April 5, 2019 3.0 There aren't many options for payroll and this gets the job done. My staff have limited complaints once they spend a few weeks using the system. While I have not used anything significantly better, it still feels like there is much room for improvement. Pros The fact that there is a functional app is probably the nicest feature. Since I am often not at my desk, being able to check on staffing and payroll issues on the go is very nice. All of the features I use on a regular basis can be accessed from both my desktop and phone. Cons I recognize there is a lot of information in the system, but it still feels like I have to dig through too many layers to get to the information I need on a regular basis. Seldom is one click enough to get the answers I am after. The user interface is also not very intuitive, with features grouped in ways that do not make sense to me. I haven't had any issues with the software, paycheck discrepancies, or PTO accrual issues. Pros Easy to use to clock in/out for the day. Paychex cost was another driving factor for the switch. Can it do what is says - sometimes. When it can't perform, there's a definite manual pain in the neck. Pros Reporting and customizeable coding was positive. Also, the tracking functions - most of the time. There is a 2-factor authentication function that is great for some people. Employees who have been through many time tracking software changes tend to not enjoy that feature. Cons If the site is down it causes a huge disruption in employees clocking in or out. This has to be manually tracked and corrected later, usually on the manager or supervisor's end of things. Causes a lag for management to have to go in and adjust. Plus, it gives employees little confidence that they should use the software to the best of its functionality. Support is practically non-existent. Cons The app gave me issues sometimes and wasn’t really as functional as the website. It allows for the flexibility to do that and direct deposit. Pros Easy to use. Decent applications for both the browser and mobile devices. Easy approval on managers end for employee time off and clock corrections. Cons Application on mobile sometimes freezes, clocking multiple of the same "in" clocking for an employee. This software gives employees many options. They can track their hours and see what time they clocked in that day before they clock out with a total number of hours worked that day. They can download their own paystubs if needed. Its a very user friendly program. The software is very secure. If you use another computer to login to your account it will make you go thru security codes before logging you in. Cons At first it was getting use to when we switched over to Paychex Flex. Pros Paychex is affordable if using the basic features of operating payroll. The web features are simple and requires a two step log-in verification process for extra security. Cons Paychex caters to small business and may assigned you a local expert as your point-of-contact. Not all times this person may be available when needed. In addition, Paychex wants to ensure the product is used correctly... However, this may require needing permission to make changes to your payroll features such as changing dates, company info, and etc. Some people may enjoy the benefits of having extra security when logging in, but after a while it can delay things having to keep verifying yourself and your computer just because a change in IP on the network happens. Paychex also charge a premium on next-day processing for payroll. It was a difficult transition and once we got there the support was disappointing. Pros I was online, obviously easier than paper. It generally worked OK. It provided needed data for our employees. Cons I had several idiosyncrasies and wasn't as easy to use, at least for us, as Paycom. Most disappointing was the support. The personnel weren't easy to get in touch with and often not as knowledgeable as we would like. It was very difficult to get several items resolved, especially in any kind of a timely fashion. Pros The hiring/onboarding piece is amazing. They set us up in less than 3 days and had us doing our first payroll within a week. They sat with us through the whole payroll process from start to finish to make sure we understood it all. The Time and attendance piece is awesome and works so well for our staff Cons There is nothing we don't like about Paychex. It has met our expectations and continues to do so daily. Pros I work in public accounting and It did what we needed it to do. We used it just to log our hours. We did not use it to log billable bourse. I wish we did in fact see what all the capabilities it had to offer! Cons The asthetics I personally did not like. It just seemed to be crude. July 27, 2022 5.0 Pros Easy to use and direct deposit staff paycheck directly into their desired account. Cons Some of my colleagues, myself included, have experienced "lag times" in payroll. I'm not sure if this is our employers issue or a Paychex issue. If payroll lands on a weekend or holiday, we don't get it until the next "open business day." For example, payroll hits on the 1st and 15th for my company. This July 1 was a Friday but because it was a holiday weekend, the money wasn't deposited until the 5th. I find this problematic that people aren't paid on time - especially when bills are due. March 4, 2021 5.0 Overall, I love using this software. It has been great and I recommend it to anyone looking to switch. Pros As a user of this software, it is wonderful. In my previous roles, I would always have to keep old pay stubs and inevitably lost them when I needed them (such as when applying for a mortgage, etc). Paychex Flex allows you to see all of your paychecks in one place, see deductions, tax documents, as well as other information like your employment anniversary. The app is wonderful as well. It's always nice to get a push notification to my phone reminding me it's payday! Cons There really isn't anything that I would change. I use their mobile app to see my paychecks when they come in, as well as monitor my 401k performance and adjust my contributions. And at the end of the year, they provide me all of my W2 information for tax filing. Pros The Paychex interface is easy to use and really self explanatory. For something as complex as payroll, it could be easy to make things more complicated than they need to be. But as an end user, Paychex is great because it gives me all the information I need in a condensed & understandable format. Cons As an employee, I have yet to find anything to dislike about Paychex.
