### "My go-to task manager"

September 11, 2022

4.0

Things helps me organize my life and keep focused on the tasks that matter.

Pros

Responsive and clean UI. While task managers aren't too complicated, Things has a beautiful interface and makes creating tasks a fun experience. The "magic button" which is what I call the create "+" button is a nice way to enable creation of To-dos, projects, or Areas. The default set of groupings works well, from Inbox, to Today, to Upcoming, to Anytime, then Someday. You can also create your own Areas and Projects to meet your own logical grouping. Any tasks that aren't completed get moved over to the next day. Being able to snooze a task by moving it to "tonight" is also useful. You can also configure an alarm to prompt you when you should perform a task.

Cons

Once I accidentally deleted an Area and spent a lot of time trying to find out how to undelete. I still haven't figured this out and had to recreate it from memory. There aren't any collaboration features to work on tasks with other users. Also the one time cost of the software is limited to specific clients (i.e. iOS vs MacOS).

### "The list App of all list Apps! "

December 20, 2018

5.0

Things has really allowed me to better map out both immediate tasks while also planning long term goals, charting progress and steps along the way. It's my calendar, diary, to do list and notepad all rolled into one. It's EVERYTHING.

Pros

I've bounced around from one productivity App to the next, but Things is the first and only one I've stuck with. I absolutely love the way it integrates my "To Do" lists on into my calendar on all my devices and allows me to segment tasks and projects based upon importance and immediacy. It's user interface is incredibly clean, simple and user-friendly, creating a space where even my scattered monkey mind can create a semblance of organization.

Cons

I wasn't a huge fan of having to pay additional cash money to allow the integration between both my phone and computer, but in the end, it was worth it. I'd also like it if there were more options for automated alerts that would remind me to check out my lists during the course of the day.

### "Great for your To Do list with one request "

August 23, 2022

5.0

Pros

This is a very easy product to install and use Just like the Google search bar, it’s best feature is it’s simplicity. It also allows you to keep historical record of previous activities which is very helpful I need to go back and look something up

Cons

I bought the version that you install on your computer. You can buy separate app but that’s an extra fee. I really don’t understand why they don’t give you an option to combine the two and make it just one price.

### "Makes you want to complete your tasks just so you can use it"

October 11, 2019

5.0

Things makes my team more efficient and organised. We know what to do and what are the next steps to achieve our goals for the day.

Pros

\- it the best task management software on the planet - the interactions and the animations make you want to check off your list every single time you look at it - well designed: simple, yet very powerful - easy to organise your lists and to see your day ahead

Cons

\- The cost - it's expensive, especially if you use it on multiple devices - Doesn't have location-based reminders on mobile (the bit that keeps me from using it with 100% of my tasks)

### "Things is thisclose to being perfect"

April 6, 2018

5.0

Pros

Oh man, where do I even begin? I utilize Things for my home / personal / non-work tasks, and it's incredible. I love that I can have multiple projects and areas, so that everything can be organized and grouped how I want it to be. Also: repeating to-dos! Big fan.

Cons

There's nothing that I don't like, per se, but I do wish that there were more business features, so that I could use this for work. Specifically: I'd love to see shared projects, assignable tasks, and chat / comments.

### "A simple product that does what it's supposed to do elegantly"

January 16, 2020

5.0

There was a time that I cannot function without Things. However, as time progresses and more applications are released, I found it easily replaced with any other productivity app.

Pros

In the old days of GTD (Getting Things Done), this app is a must-have for all GTD enthusiasts. It does one thing perfectly. And that is a todo list.

Cons

Many cross-platform, free or cheaper programs can replace it anytime now. Main reason why I moved away was because it's limited to Apple products only.

### "The best tool for individual task management"

December 6, 2021

5.0

It has been a decent change from Google Calendar but is not quite there. I really miss Astrid.

Pros

The visual design of things is clear and intuitive. It is easy to add and organize tasks including organizing tasks into projects/areas e.g. personal vice work. It works well with my calendar so that I can see my calendar events in things.

Cons

Primarily that I am unable to see my Things tasks in my calendar. I would very much prefer to work within my calendar including to add and remove tasks and mark tasks as complete in my calendar. Google Calendar gets close but the lack of repeat tasks and the lack of demarcation b/w tasks and reminders makes Google difficult to stay on top of.

Switched from

[Google Calendar](https://www.capterra.com/p/213340/Google-Calendar/)

Due to a lack of demarcation within and awkwardness of Google products i.e. calendar, tasks, reminders.

### "Great Project Planning and To-Do list tool."

March 20, 2018

5.0

Pros

It is a robust and beautifully designed piece of software that does just about everything I want it to do. It has the ability to make a project with key tasks and subtasks that isn't overwhelming to review.

