Pros Paychex FLEX is easy to navigate, fast at loading reports and pages, and gives you access to what you need. As an accountant it is vital for me to be able to have access to the reports and items I need to get accounting and taxes done without having to jump through hoops to get that information. Many payroll firms make this task frustrating and time consuming. With Paychex FLEX I have one log in for all of my clients and can easily navigate to the company and reports that I need every month or at year-end within a few minutes (including the login process). Cons One thing I don't like is that the default view for reports is set to the last 90 days. Many times, especially dealing with tax forms, I need reports that were created more than 90 days ago. Also, since the newest reports go to the top of the list you already have the most recent reports at the top. Why not default to the past year and then just let me filter down to a smaller group of reports if that's what I want? Other than that small gripe, they have done a lot to improve their FLEX format. When it was first released everyone hated it but it has finally been improved to the point that it is extremely usable. The problem is that it seems like every time they get things just right they move to a new platform and "upgrade" their systems. I understand that this might be a necessary evil but it sure does cause a lot of growing pains for the end-user. Review Source AK Amy K. Pros Software was reasonably easy to use but lacked in being able to be customized. Cons Customization wasn't what we needed for reporting purposes and our accounting entries that needed to be made in Deltek. July 6, 2018 5.0 Everything you need is in the system and best of all accurate. Pros This software is so easy to use. It gives you tutorials if you get stumped on how to do something. It also has the capability to put all your reports in one place so when you need to run a report, it is all there waiting to be downloaded. Cons The only thing I really do not like with the system is that you have to go thru so many prompts to log in and then you have to have a specific code sent to your phone in order to get into the system. We've been able to quickly and easily set up payroll and benefits, and their customer service team has always been incredibly helpful and responsive. Pros Gusto has been an absolute lifesaver for our business. Their user-friendly platform makes payroll and benefits setup a breeze, and the customer service team is always ready to help with any questions or issues. Cons The only downside I've noticed is that it can be a bit slow to calculate taxes, but that might just be due to the complexity of all the laws and regulations. Owner Printing Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Good product, easy to use" December 31, 2021 5.0 Pros We've used several different payroll processors and this was the easiest one when it came to entering our employees hour each week. I'm surprised how difficult and convulted other companies make it, but Paychecx stood out for the ease. And that matters when you have 20+ employees to enter each week. You want it to go quick, and Paychex did. Cons We weren't crazy about getting paper checks. We had been used to Next Day Air delivery from a past company and Paychex paper checks were a courier and came at inconsistent times. May not seem like a big deal, but employees want their checks early to deposit at lunch and if they arrive late employees get antsy. We had people tell us they would stop working until their check was in hand. Luckily it wasn't a huge issue, as most people chose direct deposit. Switched from [RUN Powered by ADP](https://www.capterra.com/p/185859/RUN/) ADP was wanting us to put up a retainer for direct deposits, which we couldn't afford to do at the time. I do appreciate them trying to integrate that and payroll, but it could be much more effective if they made it mobile friendly and less clunky. Pros PaychexFlex integrates its paystubs, W-2, etc... in with a clock-in and clock-out system which is something I haven't had at jobs before. It's nice to have one place for all, and you can easily download PDF's of your documents. There's also a little timeline chart that displays when your last paydays were and you can click to view how much you got paid for how many hours etc... Cons Paychex Flex is trying to be a clock-in/out system while not working on any mobile devices and that is ridiculous. I've used Square and homebase before and they both made sense as most all retail and service jobs work off of iPads and so clocking in and out on those devices makes sense. Instead, it only works on computers. This is also ridiculous because it's not a security measure to make sure you don't clock in at home, as you can clock in from any computer. In a world where our mobile devices are used for everything, we should be able to use them to go on our payroll system too. Furthermore, they have an unnecessary 'security' system that conflicts with the fact that you can only use it on a computer. When you sign in on an 'unrecognized device' eg. your workplace's one computer, it texts you a code. So, you ultimately do have to pull your phone out to use Paychex. Ironic. They do have a mobile app for viewing documents, but it is