros: It is very easy to schedule and keep track of clients. The software is intuitive and has all the necessary pieces to maintain an active and accurate treatment log. It is my favorite therapy note platform to date.

Cons: Sometimes the site will auto-populate a "to do list" that I actually do not full need to do. For example, I will receive notifications to complete certain parts of a treatment plan that I may not find necessary, so it clogs up my notification list.

Once you are familiar with the forms, you can document your clients easily.

Pros: I like the drop down sections that make decisions on what to note easy. The diagnosis section also works well.

Cons: In the mental status exam section, I sometimes want to enter more than one answer, and have to type it in. Not a really big deal. If matching symptoms for the diagnosis were there, that would also help.

Comments: I looked at a lot of therapy software programs for my private practice. I chose this one because, despite the cons, it is a good product, easy to use, and a good value for the money. I like having an EHR. It makes life much easier. TherapyNotes is a good product.

Pros: Easy billing and a ton of payor sources Very easy to use Good scheduling Professional looking reports You can choose credit card processing if desired for a small fee Mostly I like the to-do reminders. I don't forget to do notes. Great reports.

Cons: No options for customizing notes although you can download whatever you want. There is a lot of free text typing. Would be nice to have more pick lists. Would be nice if the patient portal did more than just offer clients scheduling. For example, it would be nice to have an option for clients to securely email or make requests through patient portal.

Pros: The clinical paperwork sections are easy to use. Supervisors can check clinical issues quickly. This procudt is geared towards a small group or solo therapist and is easy to use for that purpose.

Cons: The accounting components lack the flexibility necessary for a large practice, particularly if pay is a percentage of gross receipts. Applying payments made in advance requires time consuming manual reallocations if the fee is to be applied during the correct pay time frame for the therapist to be paid. Complaints about this issue resulted in being advised that there is no plan to correct the issue. After 14 months, we are considering changing to a different product.

Recommendations to other buyers: Examine the accounting procedures carefully. If you are a small practice, go for it.

One of the most intuitive, easy to use platforms on the market.

Pros: Everything. There's nothing not to like! From the ease of use to the intrinsic expansiveness of the product itself, Therapy Notes is wonderful! Such a great, all-in-one platform.

Cons: Not applicable. This software has few flaws, if any. If I were forced to give at least one issue, I'd say that it would be beneficial if the billing could link to an external company, such as Square. But that's such a minimal issue, it's not even a problem.

Comments: Overall very happy.

Pros: Ease of use and the customer service is always helpful when I don't know what I am doing! It has everything I need: scheduling, billing, note taking.

Cons: invoices for clients are not always easy to read, not greatly detailed. Better breakdown on an invoice would be helpful.

Pros: it is efficient, very user friendly, helps to get me organized and I always have a great printout for the physicians or those that are referring

Cons: nothing yet. I have to pay closer attention to detail when I enter the PAYER information

Overall: I am impressed especially with the support staff. I have not talked to ONE person yet that wasn't interested or capable of helping me with an issue. Im thrilled when I have to call them...I know I will be satisfied when I get off the phone

I've used 3 other EHR systems, sad to say! but TherapyNotes is by far the easiest to use.

Pros: Ease of use, intuitive, tells you what to do. Great customer support. The only time I needed help was with posting insurance payments, still a little tricky for me, but the notes are easy-peasy. The support staff is great. I could never go back to paper notes, and was afraid with my new private practice that I couldn't afford an electronic system, but TherapyNotes is also affordable. Highly recommended!

Cons: Very little; but just today, discovered difficulty in that it allowed me to accidentally document an appointment on a future date, and then wouldn't allow me to change it once signed. I emailed support (it's after hours) and will likely hear from them tomorrow.

Pros: I like the versatility of the product around treatment plans and progress notes. I also love the reminder notes and to do section as it is easy to stay on track with multiple clients.

Cons: I do not like requirement the treatment plan is to be done on second session. I would prefer it be completed by the end of the third session due to amount of info that needs to be collected and reviewed before the plane is developed.

Pros: The structure of every form provided helps me stay in compliance with laws, ethics, and billing. I am always able to reach a live person when I need assistance, and they are always so courteous and smart. I am able to navigate with ease through the program. It is super comprehensive. I cannot imagine working with insurance companies and keeping everything organized can be any better.

Cons: TherapyNotes meets all my business needs. There is nothing it falls short short of.

Recommendations to other buyers: I cannot imagine running my business with any other program.

Pros: Very easy to use. Easy to input patients information and schedules. Like that I can change clinician info so easily.

Cons: Password issues are very difficult. If you get locked out (forget password, have to change or expires) you get a msg saying you'll be notified in 48 hrs if it's accepted. Means you can't access records! Not acceptable! Can't add a clinician or intern to work on documents or to even see/review documents and can't even let someone log in while you're on. So if you need someone to review your notes, treatment plans or assessments they can't unless they get on your computer. Very difficult! Couldn't navigate to figure out if there were new features.

Great experience so far!

Pros: Its ease of use and intuitive interface. Vendor is open to feedback and strives to make changes when asked/suggestions are made.

Cons: I wish it were more compatible with other EHR systems - and I hope that it is created so that we can interact with other PC docs EHR systems at some point. I also wish it had more robust reporting capabilities.

Recommendations to other buyers: A lot of the systems are very complicated and hard to use, but TherapyNotes is not. It's easy to understand and put into practice right away. Even our therapists who are not good with technology didn't have a lot of trouble figuring out the system.

Pros: Somewhat pleasing design, which is quickly overshadowed by slow performance and feature failures.

Cons: Broken features (since 2012 that I have written to them about and they never fixed), invasive software that will LOCK USERS OUT if your system doesn't meet their requirements, constant and confusing changes that slows down entire reception staff while they attempt to learn new features and changes, expensive and cost ineffective pricing, lousy support, tons of downtime.

Recommendations to other buyers: Stop whatever you're doing and look for a different product.

Comments: I've tried numerous other EMRs--some free, others low-cost. My criteria--which is the first step you need to define when looking for a suitable EMR--was 1) cost, 2) ease of use, 3) ability to customize forms, 4) appearance (an appealing graphic interface), 5) billing features, & 6) customer service. TN doesn't offer fully customizable forms, but their Initial Assessment, Treatment Plan, Progress Notes, & Termination Note do offer the option of customizing the interventions (check boxes--excellent!) & service codes lists. There's an added feature that wasn't in my criteria list, which is a client portal for online scheduling. This is incredibly handy. Also, the free email, text ($), or automated call ($) prior to appointments are great additions to minimize no-shows. While the price of TN is equal to, or a little more expensive per month than some of the others, the ease of use, options available, and especially the excellent & always-available--human--personal customer service, made this my final choice for my solo clinical social work private practice.

Comments: The function allowing referring parties and potential new clients to view and schedule my calendar is really slick. This is what drew me to this software in the first place.

Pros: I very much appreciate the intuitiveness and ease of use with TherapyNotes. From scheduling to reminders, Therapy Notes helps with the organization of my practice in so many ways. I would highly recommend this software management system, particularly for therapists just starting a practice. It definitely made getting my practice off the ground much easier.

Cons: There really has not been much that I can complain about with TherapyNotes, except for billing. I am finding that the client billing section is not as intuitive as the other parts of this software, and that can be a little frustrating.

Pros: Always friendly and helpful and within a timely manor. This is important as there is usually not much time in between clients to trouble shoot billing.

Cons: There was only one time that it took a lengthy amount of time to get a response but that was due to the issue being fairly complex and even then it was less then 48hours and that is not typical at all so I'm not sure that this is even a con.
