" August 27, 2016 5.0 At first I found this approach confusing as I was so used to quicken. With assistance from tech support, I was up and running very quickly! Now keeping my business books up to date is really simple and takes very little time. I pretty much update every day or so and it only takes a minute or two. The reporting features are excellent. So far, I am probably only scratching the surface of the report features, but that is all I need! Pros Simple update of data, excellent report system. Help is 5 stars. As mentioned above, I had a bit of friction in transition to this system, and the help i received was quick and thorough. They made the transition much easier in this way. Greatly appreciated! Cons Not sure I have any. One bank update seems to lag a few days, but i that is the Bank, not Xero. My other accounts update quickly and on a daily basis. My clients have all started using Xero for their business accounts, this enables us to keep their accounts up to date in real time. Cons The only issue I have is with a third party not being able to directly feed and that;s LLoyds bank, I do hope that Lloyds get on board with direct feeds because the yodlee feed fails for my clients on a regular basis Review Source AV Ashleigh V. I can view all my reports real time which is great for strategising. I also get a kick out of reconciling each transaction and seeing my bank accounts fully reconciled in a lovely visual. Cons It is a bit more pricey than other softwares but not by too much that it would deter me from using their software. I have had no significant issues with its functionality, and the customer service team is always available to answer any questions I have. The features have allowed me to effectively track and manage my income and expenses. Pros Working with Xero has been a great experience! The interface is user-friendly, and the software has allowed me to stay on top of my financials efficiently. I now am able to easily track transactions, receive accurate financial statements, and generate detailed reports. Cons The cost of Xero can be quite expensive depending on the type of subscription one needs. Cons It has size limitations. We are at the max for Xero and should not have bought it as the company is too big. January 5, 2017 5.0 It's easy to set up and has a lot of great built-in features. Support is generally fast to respond. The corresponding app is quite limited and it's better on Android than iPhone. The online interface is clean and tidy which makes most things easy to find. Xero responds to customer requests for features but not always at the speed the customers want! Pros The entire interface is a little more friendly than Quickbooks Online, but takes some getting used to if you're a QB user. I like how you never really have to do a month end reconciliation as you just reconcile each transaction as they come in. I went with Xero because another management software that I had chosen only integrated with Xero, not QBO at the time. So I decided to give it a try and ended up liking it. Cons The reporting options aren't as customizable as I'm used to in QB. For example, I would like to print out a P&L by month, showing Jan-Current Month to date. But I can only print a monthly report going backwards- showing the current month first and then going back each month. So instead of left to right: Jan-Feb-Mar-Apr etc. It will only give me Apr- Mar - Feb - Jan. Review Source Ayano J. Pros For this being the firs accounting software that I used for my business, it got the job done. It was simple and straight forward for my invoicing and billing needs. Its integration with Capsule has been handy and features like recurring invoices are invaluable to a retainer-based business like ours. The pricing model is reasonable and our accountants like it, as does our book keeper who can work remotely and understands everything that is going on. Bank feed integration is also invaluable. Pros It is easy to use for invoicing, paying bills and even expense claims. We can have many users and the access options we choose from for each are really well set-up. It is easy to link a bank account to the software and keeping track of the money that comes in and out through a reconciling process, which allows you to see every transaction, even those you haven't necessarily created a claim, invoice or receipt for (i.e. credit card transactions transfer from online registrations/sales). Receipting is also very quick and easy to do. Cons Certain functionalities are not necessarily logical (for example when submitting an expense claim with 2 pages worth of expenses, if you're not carefully selecting everything on the two pages, you will end up having to pay the expense in multiple transactions or cheques). Pros By far Xero was the easiest accounting software to get started with. Really clean user interface, and I found it incredibly easy to get up and running quickly. Complex things such as tax setup and payroll and are made so easy I was questioning whether I even needed an accountant. Pricing is more then fair, and they have a ton of features and add ons that made this a no brainer for me. Review Source GC Geri C. The Account Watchlist on the Dashboard keeps important accounts front and center to keep track of my monthly and YTD expenses and sales. Cons There was a learning curve and not everything was easy to figure out, but I didn't have a lot of experience with accounting software, so it may have been my lack of experience. I also wish there was a way to only import a particular credit card account rather than all cards on the one account. This may be a specific issue just for our organization but it would be helpful. The way it is set up now I need to manually delete all of the unrelated credit card charges. Review Source sS shamese S. It has functions inside the program that other systems require a separate POS system, just to handle. Love the style of the reports, invoices, purchase orders. Look very professional. The help center is phenomenal. You'd probably never need to actually speak to a Xero representative. Cons Coming from a QuickBooks background, it can be a bit rough to figure out the best way to use it for efficiency. The search function is a little bit more cumbersome than QuickBooks. In general, it's good to have a few tabs of the company you're working with open at once, to really be able to get some work done. The 'reconciling' function is not necessarily something to dislike but it is just different (again, coming from a QB background). Review Source CW Christopher W. August 23, 2023 5.0 I produce ad hoc invoices and Xero provides an adaptable and clear solution that is easy and quick to use. Pros I like the clear layout, the invoicing functionality and the ease of use. I am new to Xero but I found it quite easy to pick up the functions I use and Xero seems to be quite adaptable when different scenarios are encountered. Cons So far I have not encountered anything which I find difficult or do not like. Xero is not fully integrated with the processes I use but it seems easy to utilise it as a stand alone function when needed.