laggy, nonresponsive, and hard to navigate. Review Source RR Rajbir R. Additional benefits include accessing a dashboard with all employee information to be edited or submitted at once. More benefits of utilizing Paychex Flex include developing quick reports such as payroll statistics. Paychex Flex is a good tool to administer payroll for your company. Pros Paychex Flex is an online software that human resources personnel can utilize for payroll. Paychex Flex has various subscriptions that company's can select depending on the types of features. Paychex Flex offers an employee dashboard that requires an username, password, and pin number. Paychex Flex allows users to disburse amounts of funds to contractors, employees, vendors, and sponsors. Paychex Flex offers tools, tutorials, and customer support related to the online library and overall application. Cons Paychex Flex requires a new verification code upon logging into the dashboard. Users listed in the Paychex Flex may not be deleted depending on administrative rights to complete such an action. Paychex Flex may provide usernames and passwords to administrators and not employees, thus employees may not be able to update time card electronically. Paychex Flex allows time card adjustments to be made by the administrator. Paychex Flex allows payroll adjustments to be made by the administrator. Review Source MP Marco P. They have relieved me of that pressure. They do the onboarding of new employees including sending the info to state agencies. Their system allows me to go in and adjust pay rates and employee info. Pros I like that I can adjust the payroll entry page to only have what is necessary to us on it. That can be adjusted with every payroll if needed. The Help files are thorough and it is easy to learn. They compute the taxes from each payroll and allow us an extra day before we have to transfer the money. Cons There are a few glitches in the system. Nothing that has to do with the actual payroll system. Managing employees and all the payroll is pretty simple. There are other companies I've worked with in the past but Paycheck Flex is my favorite. It's very user friendly. Pros The app features everything you would need in a payroll app. It's easy for everyone to clock in and manage time, see payroll and more. I also loved I could easily track employees attendance and direct deposits either on the app or on the web version. Pros My company deployed this application about 5 years ago and it is very easy to use. You can pull W2's and any tax or paycheck related information needed in a click of a button. Most things can be seen on the application which is nice and makes it even easier for employees. Cons Logging in can sometimes be annoying if you forgotten or need to change a password. It has some nice features for checking how many hours have been working if you are actually clocking in and out from the site itself. Once you actually figure things out and have your account set up, it's conveniently all right there in front of you to see what your sick time is, clock in/out, etc. It keeps all your info from your previous jobs that have used the site PLUS holds your tax info conveniently for you, which is quite handy. Cons It's pretty difficult to navigate. A lot of the site doesn't really explain where to go or what to do so you kind of just have to poke around it until you figure things out. I guess it's kind of typical for sites like this. It's also kind of nightmare to get your log in info if you lose it, so just don't. You get locked out after 3 tries and then have to call the help desk and it turns into a pretty complicated ordeal. Conveniently though, the site log in remembers your info though. There is a LOT of maintenance, constantly and when you get messages in your inbox, they never seem to go away, but that's just nit-picky stuff that's not really important. It's outdated, hard to use and our company wants our employees to have seamless experiences, and its just not great. The 401k piece lacks integration for ease of use and employees are never termed when asked. Poor reporting features and stuck in the 90s Pros It houses everything you need in one system. It is an HRIS so that is always helpful to have as an organization. Cons Just about everything else. I never had any issues with this. Cons I was not a fan of us having issues every other to every third hire. Someone almost always had their first paycheck not come in when it was supposed to. It always put you as an employee in a bad position, because you were expecting to be paid when you were told you would be paid. And not getting that first paycheck is kinda a big deal. I assume its the first as our subsequent systems have all hard PTO and time tracking integrated. Pros This software is a poor mans ADP. It was most useful as a time clock for our deployment Cons Software struggled with punches, PTO and reporting. Their customer service used to be good and is still decent compared to ADP. Their system can be fully customized for reports and coding purposes. Their reporting is much better than ADP Cons Their support has gone down hill in the last year in addition to their pricing is about 20% higher than ADP on most items. You could set up schedules and with the linking of the fingerprint clock it worked perfectly.
