Pros: Unity is a good software for beginning at game designing, if at first you don't know most about programming, the tutorials it offers and it's large and friendly community will help you improve overall. Unity is also a really flexible and user friendly game engine that works wonders for small games

It supports and is compatible with every game
platform. Is easy to pick up and get started. Good for small simplistic games for mobile.Unity is extremely user friendly in comparison to other game engines. The Asset Store is a huge feature and helps a lot newcomers. If you like to be a game designer, I think Unity is the place to start.

Cons: You really need to invest a lot of time to learn how to use it because you need to know it's programming language and how to write the scripts before designing textures for games. You really need power in your pc or else it is going to crash a lot and get really buggy.

Overall: It is an excellent game designing system, you need to invest a lot of time to learn how to program with it though, but overall working with it is an amazing experience

Pros: It is extraordinary, it is a very complete tool, with unity I have learned to develop incredible video games. When you master the maximum, there is nothing that can not be developed.

Cons: I really do not find any flaw, it is a very powerful and useful tool. The only detail is that it is somewhat complicated for beginners.

Pros:

The latest version allows you to use shaders in a more visual way rather than working with code, which is great since this reduces the gap between game designers or artist and programmers, allowing game development more accessible for everyone.
Multi-platform, you can export a project to plenty of platforms.

Cons: Default lightning setting could be improved.
The lack of potentially powerful tools when it comes terrain creation.

Overall: Quick debug for projects for many devices.

Great game engine for small and large projects, in constant evolution and with a huge community.

Pros: Even without a visual scripting (like GMS or UE4), Unity is in my experience the easiest engine to learn. Additionally, newcomers can move really fast from creating simple games to more advanced creations. The documentation is really useful and installer includes Visual Studio which is just amazing for the task. Unlike other engines, Unity can run on older or less powerful machines (as dev or player). Also, the community is supportive, collaborative, lots of tutorials and documents can be found online.

Cons: My only complain is how official tutorials are made. They are great to show the overall of the engine functionalities but not to understand the context of each element. It's more like step by step on how to achieve something instead of why are we using the stuff used on the tutorial to achieve it. They are useful, but they could go a lot deeper.

Overall: Unity allowed me to easily try new concepts quickly without compromising a cent (like GM2 which is limited until you pay) and then, move from a simple concept to a full project easily. The code version storage (cloud) is perfect if you have a laptop and desktop so moving the code from one play to another can be done just with 2 clicks--literally, and it's integrated on the engine interface!

Pros: Unity is a an extremely powerful framework for building games. I built a mobile 2d game using it and after a few months I could fly around with no problems. It never slowed down my computer and rarely after had performance issues.

Cons: The paid plan is very expensive for an individual developer. The main feature that everyone wants, removing the splash screen, is only included on that plan.

Pros: Unity is easily integratable to other softwares like mixamo that make the game making process even easier, it not a must for the game developer to do the rigging and character designs within unity, instead integrate tools and import the models.

Cons: Signing in to unity account from the unity console is sometimes problematic with the same error(unable to connect) re-occurring.

Overall: This is the best tool for any beginner game developer out there. Very easy to learn and use.

Pros: Unity is easy to install and use for various operating systems such as windows, mac and linux. It offers endless possibilities and one is only limited to one's imagination. I also find that games developed using unity are more optimized compared to other platforms.

Cons: Unity requires a large amount of hard disk space and also consume ram heavily while in use. I also found that to use all features of unity I have to upgrade to the paid version.

Overall: As a game developer unity have offered me endless possibilities and made my work easier. It is also easy to use because to implement functionalities such as collision detection without mathematics.

Pros: It's free, from start and quite easy to use. It has a lot of free ( or paid) ressources and if your smart enought you can do quite everything with Unity.

Cons: I find it not at the same level that it mainly concurrent. Mainly because I find difficult to handle large simulation and also because it lacks real developpers tools accessibles to monitors what's happening in your VR scene. But that's also because I spend less time in Unity.

Pros: Offers a vast support of importing models created in different editors without changing them, you can program your game in c# or javascript which is very important for developers who don't have the time to learn new languages.

Cons: I don't like that in order a developer to use this piece of software needs to spend minimum of 10-15 hours studying it( watching videos, exploring yourself, reading documentations), overall i think they didn't do a good job organizing all the tools in common known menus.

Pros: - It is a tool with which you are creating content at the moment.
- Its learning curve to create basic and simple games in 2D and 3D is fast.
- Two languages for scripts, javascript and c #
- Drag and drop to reference and almost everything.

