I can schedule an appointment, do telehealth, take notes, and bill all in the same platform. You don't really need anything else when using TherapyNotes, LLC. It keeps track of everything for you. Thanks to TherapyNotes I can create and reuse a template to save time and make notes more organized and easy to read. I love the fact that the notes are all stored in one location that I can quickly access regardless of whether I’m on my desktop computer at home or through my smartphone when I’m out in the community. The software also makes it easy to filter through in order to find specific notes which is very convenient. Pros It makes writing case notes a breeze for mental health practitioners. It allows me to store all my case notes in one convenient place. This makes it really easy to access them whenever I need to and it also allows me to quickly filter through them to find any specific note I need to access. Cons The price is quite steep for solo practitioners. It worked for what was needed in the group practice, but I switched to a different option when I branched into my own private practice. Pros The ease of scheduling clients and being able to go from one note to the other with the click of a button was very helpful. Cons It did not have the customizable features - color coordination, various billing rates for different individuals, submitting paperwork online. When I opened my own therapy practice, I started with Therapy Notes since I was familiar with the platform and generally liked them. I found the support team very helpful in getting me setup. TherapyNotes was easy for both me and my clients to use which was a plus. The biggest reason I ultimately chose a different platform was because I wanted more freedom and flexibility with my documentation such as intake paperwork and notes. The templates in TherapyNotes offered minimal customization and that was ultimately a dealbreaker for me. Pros Very user friendly on both the clinician and client end. Affordable, especially for a smaller practice. Support team was great! Very responsive and helpful. Cons I wanted forms that were more customizable. This was the biggest reason that I changed platforms. I appreciated that the standard forms included necessary information, but they were not customizable enough for my specific niche/client population. I only practice part time so I am frugal and try to keep my cost low as possible, but if you do not mind spending $780 a year to prescribe then you should be satisfied with this EHR. Pros I loved the ease of set up. The importation of patient information from another EHR was quick. They have a to-do list on the initial screen that walks you through each step to set everything up as well. It assures you do not forget anything. When you log in the to-do list will appear so you can stay on top of tasks. I loved the integration of telehealth into the system and the charting template. You can also easily upload and share documents with patients. The customer service is great. They are really responsive and follow up to make sure that everything is good to go. They also personally reached out to see how I was enjoying the EHR which was nice. What I was really impressed with was how fast they set up the e-Rx and EPCS features. It takes other EHRs forever to get this done, especially the EPCS but they set both up in less than a week. They also assisted with setting up the PMP for my state. You can add multiple locations if you practice in more than one place which is really neat. Cons The cost of the e-prescribe feature. At the time of this review it is currently $65/ month in addition to the base cost of the EHR. This is expensive compared to similar softwares. They should consider a one time set up fee for EPCS and lowering the cost of prescribing. Pros I love the intuitive structure of TN and the prompts that make everything easy to set up. TherapyNotes support desk is the absolute best I have ever encountered in any capacity or task. TN makes it easy to expand your practice and grow in ways that need business support without taking away from clinical time. I love the ability to give some transparency to the therapist that chose to work in my group. I highly recommend it. Pros I'm not tech savvy and neither are many of my clients. Therapy Notes is very user friendly on both ends and I hear positive reviews from my clients. I also appreciate that the intake forms and progress notes are efficient and can be poulated with past notes. The customer service is excellent. The wait time is minimal, the team member is always helpful and professional, and so far every question that I've had has been answered quickly. I don't accept insurance but issuing a superbill only takes a few clicks. I haven't tried any other programs but I recommend Therapy Notes all the time. Cons I wish that Therapy Notes had an app for myself and my clients. A number of my clients use their phones for our sessions and having an app would make it easier on their end and it would be easier for me when I'm out of my office. Currently when entering new information such as insurance ID, addresses, phone numbers, payments,....once a new one is entered the old information goes away. Most of all TherapyNotes seems to understand that this part of our job (notes, billing, etc) is not the main part of our job. June 3, 2022 5.0 I absolutely love TherapyNotes as a practice management system for behavioral health. The system was very easy to learn, offers