However, it requires substantial knowledge to operate it successfully. All the outputs can be extracted to MS word and excel, data extraction requires bit of experience, knowledge and practice to get it right. However, initial output can be saved on notepad which can copied and edited on any word processing and spreadsheet application. September 25, 2022 4.0 I have used it to analyze data for about 381 household surveys at 95 CI, which provided me quick results for regression analysis using PSM and binary logit models. Pros Its compatible for extraction and exportation with other software and excel are so amazing. It features are user-friendly and easy to run analysis. April 17, 2020 5.0 Pros I use Stata in my most quantitative projects where the used data is small in size. It's always my go-in software when I need to fit a regression or deal with simple statistical analysis. Stata has both GUI and coding environments so It's super practical for users who do/don't like coding. Stata is cheaply priced compared with SAS, therefore it's mainly used for research rather than industry purposes. Cons First of all Stata is not workable with high dimensional data sets unless the RAM is big enough. Secondly, Stata community is not large, so finding appropriate pieces of advice can be challenging. And at last but not al least the software is priced higher, one can have the same results with Python or R which are free of charge. Compare to other statistical packages, I really like it because it is the best of both world's regarding usability and statistical power. It can run advanced analyses on very large data sets, but it is also easier to use than other completely code-based programs and languages. I also really like that it stores your codes and functions in a library which makes them very easy to use. Pros It is more powerful than some more basic data analysis softwares (eg SPSS, excel) but it is also much more user friendly that some of the more powerful ones that are completely programming/code-based. Cons It does take some time to understand how to navigate this software. It is certainly not quite as intuitive as Excel or more basic softwares, but the statistical power more than compensates for the slight learning curve. When it comes to more complex analyses, like factor analysis and principal component analysis, I prefer using SPSS. Pros Stata can do the statistical analyses that I need for work (regression, correlation, ANOVA, chi-square, etc.). The software is relatively cheap compared to alternatives like SPSS. Cons It is very clunky and not aesthetically pleasing to look at. The command menu and coding can be confusing to those new to the program and it is not the most user-friendly. Cons Data visualizatikn without plugins and extra addins is completely awful. Basically some weird looking shapes on the plot area. It's interface and programming language are incredibly easy to learn and use, and it consistently delivers exactly what I need regardless of the project. I would highly recommend using this software if you're a newbie to statistical programming and need a cheap, yet powerful tool to provide your company with analysis for decision-making. Pros As a data analyst and statistician, Stata became my best friend. It's literally what I have for breakfast, lunch and dinner when I am at work. Stata enables me to run data and make an analysis. There is a reasonably shallow learning curve for basic stats, which is what many use this software for. It is also very powerful if you do want to use it to perform more complicated manipulations, although of course this requires a substantial time investment. Cons The help function is not as useful as I would like. I've found that common questions are hard to find answers to through the software itself. Not many folks but this one is easy to use. It's cheap and effective. it has an easy user interface and you can import your data from excel. Sometimes it's a bit tricky to get everything in the table just right but once you get the hang of it, it's not a big deal. Everything is available from the drop down menus. Cons Sometimes it is difficult to get things just right when starting out. You'll do something and think this is how it should be done but then your data entry doesn't work right. It is also very easy to use, even for people not familiar with programming language. Cons The programming possibilities are not as versatile as the R language, for example. Pros this is an alternative to SPSS in some scenarios and can help with statistical analysis. the documentation feature and the command line features are very handy, something the SPSS lacks altogether. the most important statistical tests like anova, ncova etc are all there and even has baesyan analysis. the graphics it produces are quite visually attractive compared to SPSS V21 atleast. the pricing is quite flexible, allowing individual researchers especially from developing coutries like india and pakistn to purchase it in affordable prices Cons command line mkes it cumbersome. and it can not handle complex statistical data analysis. it is not famous in the people of my feild i.e medcial reserachers although I am seeing it in increasingly frequent in the publications recently. It's a very useful statistical software. But it is necessary to have a strong base. Pros It's not a simple software. People need to have a large statistical base and knowledge of the commands. But when u have both, it's very useful for work and study. It has a section where you can check the commands and what they are used for. Cons You never finish knowing all the commands and terms and always have to write them perfectly. Another thing is that if u use it very often, it's better to have the recent edition.
