Purchased the software because the salesman said we could easily integrate with our handheld and would do tax reporting. NEITHER were true. Integration was a disaster and tax reporting- I have to pull report after report to get the information I need. Installers literally left me hanging the week our first tax return was due and their response was "you can always file and amend your return." Well amending a return in Illinois is a process in itself. Pros Not much, I could have stayed with Quickbooks, manipulated reports and saved tens of thousands of dollars, Cons Support is difficult to get a hold of, you buy the software then spend a fortune "customizing" it yet even after spending thousand of dollars you can't get the information you need! Pros PDI software allows complete control over business assets; our company runs on it from the site level to corporate. Data mining, sales projections, PNL reports are all accessible and exportable in excel format to allow data manipulation down the road. Cons Although there is a GREAT deal of functionality, it takes a system expert to be able to fully utilize the software and at times it feels like PDI can do anything, but when told "it can do that" the developers even have to figure out how to create functionality. Pros I like how easy this software is to use. It makes doing the store paperwork 100 times easier. It also helps with inventory and ordering. Cons I found when using a Ruby Sapphire setup you can run in to various polling problems. When we switched to Ruby with Commander setup the polling issues seamed to go away.
