Paychex Flex is a very easy system to learn and use.

Pros

I like how easy it is for my staff to be able to clock in. They also can see their paychecks very easily

Cons

There isn't much that I don't like. Most functions are very easily to use. I wish our benefits would link over so employee's can make changes to health/dental.

Pros

I really liked Paychex Flex during the time my company used it. It was easy to use and accessible both from my desktop and mobile phone. It was a simple interface that didn't take up a lot of time to use. I could see where I was in my time for the day quickly at a glance. You had flexibility about how you entered your breaks and meals as well.

Cons

Some people were having trouble with their time punches and notes. Time clock notes are limited to a couple of sentences and sometimes the time punch wouldn't register and you'd have to go back and correct it. I didn't mind because for the most part, the software was very easy to use.

I like the program so far besides the interface and small text.

Pros

I like how user friendly the Paychex Flex system is to clock in and out. I really like how easy it is to access the benefits page and see what you have elected to have. Everything you need is easily accessible through the Paychex system.

Cons

I don't like how the program looks overall. The font is very small making it hard to read each name. I wish the system had a more modern look.

Sub-par....The system is very old looking and the way some of the tabs works make no sense. Also if you have a question about anything be prepared to be on the phone for a least 1/2 an hour or more. There also not one person to reach out to about everything, you have to keep track of everyone that you speak with depending on what branch they manage.

Pros

The one thing that Paychex does do well and that they are truly a one stop shop for everything if you are a small business. They will manage your insurance benefits, cobra, 401K and everything in between.

Cons

Its old, its hard to reach anyone on the phone, the look of it is outdated. Just needs a new look and new approach to get with the times.

Pros

Paychex has been top-notch for over five years, when I switched to them from another payroll company. I operate a small seasonal business with about 10 employees, and from the beginning I have received all the support that I need for my payroll and tax responsibilities, and at a more reasonable rate than I was paying before. I deal with one single payroll specialist every week (unless she is on vacation or something), which I love, and if she is unavailable the fill-in specialists have been able to take care of my payroll, which is not quite standard, without any issues. The website took a little getting used to initially, but I download my reports from there every week, quarter, and year, and everything is easy to find and use. I couldn't recommend Paychex more highly, at least for any business such as mine.

Cons

If anything, I feel that it would be good to consider a website review and edit - I do not have anything specific to offer in terms of what to change, but it did seem a little confusing the first few times using it. I don't have any issues now, but admittedly I only log on to do the same thing (download the report) each week, quarter, and year.

overall it is a great app for what we are looking for.

Pros

it is a good option for employees to clock in time and out, request time off, and edit 401k provided.

Cons

clocking in and out is sometimes a difficult task. just to log in to clock in or out of your time it is a long ;loading time and usually asks to send a text to reverify your log in.

### "Painful But Feel Stuck After 10 Years"

Pros

There are some customizations on the layout and the interface is simple and clean

Cons

Customer service is horrible -- people are clueless -- I had one amazing payroll specialist for eight years -- only ever had to call her but four times a year and she was amazing. Now the people they have transferred me to are CLUELESS and USELESS -- our taxes in the new states we have entered are a disaster and no remediation

With features like biometric login and mobile app integration, employees could quickly clock in from anywhere, at their desks, on the job site, or working remotely. This flexibility significantly improved the accuracy of time tracking, as employees no longer had to rely on remembering to clock in manually.

Pros

The customer service when we need guidance on using the software or need assistance with any errors that need correcting.

Cons

Sometimes it is not clear or seems impossible to correct time-clock errors efficiently.

Pros

Use it to expand your business as it provides the best solution for any arising problem.Our payroll is now made easy and more simplified.Its a very easy to use software which doesn't take a lot of time to implement.Through paychex Flex system everything is under control.

Their customer service is a bit slow but we had to cope up with it.

If you don't need accurate time clock functionality, Paychex Flex is a great way to have a payroll processing solution.

Pros

The ease of use is the key selling point for Paychex Flex. As a small business owner with little to no HR/Accounting experience, Paychex made payroll and employee management simple and easy.

Cons

Their employee app and time/attendance functionality is terrible. Time clocks were never accurate, difficult to correct, and is the reason we switched providers.

Pretty bad if I'm being honest. If we were to pick software again, we would pick someone else.

Pros

The customer service is helpful, although I wish I didn't have to call them as much as I do.

Cons

It's surprising to me that this company is a big competitor in this space. I think their software is extremely difficult to learn how to use and graphically looks like it was made in Windows 95. I use the administrative side mostly and have people coming to me all the time with questions because it's not easy or intuitive enough to learn on your own. Software should be created and designed so that it's easy enough for people to pick up and start using immediately. PayChex Flex is not one of those softwares.

Pros

Paychex is great for experienced and inexperienced, like myself, and submitting and maintaining a legal payroll. I have never had any tax issues since using their software and am very pleased with their response time .

Cons

It’s semi expensive. I was able to negotiate a fee but for a small business it’s a bigger expense.

It is great for a small company, and it has lots of flexibility on how to use it, but when the needs become higher, i feel it lacks that little something.

Pros

It is user friendly, and it is very easy to make adjustments, and find forms. Customer service is impeccable, our rep was amazing!

Cons

Bonuses or one time payments were a little too complicated. One time payments when I have substitute teachers need to be entered nearly from scratch, i'd like to choose what is to be remembered by the program and what to not. Report flexibility, customizing a report was a little too much. Sometimes I experienced glitches and had to verify with a rep that it went through.

