All of our employees can manage and track their time, and access the new PEO benefits beginning on 04/01/26. Pros Ease of use and I love that I can keep track of my payment schedule and have access to all of my hours worked and documents. Also, a new feature has been introduced to our practice. The PEO benefit where we as employees can take arrange if empire benefits, 401K, Health insurance and so forth. Cons There is nothing to dislike. I find PayChex to be very useful within our healthcare practice and it works really well. With banks releasing funds 1-2 days early I always would spend hours explaining to staff that it was not us but the payroll service that had to release the funds and generally released them very late in the week although my payroll was completed on Mondays Pros The staff that I encountered was very helpful and always assisted when possible, it just always seems I had always talked to someone that may not have been as knowledgeable about the procedures and processes to correct problems Cons The pricing and the length of time it took to resolve issues with payroll. In my time working with them I rarely ever encountered anyone who was able to immediately fix an issue without involving other staff members Review Source Deborah T. Controller Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Great software with many capabilities" March 6, 2026 5.0 When we first began with Paychex Flex the program needed tweaking to suit the construction industry, multiple job locations which meant multiple taxing jurisdictions and sometimes as many as 4 local taxes to be withheld for one job location. Once these were worked through it worked very well. Pros The ease of use, functionality of software, the software being able to handle all tax withholding of various local jurisdictions. Cons It wasn't always easy to connect with the account assigned representative, however the next available staff was always very helpful and knowledgeable. Switched from [Paycor](https://www.capterra.com/p/133745/Paycor-Perform/) Paychex Flex was slightly less expensive and could handle the multi-jurisdictions that we needed for the construction industry. April 14, 2026 4.0 Paychex Flex.is a great option for a small to medium sized company. Software was easy to use and understand, and their customer service was top notch. Pros Easy to use, and fairly affordable. The Flex software worked great. Perfect.payroll solution for small to midsized companies. Cons The pricing continued.to increase every year until it was unaffordable. Set up process was a bit complicated, as well as the process of leaving the service. This software was a great tool and I loved that it was cloud based as a manager. Pros Easy to use and navigate at times. The setup was manageable and allowed for easy learning and training not only for me as the manager, but training other employees to use it as well. Cons Sometimes, there were quirks and hang ups. Very intuitive so you can pretty much figure out everything yourself. Helpful customer support. Makes all the tax allocations by state easy. Cons Some of the functionalities have different support teams, and the teams aren't cross-trained - so you can wait on hold only to be told that they need to transfer you elsewhere. My dedicated rep is never available and hold times can be very long for general support. IT allows the user to easily navigate and quickly understand the UI. Cons The only bug I have ever ran into is the authentication servers were down for an entire day, so we were unable to login. January 27, 2026 5.0 It's nice to have everything right in my phone and get it when I need and want it. The layout is nice and nothing is complicated. More so, Paychex Flex offers documentation via PDF that is ready to print, analytics and more. Having used it both as an admin and also as an employee, it has been a positive experience. Pros Ease of use was the first and best thing I liked about Paychex Flex. In addition, having access to paystubs and being able to update any changes to my address were great to do right away when needed. Analytics Cons On occasion, there were troubles logging in, but time was not pressing and they agents were able to assist when they could. The internal "report" system is great for people that know when there really is an issue... however when you have mostly college age kids working, they tend to report arbitrary things and it can swamp with alerts. But still a cool feature that is included internally! The navigation pane is organized well and easy to use. I enjoy using this product. Pros I like that Paychex Flex is so easy to use. I can easily access my hours, paystubs, and request PTO from my organization. Cons I do not like how when I clock in on the dashboard screen, it is not reflected in my log. Instead, I have to go to Time & Attendance to clock in and see it reflected in my log. There are so many better options out there and I would gladly tell anyone looking to go with Paychex to look in absolutely any other direction. I try to find redeeming qualities, but I just can't with this system. The system is cumbersome and dated, the customer service is a nightmare and it is impossible to keep track of all of the different points of contact they give you, they don't even know who does what within the organization, and you will work harder to just manage the relationship than you will to manage your people. Pros I can't think of a thing I liked or would recommend about Paychex Flex. Cons Everything really. If I were to pick one thing, I would say that the disparate systems within systems is very convoluted and causes significant issues with reporting and maintenance of employee records. Every piece of the system (time and attendance, benefit admin, etc.) comes with a different "bolt-on" platform and service team. This caused immense issues and pain points throughout the entire employee life cycle. We are still unwinding all of the issues caused by our partnership with Paychex and left the platform four months ago. They are also terrible at ensuring timely and appropriate tax filings on our behalf. Switched from [ADP Workforce Now](https://www.capterra.com/p/155895/WorkforceNow/) My predecessors made the decision to switch from ADP to Paychex. August 4, 2025 1.0 Sorry to be so blunt, but it was a complete nightmare. I have worked with two companies in a row, where I cam in and they were using Paychex. Both places begged me to find a better payroll provider that met their needs. Each time I found a new payroll provider that could supply the employer with what fit their needs (and yes it was two different payroll providers). Pros Only positive is that it is cheaper than other payroll companies and very easy to use. It is vey hard to find anything very positive with all my experience with Paychex. Cons Customer service is not very pleasant to deal with when I had to call and place complaints for mistakes on Paychex's part. I would not trust them with proper tax filings, they have very basic reports and you have to call for any report that may be a regular report for you but is not one of their very basic reports. The reporting features are great but would use some improvement for example tracking call offs and leave management. Cons The clocks we are using have been problematic, specifically the camera. The sensitivity has caused many enrollment issues. However, in the end it wasn't my decision, it was my supervisors. But I didn't feel like it was worth the money that we spent. Pros It was pretty easy to use. The platform was straight forward and I never had an issue processing payroll. They also offered pretty comprehensive training. Cons It was very difficult to ever get a response for any payroll or HR related questions. No one would answer my call and it took days to get a response. I like that you can review all checks and past deposits. I like being able to look at my savings accounts. Cons What I dont like is the fact that past employers can restict access to your information after you leave their company.
