### "Powerful Accounting Software that Enables Anyone to Effectively Manage Their Accounts"

Overall, was a truly powerful software that took the dread of dealing with accounting and reconciliation and made it rather straightforward. The accounting process can effectively be handled by any person, which is rather refreshing. As an attorney, I'm not an accountant. So having something else to learn and utilize while already extremely busy would be a major inconvenience. However, Xero took what would have been a terrible experience and made it manageable.

Pros

is a pretty straightforward product that is effectively almost immediately deployable. Xero's dashboard is not bulky or overwhelming like a significant number of other accounting software tends to be. Xero's help manuals and tutorials were also very useful and are great for helping users quickly refamiliarize themselves with the software. Xero worked well for my law firm for IOLTA (Lawyer Trust Account) reconciliation purposes. With the software linked to your desired account, you can easily reconcile all incoming and outgoing payments and expenses on a given account. Once set up, you literally can log in right after making a purchase to reconcile your accounts without having to fumble through old receipts later to try to remember specific actions that were taken on behalf of a client.

Cons

The only con that I personally experienced with was that I routinely was required to relink and subsequently "resync" my banking account with Xero. Admittedly, this may have been a banking issue and not necessarily a Xero issue. However, when the relinking had to happen, this created a significant amount of issues because I was forced to relink the account, reimport expenses and incoming sums and then ensure that all the amounts had actually synced appropriately from my physical bank account to the Xero software.

I used to love the bank reconciliation but they changed it and made it terrible with ugly fonts and large type it’s not functional and not user friendly and they won’t take feedback to change it back.

Cons

The bank reconciliation upgrade is terrible and the recent one to the contact manger is equally as bad.

### "I can't wait for it to be finished!"

It's a lot of money to get setup with a certified consultant. Very few consultants available in Canada. When we did find one she was great but she bills you for every second she works. As in not any free advice. My lawyer is easier to work with.

Pros

As a former quickbooks user of about 20 years, it was a big deal to switch platforms. At first glance it looked like it would do everything we wanted. I loved the price point, the interface and relative ease of use. The multi currency was great as was the ability to integrate with Stripe. You make a lot of compromises to save on the huge monthly cost of quickbooks but there are workarounds.

Cons

There are so many things that are just common/must have's for any business. Things like progressive billing, job costing and even the ability to make your own journal entries are missing. We had to hire a consultant and spend around $800 just to get it to add purchases easier to the mix with HubDoc. You see job costing catagories at the invoice level but not software or 3rd party app to back it up. The single most annoying thing about it is the support. It's non existent. You complain, They tell you its not a problem and ignore your requests. I struggle daily with the search function. I can't get about 50% of my searches to work. The clients I'm looking for are entered. I'm typing them in fine but you often have to visit contacts menu and find them manually by quote number or just never ending scrolling. Upon complaining numerous times the best they can do is say "it might take up to two weeks for your contacts to sync. " : It's 2020 and the dark ages of cloud software have passed. You need to fix the search function and add job costing to be considered a contender. So here we are in 2020, manually adding each of our sales to a spreadsheet and adding the subsequent bills to it to see if we made $. They make it incredibly hard to contact support and they are quite unresponsive when they do reply to your ticket. They try really hard to push you to support forums, where there are literally hundreds of complaints on the same issue with the ability to comment closed.

It had multi currency and the ability to API with Stripe. As an ecommerce firm selling in CDA and USA this is a hard thing to locate in the existing pool of apps.

Software is very useful, more convenient and east to use. It can access through cloud and you can track accounting, invoicing and billing online anywhere you are at anytime. I really love the product it helps small to medium business with their task daily and make their life better. Thank you!

Cons

I can't think of least the software can offer, it is beneficial for all business owners to ease daily works and duties, sometimes if there is internet issue that's the only instance the software doesn't really work but it is not because of the software. So far I am happy using the software through icloud.

's main benefit to us as a mid tier accounting firm is the ease of importing information. It supports multiple bank feeds on a reliable basis and its open API allows for the support of many add in apps

Cons

Being a non-technical software, it does sometimes give the impression of not being as robust in terms of ease of change of prior information. This can be overcome by locking down periods, one just has to remember to do this though.

Pros

I paid a partner to help me get set up and explain to me the basics I needed to know, and from there I have been able to work out the rest fairly easily. It's worth having the fundamentals set up, and there are many partners out there willing to help. I love that it gives me the independence to DIY my accounting, and I just pay my accountant each quarter to look over everything before I lodge my BAS to make sure everything looks right before lodgment. It has also given me the power to understand where my business stands from a financial standpoint - something I have often ignored when using other platforms due to the complexity behind them.

Cons

I wish there was a way to set up auto billing for clients.

