It is also easy to develop ETL pipelines in Domo using the advanced SQL capabilities or the magic ETL tool. Easy to build interactive dashboards with dynamic filtering. Cons Some of the chart types could be improved like gauge charts where I would like to show the color based status (red/yellow/green) if that particular column is not used to build the chart. Cons Sometimes navigating to the sources of the data is difficult - If I didn't create the card or was not trained in what the card consumes, I find it sometimes hard to figure out what data is included in it. Cons It can be difficult to use filters on dashboards that have cards built from different datasets, even if columns have the same title like date you still have to add multiple filters. I started using it 5 years ago and it's much improved now. Pros I like all the Domo connectors, being able to pull in data from multiple disparate sources and combining them into one repository has made my job so much easier. Continuing on with this, being able to store billions of rows of data in one area without having to pay for storage costs has been a huge boon for my organization. I like the Run Dataflow feature that was just added, it's been a huge lifesaver. It used to take so much time managing all the steps one by one, but now it's so much straightforward. Huge quality of life change. Cons I'd like more options for automation and scheduling. For example if I have a dataflow that has multiple sources, I can only have it automatically update the whole thing on the latest thing to come in. The problem is that there's a lot of variance for when the sources finish updating so sometimes it updates without getting all the data in and looks weird. I am able to integrate the website analytics, invoicing, order processing, and the CRM database so that I can analyze everything within my business. Pros It has amazing visualization and graphics and is very user friendly! I appreciated how easy it is to import data and build data connectors. Manage all the data in one system! Cons This software is pricey and I do not recommend it for new or small businesses unless you are profitable. This will help you scale your business if you can afford the cost. There is a learning curve but it is manageable. Pros Domo offers a variety of integrations to pull in data from all types of sources and combine them as needed. Once visualizations are created they are easy to share and interact with. Cons It is extremely hard to figure out how to do things. The interface is not intuitive at all and if you are not using constantly it can be an annoying process to re-learn how to build out things every single time you use the platform. " December 27, 2018 5.0 After having installed and integrated Domo BI software into our daily business practice, our team has realized a substantial increase in productivity across our operations spectrum. As we were attempting to investigate alter solutions to our current BI software , we discovered that Domo offered capabilities which far surpassed our current software BI. The overall result is a new found independence from IT service and entanglement to an extensive degree. Pros Domo software allowed our team to bring together data from our cloud services as well as from our on premise servers. The resulting organization allows ease of access at all times and from this point we can create flow charts as well as whole profiles which we can then access from desktop or mobile devices. These profiles are aggregated in what they call "cards" ; a rather easily understood and effective mode of communication and presentation. Cons There is not much to dislike regarding Domo's BI solution. From Domo's recollection, contextualization , and presentation our team productivity has accelerated cycles and become much more productive, The only con to relate is is that not all features we wanted to try are available in the introductory trial version of the software, This condition is not an impediment as the software performs so fluidly that we were happy to extend our confidence to the full version. " August 21, 2023 1.0 Negative. I will ensure anyone looking for similar software chooses another vendor. Pros How inexpensive it is. Compared to its competitors, Domo is the most affordable option. By no means does this make it the best solution. Cons 1) It's functionality is a weak version of Tableau. 2) Their customer service is beyond horrific. Our experience with their platform was sub-par. Renewal notifications were sent to the email address of an employee who is no longer here, and Domo is now demanding we owe them for a multiple year contract. When we politely asked to have it nullified, they sent it to collections. You may save money initially, but you will most likely lose it long term. Pros Once you get your head around it, the interface is powerful and intuitive although the learning curve is steep. Good visualisations. Cons Domo could not care less about their customers. If you engage with them you will get a hard sell that promises you the world, including a good few blatant lies, but as soon as you sign that contract they wash their hands of you. Most of the connectors that we tried to work with were barely demos - totally unfit for purpose - so unless you have a team of SQL coders to build everything by hand, or are prepared to pay Domo's extortionate professional services fees (which you'll need to book weeks in advance), you should avoid this product as they won't help you. Pros The