### "Great option for outsourcing your payroll"

February 17, 2022

5.0

Paychex Flex has been a great option for our small business. We have yet to have any issues with the system.

Pros

It is quite easy to learn and use. The set up is clean and user friendly and you can find your way around without being directed on where to go.

Cons

I can't really say there is any one thing that I don't like.

Reason for choosing Paychex Flex

We chose Paychex because of their ability to work with us in a timely manner and promise to get us up and running quickly and smoothly. They were very receptive to our needs and made the process quite easy. They also were familiar with our CRM system as they have many customers who use it so that made it even easier for us.

### "Horrible communication "

March 11, 2020

1.0

Well not be back ever to the company and we do not recommend this company

Pros

The website was very easy to use and maneuver. Loved the set up of the website for paychex flex.

Cons

Customer service was horrible transfer and then whwn i did get someone id ask a question and they said i dont know an hung up after being on hold for an hour! Information was constantly being impouted wrong after writting emails calling and letters being sent to correct the problem. When transferred to a new payroll company they didnt hand over all the information correctly and employees payrolls where messed up as well as taxes. A manger or owner of a branch was to meet with our company about the problem set up a day and time and never showed up !

### "It Does the Job but at a Costly Rate"

January 13, 2021

4.0

I would not recommend Paychex as there must be better alternatives on the market. Their customer service is not great whether you are dealing with sales or a support department.

Pros

Paychex Flex is successful at providing a relatively smooth HR portal which includes time and attendance, payroll, retirement services (401K) and more general HR features.

Cons

The issue with Paychex is less about the product and more about their company. Paychex's convoluted billing is difficult for customers to understand and pricing can change quickly and erratically.

### "If you’re looking for help with Payroll - DONT USE "

April 21, 2020

2.0

My overall experience was terrible. They will SELL SELL SELL like crazy on the features they have that are overpriced and not great. (Specifically 401K, Business Insurance, Workers Comp Insurance) They're good at selling so they will sell you extra items and you will never again hear from someone. Not for help, not to check in, not even to provide you your necessary information. They just hope you find it on your own because again, THEY DO NOT CARE about their guests business.

Pros

The thing I liked most about Paychex was the ease of use when running a payroll. I could do it from an app on my phone if I needed to. However, this was the ONLY thing I liked as well.

Cons

It’s hard to pick what was the worst. I would say the customer service was certainly the worst. They had messed up in MAJOR ways once for my company costing us THOUSANDS of dollars. They claim to have no idea what I’m talking about even with a paper train of tracked emails. They just didn’t care enough to fix it, or even apologize. Simply denied the situation. That have absolutely no accountability for their actions. Your payroll provider needs to be a partner in your business, they need to be willing to help you and understand how urgent payroll is. Paychex does not care about you, or helping you.

Reason for choosing Paychex Flex

### "User Friendly"

October 25, 2022

5.0

I love that Paychex Flex is very user friendly.

Pros

I use Paychex Flex to clock in and out daily, check my time card, request time off and for retreiving an W2. I love that this portal is very user friendly. Nothing is hidden. You can easily find what you are looking for using the tabs on the side. You can also customize your home screen to display what you are needed. As soon as I login in I'm able to clock in and out, view how many hours of PTO I have as well as paystubs.

Cons

I would improve being able to have more widgets in the home screen so you are able to see your time card and attendance right on your home screen. It would be easier to track.

### "PayChex Flex is not that flexible. "

May 28, 2020

4.0

Intuit should concede with their payroll platform and buy paychex, and paychex should enhance their integration and modernize the platform to something more agile like quickbooks. Employees should be able to onboard easier just as if they were buying something on Amazon. All of the 3rd party vendors that seem to be value added services are just more portals and passwords needing to be centralized.

Pros

When it works and the overloaded staff can actually assist you, it is an absolutely awesome service. I have used PayChex since about 2015. Back in the day my first representative was the absolute most amazing advisor and gave me confidence when speaking with her because I could tell she knew her job. Over time as we added more states and switched companies, our SUI numbers became switched, bank accounts and invoicing was not aligned.

Cons

Besides the reports that you are inundated with, the platform feels like it can actually perform, but truthfully it is pitiful java platform. The two factor auth is great but gets on my nerves and the fact that you cannot integrate with other identity providers or into your actual backoffice systems is a shame.

Reason for choosing Paychex Flex

Mainly because they are based in Oklahoma and the support was amazing. My sales rep is amazing, but for the cost and the fact that payroll doesn't change much, it is cheaper to let them initially configure it and just pass it to your CPA. The fact they charge per employee per company is dumb too.

### "I would rather do payroll myself than continue using Paychex"

March 14, 2023

1.0

Terrible. Absolutely terrible! I will NEVER use this company again.

Pros

Every employee has their own login information

Cons

Customer support. I went through THREE account reps before deciding to find someone else, and NONE OF THEM would answer the phone, return calls, or respond to emails. I finally got the retention team on the phone, who assured me that my rep's supervisor would call me on a specific day at a specific time. That phone call never happened. When I spoke with the retention department again, they informed me it was because it was the supervisors last day in that position, as he was getting a promotion. A supervisor with at least 3 team members who cannot be bothered to speak to a customer and couldn't be bothered himself got promoted.

