May 16, 2018 4.0 Pros it keeps the simplicity of any 2fa but adds extra features especially for businesses. We had been using it for our 2fa VPN without any issues. Cons It is not that popular, for some reason there are many companies that are not aware of Okta. The team constantly adds new features such as Device Trust and adaptive authentication. We are most excited for Device Trust (which integrates with your MDM to enforce enrollment by acting as a gateway to your corporate apps) and passwordless authentication. Okta’s Active Directory integration synchronizes profile and group membership to Okta to manage access to AWS applications (and any other web apps). Our Active Directory connector is one of our most achievements — there’s no VPN, no firewall modifications, no need for dedicated hardware and built-in high availability. Cons Some of the "apps" in the Okta catalog are actually using password warehousing, instead of SAML, so it's important to pay attention to the details! Okta acts as a Directory Service. Pros I have used Okta in my last two companies. Okta is a great way to keep the office organized and secure. Cons The transition from our previous solution to Okta had some bumps. Cons Sometimes it seems the push works more reliably than entering a code. Not sure if that has to do with the way it was set up at my company, but either way I'm super happy with it. December 9, 2019 3.0 I think Okta works well, but it's cost-ineffective and not altogether useful. I'd recommend just using the built in functionality found in Google Chrome. Pros Okta does exactly what it says it does: store and protect your usernames and passwords. Each stored account is captured inside a shortcut in your Okta dashboard, allowing you secure, one-click access to your web services. Cons Here's what I'm unclear on with Okta...is it worth paying for? The same service is included with browsers such as Google Chrome at no cost and with comparable encryption. I have a longstanding relationship with Google, who I count on to innovate and protect my identity in an increasingly dangerous online environment. I couldn't tell you what advantage Okta provides. It works so well! I'm so glad I don't need to remember login details for all of them. It's a really great platform. Pros It's really easy to use Okta to manage all the apps I use in my daily work. I really like how easy it is to find all the apps within the Okta page, and how easy it is to sign into them. I like how I only have to use one set of sign in details to login to all of the apps with no hassle at all, all i have to do is login to Okta and then click on the apps and I'm in. In a previous job, we did not have this system and remembering the mountain of login details was a nightmare so I'm hugely thankful to Okta. Cons There is just one thing that I find annoying, which is how often I have to get an authentication text message sent. I know I can turn it off, but I kept forgetting to do that initially and it was so annoying! And also when I changed device or browser, or used incognito mode it did this. Instead of logging a flat 40 hours a week the time card is now down to the minute of time actually worked. Pros Okta is a very user friendly software. It has great functionality when used as a clock in software. It is easy to learn and implement. Cons During peak clock in/out times it takes a while to load. this could be due to the numerous employees in our organization. August 11, 2015 5.0 We've used OKTA for over 3 years to integrate SSO with Cloud based applications and custom in-house built solutions. OKTA is easy to configure for Cloud based apps. They give you step-by-step detailed instructions (with pics) on how to configure your Cloud app (Workday, Service Now, Salesforce, etc...ALL the cloud apps are here) and OKTA to just work. For custom in-house built applications, OKTA offers a variety of ways to integrate SSO. Pros Extremely easy to use with both Cloud and custom built applications. Once set up, it just works...always. Cons Sewing in your own authenticate into your custom apps requires some high-level technical expertise but OKTA offers plenty of examples on-line. We've used it for ASP.NET authentication and custom HTML5/JavaScript client applications.
