It was also easy to resolve mistakes. Pros Zero is a very well designed software which is easy for the customer and accountants with many reports that are easy to use. Cons It can take some time to understand some of the reconciliations as there are multiple ways to receipt and pay invoices when not too simple. Review Source BL Beverley L. I enjoy using it and it does almost everything i want it to. Pros Intuative to use, feature rich, clear layout and appears to have a lot of investment/ improvements being made. Cons You can't see a log of any emails/ reminders you've sent. You can see the time and date stamp in the notes section but not what they read. The app is handy but a drastically cut down experience. Alternatives considered [Sage 50 Accounting](https://www.capterra.com/p/174753/Sage-50cloud/) Reason for choosing Xero Used Sage50 for a 3 month trial and was fine but the UX didnt feel as well executed, the features were fine and it did everything I needed it to, just Xero felt a lot more polished. Switched from [FreshBooks](https://www.capterra.com/p/142390/FreshBooks/) Used this for years with old company. Head of procurement Construction Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Good system" December 8, 2025 5.0 overall XERO is a quick and effective tool for the accountants and people who calculate month end figures and balance sheets. for accounts team who process the invoices if the scanner doesnt read them correctly it can be tricky. Pros the ease of use, it is quick and easy to process invoices and calculate the vat at the end of each month for our accounts. Cons sometimes the OCR reader/scanner doesnt read the entire invoice meaning that you have to manually pick out parts of the invoice and input yourself. Review Source JL John L. Pros Built on a good bank feed as a solid foundation, makes the information reliable. Functionality is reasonable, not amazing, but reasonable is perfectly fine. It has a good balance of usability and functionality. Cons Recent price hikes are difficult to swallow, particularly if payroll is a requirement. Xero used to have a payroll only option for about $15 per month; their 2 person payroll plan is now $90 per month, and will presumably rise again next year. There are other quirks too that could easily be fixed by inexplicably aren't. They're not as responsive to these quality of life changes as they were initially, presumably the big company "not my job" inertia problem. January 10, 2025 4.0 Xero is an excellent tool that has allowed me to manage my department's expenses in a transparent and orderly way in simulation projects, prevention exercises and detailed analysis. It has allowed me to pay vendors and reimburse expenses for services such as security consultants, incident response companies, relocation of response teams to different geographical areas, mobilization teams and replacement of damaged infrastructure, etc. Pros It allows me to manage my department's accounting in real time, giving me a clear and up-to-date visualization of expenses. It helps me a lot in generating reports with balance sheets and cash flow to reliably assess profitability and make better decisions in the future. Also helps with journals each month and subsequently accounts productions directly from wages control accounts. Pros Payroll processing was very easy to use and efficient. Extremely user friendly and informative every step of the way, ensuring all compliance is covered. Cons It can be somewhat stagnant at times in terms of the lack of colour and user interface. Perhaps an update could be done to combat this. I was able to set up my company correctly with the guided set up, I did when creating my bank account did not set up properly but was able to easily reverse entries to process correctly through the bank feeds available. That was my mistake completely. Pros Ease of use with the program, I was able to go in with no applicable knowledge and use the program with basic clarity. Cons I have not really found any issues as of yet, and have recommended the program to others over social medias. Amazing software for payroll and financial management. We mainly use it for administrative expenses, not to receive payments, but we can see ourselves using it in the future. Pros It is very easy to use, and it has everything you need to run a payroll properly. I have been using it for a couple of years and it has been great. Cons I wish they had video tutorials on YouTube when you first set it up. It can be quite tricky and complex for beginners. It takes time to get a hold of all the feautures. I like how I can reconcile transactions in Xero from my bank feeds and set up recurring bills -- so I do not have to stress / waste time searching through everything and compiling all the docs I need come BAS or EOFY tax time, as everything is in there! I used to use spreadsheets, Xero has saved countless hours and hassles dealing with that. Cons It's mildly annoying that when I started with Xero I was on such a good price - I don't use it for all that much besides what I've said in this review -- and there have been a few price hikes that seem steep, and I'm a bit stuck now because all my data is in here! But... the convenience is worth the price, at the moment. I wonder if they know that they really have people and am a tad worried about future price hikes... Review Source KK Kaya K. I’ve had no problems with integrations or giving access to others. Pros Easy to use and setup with a lot of detailed help documents. The integration with the ATO is super useful and it saves me a lot of time otherwise spent on lodgements. Cons It’s a bit pricey if you want to add fairly simple features on like multi currency or superannuation payments. Pros Easy to use for our volunteer-run car club. The two best features for us are: Unlimited Users: This is absolutely essential. We can grant access to the committee without having to share credentials or worry about security. Bank Reconciliation: The automated bank feeds and reconciliation process makes matching hundreds of annual membership renewals easy. January 3, 2025 5.0 Overall, I used Xero on a day to day basis, but begrudged using it. The interface just doesn't help when you are trying to find things and reports etc, the only good part for me that I really enjoyed using was the receipt upload and expense management side of things. Sadly though, this wasn't enough for me to stick with Xero and I ended up moving away. Pros Has all the features you would expect from an accounting platform. Cons Clunky to use, interface needs work to be more streamline and to enable you to make less errors.
