Analyst Medical Devices Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Domo Provides Critical BI Functions at Lower Cost" February 12, 2024 5.0 Overall Domo provided all the functions needed out of our BI software and allowed for the connections needed and provided excellent customer service when needed. Pros Domo provides all of the essential functions of other products including data connectors, data visualization, data ingestion and exports, as well as dashboard creation. Domo does have a learning curve to learn the difference in how the back end functions are different, but anyone with previous experience should be able to pick it up. Cons At times Domo can be slower than other products, and does sometimes crash when ingesting large amounts of data. Also, the PDP feature allows us to ensure we are only giving access to the authorized users and reduce unnecessary bureaucracy. Pros I like it because it is really advanced when it comes to Business Intelligence and visual insights. It helps me in quick and impactful decision-making through the metrics I can build on a dashboard and integrate with ERP & SaaS products for my company. Cons The data refresh is still i believe not fully there yet. on the daily refreshes, sometimes it forgets to refresh data and then I'd have to wait for a day again to have it update live data. Even though, it is a rare instance, I'd love if this was fixed permanently. It's also easy to collaborate with colleagues on projects within Domo. Cons The interface itself isn't the most intuitive. Trying to navigate to different boards/projects can feel a bit jumbled at times. It can also be confusing figuring out how to request to join a card/project if you don't know who the owner is, or having to contact them outside the platform since the notification system doesn't always seem to... notify people. One person could manage the entire data structure and system fairly easily. Cons There are limitations to software when its easy to use. Domo is not an exception. It’s not just about visualization of KPIs and other data. You can take the data and turn it into actionable steps. Furthermore, the existing integrations that are available makes it easy to have all our data available in Domo and combine them. You can still see the start-up mentality and the new features and the speed that they deliver new features and product improvements is amazing. For us Domo is so much more than just about data - we have it part of our product development process and have a lot of operational processes built on data transformations that we built in Domo. Cons DOMO is very costly compared to other BI tools, especially when you want to have separate user accounts for each user and do not share accounts among users. I believe their suit of tools is best suited for medium to large businesses. Thanks to its fantastic omni-channel capabilities, we've been able to use it for everything from pinpointing issues in production to measuring the effect of our ads. It's very versatile and has tons of additional features like mobile apps that make our jobs easier. I think implementing Domo has definitely been a great success for us. Pros 1\. It has very impressive performance and uptime. We rarely run into any issues or bugs when using it, and the real-time features work smoothly2. The interface looks great and is very suitable for users with little background in data tools. That was very important for us as several departments are using it at the moment and everyone was able to get the hang of it despite some not being 100% proficient with tools like it. Cons It's not as well known as some of the other data management tools out there, so there isn't much of a community behind it. Domo has proven to have better support, UI, user adoption, ETL functionality, and connectors. Pros Domo has proven to be more efficient to build dashboards, while being easy to use to bring non-BI users into the fold. I have been amazed by how quickly new users become comfortable and productive using the tools. We leverage a stable of the connectors to further drive our strategy from multiple operational platforms. They have APIs for pushing and pulling data as well as for user and data permissions. Pros I like that it's an off-premise solution so we don't have to build and support a data warehouse. Cons Customer support isn't very good. The helpdesk is virtually useless and they are always trying to push their premium support option for $5K/year when we complain.It's important to get a good Customer Success Manager. We have a really good one now, our 4th, and they are very helpful in getting support issues reviewed and looked at. Almost no one outside of our BI team ever visits Domo. But I use it every day to monitor, analyze, and pull insights from our data sets. I found it easy to learn and while it's not without limitations, it's a very powerful tool that's crucial to my work. Pros It's very easy to get data into Domo, clean, process, and visualize it. No code required and fairly easy to use and maintain. Cons Getting data out of Domo is challenging. It's expensive overall, and features like visualization hosting are extremely expensive. Pros I love how this tool makes it easy to combine multiple data sources and create dashboards and cards that make data analysis and reporting a snap. The time savings this tool provides is invaluable. Cons I wish DOMO had more connectors and improved some of their existing connectors. It allows me and many of peers to use the technology and the data easily in the ways we need to use it to make critical business decisions. Pros It's easy to use. Any tool that requires significant training isn't a tool that is going to be easily adopted. Domo is intuitive and efficient. Cons Not sure this is a domo thing or an us thing, the list of reports needed are extensive. None of the Storage/ETL/BI use cases I can think of would I put domo in my top 3 options. I have found it to be subpar in data warehousing, query editing, and data visualization which from what I can tell is the majority of its functionalities. Pros This product provides a web-based hub for your data and visuals that centralizes where your team focuses to interact with their data. The ETL tools provide an easy to use low/no code interface to build simple queries. Cons Where Domo has removed complication (I assume to ease the use) they have dramatically limited this software capabilities in comparison to competitors. limitations include: - No ability to build visuals based on multiple tables - No ability to build filtering capabilities across tables - No ability to build relational models with existing tables - All "scripting" capabilities are glitchy and limited in their capabilities - Poor/nonexistent version control options - Compute resources are not brokered well and during high traffic times we can have dataflows run for up to 2 hours My worst experience with domo was with their customer service/integration team. One of their prebuilt integrations to a popular Web App, which domo is responsible for maintaining and servicing, has never functioned properly with our domo instance. The support case has been open for nearly a month and has just been escalated to someone that appears to know how to read the code I have been sending them to trouble shoot THEIR integration. They have promised resolution timelines twice and are now 2 weeks behind their initial promise. Review Source Billy S. Pros I like how there is a lot of things you can do with the software. You can create ETLs, use SQL to transform data, create visualizations, and more. It is like a swiss army knife with data, it can do almost anything. I also like how there are multiple ways it lets you do the same thing, which allows you to find whatever you feel most comfortable with and do it that way. Cons Sometimes navigating the software is a little confusing, especially when switching between various datasets. Pros It's incredibly powerful and allows any one (regardless of coding or data science background) the ability to create dynamic reports and complex data automations. The best part of Domo though is the customer support. When you call support you get a human right away and they are always ready to help regardless of how complicated your problem is or how much time it will take to solve. You never feel helpless with Domo, only empowered Cons It costs a fortune and they have no entry level packages. they also have a habit of releasing awesome features that aren't included in the main package and that cost puts the platform well out of reach for most companies. Reason for choosing Domo Domo does it all and you don't need development support to deploy it. It has native connectors to most data bases and was up and running in our firm in less then six weeks. The platform is user friendly and building visuals are straightforward, although they can be limited at times. Cons Domo's support team definitely needs improvement - their response time is lacking and frequently ask for information that has already been provided in the initial ticket submission. We can understand our business in a way we never could before. We honestly don't know what we'd do without Domo at this point. It's fantastic. Pros We were originally looking for dashboard software. Something like Geckoboard, but we wanted something more advanced. We were using multiple tools, and wanted to collect data from them. We then found Domo. Within days we had integrated our CRM database, Website Analytics, Invoicing database, and Order Processing database. This let us take a look at EVERYTHING. And I mean everything. Things like: What's the average time between receiving a lead and the rep calling them the first time? What's the average time between a customer ordering, and reordering? How many calls have my reps made today? (Updated every 15 minutes!) What landing pages on my website are receiving the most looks? How are my google analytic campaigns translating into converted customers? Cons It's pricey, but worth it. Additionally, our teams have states that the data management and security is strong. Cons The analytics are not as strong, and for more professional presentations, the visuals aren't as useful.