Cons

I really wish they had a subscription model that would allow me to pay them a flat price per year or month to have all of the apps. Right now you would need to purchase each app individually but then you own them until they make a new revision.

### "This tool has allowed me to capture ALL the things in one convenient place."

May 7, 2018

5.0

It's out of my head and in this program so I don't have to spend my mental resources trying to remember everything. I just go to my list.

Pros

I have multiple projects all with many to-dos for each. I can sort by project or date due to find what's next on my list.

Cons

Sometimes I cannot get the sort feature to work correctly. I'd also like more options for how I'd like to be able to sort and a way to do projects within projects.

### "My to-do list for more than a decade"

April 20, 2020

5.0

Pros

Things is simple but powerful. This tool has been open on my Mac and iPhone every day since high school. It has come with me through four degrees and countless jobs and internships. It's a workhorse for every setting.

Cons

It is a bit expensive for personal use, but it's worth it for how often I use it and how much value I get. I wish it had more integrations, but I'm not too upset.

### "Things is my go-to app for Getting Things Done"

December 4, 2019

5.0

Things has been key in my effort to become more organized and have a clearer head. I actually enjoy using the app a lot, which says a lot (I naturally tend towards disorganization and chaos). I'd recommend Things to anyone who wants to get organized and get more done.

Pros

Things is beautifully designed and syncs across all of my iOS devices. Its easy-to-use, with its powerful keyboard shortcuts. It's got all the options I need to stay organized (Deadlines, start dates, tags, Areas of life, projects, tasks, recurring tasks...).

Cons

Using Things, or any GTD app really, requires constant maintenance. If I spend a couple days outside the app, I'll end up with lots of stuff on my "Today" list, which can feel overwhelming. Such is life!

### "Good software with a few concerns"

June 9, 2018

4.0

Helps me manage my todo tasks though there are other high quality players in the same arena today

Pros

\- Beautiful UI - System wide shortcut to capture tasks - Syncs with the iPhone, Mac and the iPad - Fast and flexible. For e.g.,I could choose not to do GTD and run it like a traditional todo list - They finally seem to be building some integrations into the application

Cons

\- Very expensive. Needs a separate purchase for iOS - Devs can disappear. They did after they released the previous version. Took an incredibly long time to develop Things 3. I was questioning whether I had to move to a different todo list - Not as feature rich as one would expect given the incredulous pricing. For e.g., cannot use with teams, no note taking - Needs a dark mode

### "Worth the money"

May 20, 2021

5.0

It allows me to accomplish more and be fully present in the moment with people because I know my lists are safe and synced and accessible.

Pros

I love things because it functions like a 2nd brain. I’m able to get tasks out of my head into a system I’ve come to trust. I use it on my iPhone and my Mac. It’s elegant and pretty to look at and it has the features I need to manage projects and next actions.

Cons

There are a few features I wish things had. I’d like more customization for my views. I’d like smart searches to be saved. Minor things.

### "Simple and Effective - You won’t want to go back"

November 30, 2018

5.0

Organization both of my work and personal life has had a big improvement since using Things, no regrets buying this software at all! Also for those quickly vanishing thoughts, quick entry is amazing.

Pros

Overall everything feels smooth and right how it should be! Really the best feature for me, is being able to quickly note some thought (from the quick entry shortcut, with intelligent autofill!) while doing whatever thing on my Mac. Calendar and Reminders integration it’s also very well synchronized and displayed on the Menu. Cloud makes it a very good feature for the companion app on iPhone, it’s a breeze!

Cons

I’ve run into a minor issue on Dark mode theme, which was quickly fixed by the support!

### "Helps me to remember and keep on track"

October 22, 2019

5.0

Great program that syncs may phone and my computer so not matter what I have my list to keep me on track.

Pros

It is a great place to put down all tasks and ideas. After inputing it you can organize so everything is in the correct place.

Cons

The biggest down side is the lack of sharing. I cannot share a task with someone else or give task to particular people.

### "My 'Things' experience"

July 27, 2021

5.0

Excellent. No complaints.

Pros

I love the design of this app. Definitely easy to use. I just type up a task press 'enter' and that's it. All my tasks are listed. I can check off what tasks I've completed. It even keeps a record of all the tasks I completed and I can set up a 'reminder' notification so I know that this deadline is coming up or I have. I can even set up keyboard shortcuts to make entry even faster. Essentially this is like my digital diary. Easy to use and it sits on my desktop so it's right at mu finger tips.

Cons

Needs an Android mobile app. Would love to be able to have all of my tasks synced across desktop and mobile.

### "The most powerful task manager"

November 7, 2017

5.0

Being a full time employee and freelancer I need to keep track of all the THINGS that need to be done, so Things has empowered me to take everything out of my head and rely on my system to get the work done as simple as posible.

