The UI is so much better, and it is much more user friendly. We have yet to experience an outage, and reliability is of upmost importance to us. It is extremely easy to use and the customer support and software updates are top notch. I have used this software in the past for a small business and I wouldn't recommend any other software. Pros \- Like the tax Aspect - easily adds tax to invoices for customers - Effortless - just requires a printout for tax auditing purposes - Online payable - Integration with online banking systems for reconciliation Cons Having used many account software products over a number of years, I can honestly say there are not cons for this product and has been a game change for our small business. However, unlike quickbooks it has more functionality and is very adaptable. You can add functions over time such as payroll. We have two businesses operating from the US and the UK and both refer to local laws and taxes. Some functions take a while to work out, split invoices and payments, accounting for forex, the fixed asset register is also cumbersome. Xero is a good bridge between Quickbooks and bigger accounting packages such as SAGE or SAP. Pros Flexibility, it's easy to undo and re-do transactions. Very easy to navigate rent payments and such. Pros The reports setting and it's filter, the automatic bankline features and the fact that it does stick rigidly to accounting principles so you can't go that wrong. The import from excel feature does save hours. Cons I dislike how you can't look (and potentially undo) things that you have just done, for example falsely raising an invoice from the excel function since there is no batch delete option for awaiting payment invoices which may have been incorrect. It's constantly not working though, Cons When you need help they only way to get ahold of customer service is thru their online portal. Expect to wait hours, days and even weeks to get a response. The top UI where you can browse to different locations feels like it's not sorted out too well. Pros Super easy to use, the Business owner of the Company gave me a quick '2 minute tour' of the basics of Xero & by the end of the day i felt confident in using it, I love the convert Purchase Orders to Bill capability. Invoicing features are professional looking and functional. It is helpful that Xero can integrate with other software like Expensify. They are in the cloud which is huge when working remote. Customer service is very helpful when answers can’t be found in the vast knowledge base. Cons It goes without saying but financial software plays an integral role in any business. Things need to done when deadlines are due. Pros I like that I can do EVERYTHING from Xero -- run payroll, pay taxes, track income and expenses, run reports, etc. Cons Xero is occasionally "down" and I am without access. It seriously cover 360degrees of accounting there is nothing that they did not cover, it also integrate with all the major banks and so you will have live feed from the bank Cons You need to be a trained accountant to learn how to use it. As it does a lot there is a lot that you need to know before you are using it properly. Complete waste of time and money" January 11, 2018 1.0 Save your time and money and go elsewhere Cons Not all banks trust it and the invoice design is very limited. We used Excel before with a simple layout and one corporate logo but couldn't get Xero to copy the layout. You have to spend an extra £3 a month for quick banking and even then it doesn't work. Aldermore don't trust Xero to access the account and we've had endless problems with Barclays too. Xero use a third party called Yodlee and this seems to be the problem but Xero either won't or can't get the clearance for it to work properly Have spent a fortune on software support from our accountant to no avail.
