Makes financial visibility and optimization of business performance very efficient" April 2, 2025 5.0 Xero has powerful financial management features that has enabled us to have a simple and streamlined experience managing loans and mortgages, making it easy to handle our financial data accurately and efficiently. It has helped us avoid discrepancies in financial reports and tax returns by correctly recording and categorizing all our transactions including repayments and interest. Xero upscales and enable us to keep up with fluctuating mortgage rates and housing prices. It provided us with realtime updates of our financial aspects which help inform our clients and accurately process all their transactions. Pros Xero provides a sleek and simple interface that has enabled us to set up our loans and mortgages as either bank accounts or non current liability account, allowing for detailed tracking of payments, interest and principal amounts.This helps us to accurately manage high volumes of loan transactions and correctly recording all financial data for tax and reporting purposes.Additionally, Xero automatically pull transaction from banks and credit card which allows for easy reconciliation of bank statements and loan transactions that accurately match bank records. This saves us time and reduce the need for manual data entry. Xero also supports management of business credit cards and PayPal accounts, which facilitates smoother financial operations. Xero's cloud based nature is a plus. It enable us to access our financial data and clients debt reports from anywhere Cons Xero has been dedicated in solving our needs. The reports are easy to pull and are set up in a way that is easy to read. Pros The software is very easy to use. The product is also a great value for money. It’s a great product for small business and people who are not well versed in accounting. Cons The customer support isn’t great. The support is all through email. June 13, 2025 4.0 Overall - I swapped to Xero from MYOB and I’ll never go elsewhere. It does everything I need it to in the one spot, and it really is seamless. Pros I love how user friendly Xero is! It’s so easy to get the hang of and super simple. The help forum is also amazing and every time I’ve been stuck, I’ve had my issues resolved so fast. Cons My only fault with Xero is the back end looking super outdated. I feel it needs an upgrade so things look more accessible. I mainly refer to the invoicing settings here. Custom invoice templates and colours etc would be a great addition. Pros Xero has a great interface that makes accounting tasks easier even for non accountants. It is cloud based so you can access your financial data from anywhere and it integrates well with banks. Automatic bank feeds, invoicing and reconciliation saves a lot of time. Cons Some advanced features require add ons which can increase cost. Pros the ease of use, it is quick and easy to process invoices and calculate the vat at the end of each month for our accounts. Cons sometimes the OCR reader/scanner doesnt read the entire invoice meaning that you have to manually pick out parts of the invoice and input yourself. It's relatively easy to use, but perhaps lacks some features which could make life a bit easier. Pros Xero is a pretty good invoicing/accounting platform which integrates well into our business. I like the email templates and ability to send quotes/invoices with custom messages, feels personal but is simple to set up. Works well for the amount of invoices we handle (200 a year ish). Cons There are certain little things which I have found a little difficult. For example, I can't just paste an address in and it auto-fill the City/Street/Zip code, you have to individual paste in each field. Also, once you have send and invoice, you can't then add automatic email reminders. I also thing the overdue invoice page UI could be improved to help our finance department be a bit more organise, e.g. AI features could work well here (flag invoices which are unlikely to be paid based on past experience or due dates). It was also easy to resolve mistakes. Pros Zero is a very well designed software which is easy for the customer and accountants with many reports that are easy to use. It has helped us to budget more accurately and to easily monitor our cash flow. With Xero budgeting and expenses tracking tools, it has been easy to properly utilize and manage our financial resources. Pros Xero budgeting functions makes easy to allocate and control our financial resources for our projects. It offers detailed financial reports that help us monitor how our finances are being utilized. Extremely user friendly and informative every step of the way, ensuring all compliance is covered. Cons It can be somewhat stagnant at times in terms of the lack of colour and user interface. Perhaps an update could be done to combat this. I was able to set up my company correctly with the guided set up, I did when creating my bank account did not set up properly but was able to easily reverse entries to process correctly through the bank feeds available. That was my mistake completely. Pros Ease of use with the program, I was able to go in with no applicable knowledge and use the program with basic clarity. Cons I have not really found any issues as of yet, and have recommended the program to others over social medias. I enjoy using it and it does almost everything i want it to. Pros Intuative to use, feature rich, clear layout and appears to have a lot of investment/ improvements being made. Cons You can't see a log of any emails/ reminders you've sent. You can see the time and date stamp in the notes section but not what they read. The app is handy but a drastically cut down experience. Alternatives considered [Sage 50 Accounting](https://www.capterra.com/p/174753/Sage-50cloud/) Reason for choosing Xero Used Sage50 for a 3 month trial and was fine but the UX didnt feel as well executed, the features were fine and it did everything I needed it to, just Xero felt a lot more polished. Pros Built on a good bank feed as a solid foundation, makes the information reliable. Functionality is reasonable, not amazing, but reasonable is perfectly fine. It has a good balance of usability and functionality. Cons Recent price hikes are difficult to swallow, particularly if payroll is a requirement. Xero used to have a payroll only option for about $15 per month; their 2 person payroll plan is now $90 per month, and will presumably rise again next year. There are other quirks too that could easily be fixed by inexplicably aren't. They're not as responsive to these quality of life changes as they were initially, presumably the big company "not my job" inertia problem.