Cons: - Projects expand rapidly in size, especially if complex assets or high resolution 3D models are used.
- Performance problems on computers with low resources, the computer is heated, the CPU is triggered, and we need to have a PC in conditions.

Overall: Creation of simple and easy to use games in 2D and 3D

Pros: I'm recent user of this game development software, and I'm impressed, amazed, about the entire world that can be created through it.
Must be used in a coordinate way, applying to each object a function and use it together to create characters, lives, histories it's all a challenged.
Not only for fun, is good too for the learning and I see in this tool a continuous present of growth

Cons: I don't think this is a cons, but I it's important to know that this software must be learned step by step. Each windows, component, object... has many functionality. And it's extremely recommended to be a medium or senior programmer (better in C#) for take advantage of this powerful video game software

Pros: Unity is excellent for cross-platform game development. You only develop the game once and port it across multiple platforms including p.c, android and ios.
The software is very easy to use and the user experience is excellent.

Cons: The software requires initial form of training in order for the user to fully understand how it works. This may be a challenge for beginners without prior knowledge on how to use the software.

Pros: I wish Unity would have been around when I was a kid. I had aspirations to make games, I filled notebooks with game design and took programming classes... but I just couldn't pull it together on my own or meet the people that could have done it with me. Ever since Unity came along, all of that has changed. It covers the low level stuff that allows designer/developers like me to focus on the gamebuilding. I can't say that I've been a runaway success, but I've accomplished more as an adult- thanks to Unity, than I thought I ever would once I gave up on my dream in my late teens and focused on becoming a "regular" programmer.

Cons: It certainly isn't perfect. It has quirks and flaws, just like any other real world thing. All of those things are extensively documented across the net, and what is a blocking problem for some people goes unnoticed by others. That being said, the people Unity are working constantly to deliver requested features and make their users happy.

Overall: Changed my professional career.

Pros: As a game developer focus, I use Unity every day to design and develop video game projects. Timeline is my favorite feature in Unity. I add enemy waves for the game level with this feature of Unity. I am able to adjust coordination and duration of my game objects with Timeline. It is very much like editing films.

Cons: Sometimes, Unity adds some new features for the editor, machine learning agent, for example. It is not easy to learn these new features fast since there is a great amount of documentation. I hope Unity team can make their documentation more concise.

Pros: The main draw of unity is that you can write your code once, and deploy it to multiple platforms, namely IOS and android (although there are others, these are the two that most people will be interested in). unity has a nice combination of GUI and code based development where you have a main view that shows what your scene will look like, and then you can also pull up what are called scripts to provide some sort of function or behavior. these scrips can be associated with objects and run when they are created. it takes some getting used to, but it ultimately is very effective. Unity also has a wide variety of pre-defined scripts and objects that can be downloaded fro m their community of users. some are free and some need to be bought.

Cons: unity is a complex piece of software. it gives you lots of power, but there is a steep learning curve. a built in tutorial would be nice to help newbies like me get up to speed faster. although they do have a library of video tutorials, a built in interactive one would be better.

Pros: You can literally create any kind of game using Unity. From Real-time strategies, to MOBAs, to turn-based RPGs. I am seeing both huge gaming companies using it, and indie game enthusiasts that want to start building their first game.

Cons: I see a new trend where games made using Unity are very sloppy. The problem, I believe, is that it's ease-of-use backfires, and now you have amateurs and beginners making a lot of well-budgeted games that make it to the market. It used to be that only experienced and well trained people could finish a game and make it ready for distribution.

Overall: Using Unity you can be absolutely certain from the start, that this game will work, and it will work on many platforms.

Pros: Unity packs everything you could possibly want from a game design tool into one package, minus the fine asset creation. You can easily add in your assets for a 2D or 3D game, and code on the spot with C#. Finding bugs is made relatively easily, as long as you are testing your game regularly. Even the unity asset store gives you everything you need for at least baseline games, before unique assets are finalized.

Cons: I can't say there's much I dislike about Unity. Only thing I possibly could say is that the UI could see some more refinement. There's customization that could be had as far as moving units, but some of the menus are a little clunky or hide things that should be easier to find in a broad sense.

Pros: By far the best thing with this software is it's community and the amount of free assets. Those two combined make getting into Unity really easy.

