We are very happy with this software. Pros It's easy to customize and drive this program. Our consumers may access data from their mobile gadgets or any location with internet access. Tables and graphs are intuitively laid out for users. The drag-and-drop component makes it simple to assemble visualizations. Cons The execution and customer service have been a disaster. We used two separate advisors for the deployment but never used the solutions they suggested. One person could manage the entire data structure and system fairly easily. Cons There are limitations to software when its easy to use. Domo is not an exception. They have no problems billing us for the lack of service. Pros The theory of it. I had used Domo in a previous role and we had a data analytics specialist in-house that integrated all our business to utilize this platform. Cons Horrible customer service. Sadly, our service reps will not assist us with numerous questions to get our businesses integrated. It’s not just about visualization of KPIs and other data. You can take the data and turn it into actionable steps. Furthermore, the existing integrations that are available makes it easy to have all our data available in Domo and combine them. You can still see the start-up mentality and the new features and the speed that they deliver new features and product improvements is amazing. For us Domo is so much more than just about data - we have it part of our product development process and have a lot of operational processes built on data transformations that we built in Domo. Cons DOMO is very costly compared to other BI tools, especially when you want to have separate user accounts for each user and do not share accounts among users. Other than that Domo worked already most of the cons that I had in the beginning. It's also easy to collaborate with colleagues on projects within Domo. Cons The interface itself isn't the most intuitive. Trying to navigate to different boards/projects can feel a bit jumbled at times. It can also be confusing figuring out how to request to join a card/project if you don't know who the owner is, or having to contact them outside the platform since the notification system doesn't always seem to... notify people. Working with various data sources, scheduling pipeline updates and reports, setting up alerts, and managing data lineage is easy. Cons Writing and debugging SQL code in ETL pipelines is complicated and long process. Cards are not very responsive to resizing. The graphical programming tool (ETL) is another advantage for code-less development. The visualizations and dashboards are great for our business intelligence activities. Cons It's hard to set up the PDP policies even with the dynamic PDP policy since all the attributes need manual inputs. The help function is not that friendly. You are aware that not every data can be seen in an excel sheet. It eliminates the need to manually pull and enter all of our data, which is time-consuming. It also allows us to visualise and alter our data in ways that were previously impossible. It offers just remarkable analytical capabilities that have helped us to better leverage all of the organization's data to make choices, particularly commercial and financial ones. Pros Every function is quite simple to use, but if you don't know how to utilise it, they provide fantastic knowledge-based publications. Domo enables us to create really well-designed dashboards that present data from numerous sources fast and effortlessly. When it comes to analytical skills, it is also a potent tool with an excellent report generator. Increases visibility into performance. It provides several chart kinds that are categorised based on the requirements. The best thing is that it generates an auto chart utilising multiple dimensions and measurements. Cons When an issue happens on the SQL side, I notice it, but I'd need additional information about it. Sometimes a single statement isn't enough to explain what's wrong with the SQL. The colours are terrible, and the graphs and other elements aren't as easy to use as Power BI or other tools. Pros I love how this tool makes it easy to combine multiple data sources and create dashboards and cards that make data analysis and reporting a snap. The time savings this tool provides is invaluable. Cons I wish DOMO had more connectors and improved some of their existing connectors. Their Qualtrics connector for example I think could be improved in a way that allowed survey result data to be pulled into DOMO so that I could analyze and present the data more easily than I can in Qualtrics itself Review Source MC Matthew C. Domo has been an invaluable tool for our company, allowing us to easily combine information from many sources for analysis and improved decision-making. One of the many advantages of getting lots of data is that you can queue it up, and it will continue to process in the background while doing something else. Pros I like how easy it is to pull information from various sources, create and save custom dashboards, and then distribute them to my team and any other departments that will lend a hand. Its most robust feature is the application's ability to configure many types of protection, such as data-level security and folder-level security. The design is aesthetically pleasing, and the user interface is simple. Cons The user interface is often intimidating until the user gets comfortable with the program, and customer support can offer quicker solutions to people