integrated telehealth and billing, billing support if that’s not your forte, options for solo-practitioners and groups, and most importantly in my opinion, the Customer Support Team is STELLAR, with broad times of availability. It’s exactly what I was looking for when I first started my private practice. I think there is space for improvement but for the basic needs everything is there. Pros Therapynotes was great for our team because it provided functions like appointment scheduling and notes for appointments. The program was easy to navigate as well. It also has the ability to do insurance claims and overview of billing. Cons There are areas of the application that could be improved. We did find that some features could not be customized for specialized documenation. The pricing for this is affordable but to have other features you have to pay the upcharge which was inconvienent. EVERY SINGLE TIME the customer service agent walked me through whatever process I was inquiring about. They followed up with an email detailing our interaction, with the same instructions written out. NEVER did I have to get passed to a different agent to get help. ALWAYS I have gotten the help I have needed... Truly amazing in this day and age. I actually am wowed by the services that Therapy Notes offers. Whomever is doing their company training is STELLAR because in my half century of work experience, I have not received CONSISTENTLY perfect service. (And I very rarely use the word PERFECT! ;) Also, when there is an issue with the TherapyNotes program or technology, you are notified immediately as soon as you open the program. As well, Therapy Notes executives listen to their users, actually inviting suggestions, and then working to implement solutions quickly. On top of all that, they offer a Facebook group for users to chat with each other to gain ideas and expertise, with this group being monitored by TherapyNotes personnel, who do sometimes weigh-in on commentary for additional help. It is obvious they take client care seriously. I am able to reach a live person whenever I have tried and all of my emails are answered within a few hours to the next day. Cons Here is what I would like improved:1. Allow for recording of teletherapy sessions. This is vital for organizations with interns under supervision and individual practitioners attempting to gain certification in specialty areas.2. Make a more precise window for notifying patients of upcoming scheduled sessions. If the agency charges for appointments canceled within 24 hours, notification should come 25 hours before the scheduled appointment.3. I'm also unable to easily remove past billing on people's billing history that I wasn't yet using therapy notes for billing but was still using you guys for notes. It is an ever evolving therapist oriented office support platform and I have always found it to be helpful. I am struggling with it, at this time however, because I am having to (at 53 y.o) learn how to do my own billing and am often lost in these very spooky woods alone. Superivising someone else's organization and simply paying attention to generated reports is a very different experience to running my own practice without a dedicated billing support team. Pros Simple, elegant, excellent User Interface; Easily Learned; Excellent ease of record entry, maintenance, and search; Internet accessibility; Marvelous Calendar system; Amazing Customer Support team. Cons Benefits and billing system needs to be integrated into the package; I have been unable to write notes and bill according to my own method (free form progress note without DAP/SOAP/etc format); notes are completely reliant upon connection to treatment plan in software which does not allow me to write a note in my best manner and to bill afterwards. I need a billing professional connected with my efforts to submit and track my billing, do reconciliations, or a long, in-depth training with a staff member who can teach this to me. It is my weakness but I need this to be able to have full reliance upon the software. I simply wish to see clients and find a way to automate everything else as smoothly as possible with very little difficulty. This issue set forced me into hiring Theranest as, with Theranest, I can operate how i do (in-paper chart Treatment Plan and Coping/Safety Plan; writing a process note and billing from that); Lack of ability to communicate with Google (via my iPad's) calendar is a very severe, serious, and ongoing frustration. Reason for choosing TherapyNotes, LLC I did not want to write my own client record database again. I was new to the Apple I wanted, and needed, to have the ability to access client records and calendar on the go via the internet while moving around a 13 county area of service provision in Montana. This was 8+ years ago. I spoke with the gentleman who created the system when I called and thought that was great! He was very understanding and quite open with me about plans for future development which would be able to encompass my ideas for what I would ultimately want in a software package like this. So, I thought yo myself, why not support them? It was a great decision!!! I have not yet regretted it. And, even though I use another platform for my billing needs for now, I will not leave TherapyNotes as I eagerly await its slow, but methodical and meticulous, development into the platform I am seeking to have for my ideal practice management software package.