Procured the total HRO package (payroll, 401k, FSA, Time & Attendance, HRIS, HR Compliance and HR Generalist). There is no HRIS compatibility with the Payroll system, one has to run separate reports. Anytime Paychex updates their website, links do not work to the other features and or issues occur. Example, PTO accrual stopped working properly so we had to start accruing PTO manually and users not properly redirected to their links in the Learning center. On the payroll side the support is a black hole. Specifically any state registrations that are not properly loaded by Paychex and result in state tax fees which do not get resolved without employer paying penalty. Numerous emails do not get acknowledged. The implementation process is juvenile and lacks complete project management scope. Overall communication and execution by Paychex is so poor, one finally stops being frustrated and simply begins search for better system, which we are doing.

Pros

Compliance. Nice to have employee handbook online and learning center for compliance training is also helpful. While Paychex payroll has strong workflow rules and meets general processing requirements, they make everything else so painful, therefore one could never recommend them. It would be like telling someone it's okay to cross a bridge that you know could collapse any moment and that you know is no longer maintained.

Cons

Assigned customer reps - unresponsive or not timely in responses until escalations. Paychex's lack of technology understanding - every time they upgrade they do not test what the impact to customer use and all their products. They had a big upgrade in late December 2015, their system was not accessible from early morning until the evening (end of year!). Multiple email and calls yielded no information. Finally at 4pm we get an email that they were experiencing problems and would be back live shortly. Who does that? While learning center is a nice to have, spent an hour giving feedback and nothing changed, e.g., the CA Manager Anti- Sexual harassment training is 2.5 hours all in one shot. Not standard for training needs - asked them to break into 4 modules so it would not be daunting to busy leaders....crickets.

Pros

I enjoy most about Paychex Flex the ease in which I can see my worked hours and process of submitting time off.

Cons

There is room for improvement with the icons for changing status, i.e. clock in, lunch, etc. Instead of a horizontal display, I think that a vertical display would work better to avoid accidentally clicking multiple icons in a row.

We were able to reduce storage of paper statements that were never picked up. We were able to increase employee morale by giving our employees the ability to see their own data and make time off requests on their own.

Pros

The user friendly approach within the Employee Online Access. We had employees that were afraid to go paperless with pay statements but with a little training everyone began utilizing the system. I liked the time and attendance module which allowed employees to see their own timesheets and administratiors to make corrections/update their staff timesheets and approve prior to payroll processing.

Cons

I disliked the fact that the payroll module didn't link directly with time and attendance, we had thought that what was done in time and attendance regarding time off balances would automatically feed to payroll and reflect on our employees pay statements. But we found out that we had to do adjustments in both windows to ensure it matched.

App on my phone is extremely convenient and easy to navigate Never had an issue getting in touch with customer service for any reasons The ability to look at previous paychecks is nice and paperless is great! My managers always said it was the easiest way to keep track of all the employees

I have no cons regarding Paychex Flex! I reccommend to any business with multiple employees!

### "It was big mistake switching to Paychex"

No benefits, just troubles, especially because of Paychex customer service with either lack of the software knowledge or being very poorly managed. Or probably both.

Pros

Sales people have been very efficient and set high expectations, so being not really happy with ADP I decided to switch, what a mistake! There is no 1 point of contact there, my first dedicated payroll specialist would not even reply to my email, the second replies promptly but only with answers like "for this question call this number, and for that question call different number", so payroll specialist acts like an operator. Sales people did not finish setting up my account and did not sign me up for paying any state taxes. I learned it only when start getting state notices and penalties. After that (July!!!) the account finally was set up. I was assured Paychex would pay all the penalties and will write all responses to IRS. Shortly after that I receive a letter from another Paychex person stating: '''''......Based on our findings, our records indicate that your company did not request set up for MA State Withholding on the Paychex Taxpay Service until 4/10/2018. As a result, the return and tax payment were not filed by Paychex for the missing tax period. Based on our current resources, this does not appear to be the result of a Paychex error. "

Cons

General ledger uploaded to Quickbooks does not match bank transactions. For QB users big problem. Paychex Customer Service unable to fix.

Pros

very user friendly, simple, modern layout overall. Easy to follow drop down menus for the various categories employees could view. They even went so far as to notify users when PayChex would be down for maintenance which was convenient and transparent for them to communicate that. PayChex would even email confirmations or rejections of PTO, which I found helpful and could easily make a calendar update through that email.

Cons

Sometimes the clock in/out feature didnt properly log time on the main home screen so we had to go into the drop down menus as a work around. That didn't happen too often though.

Paychex Flex has cut the time we spend processing payroll requests in half, if not more. Giving employees the ability to make most changes on their own allows our Payroll Admin to focus on other parts of the business that require more attention.

Pros

I love that I can get new employees set up as users during their onboarding, then this becomes their one-stop-shop for all things payroll. They can access this site to get their pay stubs, make changes to their direct deposit, enroll/change health benefits, and even make adjustments to their 401k plans.

Cons

The only real con I have found with this system is that employees can not make changes to their mailing addresses themselves. They are still required to fill out a form for our Payroll Admin and he has to call Paychex to make the change. This seems like something simple that employees should be able to do themeselves.

We value Paychex Flex because employees can manage their individual accounts. Additionally, new hires can enter their personal information - banking and tax information, which reduces errors and promotes ownership for what is in the system.

Cons

The system is addressing our needs currently; therefore, we do not have anything to report in this section.
