### "Stata - a very complete statistical software"

December 5, 2019

4.0

Stata main downside is that it works with only one data frame in its memory and is a paid software, having less material online than other free competitors.

Pros

Stata is very complete for the ones looking for general statistical analysis or econometrics. It has a large number o packages that integrate with most of the types of data and can produce very powerful statistical calculation.

Cons

Stata main downside is that it works with only one data frame in its memory and is a paid software, having less material online than other free competitors.

### "Helps to handle data from initial stage to final analysis stage."

November 13, 2022

5.0

Pros

The ability of the tool to handle a large volume of data without any challenge makes me like the tool most. The tool also can act as a stand alone as far as data preparation, analysis, visualization is concerned. With Stata you don't need any other tool to get the work done.

Cons

Sometime you need statistical knowledge to get tangible results.

### "Stata is a good choice for novice data analysts. "

October 30, 2019

5.0

Since I started using Stata in 2018, It has been very using for analyzing data for my quantitative research papers. I have conducted the statistical analysis and hypothesis testing of at least 10 research papers.

Pros

The most I like about Stata is that I don't have to code in long lines as I used to do in other statistical softwares. It has interactive menu and you can select a statistical test from the interactive menu. It is also very quick: for example, if you want to plot predicted probabilities, you can just do it in a couple of seconds in Stata. Stata can also easily handle large data.

Cons

I have been using Stata for around 2 years, but have not encountered a major problem while using it. One slight issue I have faced is plotting marginal effects in one graph. perhaps, they could give us an instruction to plot marginal effects in a graph.

### "Statistically Speaking STATA is a Great Piece of Software!"

June 16, 2019

5.0

Pros

STATA was a great program to use in my Political Science classes. We learned the program in a class and it was a huge help for the remainder of my time at University. STATA was great for plotting out demographics and helping to build a hypothesis for many research assignments done in my years at the University I attended. Some of the things that we learned to do with STATA was finding the 95% confidence interval and the r-value.

Cons

STATA wasn't the easiest software to pick up quickly, but it is possible. I think that the UI for STATA could be improved on. I found it difficult to convert and import certain files into data files into STATA. There were many times where you had to change some of the data formatting and then import it into STATA for it to work properly.

### "Learning curve and very particular, but par for the course"

August 21, 2018

5.0

Pros

STATA is undoubtedly hard to learn initially, especially for non-statisticians. I hold a nutrition degree and began using it for epidemiology data, and it took a while for me to really get a hang of it. Now that I do, it's an invaluable resource for any and all things data.

Cons

One rogue character can jam your code, and it can be hard to figure out what the problem is. That's where, really, only experience can dig you out.

### "Useful and Easy Statistical Analysis for non programmers "

February 15, 2019

4.0

Overall it is easy to use and great for basic statistical analysis

Pros

Stata is very simple to use for statistical analysis. There is a short learning curve, but it can be mastered quite quickly and be used ot produce powerful and elegant analyses. Simple things, like data manipulation, data visualization, and regression is easy to do! Great for people doing epidemiological or economic analyzes and quick to use.

Cons

It can be quite pricey for a one year license, the perpetual license, is a better deal. While it is useful for data visualization, it is not the most flexible at producing nice charts for a journal (nothing beats R in this regard). It also does not have a robust suite of bioinformatic tools, which limits its utility for some scientific fields.

### "Stata review"

June 23, 2021

4.0

Overall I am planning to switch from Stata to Python, as Stat is very slow compared to Python. Also there are some regressions that are not available in Stata, but are available in Python packages. Last but not least if you have a really large data(like 100000 liens of data) it will take Stata almost 30 minutes to perform a single action while python will do the same action in less than a minute.

Pros

If you are new to programming in R or Python(like me) Stata is a solid choice as you can always run a regressions using only mouse and not actually typing a code. Also it allows you to run almost all types of basic regressions.

Cons

Stata is very expensive. If your company does not have it I would not recommend you top buy it for using your personal resources. Also Eviews is much easier to use compared to Stata, so if you are not good at R or Python you can do the same job using Eviews. Last but not least other data analytics softwares are free to use and they give you even more functionality compared to Stata.

### "Click and drag possible for most analyses."

June 13, 2019

5.0

Pros

Unlike other competitors, STATA is used by many economists and economic researchers. It allows click-and-drag for most complicated statistical analysis (such as Multilevel models, Bayesian), easier than other competing products.

Cons

Since it is click-and-drag, some features are not as flexible as other competitors. Yet, I think this is a great product covering most popular statistical techniques.

### "Stata Review"

January 4, 2021

5.0

I have been using stata for data management and data analysis for more than three years. I get all the information I need from raw data through the use of stata. Stata has made me serve the company's client with alot of ease and all the results have been appreciated by the company's clients.

Pros

I did not understand why my boss insisted on the use of Stata in his company until I started using it myself. Stata has been my best software for data management and analysis. Doing my work on do-file make it very easy to save my codes for future reference and use. Stata codes are short and easy to remember making my work easy.

