HR MGR Telecommunications Used the software for: 2+ years ### "We were better off using Excel Spreadsheets" June 28, 2018 2.0 Our team wastes so much time documenting every detail of payroll in Excel still. We shouldn't have to do this, but there are so many errors, we are constantly correcting PTO time, or notifying them that other errors occurred. Employees not being paid and us not getting notified for 2 weeks, until employee told us. Basically just a huge effort to do anything. The worst part though is the customer service we received from the team. They would pawn us off on others, tell us to do everything ourselves. We were asking them for help most times because we didn't know how to fix. Jeez. Wish we could change, but after months of research it seems like all systems offer pitfalls that are equally bad. So, we'll fight the good fight. i'm hoping that our new rep will really make things better. Pros We do our 401k Admin through Paychex, and our rep has been great. No complaints on 401k side. We were able to get 1 customer service rep that was helpful. Our employees get paid (usually) Cons Customer service is lacking. It's an easy way to report hours, keep track of payments, and access key tax documents. Cons Paychex Flex can be customized according to an organization or company's needs. Not all companies use the Paychex Flex retirement services to track 401k and other benefits, but some do. I found that aspect the most difficult to understand as a user. Not a lifechanging app, but the right word for this is robust. It simply works, and for those that companies that want to use the app i highly recommend to call Paycheck and get all the facts and all questions to be answered before making the move and this is a massive move for anyone that is wanting to get into a payroll app as an employee, it just works :D Pros Super simple to use, can be accessed anywhere, as long as there is access to the internet as an employee. We can keep track of all payments and see the reports, and able to save them with easy. this app helps the employee to not have to dig through the emails but instead, all is reported in the one place. saves the time to keep track of the payments and the time and data where they were made. Cons Needs a lot of work for the phone apps. There are errors, random (i may add) that happen from time to time which is very annoying when using the phone app. It needs a lot of work from their development team. So be aware, if someone is not patient, and the company is using Paycheck, then log in to the web application. Review Source JS Jen S. Pros The tax compliance is great. In a state where there are local taxes and in the ever-changing world of taxes, Paychex does a great job. Cons We are not able to generate our certified payroll reports because no one in Paychex knew how to set it up. Cons I don't like that the program isn't always easy to use and talking to customer service can be a little tricky sometimes. Everything always eventually gets adjusted how you would like though. It's been easy to understand and easy to use. Pros Punching in and out of the clock every day has been really easy with paychex. It tells me exactly what time I'm punching and what time I'm punching in a nice big font. Cons Everytime I login it makes enter a code from my phone. I find that wastes time when I'm trying to punch in quickly. It would be better if it could send a link to my phone to click rather than punching in a code. Review Source CS Cameron S. I had to constantly monitor the payroll reports to make sure they were accurate, then report the errors, explain to employees why their paychecks weren't correct, then make adjustments to my books to fix the reporting errors. Pros I appreciated that I had a dedicated payroll support representative Cons When submitting payroll, while I would provide very specific payroll info, their agents would hand key this info into their systems which resulted in mistakes that had to be corrected on every payroll. Pros Easy to use and great customer service. Once Paychex showed me how it worked and how to use it, i only had a few questions the next couple times. Cons The dashboard could be a bit more flexible, but it's pretty good the way it is. Doing payroll the second time was a bit confusing, but it was a breeze once the customer service folks helped me. Reason for choosing Paychex Flex Paychex is a long established, successful company. Time clock, HR reviews, access to your hours for the week, sick time available and requests off. Its nice to have them all available to use. My advice is when you find someone good, ask for their direct email or phone so you can have a back door to get problems resolved. Pros time tracking is seamless for payroll purposes strong control over IP addresses for mobile app is awesome remote offices link and easy to control the whole team zero % errors with timesheets since we switched from a manual system Cons can't get good reports that are standardly used in business apps- like Paid Time Off balances based on anniversary PTO balances are not live, they only update after a payroll run, so its confusing for staff notes section in the People tab for Time Off adjustments; no way to get a report on those changes, even though there is a huge Notes: section to use. 401K portal for enrolees is fine, for admin it is lame, no automated notices go to eligible staff. It is very easy to use. Nothing is hidden. Easily find what you are looking for using the tabs on the side Cons It is easy to use as an employee and the ability to log in and out is very simple. June 14, 2018 5.0 Regulatory reporting Payroll, without hiccups or errors. Great and knowledgable support team when you need them, and with payroll, things are urgent if you do, so they go out of their way to solve any problems. Pros Has all the functionality that you could need for payroll in the US. All states are covered, most regulatory reported is automated and customer support people always know what they're doing and willing to help out. Cons The new user interface was a little clunky/buggy at first but they seem to have ironed out the problems. Don't like that the customer support is only until 5pm Eastern time (2pm Pacific time).
