Senior SEM Manager Used the software for: Less than 1 year ### "Flexible Cross-Channel Reporting with Strong Customization" October 26, 2026 4.0 Overall, Domo was a strong platform for turning fragmented advertising data into reporting that supported both internal analysis and meaningful client conversations. I did appreciate being able to standardize inconsistent campaign naming and shape dashboards around the KPIs that mattered to each individual client of ours. The ability to explore results by platform, campaign, or date range during meetings made the dashboards practical and, in more than one instance, provided substantial value to particularly curious clients, thereby strengthening our relationship with them. While all this was appreciated across our teams, adapting a broad BI platform to agency-specific requirements often demanded more custom configuration than expected, particularly for management fees and blended costs. Although I was not responsible for the software budget, I was also made aware that the consumption-based pricing could become difficult to forecast as usage increased. We eventually transitioned to a competitor that aligned more closely with our agency’s reporting model, but my overall experience with Domo was positive, and I found its analytical flexibility and customization capabilities consistently useful. Pros Domo gave me the flexibility to go beyond surface-level channel reporting and build views around the KPIs that actually mattered to each of our clients. Magic ETL was useful for cleaning campaign taxonomy, which, needless to say, is a constant struggle for marketers, and helped me join platform data with revenue, thereby creating consistent measurement across accounts. Its dashboards supported productive client conversations because we could drill into performance by channel, campaign, or time period in real time and do so without running into UX roadblocks. Our current platform is slightly more purpose-built for our specific agency's reporting, but I will say that Domo offered a solid, satisfactory degree of data customization and performance analysis. Cons What I liked least about Domo was the effort required to adapt a broad BI platform to agency-specific reporting needs. Metrics such as markups, management fees, and blended media costs often required custom calculations rather than being available out of the box. While I was not directly responsible for managing the platform’s budget, it was shared with me that its consumption-based pricing made costs difficult to predict in scenarios where client usage increased. I will emphasize that these drawbacks never made Domo ineffective, but they contributed to a more specialized competitor becoming the better long-term fit for our agency. Review Source MR Melissa R. Easy to learn the basics while advanced features were a bit more difficult. Pros Domo makes it really easy to bring all your data together in one place and visualize it quickly. The dashboards are clean and interactive and was fairly easy to learn. Cons While basic dashboards are easy, the advanced features and integrations can take time to master. Pros Domo provides all of the essential functions of other products including data connectors, data visualization, data ingestion and exports, as well as dashboard creation. Domo does have a learning curve to learn the difference in how the back end functions are different, but anyone with previous experience should be able to pick it up. Cons At times Domo can be slower than other products, and does sometimes crash when ingesting large amounts of data. It's also easy to collaborate with colleagues on projects within Domo. Cons The interface itself isn't the most intuitive. Trying to navigate to different boards/projects can feel a bit jumbled at times. It can also be confusing figuring out how to request to join a card/project if you don't know who the owner is, or having to contact them outside the platform since the notification system doesn't always seem to... notify people. It’s not just about visualization of KPIs and other data. You can take the data and turn it into actionable steps. Furthermore, the existing integrations that are available makes it easy to have all our data available in Domo and combine them. You can still see the start-up mentality and the new features and the speed that they deliver new features and product improvements is amazing. For us Domo is so much more than just about data - we have it part of our product development process and have a lot of operational processes built on data transformations that we built in Domo. Cons DOMO is very costly compared to other BI tools, especially when you want to have separate user accounts for each user and do not share accounts among users. Thanks to its fantastic omni-channel capabilities, we've been able to use it for everything from pinpointing issues in production to measuring the effect of our ads. It's very versatile and has tons of additional features like mobile apps that make our jobs easier. I think implementing Domo has definitely been a great success for us. Pros 1\. It has very impressive performance and uptime. We rarely run into any issues or bugs when using it, and the real-time features work smoothly2. The interface looks great and is very suitable for users with little background in data tools. That was