I lost a whole lot of money, but thats because im a great plumber and turns out every one else already knew it was good. I wouldnt consider using any other program for my accounting, even if they offered it for free. Pros This makes the most boring subject in the world fun and easy. Bank feeds, reporting, single click reconciling, intergrations with all my other software, and so much more. Cons I have a couple of hobby businesses that I run on xero that are turning over very minimal figures. It would be nice if there was a gate way package that allowed you to run for (free or very cheap). ie, if your turning over less . I still use it though. Review Source Francisco S. It's time to move on to something better. Pros Very simple UI. it's intuitive to use and it didn't take us long to understand everything the platform offers. Cons The platform is simple... yet it 'used to' work perfectly. The problem is that everything wasn't as dynamic or powerful as others platforms so Xero started to overhaul some features to make them better. The result? everything is now a new module that costs $$$/month/user. So what started as the 'best bang for your buck' is now as expensive as others. Im not a trained accountant or book-keeper but with some practice have become very proficient in using it. The ability to interrogate whats happened and correct mistakes is very good. Cons The API seems to have severe limitations. Why it is in 2018 that we need third party software to identify whats happening with our credit card merchant payments? Stripe and Xero are 2 of the biggest and supposedly cutting edge softwares out there and yet can't seem to find a way to talk to one another in a way that allows proper reconciliation. Between my book-keeper and 2 lots of software I probably spend x3 what the Xero subscription costs, just keeping on top of this very basic tedious task of reconciling stripe transactions. Filing the accounts takes about 20 minutes, and saves you £500-£1,500 in accountant's fees, which more than pays for the software. I needed to automate as much of my day-to-day business operations as possible, and Xero was a big part of that. It integrates with my CRM and time-tracking app, and takes in my online payment processing. Reconciliation takes a minute or two every couple of days. It has enabled me to reduce my after-hours office time significantly. Pros Xero is a new-generation online accounting app built from the ground up for online usage. The interface is mostly intuitive and easy to navigate. The underlying framework is true double-entry accounting with all the power that provides, but you don't have to go there to get daily work done, as a rule. There is a vast array of integrations available to add leverage to your company dataflow. Support is good and rarely needed. The app is very well documented and supplies detailed help articles for most operations. Cons The pricing is not bad but I feel it is a little high for a one-person business. They offer a time-tracking add-on but it is an additional 50% of the app cost per month, and this is a feature many competitors throw in for free. Like all web-based apps, your enjoyment in using it will depend in part on the quality of your internet connection. Review Source Deyna R. Pros Easy to use and links to bank account seamlessly. Can do payroll, invoicing and expenses on the system. Cons There isn't any bad things. In fact if you do have issues there are tabs you can tap on that lead you to a way to overcome it. You can use it alongside inventory/stock or with custom items, which means its flexible for a lot of different businesses or situations. Cons The process of saving and sending invoices or quotes isn't always clear. For example, you have to click 'SEND' to start writing the email that sends it - only once you've written that email and clicked send \*again\* does it actually get sent.Design options are there and powerful but not always easy to adjust or find when creating items. No major dramas or I would have changed by now. Pros As my business started to grow, I needed an accounting package that would be simple to use and help me to generate reports easily for the ATO, payroll, etc. Numbers are not my 'thing' so I relied on my accountant to suggest a package which ended up being Xero. I really have not had any trouble working out everything I need to do. Coding expenses is easy, generating BAS and Super reports is also simple. Anytime I have a problem, I contact my accountant who just walks me through the process. Fantastic. Cons The only thing I've found difficult is trying to do payroll via the app while travelling. I don't believe it is set up for this but I could be wrong (ie must have access to the full program to process pays). I know there is a lot more functionality available as well, but I haven't had time to play around with it all and I think it can be a little overwhelming if accounting doesn't come easily.