product itself is great. It is easy to pick up and runs quickly and smoothly. We were able to implement it ourselves with a team of two in around 6 months and it has been extremely impactful on our business. Cons The customer service, implementation process has been a nightmare. We went through two different consultants for implementation and don't use anything that they built for us. We would of been better off doing it all by ourselves. Customer service doesn't get you anywhere unless you call in and escalate every ticket. We got a new account rep (our first one was great) and he never even introduced himself and to this day we don't even have a phone number to contact him. Switched from [Tableau](https://www.capterra.com/p/208764/Tableau/) Tableau was too slow for us on our regular macs and we didn't have the IT resources to successfully implement it. I prefer Power BI if given the choice, but Domo is 2nd for me. Pros Fairly easy to use. Able to handle a lot of data and data sources. Updates much quicker than Tableau. Cons Not as easy to drill down through the data like Power BI. The visualizations are not as good as other software products either. Easy to navigate with many options available to work with. Pros ETL is the best tool I've worked with comparing to other BI tools. Very easy to navigate around and gives unlimited options for data manipulation. Cons Long processing time for bigger dashboard. When creating big reports it takes a lot of time for the dashboard to load properly. YoY charts can only be created as histograms, would be good to see other types of YoY charts Review Source Dan O. " May 6, 2018 5.0 Pros It's a great platform for aggregating, manipulating and displaying a snapshot (or real time view) of your business metrics. Domo is very executive friendly, and is very visibly pretty. Beast calculations (effectively functions in the language of MS Excel) and magic transformations provide the ability to manipulate data that has been imported into Domo. Domo has a wide range of connectors that enable you to pull data into it and produce what they call cards. Cards are effectively presentation displays of data that can be updated automatically with a continuous feed of data. Cons Domo lacks some more advanced functionality, such as: (1) The ability to display on one card, data from more than one date object (2) Geo-spatial analysis TableAU, QuickSight by AWS and QGIS offer functionality that may better fit your use case. It's compatible with various sources of information, but I mostly use it to export to the universal format, Excel. Report creation is made easy and as long as you have a business intelligence group or software engineers, you should be fine working through any problems when their server has issues. Cons Server issues tend to happen at least once a week. Working with customer service is a huge hassle. I'm not sure if their agents are trained well enough to handle my requests. With all the down time, my team plans around not having access to reports available at least 2-3x a week for a few hours. Review Source JM Jeff M. Safety performance has improved because Domo has surface information that helps us hold our employees accountable. From the employee’s perspective, they are able to see what is expected of them and also see how they are performing to those expectations. Pros From loading data all the way to visualizing it, domo’s tools make the process very simple. Our business leaders now have accurate and timely information which helps them make informed decisions. We have several documented organizational improvements as a result of our Domo initiative. Cons Of all the software systems I have been involved in procuring, domo has the least amount of “cons”. One suggestion would be to include some type of utility to maximize the efficiency of datasets. For companies that do not have a mature BI program or groups that do not have sufficient BI support, Domo permits those groups the ability to gain access to data-driven insights within a single platform. Cons There are often bottlenecks in running dataflows at peak times of the day (most notable b/t 8-11AM eastern). Account executive Telecommunications Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Domo gives me accurate data" September 30, 2020 5.0 Overall, Domo had played a significant role in helping us report accurate metrics and trends. Our main CRM makes us take multiple steps to find certain metrics. Whereas domo can give us the reports we need with the accurate data in an insightful and helpful way. Pros The main reason why we implemented domo was to get more detailed (and inherently accurate) data. It’s giving us insights that’s helping to provide correct coaching for reps, that we couldnt get normally with our standard CRM. If I could pick one thing though that we love domo for, it’s the ability and ease of use to track trends over time. Being able to see changes in things that go month over month (and even year after year) helps us make informed decisions that are in the best interest of our company and sales teams. Cons As with a lot of analytics software, the strengths can also be a weakness. Sometimes, there’s so many different ways to access/create the same data or reports, that it can become overwhelming. That being said, most of the people that would use or purchase this software are likely looking for those in-depth types of analytics. So I wouldn’t classify this as a con, but if there is one thing that frustrates me, that’s it.