### "Paychex Flex is a robust payroll solution that can accommodate almost any payroll need. "

July 26, 2018

4.0

Pros

Together with the company's team of payroll specialists, Paychex Flex is an effective payroll solution for small and large companies alike. As administrator for a small company, I appreciate having permissions to manage my company's staff in the tool while allowing the payroll specialist from Paychex to key in the biweekly payroll data. This delegation of duties gives me control over the the job functions that are most important to me. The General Ledger integration with QuickBooks Online is configurable and works well once set up to meet your business needs. The 3rd party integrator's staff is professional and diaplays an expert knowledge of both Paychex Flex and Quickbooks. What I like most about Paychex Flex is that our tax returns and payments at the Federal level and for most states are done for us automatically.

Cons

The browser interface is unattractive and not always self explanatory. The client id, which is needed on all email correspondence with your payroll specialist and is displayed on the banner at the top of the screen, cannot be copied and pasted into emails. The filter feature on the Person screen doesn't work consistently, and I frequently have to reapply the same filter so that only active staff appear. Online help for the software can be misleading or inaccurate. After following instructions for 1) giving access to staff and 2) adding a new state for withholdings, without success, I learned from my payroll specialist that I didn't have the ability to perform either task through the software.

### "Very Convenient and User Friendly"

October 4, 2022

5.0

Overall I definitely recommend for businesses. It helps us avoid going to HR for every sing questions and gives more power to the employee as a user to understand their finances better!

Pros

I love how easy it is to find information on my paychecks, vacation hours, sick hours, and tax information. It is like I have checks and balances at my fingertips.

Cons

Sometimes it is not easy to understand the information provided regarding my 401 K. It would be helpful to have a section similar to "401 K explanation for dummies". Also it is not obvious how our vacation hours are accumulated or the formula used the calculate them.

### "Worst payroll company available."

May 22, 2018

1.0

None, whatsoever.

Pros

We thought there were pros when we first signed on. We thought they were great until all the mistakes started rolling in. Honestly, there aren't any pros.

Cons

They mess up all time, entries, insurance... they mess up everything. No one pays attention to their work. We used to have cafeteria health plan that was cancelled shortly thereafter. We called to cancel, and thinking they did we didn't bother to check their work. That is until 2-1/2 years later when I saw they were still taking money for this plan that we had thought we cancelled through them. The service people we spoke with were all extremely rude and made it sound like our fault. They finally ultimately refunded all of the money they took from us without our knowledge or permission (they essentially embezzled from us for 2-1/2 years). I still get calls from them trying to get us to switch and every time, I must explain to them why we will NEVER go with them again. Several times I nearly had to hang up on the sales people because they don't listen.

### "Don't bite off more than you can chew"

January 7, 2019

4.0

We transferred over from Preview to Flex in March and have had some sort of issue (always a new problem) with running payroll from glitches, to inaccuracies in accruals due to incomplete data transfers to random errors like pay rates suddenly not being mapped to the proper pay components. Overall Paychex has great features and I love that our employees are offered the option to view their stubs and w-2s online and request time off but, I feel like they need to train their employees more on their updates and work out the kinks before they release updates because it causes a lot of unexpected error on the user end which cause a delay and inconvenisnce on our end.

Pros

I like that their Flex software is "live" and you no longer need to transmit hours as a file.

Cons

New features are released with glitches, representatives are NEVER available, it takes a lot of follow-up to get assistance and they pass you from representative to representative like a "hot potato".

### "Still the gold standard of HR software"

September 11, 2021

5.0

Excellent experience - used throughout our bank

Pros

Paychex has been around a long time and there is a reason for it. Still the gold standard in HR with the number of features in their flagship product and comprehensive suite of HR systems from payroll to benefit tracking to staff database. Like most the ease of deployment, excellent customer service, mature product cycle and stable version upgrades

Cons

GUI needs improvement, needs to be more touch friendly for IPAD and iOS / android users provide actionable real time alerts for failures in processing Support part time / contract workers

### "Paycheck Flex App"

July 12, 2022

4.0

So far so good, I mean its fairly new to us but so far I have no complaints.

Pros

I like the fact that it is super easy to use and I may manage my direct deposit options. It's nice that there's no middle person involved in the part. Like I previously stated, in my old job we would have to fill out another direct deposit slip and provide it to the HR department. With this software, I can do it on my own time and do not need to involve HR.

Cons

Honestly, the fact that the software not only looks but is very basic. But maybe that's why it's also very manageable.

### "Paychex with Flex"

January 6, 2022

5.0

Pros

Login and logout were pretty simple to use and I had no issues.

Cons

There were a few times on Paychex that the clock-in/out would not work for me and I would have to do it digitality. Also, there was this one time where someone else got into my account and caused some time tracking issues, so it is not secure from other employees.

Pros

Easy to set up and to have users set up. The different ways to customize it like setting when you started, your birthday, your goals...is a nice added feature. Simple lay out and easy to navigate and understand.

### "Easy to use, great customer service"

February 10, 2023

5.0

Due to issues when our account was created we had a huge mess to clean up at the end of the year. It was due to errors within our organization but Paychex went out of their way to ensure that everything was in order in a reasonable amount of time. I would never choose to repeat that scenario, but it did prove that they have exceptional customer service.

Pros

Ease of use. I started using the system without any prior knowledge and had no trouble finding my way around. Running payroll is simple and can easily be customized to how you prefer to enter.

Cons

If Paychex is also logged in, changes you make will not be saved. This does not happen often, but when it does it is useless.
