And they will lock your account and will not provide records for you until it’s paid. Stay away from Paychex. Pros The platform was designed great, they software is able to walk your through step by step without having much experience or knowledge. Cons The system is hard to manage to obtain reports and record or duplicate pay stubs or W2s. The platform is difficult to recover duplicate documents for employees. However, I did take a sick day once and I was not paid for it. I am not sure if that was a manager or system failure. Pros I like that i can see the hours i am working in real time. so that I can directly see what i am going to be paid for that week. Cons i don't like how you cannot sign in or check in from your phone, you have to either log in on computer or physical box in spa. I think they may be better for larger companies? Pros Their website is user friendly and it's nice to have access to reports when you need them. The first person I worked with was great, everything went downhill from there. Cons They had difficulty charging the agreed weekly price, couldn't figure out pay-as-you-go comp insurance (despite telling me repeatedly that it was set up correctly); contact person kept changing, they had difficulty keeping our two companies straight. Pros Paychex Flex has a user friendly interface and abilities to track and adjust payroll in real time. It is also easy to access benefits. Cons Mobile version is clunky. They over charge for everything. When you try to dispute items they have already charged your bank account, and it's too late. Pros What did I like most about Paychex Flex. I have no Pro's for this company at all. I would never recommend them to any company. Cons They are way Over priced and Over Complicated. I enjoy doing things the old school way, and if not assigned a good person, the process of weekly payroll can be painful. Pros Good value for money. Easy to use process for employees to login and view their paystubs, good tax processing program. Cons I like having a dedicated support person from my payroll, and this assigned person switches frequently and sometimes are unresponsive. There are so many better options out there and I would gladly tell anyone looking to go with Paychex to look in absolutely any other direction. I try to find redeeming qualities, but I just can't with this system. The system is cumbersome and dated, the customer service is a nightmare and it is impossible to keep track of all of the different points of contact they give you, they don't even know who does what within the organization, and you will work harder to just manage the relationship than you will to manage your people. Pros I can't think of a thing I liked or would recommend about Paychex Flex. Cons Everything really. If I were to pick one thing, I would say that the disparate systems within systems is very convoluted and causes significant issues with reporting and maintenance of employee records. Every piece of the system (time and attendance, benefit admin, etc.) comes with a different "bolt-on" platform and service team. This caused immense issues and pain points throughout the entire employee life cycle. We are still unwinding all of the issues caused by our partnership with Paychex and left the platform four months ago. They are also terrible at ensuring timely and appropriate tax filings on our behalf. Switched from [ADP Workforce Now](https://www.capterra.com/p/155895/WorkforceNow/) My predecessors made the decision to switch from ADP to Paychex. " April 29, 2025 5.0 I am a store manager, and weekly, I go through and verify hours clocked, for my employees. Also, if there are any issues with W2’s, we can pull those up as well. Pros Being able to view my employees and my paystubs & hours clocked. Also, at the end of the year, you can view your W2’s. Cons I’ve had issues with having to reload the app over and over again. The system isn't totally user friendly, you need training to use it. They made promises that they have not kept yet. Still working on it. Pros I like the app that the employees use to log in their time. Clock in/clock out and that is shows me the location when they punch in/out. Cons I am unable to pull a report showing the punch times and locations. Their report shows coordinates of their location, totally useless. I've always like using it for various different employers. Pros I like the convenience of how everything you need is right on the website/app. You can view your W-2's and all hours, PTO, etc. Cons I feel like it could be updated a little more. Sometimes you're navigating through the website or app and it feels like it's super dated and not always user friendly. Pros paycheck flex was very easy to use with my prior employer never had any issues, and if I did have any questions customer support was very friendly and responded very quickly. Cons nothing really, paychex flex was very easy to use and only downfall would be the employer at the time. The app is convenient and easy to use, payroll runs smoothly, and the self-service features save a lot of time for both employees and managers. While there are a few drawbacks with reporting and occasional support issues, the platform overall makes payroll and HR tasks much more manageable. Pros Paychex Flex is an easy-to-use payroll system. Th mobile app is super easy to use once you get it set up. Really makes managing pay stubs, W-2s, and PTO simple. It has several self-service tools for employees, automatic payroll tax compliance, and several other features. Cons The downsides of Paychex Flex are that some features cost extra, the reports can be a little tricky to figure out, and customer support isn’t always consistent. The workflow is logical & easy to use. Pros This software has streamlined the payroll and HR systems for us. With scheduling, new hires, terminations, LOAs, wage increases, promotions, timecards & reports, the work is streamlined, easy to use & works in a logical manner. I pleased that the software makes the employee responsible to ensure their information & hours are correct. Our new system is very good. Pros It’s popular and used across multiple platforms which made it easy to integrate with as the options were available. Cons Most everything else. The hidden fees, the lack of customer support. It is as a suggestion from a lender we use but it’s not very user friendly in my opinion.
