Pros: I adore pretty much everything about this app. Task creation and management is so simple, with intuitive gestures at the forefront and powerful features tucked underneath when you need it. The experience between Mac, iPhone, and iPad is consistent and absolutely delightful.

If you have a lot of projects up in the air and want a simple way to track and manage them, absolutely get Things. It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of some kitchen sink apps, but it's all the better for the restraint it shows.

Cons: No collaborative lists for families or teams.

A few clunky UX choices, but they are few and far between.

Pros: This is the best task manager I've ever found. It uses design that is both beautiful and functional-- it perfectly constrains the process of the todo list. Wonderful!

Cons: I have a Windows computer at work, so I can really only use this on my home mac or iPad-- sadly, that's a dealbreaker for using it for work. Also, it's expensive, even if it's worth every penny.

Pros: LOVE the url schemes! Thank you! Makes it easy to work from Drafts and Bear, where I capture most of my ideas. Things makes it easy to view different aspects of my life and business so I can focus on exactly what my calendar says I need to be working on.

Cons: I can't put a finger on it, but I prefer to work in Things on iOS instead of MacOS. I think it's because the menus are more intuitive?

This tool has allowed me to capture ALL the things in one convenient place.

Pros: I have multiple projects all with many to-dos for each. I can sort by project or date due to find what's next on my list.

Cons: Sometimes I cannot get the sort feature to work correctly. I'd also like more options for how I'd like to be able to sort and a way to do projects within projects.

Overall: It's out of my head and in this program so I don't have to spend my mental resources trying to remember everything. I just go to my list.

Pros: Things is clean, well-designed, and has essentially ever feature I need for a to-do app.

In general, I think this is a great app. Additionally, they've recently updated it to allow for deep-linking of some sort, however I haven't had the time to dig into that further and see what additional functionality it brings with it.

Finally, the design is great. it's clean, it's white. it's simple. You can't beat that - in the day when all apps seem to add in way too many colors, shadows, etc. and overdo it in my opinion. This one hits the mark.

Cons: The pricing structure isn't the greatest. Annual plans have never sat well with me as they don't allow for flexible lifestyles. My tech habits change much more often than annually, for example, and I'd like to onboard and offload apps accordingly.

Beautiful and efficient to-do application.

Pros: Things beat out all similar applications I have used. This app is beautifully designed and is purposeful in all its features. My favorite part about Things is the ability to separate to-dos into separate projects. Projects help me to keep on task and not forget the essential items in my project. Within a project, you can create heading for group more task together. I cannot live without this app.

Cons: This app is wonderful. This application needs the ability to add colored tags to further organize to-dos.

Overall: This software keeps me from procrastinating.

Pros: It's very simple and user-friendly. It would take no time for someone new to the software to get up and running with it. As a basic task manager, it is perfectly adequate. If you want to build your own system from the ground up, this is a good choice.

Cons: It just wasn't feature-rich enough to justify a price point that was comparable to other task management software choices that DO include richer features. For instance, why no cascading tasks/dependencies? I'm a GTD person, and Things just didn't have all the layers needed to execute GTD digitally. I eventually found a competitor that was clearly designed to work for GTD workflows and abandoned Things. Unfortunately, I had already sunk the costs of paying for the desktop, iPad, AND iPhone apps for Things because everyone else I worked with was using it and seemed to love it. I know many who still do, but I just like to build a task system with much more specificity and robustness.

Overall: It was a good starter point for task management in the world of knowledge work, but I eventually had to progress to a more robust system as my workflow and organizational systems matured. But I 'cut my teeth' in Things and appreciated the syncing between all my devices.

Pros: Oh man, where do I even begin? I utilize Things for my home / personal / non-work tasks, and it's incredible. I love that I can have multiple projects and areas, so that everything can be organized and grouped how I want it to be. Also: repeating to-dos! Big fan.

Cons: There's nothing that I don't like, per se, but I do wish that there were more business features, so that I could use this for work. Specifically: I'd love to see shared projects, assignable tasks, and chat / comments.

Pros: Less is more.

That's really the crux of the matter with Things. Since it received a massive redesign and reconceptualization last year, it does... less? That's hard to say... but honestly I don't care, because what it does, it does amazingly well.

It's incredibly easy to enter to-do items from anywhere on your desktop or iPhone (there's also an iPad version which I haven't purchased). Instant syncing across your devices. Custom reminders. A gorgeous, clean design that makes me want to use it.

The intro project (Meet Things Mac, which is designed to help you get to know all the features of Things quickly) was perfectly conceived, and I was up and running inside of 2 minutes. (Compare that with some of the more complex To-Do software like OmniFocus -- which I also purchased once and never used much -- and you'll understand the value of this.)

My life has never been so organized.

Cons: * I would love the ability to ATTACH (and not just link to) documents, photos, etc.
* Siri integration could be better.
* It's kind of expensive+ for the desktop and iPhone versions of the software -- but still, that's a decent chunk of change.

Great Project Planning and To-Do list tool.

Pros: It is a robust and beautifully designed piece of software that does just about everything I want it to do. It has the ability to make a project with key tasks and subtasks that isn't overwhelming to review.

Cons: I really wish they had a subscription model that would allow me to pay them a flat price per year or month to have all of the apps. Right now you would need to purchase each app individually but then you own them until they make a new revision.