with problems. None of the Storage/ETL/BI use cases I can think of would I put domo in my top 3 options. I have found it to be subpar in data warehousing, query editing, and data visualization which from what I can tell is the majority of its functionalities. Pros This product provides a web-based hub for your data and visuals that centralizes where your team focuses to interact with their data. The ETL tools provide an easy to use low/no code interface to build simple queries. Cons Where Domo has removed complication (I assume to ease the use) they have dramatically limited this software capabilities in comparison to competitors. limitations include: - No ability to build visuals based on multiple tables - No ability to build filtering capabilities across tables - No ability to build relational models with existing tables - All "scripting" capabilities are glitchy and limited in their capabilities - Poor/nonexistent version control options - Compute resources are not brokered well and during high traffic times we can have dataflows run for up to 2 hours My worst experience with domo was with their customer service/integration team. One of their prebuilt integrations to a popular Web App, which domo is responsible for maintaining and servicing, has never functioned properly with our domo instance. The support case has been open for nearly a month and has just been escalated to someone that appears to know how to read the code I have been sending them to trouble shoot THEIR integration. They have promised resolution timelines twice and are now 2 weeks behind their initial promise. Review Source Billy S. Pros I like how there is a lot of things you can do with the software. You can create ETLs, use SQL to transform data, create visualizations, and more. It is like a swiss army knife with data, it can do almost anything. I also like how there are multiple ways it lets you do the same thing, which allows you to find whatever you feel most comfortable with and do it that way. Cons Sometimes navigating the software is a little confusing, especially when switching between various datasets. It has solved countless reporting problems an saved thousands of hours spent repetitive reporting tasks for our team. Pros It's incredibly powerful and allows any one (regardless of coding or data science background) the ability to create dynamic reports and complex data automations. The best part of Domo though is the customer support. When you call support you get a human right away and they are always ready to help regardless of how complicated your problem is or how much time it will take to solve. You never feel helpless with Domo, only empowered Cons It costs a fortune and they have no entry level packages. they also have a habit of releasing awesome features that aren't included in the main package and that cost puts the platform well out of reach for most companies. Reason for choosing Domo Domo does it all and you don't need development support to deploy it. It has native connectors to most data bases and was up and running in our firm in less then six weeks. The platform is user friendly and building visuals are straightforward, although they can be limited at times. Cons Domo's support team definitely needs improvement - their response time is lacking and frequently ask for information that has already been provided in the initial ticket submission. It's also easy for the platform to become very disorganized - Domo could definitely benefit from implementing some data catalog functionality. Cons Training/Learning. I have to search all over the web to learn how to do things. When I work with Domo developers I'm told the training material is out-of-date and I should be doing something another way. (I appreciate the honesty of the developers, just not the out of date training material). Need some kind of tier training system. It allows our small team to be able to make decisions and perform at a level that that far surpasses even that of mid to large size organizations. Domo is a powerhouse in the realm of data manipulation and analysis and I can't imagine being without it! Pros Everything that allows us to import or connect to data and perform data analysis. The graphs, charts and filtering tools are amazing, and the new (beta) feature to save filter sets has been an incredible time-saver, as well as giving us greater insight into different views of our data so that we are then able to take a wider range of actions and not miss some information that would've otherwise not been visible or buried within other information. Cons How much screen real estate is occupied by various things, leaving only a small amount of space for previewing cards. Going into full-screen has it's own limitations, so perhaps a "Theater Mode" view that minimizes unnecessary information to allow a larger view of the core content. I also do not like that its not possible to scroll left and right within card previews, requiring them to be opened to be able to do so. Finally, performance can sometimes be an issue, but I think that's more related to the enormity of data we are processing at any given moment more so than an issue with the product or the hosting servers. Additionally, our teams have states that the data management and security is strong. Cons The analytics are not as strong, and for more professional presentations, the visuals aren't as useful. Additionally, having better features to export dashboards into pdfs, PowerPoints in better formatting would be very helpful.
