Very easy to set up and very flexible in the use of a standard chart of accounts or use your own. Cons Does not handle projects and/or jobs very well although with a bit of thought can work around. Don't like how contacts database can very easily get out of control by the automatic addition of new nonsense contacts created from bank transaction imports. Waiting for a Project/Job Costing module to be added. Payroll not as slick as rest of the accounting app. Review Source HL Hannah L. Pros Having previously input payroll figures straight into a PAYE system, Xero makes things much more straight forward and also makes more sense. Cons The link between Xero and Nest Pensions has been problematic at times and I had resorted to just marking pensions as ;'filed' instead of relying on the link. Review Source KI Kenneth I. Pros I love the simple layout. On the dashboard you can see clearly, outstanding invoices and overdue invoices. This is essential for our team to access these numbers quickly and clearly. It's user friendly, has a clean/organized dashboard, and is compatible with many other third party softwares. Cons Would like to see some updates in the manual journals and reporting features. Well laid-out and designed UI. Good permissions structure. Ability to create great print templates. Cons Invoice module has some shortcomings for businesses that require personalization. Keeps tracks of invoices, graphs cash flow, live banks feeds allow up to date profit and loss statements. Cons Customer support is poor. Emails response only, eight hours ish. During this 2 step authentification process I have been locked out of xero. Cannot process invoices, make payments nor call anyone to for help. My accountant's Xero account manager wont answer the phone, meanwhile Ive been unable to access my accounts for three days. Have no choice but to use another provider and start again. Extremely helpful and I do not have to make notes on a diary like I used to earlier. It's affordable and easy to use. If you're familiar with Mint, it's very similar in how you categorize transactions and set up rules. And the Xero team was really helpful when I was just getting started. Totally worth it. Pros Xero provides a centralised platform for all bookkeeping and accounting needs. It's easy to use, and has a clear interface, along with a wide range of available integrations. Even without much experience in accounting, Xero allows us to simply keep track of all invoices using their clear environment. Cons The monthly cost of Xero can be considered quite high. Support is on point when you get stuck with things and I would say that the system is very user-friendly as It is not difficult to figure out things. Pros My accountant likes it and uses it to speed up the reconciling. I like how it connects with VEND and other apps. Cons Trying to get support is a hassle as it takes days to get anything resolved due to the slow responses. Pros XERO certainly provides a number of novel and useful automated functions, especially for business owners. Cons XERO software contains far too many errors and non-practical functions, such as payroll. It does work, but the limited functionality means that it doesn't provide the range of reports and information that a business owner would expect. Still need a bookkeeper or accountant to properly administer, however. Cons Way more expensive than competitors and on top of that, bank feeds constantly fail and/or transactions don't properly get picked up. I was so happy to discover xero.com and I tell everyone I know they should switch! Very intuitive and easy to use, great selection of built in reports, easy integration with banking and credit card processing and I love their large library of plug-ins. You can add virtually any functionality by adding a plug-in. They don't provide phone support, which concerned me at first, but their email support is on point - quick and effective. I use Infusionsoft for CRM and HelloSign for contracts. I enter the key fields in Infusionsoft which triggers an invoice in XERO (accounting) to be automatically sent and a contract from HelloSign to be filled in and sent. Within minutes I have a signed contract, received funds and everything is reconciled in Xero. Pros This software is so easy to use and the User Interface is attractive and intuitive. The mobile application makes spending, invoicing, billing and reconciling a breeze! Cons I really like this software, but it is a little hard to reconcile when you split up line items.
