Pros Okta's nice because it keeps all of your commonly used apps and software under one sign on. It also helps the organization track usage of software so they can make sure they are investing appropriately in software. As an admin, it's great to allow and revoke access based on user roles/groups Cons Custom integrations are a bit harder to get done properly. Pros I really like that I have a central hub where I can see all of the services I can access. And if I do not have access to one then I just simply search for it in Okta and ask for access. It is really great as I do not need to hunt down people and spend hours on figuring out how to get access to certain services. Cons Not everything is supporting it. This might be because of the licenses the company has but still there are some where I cannot log in with Okta.And the other one which happened recently is that do not forget that for Okta authentication you need internet access. The other day my internet went off and I could not log in to 1Password (we have the Okta based login) until I hooked up my laptop to use my phone's internet. Review Source DB David B. Okta hit it spot on! Pros SaaS Model, easy to provision and supports the most used applications from an access management and directory integration perspective. The user interface and capabilities are light years ahead of the competition. Cons Limitations around on-premise integration with applications and environments. This is not too bad as a SCIM provisioning agent/component is available to support limited provisioning to on-prem applications. We access Salesforce, our Referral Portal, Chorus, Admin and several other functions through Okta. I like how it's laid out and is generally really fast. Cons I dislike the fact that as of recently, we have to verify logging in with the Okta app. I don't want an extra app on my phone to take up more storage. Wish they just sent a text instead. Extremely open and proactive about feedback, product reviews, surveys, etc. Cons Fundamentally at the mercy of app devs to add SAML & API-based provisioning, so it can take long periods before an app is integrated. I have never experienced any issues with SSO with MFA Cons It would have been better if it could be integrated with GSSAPI/Kerberos so that you don't have to log in to your laptop and then to Okta. Pros Okta is extremely simple to use as an end-user and has a clean and simplified dashboard that incorporates clear push buttons and logos for ease of navigation. The added support for multi-factor authentication through a mobile install provides an added layer of security. Depending on the level of integration in an organization, it can replace bookmarks and login details of commonly used tools. Pros It's nice to be able to log into many sites with a single click. It also has a nice browser plugin that allows me to access those sites quickly and effectively. Cons I don't really like the interface and some elements of how the program works. I regularly have trouble when adding new programs to it. It is also convenient to have all of my commonly used applications available from a single "home-page" in my browser. Cons Occassionally, I have issues with some of the apps not working correctly or I am directed to the wrong location. However, I feel this has more to do with the setup and less to do with the software. The software works great and always does it's job. With automatic provisioning of Apps, accounts, and SAML authentication, it's really saved us time (and money) in rolling out new users, and keep current users happy. Cons There are certain features we'd like a little more control over, but for the most part you're able to customize and control everything. It's a struggle to think of something I don't like. Pros You can use the same login for all your apps. Just have to set up everything one time. Some apps automatically recognized it. Cons It doesn't remember your login. You have to enter your credentials from scratch in each app. Also, the expiration time is short. It seems like a secure way to manage multiple log-ins and systems. Pros I hadn't heard of Okta before my company purchased it to use for single sign-on. I have at least a couple dozen apps within the Okta site of places I'm regularly logging into. Okta makes it so easy to log-in to the multiple systems I need to access on a daily/weekly basis. You can also rename some of the apps to make them more intuitive if needed. Cons I didn't realize the company can set up and send out its own apps into your Okta automatically, and I had already added some of the apps myself, so I ended up with a handful of duplicates. You just need one master password to be able to access all your other sites passwords to retrieve. Cons That it prompts you to change your master password every 90 days? It makes logging in and remembering passwords way easier than conventional methods. Cons Okta fails when it comes to authentication. I know it also increases security and compliance for my organization, so it’s a win-win all around. Cons The mobile experience isn’t great. If you work at a company like mine where you access 10-12 different sites daily that require login credentials -- Okta is a life saver. " June 26, 2018 5.0 Great way to have all your everyday work applications in one place, and it gives you the ability to have personal applications there as well. Pros We use it as an external authenticator for our Support Portal and Community for external clients, and for an authenticator for all our work related apps for our internal users (employees). It is a great way to have everything under one roof. Cons I wish you could just see the password of the apps in your dashboard (without having to confirm with the push to your phone) but I understand the security reasons for that.
