"X1 is way above the (meager) competition."
Overall: I have 72,000 files (37GB). X1 index size is 758MB, which I located on my HDD (not my SSD), with no visible impact on performance. I tried all other solutions and eventually gave up with CDS which I had been using for 12+ years. I can't work without a good file searching tool, and X1 is nearly perfect for my use.
Pros: Extremely fast and efficient Indexing engine. Instantaneous results, simple to use search expressions, excellent and fast preview of all kinds of files. Simply EFFICIENT !
Cons: A couple extra options would have been useful, but I saw nothing major. It's not cheap in the absolute, a bit better in the 3-years plan at this time, but it saves me so much time that I won't complain.
"Review - X1 Seacrch"
Overall: Searching for* sent invoices* received invoices* installation/setup files* documents in general* specific email (I have an archive back to 1999 (...)
Pros: Out-of-the box indexing Outlook, documents and files.Possibility to save returning search parameters in a search profil
Cons: It is possible to export a saved search and import it when needed. The imported saved search not always ends up in the right place, manual definition of needed search needed
"One of the best Search engine money can buy"
Overall: Saves a lot of time sifting through thousands of files in seconds.
Pros: If you're looking for an old email (written years ago), a document lost among thousands or even a specific sentence that you know is somewhere on your computer, X1 will find it for you. It's super easy to use and works a lot better than the native search features in Windows.
Cons: The only issue I have is that it will prompt a search window when you least expect it, well, when you don't need it.
"Couldn't live without it"
Overall: With all its foibles, an essential piece of software in my toolkit. I would be lost without it. Enables me to get back to almost any fact which is saved electronically on my system. However, can is pretty resource-intensive hardware-wise and can tend to bog down the system on occasion. Nevertheless, the fact that I'm willing to put up with this shows how essential it is to my electronic life.
Pros: The ability to search my entire electronic life -- email, documents, files in a granular manner
Cons: Can be occasionally very heavy on the system More customization of aesthetics, perhaps Can tend to get corrupted on occasion, and uninstall/reinstall/redeployment is a time-consuming task
"Essential software find files and emails from today to years ago instantly, and I mean instantly"
Overall: I have used it for many years and it allows me to find client files from yesterday to 10 years ago instantly, I has allowed me to have a papeless office. However, you need to run a program called Lucion File convert to that all you PDFs are indexed, that is the key to a paperless office FileConvert and X!
Pros: It takes away the time consuming and ultimately fail of trying to name all files so that you can find it, since it looks inside the file the name of the file is not really relevant.
Cons: Really nothing, it allows all kinds of searches that can be saved,
"Outstanding Desktop Search Engine"
Overall: An indispensable, awesome product. Head and shoulders above competing products that I have used. Examples of my uses: i) finding a file or email that was misfiled; ii) finding a file to use as a template; and iii) finding a clause in a contract to insert into a new contract. Practicing law would be much more difficult without this desktop search engine. I need it-you need it.
Pros: Fast searches, accurate, runs in the background, doesn't seem to impact computer performance, great filters
Cons: Occasionally freezes, not the prettiest interface
"CIO"
Overall: substantial time savings. I'll making this a mandatory utility for all members of my team moving forward.
Pros: Began using this utility in 2012. Cant say enough positive about the utility. Just never leave home without it.
Cons: obtaining support has been a challenge in the past.