very important for us as several departments are using it at the moment and everyone was able to get the hang of it despite some not being 100% proficient with tools like it. Cons It's not as well known as some of the other data management tools out there, so there isn't much of a community behind it. I believe their suit of tools is best suited for medium to large businesses. Domo has proven to have better support, UI, user adoption, ETL functionality, and connectors. Pros Domo has proven to be more efficient to build dashboards, while being easy to use to bring non-BI users into the fold. I have been amazed by how quickly new users become comfortable and productive using the tools. We leverage a stable of the connectors to further drive our strategy from multiple operational platforms. Also, the PDP feature allows us to ensure we are only giving access to the authorized users and reduce unnecessary bureaucracy. Pros I like it because it is really advanced when it comes to Business Intelligence and visual insights. It helps me in quick and impactful decision-making through the metrics I can build on a dashboard and integrate with ERP & SaaS products for my company. Cons The data refresh is still i believe not fully there yet. on the daily refreshes, sometimes it forgets to refresh data and then I'd have to wait for a day again to have it update live data. Even though, it is a rare instance, I'd love if this was fixed permanently. They have APIs for pushing and pulling data as well as for user and data permissions. Pros I like that it's an off-premise solution so we don't have to build and support a data warehouse. Cons Customer support isn't very good. The helpdesk is virtually useless and they are always trying to push their premium support option for $5K/year when we complain.It's important to get a good Customer Success Manager. We have a really good one now, our 4th, and they are very helpful in getting support issues reviewed and looked at. December 1, 2022 4.0 Pros Before being introduced to DOMO, most of our data analysis had to be carried out in Microsoft Excel, which isn't ideal when dealing with large and ever-changing datasets. We were using multiple systems and it was often difficult to get a good overall picture for reports. DOMO allows us to connect to all of our various systems, including our CRM, our email marketing software, website analytics and the various demand gen channels we use for advertising campaigns, allowing us to report and analyse the performance of our marketing activity end-to-end, from the first contact with the customer to the end result of the sales process. We have also been able to utilise DOMO to help us with reporting in other areas, such as customer survey results and monitoring the usage of our CRM, and create useful data visualisations that can be shared with the business users.The software is user-friendly and it's easy to start using straight away, although the more complicated functionality can of course take some getting used to, but overall, it has a nice UI and is pleasant to work with. Cons We do sometimes have difficulty with our CRM datasets due to problems with the data connector, and we recently discovered that our existing datasets will need to be recreated using a different version of the connector now, which isn't ideal. Sometimes the error messages aren't very helpful when a dataset update fails, and you then need to seek help from support to identify what is actually going on, which can cause delays in getting the problem resolved. Cons It is somewhat "hard" to know how to create beast modes if you are not an expert in the system. One of the many advantages of getting lots of data is that you can queue it up, and it will continue to process in the background while doing something else. Pros I like how easy it is to pull information from various sources, create and save custom dashboards, and then distribute them to my team and any other departments that will lend a hand. Its most robust feature is the application's ability to configure many types of protection, such as data-level security and folder-level security. The design is aesthetically pleasing, and the user interface is simple. Cons The user interface is often intimidating until the user gets comfortable with the program, and customer support can offer quicker solutions to people with problems. Pros I like how there is a lot of things you can do with the software. You can create ETLs, use SQL to transform data, create visualizations, and more. It is like a swiss army knife with data, it can do almost anything. I also like how there are multiple ways it lets you do the same thing, which allows you to find whatever you feel most comfortable with and do it that way. Cons Sometimes navigating the software is a little confusing, especially when switching between various datasets. The best part of Domo though is the customer support. When you call support you get a human right away and they are always ready to help regardless of how complicated your problem is or how much time it will take to solve. You never feel helpless with Domo, only empowered Cons It costs a fortune and they have no entry level packages. they also have a habit of releasing awesome features that aren't included in the main package and that cost puts the platform well out of reach for most companies.
