The platform makes managing finances and accounting much more organized and efficient. Its easy-to-use interface, cloud accessibility, and helpful automation features save a lot of time and simplify day-to-day bookkeeping tasks. While there are a few areas that could be improved, Xero has been a reliable and valuable tool for managing business finances. Pros What I like most about Xero is how simple and user-friendly the platform is for managing business finances. The dashboard is clean and easy to navigate, making it simple to track invoices, expenses, and cash flow all in one place. I also appreciate the cloud-based access, which allows me to manage accounting from anywhere, along with the seamless bank integrations that help save time and keep records accurate. Cons What I like least about Xero is that some of the more advanced accounting features can take time to learn, especially for new users without an accounting background. There can also be occasional syncing delays with bank feeds, and certain customization options for reports and invoices feel somewhat limited compared to other accounting software. It makes budgeting a breeze. Pros Xero is so easy to use, one of the better and more flexible accounting programs. The links to accounts, hub docs, and tax make this a go to for any accounting use Cons Xero is user friendly, so no real cons of note. I honestly have yet to find a fault or anything negative. However, recently there have been more and more price hikes, and then this year with very little notice (2 months), decided to remove the very basic functionality of manually entered payrolls. For some users they have an option of changing their payroll provider to one which integrates with their platform, which is awkward mid-year, and incurs additional costs. In other cases, users are in a region where there is no partner payroll provider available! On top of this, \_another\_ price hike has been announced for the coming months. So in the end, they are raising prices while removing functionality and inconveniencing customers that have been with them for many years. Given the choice between changing accounting platforms or payroll providers, we are looking at getting off Xero, given their increasingly customer-unfriendly practices recently. Pros Xero had been a good, simple platform for our small business for many years, covering our needs at a reasonable cost. Cons In the past few months removed functionality that we and many other users rely on, while at the same time having raised prices with another increase occurring in another few months. Pros The option to tailor the system exactly to the needs of our team, the clear and well laid out user interface and the direct connection with the bank accounts, making reconciliations quick and easy. Minimal training was required to get people to the standard needed for basic day to day tasks. Cons Nothing to note! The payroll and inventory are basic, customization is limited. Its a cloud based software so multiple users can yse at a same time. I would suggest it to others, especially if they are looking for an alternative to the overpriced Quickbooks. Pros If you already understand accounting programs like Quickbooks, it is relatively easy to transfer to Xero. I enjoy the ease of use and reports which are customizable for specific needs. Setting up contacts, products and services and the chart of accounts is easy too. The import and export feature works nicely too if you are setting up a new account or moving data from one file to another. I also like that the price is less and more reasonable than Quickbooks. Cons I wish Invoice, Quote and PO templates were easier to customize. I wish I could send attachments with POs. We need to send art files with our POs. I wish the APPROVE button was at the TOP of the POs like it is in invoices. I keep sending POs that say DRAFT because the APPROVE button is at the bottom. We didn't require much functionality as our needs are very basic. Pros Very easy to set up when we needed to pay our staff. We were a small company, but as soon as we took employees on board, we needed a paywall that would be straightforward to configure. Cons We didn't immediately get clarity on the situation regarding pensions, but that is fortunately now cleared up. Pros \- Automation of finance tasks: Easy to set up Bank feeds; Easy to send out invoices; Easy to complete reconciliations such as stripe/other payment gateways using automated matching software which frees up a lot of time. Cons \- Reporting and workflows aren’t very flexible like some other larger ERP systems, which can be frustrating especially as our company grew in size and required more advanced and granular reporting. The dashboard is very intuitive and I have never have any issues. Pros I use it from a payroll perspective but I know it has lost of other functionality. It is very easy to use from adding employee data to running reports. Cons I think the holiday tool could be better. It isn't easy to calculate holiday in the same way as HR software. Cons Value for money is not there there are free apps, that anyone who is organized at a 4 on a scale of 1-10 can use. We use Xero for our payment, expenses and invoicing and it’s fantastic at what it does - very easy to use. Cons Not much I can think of. Maybe when approving expenses it would be good if you could select all for easier approval - or if it could provide reporting on pay and expenses that would also be good. Just being able to click and submit on rti submissions is great. Invoices and accounts generally decent. Pros Easy to use, well set out and organised, payroll is mostly smooth, invoicing and payment processing is straightforward and easy. Cons Some aspects of payroll aren't equipped for specialist HR requirements. Movement between members of staff in the payroll list can be confusing as it removes them from the list when clicked on the staff member. End of Year requirements are persistent even when all completed. Can be quite expensive compared to other software products. But you need to remember it is taking a lot of left work out of the usual admin which is still a saving. It is reliable, easy to use, and is one program we don't have to worry about having issues with. Pros Xero is a great piece of kit, we use it for payroll general accounting and tracking and paying bills, it also is integrated with our retail and inventory system. One of the best things about Xero is how much software will connect/integrate to it. Cons Xero's default inventory component is not really usable for a business with stock, inbound and outbound inventory. If that is part of your use case I would recommend finding another piece of software to integrate with xero. You would think this would be a simple fix that would significantly increase the penetration of the product as its the way forward. Pros Good for small businesses. Simple to use any can be used on any device. Modern interface and great reporting. Just wish it could do a little more. Cons However, if you have to manage sales orders you need additional software as you can only raise quotes then invoices. This then creates a whole load of integration issues. The support is not there with either the other supplier who blames Xero or Xero who blame the 3rd party supplier. A minefield. Aside from the BAS limitation, it’s been a reliable and user-friendly system Pros Excellent value for money. It integrates smoothly across multiple companies, which makes financial controlling much easier. It’s very intuitive, and giving access to tax agents is simple, which makes collaboration straightforward. Cons You can’t amend BAS retrospectively. When adjustments are made in the ATO portal, they often can’t be replicated in Xero, so workarounds are needed.
