Pros As a user of Vend POS we are able to integrate using an extension with Xero, which simplifies our stock control and invoice payment and reconciliation workflow tremendously. The Xero suite has been a simple experience and we have been using it for Payroll for a year as well. Our CPAs are able to access and use the data to work on our tax returns as well. Cons There are more commonly used web-based bookkeeping and accounting suites that may be more suitable for more complex businesses such as Quicken where the adoption and recognition of terms, reports, workflows is already there. More CPA and employees will be familiar with them off the bat. Xero is a bit unique in that it was built from the ground up more recently as a simple alternative to these large corporate accounting suites and technologies. Review Source Jamie S. Xero HQ enables the practice to easily manage all clients in one place. And if course Xero Tax completes the suite giving the practice everything it needs to run an efficient ship. Manager Hospital & Health Care Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Clean , user friendly " October 20, 2023 4.0 Overall it works great, especially reconciliation of bank accounts, invoicing and bills.One thing to be mindful of is how GST settings are applied... to each customer settings and to each invoice.... It's easy to get this stuffed up. Pros Generally, Xero is easy to use and if you have one contact per company you shouldn't have an issue. However, if you need to send invoices to different people in the same company/organisation, you need to create a new contact (with a slightly different name as it will say the other one already exists), or, change the contact name and then, after sending the invoice, change it back to the main contact. Neither of these are any good. Cons The product itself is fully featured in a way MYOB isn't. HOWEVER, if you have an issue with MYOB you'll get someone on the phone within a few minutes, but with Xero you have to use their knowledge-base then post a request for help. I'm still waiting a phone call I requested five days previously only to be told it will be another two days. What a joke. Review Source TW Trent W. Often we just get answers like "we don't currently do that" with very little guidance on possible solutions.However, the Xero community is amazing and has plenty of feedback to possible questions when needed. November 8, 2018 1.0 Up until this week, the service has been fairly reliable, with problems faced by similar companies that rely on Yodlee bank feeds for data. They are getting ready to finish spinning off their US payroll service, and like most transitions, bugs caused problems. For my company, Payroll went down completely and unexpectedly at the beginning of November. Their entire payroll section is missing from the website, even though it wasn't supposed to happen for another month. We haven't been able to process payroll for four days. They acknowledged a bug on their status page only yesterday. Then several updates over a three hour period, then boom! It looks like its been fixed within three hours of finding a bug. Only it's completely bogus. Their own tech support told us about this bug four days ago. And it's still not resolved. Following up daily by email with their support people resulted in nothing. Not even one response. This has caused the most serious payroll night since I opened for business over two years ago. Bottom line: Look elsewhere for a company whose main market is the US and that has some skin in the game. I am closing my account with Xero as soon as I can. Pros Better than some of the other web-based double entry accounting systems, fairly fast, a good small company accounting package. Cons No way to contact them by phone. Despite many complaints and requests from others, they refuse. Their reason is that they can research the issue better before getting back to us. Baloney. Just a couple of things that needs changing would make it outstanding. Pros Anyone could start using Xero. It is very easy to use and user friendly. The Xero Community is my best friend as whenever I need help with something, just look it up and generally presto, the answer is found. It has corresponding placeholders that enables you to customize references and other information needed to easily identify the entries. You can choose the status of the recurring bill as well (draft, awaiting approval, awaiting payment). The option to choose frequency, due date, and end date provide flexibility when you setup the recurring bill. Auto bank connection is good. Cons We had some issues with the bank feed in the early stages of implementation but this may have been more to do with the bank rather than Xero. Pros The simple and seamless implementation. As a Finance manage i manage a range of different type of small businesses. Xero is my go to software when selecting a new software, due to to is ease of implementation, user friendliness and ease or learning anything i need to fix. Cons Bank reconciliation and feed are a bit of hassle sometimes as there is not option to select between business vs personal account. Xero should be able to give option to provide feed for stand business vs personal login profile when setting up feed. Also to be able to select different account times like business loans, asset finance, etc. For atleast australian major banks. They have some of the worst customer service I have ever seen with an enterprise software tool. Pros Originally, Xero offered a fully cloud-based accounting solutions. Unfortunately, it has completely degraded and can no longer serve basic functions. Cons Xero completely stopped integrating with our bank. It has been several months with no sign of a fix and very little communication. Our books are now a complete mess, we are not able to close out the year or file taxes. We love the ability to connect and reconcile our accounts, easily process payroll, sign up new staff and process credit card payments for better cashflow. Cons There's nothing I don't like about Xero. I'm just looking forward to more features and the ability to integrate with more external software in the future, increasing automation wherever possible. Pros Xero is a great cloud accounting software. We have clients from all over the globe and Xero has worked just as well for clients in the United kingdom as well as clients in South Africa and Australia. The basic functions are very user friendly and our clerks get on well with it. Xero integrates with thousands of apps if you are one for automating functions. This makes sure that you can bring the latest technology to you using approved apps. There is a also a free trial period that allows customers to make sure this system works for them. Cons Xero may become a bit expensive as you add more apps for more functionality. It would be good to have a fixed cost which would allow access to all the apps in the Xero app store thereby allowing you to know that you will have no extra costs no matter what you decide to add on.