Pros: Things has the ability to schedule individual task items as well as group them by projects. You can set a due date or put it away in the "someday" file as a reminder to come back to it. Pros: I use Things for most of my personal task management needs (bills, chores, grocery lists, etc.). The user interface is very simple and the animations make it a joy to use.

Cons: There needs to be a collaboration feature on shared projects. If my wife and I could collaborate and share projects together then we would use the app a lot more often.

Pros: I've been using Things since it's been released to public beta and it's just an indispensable piece of software. I used it every day, both for work and personal tasks. Great synchronization.

Cons: It could possibly be slightly cheaper (would gladly pay monthly fee), but if you consider how much you get out of it - worth every penny.

Pros: I use Things daily for all of my household / personal type of tasks, and it is just about perfect. It is simple yet sophisticated, and it works like a dream. The Things team clearly put a ton of thought into this version, and it shows.

Cons: Shared projects! This is the one thing that is making Things a strictly personal product. If it allowed for more "teamwork" type features, I would use it for businesses purposes, as well.

Pros: Things is one of the few softwares that can be described as perfect. It's perfectly balanced when it comes to features and usability and doesn't reinvent the wheel. It has everything you'd want as a power use, from a system wide to-do creation box to integration with other apps.

Cons: Tagging system could be a bit better. Also, GTD functionality could use dependent tasks where one can start only after the previous one finishes. Apart from these, the app is great.

Overall: It makes tasks easy to manage for me, does not slow me down. It's pretty customizable as well.

Things 3 is an incredible product. It's well-built, smooth, and effective (if a bit expensive).

Pros: The attention to detail that's gone into this is incredible. Everything just works. Transitions are smooth, there are affordances throughout that let you know what's happening, and there is a robust feature set including tags, due-by dates, target completion dates, groups/folders/projects, and more. Moving tasks around is a snap, and the Today view helps me stay organized at a glance.

Overall: Things has been critical in helping me get more organized.

Pros: Its simplicity and at the same time complexity. Things allows you to get wherever you want, from simple task management to a complex array of projects. I have tried tons of task management apps and this is by far my favorite. The UI is so clean an simple, I have used it for work and personal task as well as planning for vacations.

Cons: I think the prices is pretty steep, and if you are just looking for a simple task management software it may be overkill.

Overall: Being a full time employee and freelancer I need to keep track of all the THINGS that need to be done, so Things has empowered me to take everything out of my head and rely on my system to get the work done as simple as posible.

Pros: Simple. Easy. Clean. This is my favorite ToDo app in the App Store. I have used almost all the top ones, and the not so top ones. I have sign up to many other services, even some that are so complex that learning to use them is a huge task. THINGS is the one I am staying with. I use it for work and for home, to travel and for projects. The thing I like most is the UI, stays clean no matter how many tasks it has on. Beautiful to look at, for the simplicity of it. I can connect it to my Airmail app and make tasks from there with all the info. So I have this only place I can admin my time with.

Cons: The price, a bit too high for me, although it is worth it, It made the choice difficult to make at the beginning.

Overall: I get organized, I do the things a need to do, in the order I need to.

Pros: Very powerful yet very accessible and user-friendly.
Perfect cloud service.
Pixel perfection.
Super support.
I'm using Things as my personal task manager, so I don't need sharing. Some might find that a drawback, not me.

Cons: The slow pace of development: version 3 was announced many years ago - about to be released now.
The iOS app should be universal for iPhone and iPad instead of being two separate purchases. The price is - after all - pretty steep.

Overall: Getting things done ;-)

Pros: Ease of use

Cons: It's not real intuitive and takes some time to learn if you don't have someone to show you how it works. Once you understand HOW it works, it's great. I'm just kind of slow on new software and the learning curve was steeper for me. I love it now!

Overall: I'm a ghostwriter, freelancer and consultant. My time and attention is all over the board. I started working with Mike Salomon on an attention management program he's been running for 25 years. The program is called "The Sherpa System," and it's designed NOT to manage your time, but to manage your focus, attention, and priorities. He requires his clients to download Things as a way to manage projects and to-do lists. He adapted the features of Things so they fit his system. As a result of Things, and Mike's "Sherpa System" I'm saving about 10 to 15 hours a week by having my lists, projects and dreams organized on Things. I don't know how Things is "supposed" to work, but what Mike has done with it, and the ease of use has made such a difference in my life. Easy to add, organize and use.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure you sync it across all your devices. I sync mine on my laptop, desktop, and iPhone.

Pros: simple categories. fast synchronizations. no subscriptions

Cons: selecting tags in iOS is a pain. not able to collaborate with others (family). Can't store attachments.

Overall: I found too many other todo apps to be overly complex or lacking the features I needed. Although Things doesn't have everything I want, it has everything I need. The main reason I keep coming back to Things is it's simple views. Keeping everything within Today, Next, Scheduled, Someday and Inbox reduces the amount I need to think. I don't want to spend too much time remember how to catalog the tasks I've just created.

My only gripe would be a lack of new features but that is why it has been able to avoid the unnecessary complexity. A few tweaks to the UX would be nice though.

Recommendations to other buyers: Please add a search box to select tags. UI is starting to show some age. A facelift might be nice.