I really disliked the user experience with QuickBooks Online - it felt like it was made for an accountant, not a business owner with limited accounting experience. ### "Very different to Sage 50"

We moved from Sage line 50 to , this has mainly been a positive experience. From our day-to-day usage, sending invoices, chasing debt, bank reconciliation it is very easy to use. Our accountant set up Dext to import receipts and expenses which means we spend much less time with data entry now and we are much more paperless than we were. The key driver for us was to work in a cloud based system that would integrate with other business management systems and Xero kept coming up as the one that plays nicely with lots of other services. Our managment accountant has taken a lot more convincing as the web-based interface can be a little more clumsy in some 'pure-accountancy' areas and getting the chart of accounts nicely presented has taken a bit of effort. Generally we're really happy with Xero and are also happy with the split that the CRM/MRP/ERP system is supported by that vendor leaving the accountancy to the accountancy experts.

Pros

Ease of use from a day-to-day perspective for a non accountant and integration with other cloud software such as Dext and Flowlens

Cons

We have had a couple of glitches where bank feeds have stopped working for periods of time, manual import of bank statements can take a few attempts to get right.

### "One of the better accounting softwares"

is really quite good among the range of accounting software and I'd particularly recommend it for smaller business accounting, as it makes self-service easy.

Pros

I find is overall fairly easy to use on a regular basis. I use it both with my main company and for my personal consultancy business and it's useful for both. Invoicing is very straightforward and the insights/analytics for this is very good. It integrates well into other products, for example our payroll software, so payroll is automatically posted in the ledger. Bank integrations are good and reconciliation is very quick and easy to complete. It also has a lot of help articles available.

Cons

As with many accounting softwares, is complex and it's not always obvious how to do something. The design could be more intuitive and I do find myself at times clicking around trying to figure out where something would be. Whilst this doesn't solve some of the reasons you'd need an accountant, for the most part it is still very good.

### "The best at what it does"

Full Disclosure: I am an accountant and I recommend to many of my clients. When the expectations are in alignment with the capabilities of the software, then everyone is happy. People get into trouble with ANY software when they jump in thinking they know what it does and are then disappointed. All accounting and ERP software has limitations and Xero is no exception, but what it does, it does well. It provides payables, receivables, bank reconciliation and general ledger as its core functionality. There is a very capable estimating/quoting/order/ process that ties into AR invoices smoothly. But, the requisition/purchase/inventory side is very, very basic. In fact there are no requisitions and the purchase orders are so limited that I recommend you not use them. The inventory is only what is needed to make the sales side functional. So, if you need strong inventory support, you have to use a third-party add-on designed just for this purpose.

Pros

What is good about are 1) Real-time bank feeds and bank reconciliation - this is what scared the pants off of Intuit and forced them to develop new functionality. 2) Xero fully embraces and enables third-party developers to provide niche solutions that have rich interaction with Xero. 3) The features keep getting better and better quarter after quarter. 4) Perhaps my relationship as a partner skews this, but I've had nothing but excellent support from Xero. I can call someone if I have to, but I almost always get issues resolved through technical support in a timely fashion. Some of my favorite add-ons for Xero are GeoOp for field services, Deputy which integrates its scheduling, time and attendance functions with Xero payroll, and Float which projects cashflow. The new reporting and the tags are fantastic.

Cons

There are some features I would like to see "sooner," but they are on the roadmap for "later." People jump on because of the price without having a Xero consultant evaluate their suitability for the application - that can create an expectation gap, and that inevitably leads to an unhappy customer. I just hate it when people let their wallet do their thinking for them and then blame the software because it "doesn't do enough." The payroll is fine. I spoke to the VP in charge of payroll development and he is all about improving the functionality, so it will continue to improve. What is there now is very well designed to be comprehensive and flexible, but there are situations where a third-party payroll like Gusto will make more sense for your organization. They are the first ones to suggest you look at solutions like Gusto, ADP, Paychex and others that integrate seamlessly with Xero. It is annoying that the tags are limited to two categories, and this won't be revised until they have their design for job costing completed. No word yet on when that will be.

For my almost 5 years of using this software, I am to say that this is by far the amazing tool I've been using. It's really handy and is your greatest partner in all of your bookkeeping and accounting dilemma.

Pros

As from using manual reporting shifting to a very automated and user friendly tool, it's really handy and convenient as it really saves a lot of time from posting entries to reporting.

Cons

What I like least in this software is sometimes the errors I've been encountering when they have new updates. And also the new format version of the reports and bills, which sometimes mislead you and might made you overlook the details. The appearance is not friendly to the eyes especially to those who have a poor vision like me.

### "Feels dated and lacking in development for such a widely used platform."

It's...'fine'. is a product that works and does a job but it gives me no particular joy in using it. Features like the 'Business Snapshot' are nice and are a hint at the potential within the platform but generally it's a dull place to be for dull content.

Pros

Fundamentally works. It does the job it's designed to do and it does it well. We can work with it in partnership with our accountant. Because it is one of the market leaders, it integrates with a lot of other systems and tools, meaning we can easily pair it with our project management software.

Cons

As a platform, feels dull and dated. It doesn't feel like there is much investment in improving the platform, adding new features, or any kind of roadmap for the future. Most frustratingly, we pay extra for the expense claim module but it is awful to use. There is no way or organising any of the expenses you have added so unless you add them in the exact date order they were spent, it's almost impossible to check you have captured everything or reconciled everything against a card statement. Such a simple thing to fix.

