Our sales rep left out very important details that would have dissuaded us signing up. First, the SSO paywall for 3rd parties is so massive and of course they left out that detail. For $12k per year, our costs would exceed $50k in 3rd party charges, just to connect the core apps we use on a daily basis. Second, they said Okta would work seemlessly for our customer service reps, who check in on email accounts and different software services that we use; however, after talking to 3 customer service reps, we found out that we could not achieve this using Okta, making this all-or-nothing deal fall short of our needs. Thirdly, they insisted that we pay them to get support on the product that they sold us on. I would highly recommend first googling "SSO wall of shame" and thinking twice about signing with Okta. They are hounding us to pay for year 2 when we did not even launch it in year 1. Steer clear of these guys, they will bait and switch and they only care about signing new customers. Pros Getting the team set up was relatively straightforward. Cons Setting up individual apps can be tedious and not straightforward. They offered no support unless we paid them. The paywall for SSO is very steep. Multiple users cannot access single accounts using Verify. The biggest benefit is the fact that Okta is compatible with a host of applications (both internal and external). As a user, I've been greatly impressed by the tool and would recommend to anybody contemplating it. Pros truly lives up to its name by serving as a one stop shop eliminating the need to sign in to a host of applications separately hence reducing the time taken by such sign ons massively. Further, it also serves as a password manager/ vault and I, no longer, need to remember passwords to all the different applications (both internal and external) used at work. Our organisation is increasingly migrating more and more applications (such as VPN, microsoft office, our intranet logins, etc to Okta) - which is massive plus. Cons The initial set-up of the app takes some time to complete and can be slightly complicated. As an additional security layer, requires you to input a security code generated on the Okta Verify app on your phone. It is also incredibly useful for new hire onboarding because all of the applicable platforms and access points are in one place! It is very useful for compliance to track who has access to what, measure use and ensure application compliance. Cons Really nothing! It is so easy to use and is a "no brainer" when you're looking for an option. Always in the next second and SUPER easy to use. Would recommend! Cons 2 things: -Sometimes it doesn't recognize me in the correct location. Sometimes its FAR off. - When you mark "do not challenge for 24 hours" it only respects that if you log back in on the same web browser. If you close your computer or change browsers it will challenge you, even if you chose not to earlier. Only thing i would recommend them checking out. It is quick and efficient and always works as intended. Pros and Okta Verify work seamlessly together to house all of your user credentials in one place, as well as the ability to sign in quickly. It’s easy to organize and connect all of your most used sites and programs. Cons I find myself routinely telling to not capture passwords for certain sites, so it would be nice to able to “gray list” sites that you know for sure you don’t want to save a password. This way Okta wouldn’t have the pop up notification. Pros As a User of , it can be very easy to use, but it's not so easy to understand how it works when you first utilize a tool like this. Having everything all in one place is really simple and easy to use, especially with losing track of passwords. I think from a new employee experience it's great because you will have access to all the right tools you need as soon as you start within a company which makes the onboarding process very smooth. Cons \- forced resetting of the password every 8-ish weeks is super annoying. - Bit of a delay on the push notifications to authenticate. - Can be a bit frustrating when you switch devices to reset everything. Once you log in to Okta, there are no lags or delays. Pros Well, it's very easy to use because when you log in, you can see ahead all the tools that you need for your daily job. Salesforce, Snowflake, Azure, Power BI, etc. Especially for reporting/analytics it has reduced friction bouncing between applications to gather data from disparate software suites. Pros Supports a ton of stuff out of the box, and even the stuff it doesn't support officially can usually be made to work. For example, we used Azure Application Proxy to enable SSO for an old on-prem application that only officially supports Azure Federated Services. Their customer service was responsive in this endeavour, although see the cons for details. For supported issues, their CS was very good and quick. Cons While customer service is responsive, they sort of passed the buck when issues are between Okta and a non-supported application even when the issue is with Okta, not the unsupported thing. That said, there's a ton of community documentation so it's not the end of the world to find these answers on one's own. Even though it was an Okta issue, they deflected by saying the target wasn't a supported piece of software. Their professional services is NOT CHEAP.
