Pros We love how easy clinicians can navigate the system, the frequent updates, and customer service is superb. Cons I think there are opportunities to include several assessments yet but they continue to work on that by adding more and more. Therapist Mental Health Care Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Overall Experience with TherapyNotes" February 9, 2021 5.0 I have also been impressed with the quality of the customer service with the support staff agent. The agent that assisted me one evening in particular, \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] was knowledgeable, friendly, and prompt in resolving my issues that had stalled my work previously. Much appreciated and will highly recommend! Pros TherapyNotes was relatively easy to use after practicing some changes when crossing over from a different EHR (Theranest). After a month of practice, I found the documentation was relatively easy for daily progress notes and the psychosocial intake components. I particularly liked the intake section where it divides the areas of psychosocial with the specific questioner. Another plus is scheduling ease; TherapyNotes allows me to schedule my client on a monthly basis on a specific day rather than requiring manual entry from my previous EHR system. It also provides me with the option of system reminders via email and or text message depending on the client's preference. Lastly, from an audit standpoint, it appears TherapyNotes do not allow preliminary license holders such as LGPC, LGSW, etc.. from entering individual notes on new clients without the clinical supervisor approving/signing off on the treatment plan first. Also, TherapyNotes requires a clinician to document a treatment plan on the second visit following the initial intake prior to clearing the clinician from entering a progress note. I have also been informed billing insurance providers can only transpire after all entered notes for the service date has been signed off. The above-mentioned requirements from Therapynotes do quality control for audit and ethical purposes for practice holders. Cons The one thing I do find problematic with Therapynotes is the treatment plan section. The document allows the clinical to enter the approximate length of treatment however it does not allow for a clinical to set a review date (of 30, 60, or 90 days). This technically means Therappnotes does not generate a reminder for a clinical to review a treatment plan and resolve, complete, and or change with a selected review date in mind. Pros TherapyNotes makes clinical documentation very simple. The templates are easy to use and customize if needed. The information flows from intake, intake note to treatment plan and progress notes. I don't worry about missing an insurance requirement. Cons I've been challenged with part of the billing process especially when it comes to deductibles and insurance readjusting payments. Pros \- Comprehensive and robust charting system - Pre-populated progress notes from dx and treatment goals from intake / 1st treatment plan making completing half of the note a breeze! - Pre-populated interventions list, or create your own - Fantastic ability to submit claims electronically with ease making the billing process a breeze! ERA’s (EOB’s in electronic format) come straight from the clearinghouse making reconciliation a one click process vs manually entering insurance payments. These two features have saved me tremendous time! - All of your billing is easily accessible either by patient, or practice wide. Many reports you can run to efficiently keep an eye on your cash flow. - Appointment reminders via text, phone call, or email. Clients LOVE them! Reliable. - Incredible customer support! Second to none. Every time I call there are no long wait times (usually under 5 minutes or less!) Customer support is clearly extremely knowledgeable about the software and are eager to help problem solve technical issues or just there to guide you through the use of the product. I can’t tell you how helpful they have been. Words can’t describe. They really are amazing! :) - THE PRICE! Superb value for such a comprehensive system. Pros I like the forms. They ensure that appropriate content is included in the chart, while allowing repetitious material to be copied from previous recording, allowing the uniqueness of the client and their behavior in each session can be easily entered. The therapist can also show their own skills.The support staff are at the core of using this software. They are available, knowledgeable, and truly incredibly patient. Cons I am not computer savvy, and while the updates are clearly improvements I have a hard time getting comfortable with the changes. I can't wait to see the updates in the future to see how they improve. The price is great as well and they are always helpful! Pros This software is super easy to use and has a lot of great features! Their customer service is amazing and they take feedback from their users to make improvements! I love that that it has everything all in one and it makes scheduling, billing, and note taking extremely simple and conveniently fast! There is a client portal included which makes it easy for clients to schedule and submit documents that you have requested. The note templates are helpful and make it easy to make sure you have all the information you are needing in the note. Updates come out all the time with improvements which shows they are using the feedback! They also include a telehealth platform which makes online appointments easy to access and they just added a share screen option! Cons Therapy Notes is great but it is missing some features that other programs have. There is no app or client messaging like other popular programs which would make it easier to see scheduling or client messages on the go or when out of the office. Also the telehealth platform is improving but it does not allow multiple participants and the share screen only allows you to share your entire desktop instead of specific windows which can be a little annoying. This program is comprehensive and easy to use. What really makes this company better than the others in the field is their customer service. Plainly speaking the other companies I've tried offered little or no useable customer service, which resulted in my getting "stuck" on how to use their systems - and having to wait several hours or even days to get an answer on how to use a particular feature. Unlike Simplepractice, they don't leave the burden of training on customers; Therapynotes provides the support needed to use the program. Unlike Theranest, Therapynotes does not lie about it's customer service. They actually walk their talk. Switched from [SimplePractice](https://www.capterra.com/p/130710/SimplePractice/) SimplePractice offers NO live customer support. You are told where the "database" of instructions on how to use the program is located and you are on your own. Programs like this are detailed and complex - there is a fairly steep learning curve. For me, it's a glorious waste of my time to be told to go search in the haystack for the specific information you need to properly use the program. Theranest - the second practice management program I used SAID they offer live customer support, but in fact, they lie about this kind of support. In fact, when using Theranest, I was often required to leave a message and wait for an answer - sometime up to two or three days later. When you are working a busy practice, and you want to bill, or make notes on a session, it is not sustainable to have to wait to receive answers on how to use the program. Review Source RS Renee S. Their patience, time, and expertise is invaluable. Even if I was not sure what to name my situation, they always understood, took their time with me and made me feel like I am important. Love the Therapy Notes. I recommended this EMR to all my friend that are going into Private Practice. Keep it up Therapy Notes. I also chime in once in a while on FB. March 23, 2024 1.0 Pros The platform has been relatively easy to use and cost effective. They do have glitches at times where the telehealth platform doesn’t work. I know it’s their platform because I am able to leave and use zoom or Psych Today with ease when this happens. Cons TherapyNotes has not handled the situation with Change Healthcare in a way that makes business sustainable for providers. They have waited to change clearinghouses when other EHR’s have been able to do it all due to their ancient coding and inability to pivot as every other EHR in the country did in days or just a week or so following the attack. When voicing our opinion about how they continue to charge us our monthly fees while not providing the service we need and signed up for they refuse to take ownership of the issue and are trying to silence us from voicing our opinions on the matter. I have been blocked from their facebook group for bringing attention to the issue. They continue to make promises that they are working on the inability to file claims through their platform yet there is no solutions. Other software platforms are doing it and have been. I feel like they aren’t able to keep up with the needs of them. Billing has been the most frustrating part which is unfortunate. If I could use a completely different system, I would. I would not recommend TherapyNotes based off billing alone. Pros Secure messaging was just added. Customer service is very helpful and prompt when assistance is needed. Cons Billing, billing billing. It’s not user friendly at all. Claim scrubbing isn’t as good as other services. Too many extra steps need to be taken to make corrections. No secondary claim billing. Slow about adding features. Cons I can't think of anything, other than maybe not being able to search certain criteria in specific formats, like DOB, address, or phone. February 5, 2024 5.0 It's very user friendly and super easy to learn. It reminds me when I have forgotten to do a session note, update/create a treatment plan, or update PCP or release information. Pros The 'To-Do' list is wonderful! The notes options and treatment plan setup is thorough and all inclusive for requirements. Cons The only thing that could be improved on is the reporting option. I would love to see an option at the top labeled 'Reports' where you could enter a date range and see completed appointments, missed appointments, which clients have missed more than 4 sessions, etc. Review Source NM Nancy M. I am learning to utilize the Therapy Notes and it's assets. I recently reached out for support and felt the customer representative was very helpful. Pros TherapyNotes provides everything I need for EHR management, billing, and telehealth. Their customer service is excellent. You may have to wait a bit on the phone, but the wait time has been short and the customer service/provider services representatives are knowledgeable, patient, understandable, and will remain on the call for as long as you need. The monthly price is very reasonable and lower than some other EHR services i researched. Cons There is no provision for couples, families, or groups using different devices for telehealth. I have to use another telehealth provider for these sessions. So kind, patient, and knowledgeable. I never hesitate to call them as I know my concerns will be heard and issues will be resolved. Highly recommend TherapyNotes to any mental health practice. Pros The user friendliness of therapy notes and the expectational support team that is always so kind and helpful makes this EHR the best in the business. They think of everything, response with a detailed email about what you talked about in a call, they send step by step screen shots in case your find yourself in need of help again. October 12, 2022 5.0 I have been with TherapyNotes virtually since the beginning. There has never been a reason to leave. We use the venue for almost all aspects of our business from scheduling, documentation, claim submission, tracking claims, billing patients, Telehealth, maintaining employee files, corresponding with clients, practice analysis...you name it. Love, love, love this product. Pros TherapyNotes is designed for practice management. It is one of the most appealing aspects to new clinicians joining our practice. It ensures our documentation stands up to audits and it is so, so easy to use. I love that it is customizable. The customer service representatives respond quickly and always very friendly. Cons There is nothing I dislike about TherapyNotes. It makes our life so much easier. Reason for choosing TherapyNotes, LLC We had been doing all of the billing, payroll, collections, scheduling, etc. on our own and as our business began to grow we realized we needed help. October 11, 2021 5.0 Overall I am happy with Therapy notes since my biller can access my records and I can utilize the telehealth portion easily. I just wish it had more resources for therapist available. Pros The collection of patient data is very easy. Cons Compared to Simple Practice, Therapy Notes resources for clinicians is null. I would say that has been the most disappointing as the only forms provided are for the demographics and any other forms must be created and uploaded by the clinician. Additionally there are no forms for assessments to give to the client based on their diagnosis or information that you can send to them. Also, you have to manually send out the forms for each new client where Simple Practice did it automatically.
