### "Great for Employers and Employees"

March 3, 2026

5.0

I am not a top-level administrator for Paychex Flex, so my usage is more limited to our specific branch and ensuring paychecks are accurate, coordinating with our main branch in Canada to ensure the AP department has released paychecks not just on-time, but early, which has allowed Paychex Flex to deposit some employees checks as early as Wednesday. From an employee-usage side, it's a great way to easily access pay stubs, W-2s, retirement funds, and more, with almost zero hassle.

Pros

I love Paychex Flex for, dare I say, it's flexibility. It's allowed us to set up employees who work and live in the same state, in different states, ones who travel essentially year-round, and more, and have the taxes squared away for us. It's great for users as well, as it allows us, as users, to manage retirement (401k), manage direct deposit, and even manage taxes, right from the employee login. We don't use time clocks, so no time tracking is needed. Customer support has been amazing, helping solve issues as soon as something pops up. Great value for what it provides. It's extremely easy to view and pay bills, as well as employees.

Cons

The taxes calculated aren't perfect for cross-state employees, but it's very close. We don't use time clocks, as we're all salaried, so no tracking needed, but the communication features are somewhat lacking, and we do not use any to communicate with employees, rather doing so via phone calls or in-person.

### "Great Product for mid to large agencies"

March 2, 2026

4.0

Overall they are a great company and Paychex Flex was great when I had a larger agency great products.

Pros

I liked that the self-service aspect of the products and the ease of use. Customer support was good and for the size of my previous company the cost was good.

Cons

When I downsized I had some issues that they were not able to resolve. It was not on them though so I had to go with another company.

### "One of the best, but I would not recommend"

January 30, 2026

2.0

My overall experience would be although paychecks flex has one of the best platforms for payroll in HR. In my opinion it’s not worth the hassle.

Pros

Paychex flex has one of the best employee active self serve platforms that I’ve ever had the opportunity to use. Does not many bugs and issues a great value for your money and a perfect way for the team to communicate very easy to use.

Cons

What I like, least from paychecks was customer support, or lack there of. I’ve had one of the worst experiences, trying to get someone to reply to an email once you’re done with your demo paycheck. Flex becomes very un empathetic and very hard to reach.

### "Decent Product, Not Scaleable"

December 22, 2025

2.0

Pros

Paychex Flex was not necessarily an easy to use product, but almost easy navigating around. Unfortunately, we did run into a lot of issues with the product and the support was lacking. Once you got to the right place, it was easier.

Cons

Honestly, everything about Paychex Flex is lacking. Unfortunately, there software is lacking coming into the new age and it extremely outdated. The User interface is just a bunch of different modules integrated with eachother and not really user friendly. For the money, I would spend a little more and go elsewhere.

### "It's a contender"

Pros

There is an ease of use and a good value. I like the way the user interface looks. It's easy to navigate.

Cons

customer support can be slow, but I feel that you find that anywhere. There was no international payroll options that we were given, which is something that we need.

### "PayChex Review"

March 21, 2026

The navigating process is simple and easy to utilize. All of our employees can manage and track their time, and access the new PEO benefits beginning on 04/01/26.

Pros

Ease of use and I love that I can keep track of my payment schedule and have access to all of my hours worked and documents. Also, a new feature has been introduced to our practice. The PEO benefit where we as employees can take arrange if empire benefits, 401K, Health insurance and so forth.

Cons

There is nothing to dislike. I find PayChex to be very useful within our healthcare practice and it works really well.

My overall experience was good. This software was a great tool and I loved that it was cloud based as a manager.

Pros

Easy to use and navigate at times. The setup was manageable and allowed for easy learning and training not only for me as the manager, but training other employees to use it as well.

Cons

Sometimes, there were quirks and hang ups. It would get frozen, lock employees out or just not work when trying to onboard new employees.

### "Best way to manage pay and hours! "

February 4, 2026

5.0

Overall my experience has been amazing. Easy to use, great customer support when needed. It makes clocking in and out and managing paystubs a breeze.

Pros

Do easy to use. Keeps track of all your important job information. Makes clocking in and out a breeze. Gives you the option to check and be sure your hours are correct and let your management know if they are not. Definitely worth the costs. Also keeps a detailed list of members of your company do you can communicate directly easily.

Cons

The only issue I have had is a bug that keeps clicking me out around lunch. So I often have to have management go in and correct my hours.