Cons

One thing I dislike about stata is the way it outputs graphs and charts. Most of the graphs are not appealing to the eye.

### "Stata is very good - but not the best"

June 3, 2021

5.0

Stata is excellent for analyzing data and preparing for publication.

Pros

Stata is an excellent statistics software for analyzing a multitude of types of data. Allows for a variety of analyses.

Cons

While Stata does do a good job of being accessible at times, it is not the best statistics software available right now. There are others that are more intuitive and deep.

### "One of the best tools for statistical analysis "

August 13, 2018

5.0

Stata has made my work with statistics so much easy and fun, I could be more satisfied with it.

Pros

To be honest there's plenty of things that I really like about Stata, it has all the tools and statistical methods to work with your data and get the results you want without the help of any other tool or software.

Cons

There isn't many things I like the least but if I have to mention one it has to be the user interface that for me can improve a bit in order to be more user friendly and easy to use.

### "The best statistical analysis software for quantitative sociologists"

June 4, 2018

5.0

There is no better software for statistically analyzing large quantitative data sets. Perfect for a professional social scientist.

Pros

While I first learned to do statistical analyses in SPSS, STATA has far more versatility and advanced functionality. It can do basically anything a professional quantitative social scientist such as myself could need, and I am always discovering new features.

Cons

You have to learn the command codes to get started, which is basically like learning a programming language. I wish STATA had a better autofill system like R Studio.

its good for intermediate level analysis but advance analysis required a lot of advance tool to be established in stata.

Pros

Stata is good for regression and correlation analysis. We can analysis by and multi variable with random and fixed effect method.can detuct homoscedasticity and hetroscedasticity easily for deeply analysis.

Cons

Its complicated due to command process. a minor typing error may leads towards biased result. secondly its multicollionearity not deduct auto.

### "Good for economics research but recently lagging behind"

February 22, 2020

4.0

STATA was my first software I used to analyze data with Economics research so I have always used it as a default. However, as I have begun learning R, I have realized that R runs faster and works better with large datasets. Don't get me wrong, STATA is not bad, but I do think it has been lagging behind over time.

Pros

\- Standard software that allows you to run statistical functions and data manipulations for research purposes - Reliable and easy to learn

Cons

\- Does not work well with large data sets and often crashes - Expensive - Over time, it has not gone through many upgrades so the user interface looks old compared to its counterparts. The functionalities have also not gotten a lot of upgrades compared to competitors like R

### "Must-have for Econometricians."

October 10, 2018

4.0

I learn STATA through one of my econometric classes in PhD. The software is fun and you can get what you need for in short time.

Pros

It is very easy to use. You can learn it for a very short time with little learning cost for most of the basic regression models. For some other more complicated models, it may takes some time, but it is still very user-friendly. It also has a big community support in which you can ask and discuss problems. The academic journal regarding the use of stata is regularly updated.

Cons

It can be quite costly to purchase STATA for personal use. It is very useful for academic researches, but may not so much for industrial needs. Some of the advanced methodology, such as block bootstrap, which I need to use, are not available. You need to code them yourself

### "Good software for data analysis with great community support"

February 10, 2022

4.0

Pros

In my field, Stata is like the common language so it's pretty much a fixed choice. The best thing about Stata is its user communities: I was almost always able to find answers to all of my econometrics questions on Statalist.

Cons

Stata is not the best for data preparation and data cleaning. I have a multi-core version and yet sometimes it still struggles with large datasets. It might just be my personal preferences, but I also don't use Stata that much for data visualization, for which I think there are better tools.

### "stata for data management and statistical analysis"

June 2, 2018

5.0

It streamlines data arrangement - I can do things more efficiently in STATA than other tools.

Pros

Advanced features that enable statistical analyses (e.d. event history analysis, hierarchical models, structural equations, fixed effects, random effects). The online documentation is fantastic! With a little digging, i can always find my answer.

Cons

The data visualization tools are mediocre. I often export data and create visualizations in excel or other tool.

### "Econometrics Techniques For Business analysis"

June 20, 2020

5.0

As a Econometrics students i will suggest everyone to work on it.Its very impressive and result oriented.Regression and P-value will always show the exact relationship between dependent and independent variables.

Pros

Stata is result oriented software for students and professionals. Its very impressive for Regression analysis,Multi-Collinearity and heteroscedasticity analysis. Secondly its Time saver, Data can be put manually or export from MS Excel.Third one is visual and graphics,Its show you step by step analysis when you enter any query.

Cons

Its too costly,Business can manage its expense but there must be some partial free access to the student.Second its too complicated due to its character.A small character error can leads towards baised results (due to human error).

### "Good way to start"

December 17, 2017

5.0

Pros

When I was first starting with descriptive statistics, I tried several softwares, and ended up choosing Stata. By then, it seemed as the easiest to use for basic descriptive statistics. It takes a while to completely gasp all functionalities, but it is rather easy to get the basic commands.

Cons

The price may not be the best for just basic statistics, so maybe consider buying only after trying it for a while and making sure it has all the resources you need.

Pros