Pros

Its simplicity and at the same time complexity. Things allows you to get wherever you want, from simple task management to a complex array of projects. I have tried tons of task management apps and this is by far my favorite. The UI is so clean an simple, I have used it for work and personal task as well as planning for vacations.

Cons

I think the prices is pretty steep, and if you are just looking for a simple task management software it may be overkill.

### "Things is great...but expensive"

December 26, 2019

5.0

This is the app everyone needs for organizing their lives and getting stuff done. I just wish it was marketed toward everyone and not just those who have to spend a pretty penny.

Pros

Things is the exact app I am looking for when it comes to getting things done and completing projects. It's minimal and I don't like to spend a ton of extra time that I don't have just to work around software. I also love that you can obtain this app and sync to all of your devices.

Cons

The features are great, but I feel like it's difficult to justify spending the amount of money on the app. $20 for the iPhone app and then another $50 for Mac and $20 for iPad? I understand that each requires it's own time of development, but the pricing is steep. I would love to be able to get Things for my Mac and iPad but I can't justify spending that kind of money on an app.

### "Awesome tool"

December 4, 2019

5.0

I have been using it on a daily basis to keep a tab on the things to be done. I am very happy with the product.

Pros

I got hooked to David Allen's GTD method and that is when I came across Things. At first I was reluctant as it was a paid product but then the benefits out weighed the cost so I have the paid versions on the Mac as well as iPhone. The UI is excellent.

Cons

The cost of course is a deterrent but then the benefits out weighed the cost. You need to set up your own GTD rules.

### "Love Things 3"

February 12, 2019

5.0

I have tried several other todo list managers, and this is my favorite one by far. Simple, easy to use, but powerful enough to handle my needs.

Pros

quick integrated intuitive calendar syncing multiple platforms

Cons

There isnt much that is wrong about this software. If im being picky, the only thing I don't like is how the apple reminders aren't automatically imported into Things. They show up, but then you have to maunally click "import" to get them into your inbox.

### "GTD must have App"

February 17, 2023

5.0

Overall, Things is an incredible and robust productivity app. With seamless integration for iOS calendar it helped turn me into a productive and organized person. The only thing that frustrated me was having to pay separately for each device; the iOS app and the macOS are separate purchases. I had just made this ~$50 purchase when the newest update came out and it was a brand new purchase. They did offer a discount but it just rubbed me the wrong way as I had not been using the old version for very long

Pros

Hands down the best UI for a GTD system.

Cons

The iOS app and the macOS are separate purchases

Reason for choosing Things

It was the least clunky app out of all I tried.

Pros

Simple, yet very functional when you need it. Ideal for personal tasks and great for grouping to-dos into projects.

Cons

No dark theme, which makes it a bit annoying to work with after midnight. No team functionality, but I suppose that's not the focus of this app.

### "Things changed my life, way I manage time and attention"

February 13, 2017

5.0

I'm a ghostwriter, freelancer and consultant. My time and attention is all over the board. I started working with Mike Salomon on an attention management program he's been running for 25 years. The program is called "The Sherpa System," and it's designed NOT to manage your time, but to manage your focus, attention, and priorities. He requires his clients to download Things as a way to manage projects and to-do lists. He adapted the features of Things so they fit his system. As a result of Things, and Mike's "Sherpa System" I'm saving about 10 to 15 hours a week by having my lists, projects and dreams organized on Things. I don't know how Things is "supposed" to work, but what Mike has done with it, and the ease of use has made such a difference in my life. Easy to add, organize and use.

Pros

Ease of use

Cons

It's not real intuitive and takes some time to learn if you don't have someone to show you how it works. Once you understand HOW it works, it's great. I'm just kind of slow on new software and the learning curve was steeper for me. I love it now!

### "A nice tool for Apple users only (no Android app)"

June 24, 2021

5.0

Pros

It's really an awesome software, and I loved to use it, because it is so fast to add tasks while working.

Cons

But when I got an Android phone, it was super frustrating, that there's no app for Android users. On the go, it should be possible to also add, and check tasks on Android.

### "Revolutionize Your Productivity: Discover the Ultimate Tool for Streamlining Your Workflow!"

February 26, 2023

5.0

Pros

Using Things 3 is a delight with its drag-and-drop capabilities and headings. These features make your day-to-day work simpler, assisting you in staying organized, on track, and productive - consequently optimizing your workflow and creating a more efficient lifestyle.

Cons

I'm a big fan of Things 3, but there's one caveat: The price. It's above average, particularly if you want access to the application from multiple devices. The Mac version is $50, the iPhone and Apple Watch apps are $10, and the iPad version is $20—all of which adds up quickly. Even so, I think the cost is worth it for the features and value it provides.