### "DO NOT buy Paychex"

January 21, 2025

1.0

The only way I can describe our experience would be to tell anyone vetting this system to RUN. There are so many better options out there and I would gladly tell anyone looking to go with Paychex to look in absolutely any other direction. I try to find redeeming qualities, but I just can't with this system. The system is cumbersome and dated, the customer service is a nightmare and it is impossible to keep track of all of the different points of contact they give you, they don't even know who does what within the organization, and you will work harder to just manage the relationship than you will to manage your people.

Pros

I can't think of a thing I liked or would recommend about Paychex Flex.

Cons

Everything really. If I were to pick one thing, I would say that the disparate systems within systems is very convoluted and causes significant issues with reporting and maintenance of employee records. Every piece of the system (time and attendance, benefit admin, etc.) comes with a different "bolt-on" platform and service team. This caused immense issues and pain points throughout the entire employee life cycle. We are still unwinding all of the issues caused by our partnership with Paychex and left the platform four months ago. They are also terrible at ensuring timely and appropriate tax filings on our behalf.

### "Paychex Flex Review"

February 10, 2025

4.0

I feel like it is a slow going transition to Paychex. The system isn't totally user friendly, you need training to use it. They made promises that they have not kept yet. Still working on it.

Pros

I like the app that the employees use to log in their time. Clock in/clock out and that is shows me the location when they punch in/out.

Cons

I am unable to pull a report showing the punch times and locations. Their report shows coordinates of their location, totally useless.

### "Still happy with Paychex Flex"

December 1, 2025

5.0

Our experience overall has been very satisfactory. The platform interfaces well with our timekeeping system so payroll processing takes much less time.

Pros

Ease and accuracy of use. Also, when we have a question, we get an answer quickly. Reps are always pleasant.

Cons

We have one PTO matter that no one seems to be able to explain why it exists. We have a workaround, but it's hard to believe there's no explanation.

### "Paychex overall is good"

February 7, 2025

Pretty good. Love having payroll taxes & workers comp taken out weekly. Love having everything in one place. They need to streamline the day to day process though.

Pros

That we can have time clock & payroll in the same place.

Cons

The app lags extremly bad. On the desk top version, it's very cumbersome to get around and do things. way too many steps to process time cards etc.

### "Unless you are very small and need only simple reports, look elsewhere."

August 4, 2025

1.0

Sorry to be so blunt, but it was a complete nightmare. I have worked with two companies in a row, where I cam in and they were using Paychex. Both places begged me to find a better payroll provider that met their needs. Each time I found a new payroll provider that could supply the employer with what fit their needs (and yes it was two different payroll providers).

Pros

Only positive is that it is cheaper than other payroll companies and very easy to use. It is vey hard to find anything very positive with all my experience with Paychex.

Cons

Customer service is not very pleasant to deal with when I had to call and place complaints for mistakes on Paychex's part. I would not trust them with proper tax filings, they have very basic reports and you have to call for any report that may be a regular report for you but is not one of their very basic reports.

### "Emotional distress is free with your subscription"

May 19, 2025

1.0

Paychex is a horrific company to deal with. For the past three months, I have been trying to get them to process an organization resolution to make me the administrator of our company 401k. I am the sole business owner and sole surviving board member as of my husband’s passing in February. Every time I faxed it, they said they never received it. When I began emailing it, they told me that they couldn’t process it because I signed it and that another board member needs to sign it. Then they said I needed to go find a random person to sign it on behalf of the board, and it didn't matter who. Then, when I called after doing all of that, they told me they had all of the paperwork and it looked correct but that I would need to call back in a few weeks to follow up. When I called back today, the agent told me they never received any of my paperwork. Then, he said he didn’t have the permission to access email attachments. When he miraculously was able to access email attachments, he said because it was over 30 days old, they couldn’t process it. This is despite the fact that when I called them the previous time, they told us that everything was filled out correctly and to wait several weeks before calling back to give them time process it. I was escalated to a supervisor who had me read my previous emails out loud to her on the phone because she didn’t believe no one told me that it was filled out incorrectly. Then, she escalated me to her supervisor, who said the same thing. They apologize, but no one can actually help you. Additionally, since before my husband died, we found out that Paychex gave all of our employees access to Flock, their new system, without giving us Flock access. In the process, they gave past employees who no longer worked for us access to enroll in our health benefits which we paid for. By the time we got access to Flock, we couldn’t even see those employees as termed employees because they predated our migration to the system and thus we couldn’t manage their benefits ourselves. It took months of calling and emailing our small business regional team and their supervisor \[sensitive content hidden\] for them to even acknowledge that they had done this. Then, they informed me that since I hadn’t been migrated to Flock, I was supposed to terminate them in Flex and that they couldn’t help me because of this. However, I had terminated them in Flex. When I showed them proof of this, they were able to help me. Finally, in the Flock system, when I tried to update my husband’s insurance since he is deceased and I needed to enroll in benefits, the Flock system could not process it even with his death certificate. I reached out to their team and the initial response was that I do not qualify since I’m on my husband’s plan. The agent was helpful once she understood that my husband had passed, but after we finally were enrolled in benefits, another agent emailed us asking why this had happened since apparently my daughter and I were still on my husband’s plan in their records and she wanted to correct the mistake. I had to ask her not to take us off the plan, and I never received a response from her. For all I know, I may find out my benefits were cancelled. We’ve always had a horrific time with this company, but the mental anguish they have caused me as I grieve my husband is unfathomable. It is their MO to pretend they never received something or that you didn’t properly notify them until you provide them with the proof that you did everything they requested. Best of all, I can’t even change payroll companies because they won’t process any of my requests to become an administrator. Stay far, far away from this company.

