I honestly don't know how any business can live without software like this in 2021. Makes bookkeeping super easy and as an accounting noob it has taught me so much. Cons It would be good if they could account for VAT in multiple countries. Pros It's so intuitive to use. Prior to Xero the accounting software was really hard to use. Xero really made accounting easy and they've kept improving the product over the years. Definitely a market leader. Cons oh god - I wish the Xero UX designers could work on improving Microsoft products as well. So many companies could learn from Xero about great customer experience. Combined with its native payroll functionally and ease of payment reconciliation, it is worth every penny. Pros Payment reconciliation and linking with bank accounts/payment cards. User interface. Mobile apps. Customization. Ability to add additional users and control their access level. Third party integrations. Cons It seems to have issues making tax payments via ACH to the state authorities. Pros I like the automated repeat billing and the fact that it automatically imports my bank statements and matches the transactions to invoices and allocates it similar to previous transactions - this saves a lot of time. This means that all my bank accounts and expense reports are in one central place. it allows me to do bookkeeping and accounting all together. Cons The software is built primarily for bookkeepers and accountants. I'm not either of those, and so the interface was slightly overwhelming to begin working with. Pros The system is pretty intuitive. There are a few issues but overall it is an easy platform for non accountants to use. Cons While intuitive for the most part the areas where it is not intuitive can be really hard to fix. The data importation is not the best. When you get an error it does't tell you why.. so it takes forever to fix it. I can automate most of that using the API and that is what I love the most about them! Pros I can pay people what they need, and bill people what I need. I like the API interface with it as well. That is always a plus in my book. Cons I don't really like that they are based out of the US. It makes it harder to talk to someone higher up in the company with the hours that I keep. Director Education Management Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Xero- worth using for tutoring agencies" December 7, 2016 4.0 The reason why we shifted to Xero from a free accounting platform with our Business Athena Tuition (www.athenatuition.co.uk) is that we had begun using Tutorcruncher- tutor agency business software. Tutorcruncher has integrated with Xero to make our tutor and agency invoices and payment orders easy to upload and place in Xero. In this regard Xero is ideal, it integrates with the most important software that we as an agency use. If you use tutorcruncher, you should use Xero. Aside from this, Xero's functionality closely mirrors other accounting software but seems to be among the more modern and cloud based. Most accountants will be familiar with Xero which is another major reason to use it. However, compared to the free software I had previously used, it was more complex and therefore slightly less intuitive. However, it is also much more feature rich. Recommend. Pros It integrates with Tutorcruncher well, it's feature rich, modern and cloud-based, fairly easy to use and well known by accountants. Cons Less user-friendly than possible- with more features. They should probably hide lots of advanced features for new users. Customer Experience Officer (CEO) Financial Services Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Almost A Home Run" November 21, 2015 5.0 Xero integrates nicely with many CRMs (that's up to the CRM), but it really shines in basic double-entry accounting, allowing you to match transactions like Quickbooks does but with a more streamlined interface. There are two huge problems (at least for me) that I've suggested they address: 1) the email that gets sent as a cover when you send an invoice to a customer is awful. Just black text on a white background. No customization offered, no company logo, no nothing. This has been requested by users for 3 years, and their feedback is that it is low priority at best. 2) If you use alternative payment gateways like PayPal or Stripe, which you can with Xero, you have to create separate invoice templates. So, if you send one to a customer thinking they like PayPal, they don't know they can use Stripe and when they complain, you say "Oh, I can...", and you void the invoice and resend the Stripe one. Silly and not customer-focused. I thought I'd solve all this by moving to Freshbooks. They fix both of those problems. But...they don't do double-entry accounting. You can only reconcile your bank EXPENSES, but not your income items. Sigh. So, for now at least, I use both. Xero to generate everything, and Freshbooks to send the invoice. Both of them play nice with my CRM and I can use Zapier to auto-create the Freshbooks customer after I create them in Xero. Pros See above for details. Cons See above for details.