At the time was the more modern platform. Now, I think Sage might have the edge.

### "Zero - The Best Cloud Based Accounting Software For Medium To Large Businesses"

Zero is easy to use and is a strong accounting software that has a large feature selection. This is not ideal for small businesses with few users. Zero is a good accounting solution for medium to large businesses with multiple users. They offer a ton of guides on how to do invoicing, budgeting and bank reconciliation, how to start a business and much more. They also have plenty of videos where you can learn how to use their software.

Pros

What I liked most about this software is that it is cloud-based so there is nothing to download as long as you have internet access and it's compatible with any device. It's easy to set up and use, which means that you'll save on time spent on bookkeeping. It also offers a lot of integrations and tons of automations that can save you a lot of time. Zero offers a 30-day free plan where you're able to check it out if this is a good accounting solution for you. They also provide videos where you can learn how to use the software.

Cons

The Zero accounting software has a steep learning curve compared to other accounting software. It actually takes a while to get acquainted with all the features. Zero only provides a single invoice template that you can customize. I think this is where they need to improve at least by providing more template designs to choose from. Zero's customer service is very poor and you can only contact them via email or through help centre articles, there is no phone service available to customers.

### "Best in Multi-currency accounting for SMB"

was the best choice back in 2015 (when no one gave multi-currency) and still is in 2021 (when there are some who do). I have now added another company to Xero and cannot imagine shifting to another platform....ever.

Pros

With most clients abroads, we find its best to bill them in their local currency. Luckily for us, is there to help sort our books out and keep them in order. It integrates with many bank feeds & popular wallets/fintechs like PayPal, Payoneer & TransferWise so accounts are upto date - always. Another feature we really use is their tracking fields. Xero allows users to setup 2 tracking fields that can be added to invoices, expenses, bills and assigned to each line. This helps us keep track of project based work and has been our way since before Xero ventured into Project based accounting (that users need to pay additional fee for) It also integrates with online payment gateways such as PayPal, Stripe, GoCardless, and a few others; thus payments are a breeze for clients. As a non-accountant, Xero is easy to use even when you get into all the features it provides.

Cons

They have made some changes to their UI esp where invoices and expenses are concerned. Luckily for older users, expenses are still free however, for new users it isnt and each person filing expenses on it needs to pay a small fee. I think it should be free for a small number of users (atleast 2) and then charged.

has streamlined our operations, and simplified our record keeping, and notification of when bills are due for payment or invoices due for collection. The dashboard is fantastic for an overall picture. The reporting tools are excellent, and the ease of use is so logical and straightforward, that it's simple l to self-teach even for a beginner. On top of that when you have any questions the how-to guides are thorough in themselves, and support is excellent and very quick to come back to you with an in depth answer.

Pros

The ease of use is fantastic, and a beginner is able to self-teach quite easily with the fantastic guides and webinars that are available from . The support is also exceptional and I have always had my queries answered in great detail and very quickly.

Cons

My main issue was that I would like to be able to create different delivery addresses on invoices that have one invoice address but different delivery locations, as it's important to specify. To workaround we write it in the body of the invoice, however with previous systems we have been able to enter multiple delivery addresses, for one invoice address and select the required one each time.

is cloud-based accounting software that connects banks, accountants, management, and advisors from anywhere with any device with active internet. It performs all accounting tasks from preparing ledgers, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial statements to the management of payroll, taxation, bank reconciliation, and inventory. Online billing enables to send bill through email.

Pros

manages the whole accounting of business straight forward. Particularly automating the process of bank reconciliation is amazing time saver, it connects to banks and credit cards. Moreover, it effectively and easily integrates with other cloud based software which enhances usability of Xero.

Cons

Process of bank reconciliation has been automated but the process got glitches causing bank feeds stopped and entity has to restore to importing bank statement manually which takes time and attempts more than once. Inventory management needs improvement. Customer support is not perfect comparatively. It is not user friendly for those who have little accounting knowledge.

is easy to setup and use than Sage Intacct. Accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, integration, etc provided in a better way in Xero comparatively.

Initially it was sold as a 360 degree application and later we understand that it is not. But to make it a complate solution we have to use add on applications that is increasing our cost.Reporting is very complicated and not easy to manage unless CA services are hired. (another expense)For us it a short time solution, as soon we have our business stablished /Dear will be the first thing we will get rid off.

Pros

Good for financial compliance and monitor cash flow and bank tranactions.Can be easily integrated with only a set of applications but not provide open source API.

Cons

The integration is not possible through open source API. have to select from the set of application that are compatible with ZERO.The data synchronisation with integrated application still face some bugs.Due to it not being a 360 degree business solution number of integrated application are requried that actually increases the overall cost of running . in short it has a lot of Hidden Costs.

Now that I am up and running I really like it. The nominal structure is very different to Sage Line 50 but the principles are the same. I was advised by multiple accountants to choose or Sage online above Quickbooks

Pros

Online means that we can share information across the team as we do not work from a central office.

Cons

I did need an expert to help me set up and make sure all the data was imported correctly. We bought in around 10 hours of expert help to get us started.
