### "A simple HR system for employees"

I overall enjoy the system vs ADP.

Pros

Paychex Flex is easy to use. You login, authenticate, you get all pertinent info as an employee, including login/logout function depending on your role. I see my retirement funds, health plans, PTO, paystubs, and W2s.

Cons

The retirement funds UI is lacking. It takes more time than necessary to see monthly/quarterly performance, calculate my own contributions, etc etc.

### "Okay when it works"

Paychex Flex is perfectly average. It works okay, but there's nothing special or nice about it. Every feature is a bit annoying and could have been implemented better. But whatever, at least it works, right? We it did until they had a bug and it has been over a month of them "looking into it." In the meantime payroll doesn't work and we cannot get receipts or paystubs from the system. It is not legal for us to use this software because we're obviously required to supply pay stubs to our employees. If this company can't fix the most basic functionality of their system for over a month, why do they even exist?

Pros

It has all the basic payroll and employee time tracking and time off functionality we need.

Cons

It stopped working and at the time of this writing has been broken for over a month while they investigate the bug. We are actively working on a replacement because they left us high and dry.

We were able to process payroll for a growing company in a semi-automated fashion.

Pros

It does its job for a decent price. I am convinced a lot happens in the backend, as there were times where our initial filings were not submitted to states in time, but overall, our employees got paid on time.

Cons

We switched to a PEO once we outgew the product, and overnight, our relationship with them went from 100 to 0. Employees were barred from past pay stubs, and our reporting was deleted. Getting ahold of customer service became a nightmare, and the overall experience left me not wanting to us them ever again.

### "A necessary tool for many startups"

Paychex flex was easily implemented in our company, allowing employees to set up direct deposit and schedule PTO days quite easily, however finding the specific login portal and information was often hard, with very little ways to recover the info. Also, the user interface was over simplified to the point where it lacked some critical data.

Pros

Paychex flex is easy to use and set up direct deposit and manage your benefits. Able to set up and request PTO time, see how much remains, and arrange other benefits such as 401k.

Cons

There are many layers of authentication that can hinder and slow down the process on mobile. Definitely more geared for a computer application. Also, finding the application itself is very hard. The main website will not give good instructions how to find a company portal. Once you have your company portal URL, you have to remember several specific credentials.

Paychex is so easy to use. Their website when you log into your account is so easy to navigate. As a user it makes it so easy to have my paystubs, insurance, and 401 k all in one place. The app makes it easy to access it easy from my phone at any time in any place.

Cons

There is nothing I dislike about their software.

Pros

Paychex Flex is to use. It is convenient because time can be entered from any device with internet access. There is even an app so that employees can enter time on the go.

Cons

The interface for identifying which account to charge is not intuitive. I created a video for my staff to make the process easier for them.

I like that I am able to see hours worked in different aspects, whether it is regular hours, holiday hours, medical appointment or vacation time.

Cons

I do not like that sometimes it tells me I am missing a clock out when I clearly have one in. Sometimes it just errors out.

As much as I would like to write something positive about this product, it really is hard too. The only positives are the people that are assigned to the account. I like who I work with. The product is another story. We have timekeeping associated with Paychex Flex and we have an issue with an employee every single day. Often times they cannot get in to clock in, lunch out, lunch in or clock out. Sometimes it's all time punches, sometimes it's one. There are times when the system just won't let you in period. Calling in for assistance, of late, the wait is about 5 minutes, but have been on hold for over 30 minutes. The reports, that's another story, the way it's sorted, it's sometimes hard to figure out where to go to get a report. The one thing that drives me nuts, is creating a report. I don't think you can do an ad hoc report.

You name a problem and I've probably had it with this system. I've had out IT and Paychex IT on the phone, we made the fixes they suggested and the issues reoccurred.

There is nothing that I dislike. It is very easy to use from anywhere.

I have experience with their customer service and that was paramount for us, as well as the cost savings for what you get.

I like being able to see all my important documents in one place. I also can see my benefits and other things quickly.

Cons

The clocking in and out portion of this software is super buggy. It causes a lot of pain for me and my coworkers, to correct it when it messes up.

This was definitely a transition for staff but well worth it. All of the information available is awesome and it is very easy to use. Highly recommended.

Pros

This software is great. It is easy to clock in and out as well as find all of your necessary information including W-2 and salary information. Requesting vacation time as well and checking sick and vacation balances is all there at a click of a button. You can set up your area so even if staff if clocking in or out on their mobile phone, you know they were still actually at work.

Cons

We had some issues in the beginning with staff not being able to clock in and out but once you get all of the kinks worked out its great.

Pros

I’m glad that my company chose Paychex Flex to manage time stamps, pay roll, vacation/sick hours, and retirement benefits. Everything is right there in front of you with the click of a button. There’s no hardcore navigating to get to where you need, everything is labeled and easy to find.

Cons

I have no complaints about this software so far. I’ve been using this service since 2019 and it’s been super easy for me.

A lot of features are available for users to make changes and export documents and info, which reduces the number of requests to the administrator.

Cons

For non-salary workers, it would be nice to see total hours clocked in for the week or month on the home page with the time clock. As of now, the only data listed is 'Today's Total' and 'Shift Total.'

The flexibility that comes with being able to support our employees with real-time, comprehensive pay info is unmatched.

Pros

Our organization welcomes a number of seasonal international staff on J-1 visas. Paychex Flex makes it much easier to consolidate all of their pay-related information into one easy to access place.

Cons

There are few cons to using this software for us as an organization. Occasionally, the acquisition of social security numbers can take a while for those international staff, but Paychex Flex is always very patient with the timing.

We use it for payroll software and I'm kind of underwhelmed as a user. Probably wouldn't recommend using it in the future. Low functionality and low reliability.

Pros

Pretty simple to use, but that's the problem, it's too simple. Lightweight software loads fast and lets you download PDFs of your stub after payment.

Cons

Often, the PDF won't show up even after you're paid. There's a delay and you can't see your paystub. It's not integrated into any other benefits so you can't modify 401k contributions or anything like that. I wish you could see your paystub as soon as it was submitted, which is what other HR software lets you do.

Overall this software definitely provided more capability than our old payroll processor, which is a win for us.

Pros

When we chose to implement this software we were looking for something that had more robust reporting and management of employees. This software definitely checks those boxes.

Cons

I find that sometimes Flex is not very intuitive to navigate, however, I only have to use this every couple weeks so I find it to be okay.

A few challenges in the beginning but in the end was good

Pros

For a new business, It helps keep the things we do not know about in order and correct. After finding a few bad apples we finally have a great rep if I need help

Cons

Higher charges if missed day restrictions because we are hourly and in the end I also fly for a living so cannot always be on time