Pros

Nothing - there isn't a single good thing I would say about Paychex. The only reason why I haven't left them is I can't since they won't process our organization resolutions.

Cons

Customer service. I have only ever had one positive interaction with a Paychex employee and that was with the agent who helped me cancel my deceased husband's insurance benefits since their software didn't understand why a deceased employee with a death certificate wouldn't want insurance.

### "Not Impressed "

October 29, 2025

Overall, it wasn't a positive experience. However, in the end it wasn't my decision, it was my supervisors. But I didn't feel like it was worth the money that we spent.

Pros

It was pretty easy to use. The platform was straight forward and I never had an issue processing payroll. They also offered pretty comprehensive training.

Cons

It was very difficult to ever get a response for any payroll or HR related questions. No one would answer my call and it took days to get a response. It was also a very expensive product to use and had sub-par health insurance.

Overall my experience with Paychex has been positive. Using the Hiring interface has shown to be very helpful in selecting potential candidates for positions at my facility. It's also great to have access to Paychex when I'm away from work by using the app.

Pros

I like Paychex Flex because it allows me to easily track my paystubs and vacation days. It's also easy to review information and documents from my companies HR department and resumes from potential new hires.

Cons

### " A Convenient and Reliable Payroll Solution"

September 6, 2025

4.0

Overall, my experience with Paychex Flex has been positive. The app is convenient and easy to use, payroll runs smoothly, and the self-service features save a lot of time for both employees and managers. While there are a few drawbacks with reporting and occasional support issues, the platform overall makes payroll and HR tasks much more manageable.

Pros

Paychex Flex is an easy-to-use payroll system. Th mobile app is super easy to use once you get it set up. Really makes managing pay stubs, W-2s, and PTO simple. It has several self-service tools for employees, automatic payroll tax compliance, and several other features.

Cons

The downsides of Paychex Flex are that some features cost extra, the reports can be a little tricky to figure out, and customer support isn’t always consistent. The system works well overall, but parts of it do feel a bit outdated at times.

### "User Friendly "

I found it easy to use. It was easy to review timecards, add associates, modify information. I would need assistance only when the clocks would be moved.

Pros

Very helpful when I needed tech support. We moved a couple of times and every time I requested help getting the timeclock reset up, every person I talked to was very good at explaining what to do.

Cons

Can't really say anything was bad, it was very user friendly. Occasionally , the time clocks would not sync and that would be a little frustrating, but it was easily resolved.

It's better than some apps I've used but not as good as others.

Pros

The reports are good and easy to customize.

Cons

The modules work independently of each other. One should be able to enter information in one location and have it 'spread out' to all other locations. This does not happen so you often have to enter the same information in multiple locations.

We ended up moving way from it due to the hidden fees and lack of transparency, but maybe we just couldn’t figure it out. Our new system is very good.

Pros

It’s popular and used across multiple platforms which made it easy to integrate with as the options were available.

Cons

Most everything else. The hidden fees, the lack of customer support. It is as a suggestion from a lender we use but it’s not very user friendly in my opinion.

### "There are better companies to choose from"

October 10, 2025

We had some issues with multiple checks submitted for the same person. It seemed like our commission checks were always messed up and added to one check.

Pros

Paychex is easy to submit and create weekly payroll. Several features are included for no extra fee such as, garnishments, custom plans and tax filing.

Cons

We will be using time tracking through Paylocity and Paycheck does not offer this feature. Once you are no longer a member, you need to contact them to have paycheck stubs, W2's and any additional information printed.
