Drupal continues to enjoy growing support from the open source community which helps it make it more stable and reliable. Cons It's not meant for the average user. Drupal is a very flexible and powerful CMS, with tons of module for everything (from credit card management to spam detection), also with a big marketplace of themes to quick launch nice websites. The community of developers is huge, so it is easy to have a Drupal expert nearby to help you with a new website or the development of a module if that is not already existing on the marketplace. And, also as with WordPress, there's a devoted community of Drupal developers who work hard to keep it relevant. Cons Like WordPress, Drupal requires some coding skills. Unlike WordPress, if you lack said skills, you'll be quickly frustrated. Compared to WordPress, where there's massive 3rd party support with plugins and premium themes that make coding knowledge virtually unnecessary, Drupal is brutal to learn and difficult to use. I immediately chose Drupal and I have not looked back since. I've been an adopter and evangelist for how great Drupal is and have used it for every web project since to include two business portals. Pros I love the ease of use from the user standpoint. Once the environment is setup by admins, using the backend functionality and keeping all of my website up-to-date and current has been easy. This is coming from a non-developer, so, one can imagine how happy I am to have this ease of use. It allows me to build websites that don't look cookie cutter and keeps my customers differentiated. Standard promotion tools are at a high level, but with the help of additional modules it is much easier to bring the site to the top of the list. Cons I have no difficulties with the platform. But I had problems when choosing a hosting. I managed to connect only one of the three hosted hosting, because the platform requirements are quite high. Weak hosting will not work. It just takes some time to learn it and you will want a smart developer available to help with deeper edits. This is probably the same for Wordpress though. Drupal seems to be a more serious platform if you have deeper business dev needs. Pros It's powerful and can do whatever you want. It just requires you to have a good developer. Fortunately, there are many out there. Cons It's not as simple as Wordpress. I am not sure if they plan to keep improving the backend editor, but I think Wordpress and the Visual Editors are a bit easier for web dev newbies.