Pros: Unity is one of the most powerful tools in the game design industry. It has so many features and tools! Pretty easy to use, the learning curve is low, so almost everybody can create his own game :)

Cons: In my opinion, the user interface looks a bit outdated, even in the latest version. Guys, it's 2018 already, please update it to something more modern! :) Other than that Unity is awesome.

A must have for any independent game developer.

Pros: The program can do so many things, beyond just 3D games.
The supplemental programs make developing games a breeze.
Tutorials are so simple to follow.
Free resources galore.
Customizable UI.

Cons: I don't have many cons, other than maybe additional language support?
Oh, and doesn't excel at 2D game design, but it does it better than most other 3D platforms.

Pros: One of the best softwares out there for game design! I can't stress it enough how much yu can do with Unity. Nothing is impossible and the level of detail you can add is incredible.

Cons: As far as simplicity in the UI I would say it's lacking. Kind of hard to find certain features without a good bit of research and can be a little load heavy on your computer.

Overall: I can create anything I want in a 3D space

Pros: Unity is hands down the best engine for lower budget and indie developers, but don't be fooled, it does not mean that the tools offered are compromised considering the budget of its user base.

Whether its the on the publishing side with full support of IOS and Android to the suite of engine tools that include (but not limited to) anim state machines, terrain sculpting, texture painting, global illumination lighting, etc.

Hands down, Unity is a fantastic choice for any developer looking for cutting edge development tools and results that won't break the bank.

Cons: While no game engine is perfect, in my experience, Unity is hands down the best you'll get for the price. With that said, I find it difficult to call out any 'Cons,' and only look forward to the features they continue to add.

Pros: Even thought the interface could be a little hard to understand at first, there is a lot of different walkthroughs all around to guide you in your journey.

Cons: Its probably not the best in making 2D games, so that is something that could be done better, its better known for its quality in developing 3D games

Cons: I've had one or two issues with customer support but nothing too horrendous, and some features aren't as great as some of the bigger design tools out there.

Pros: Unity is easy to use and allows you to make any sort of application as long as you have the inspiration and imagination. It also has a free option to see if Unity is right for you and your project.

Cons: Not as powerful as others on the market, also certain things may be locked out until you purchase a subscription

Overall: I use Unity every day at my job and I'm always discovering new things. If I want to try something new most of the time unity can do it.

Pros: I have used Unity now on several projects and will continue to do so. They have a very responsive dev team and some already great features making this the engine you should be using!

Cons: Coming from other game engines, I felt this was a more steep curve learning Unity, but after working out the kinks it was easy enough to pick up on the differences.

Pros: Unity is a powerful tool both for beginners and for experts, I most like about it that it makes your job as a game developer much easier. You don't have to take care of things that can be very time-consuming like creating builds for several plattforms and creating network connections.

The program itself already has a lot of features and tools, but the asset store is what makes it to one of the most pratical ones - thousands of useful assets (models, sounds, tools) can be used for free or bought in the asset store and is imported easily in your project.

The price range is pretty good, the free version already has a lot of features and the cheap "plus"-version should be sufficent for most smaller studios.

Cons: Unity can be very memory and also cpu-consuming and tends to crash from time to time, which can result in a significant loss of time. Also problematic are older projects and assets, as unity is updated frequently and backwards-compability, especially for asset-store items, is not always given.

Overall: We are using unity as basis for most of our games, so everything we do kind of evolves around Unity and it's tools.

Pros: Anyone that wants to make a game for any platform can learn this software in just a few days with no experience.

Pros: Price, performance, and ease of use are some of the biggest selling points for Unity3D. Unity3D personal edition is free and the tutorials allow you to learn without having to lay out anything for a license.

Cons: They change versions a few times a year which can be frustrating when trying to do older tutorials that haven't been updated to the most recent version.

Pros: Functionality
Flexibility
Platform support

Cons: Subscription model pricing.

Overall: I've been a Unity developer almost since inception, and a Unity iOS dev since the very first iOS Pro version. Unity3d is a phenomenal example of a tool that can be used by all levels of game / app dev, from rookie to AA or AAA-level pro. The Asset Store only enhances the experience (although Unity could benefit from some tighter QC of third-party offerings). However, the move to a subscription-only model for Pro users is a bit of a slap in the face to we who have paid for and championed the system for years., and the 40% off of a single year does little to lessen the blow.

To be fair, Unity is allowing us to keep our perpetual licenses, which I intend to do, though support and enhancements will be halted sooner than I'd like.

I recommend the "basic" level to all: it's free and it's very full-featured. Pro, however? Tough call: it's a costly contract that indies may find difficult to bear.
