I've not experienced any issues in my day to day processing with Xero apart from a delay receiving a code on occasion. Pros It's is really easy to navigate and use. Invoicing is made simple for everyone involved in all departments involved. Cons Sometimes I need to wait for a while before my authentication code comes through, delaying my login. October 28, 2024 5.0 Overall, I wish I had changed to Xero much sooner as it saves me so much time and makes my job so much easier. The price is very affordable, it is very user friendly, and I highly recommend it. Pros After getting fed up with Quickbooks, I decided to try the Xero free trial. I love the simplicity, how it prompts me to reconcile each time I log in so month end goes so much smoother and quicker than with Quickbooks. The pricing is WAY better and I'm not getting nickel and dimed the way I was with Quickbooks. I would say it is much easier and more intuitive and makes my bookkeeping so much simpler. Cons It was a bit time consuming moving our data from Quickbooks to Xero. We paid to have the recommended service done, I think it was through Jetpack or something like that. They did a great job but there were of course some things that didn't cross over exactly right so going through and finding those issues was a little time consuming, but once that was settled I'm very happy I made the move. Pros It is simple to use and has all the core functionality that you need. Cons We are expanding globally, and Xero does not deal well with that. We have had to licence localised versions of Xero that we need to then manually consolidate. Love the ability to give my bookkeeper and accountants access. Pros It has an easy to use interface. It is really easy to reconcile. Adding employee information is simple. Cons The numbers of users triggering a different payment amount is not the best for a small business. It would be great to have more levels in between the current options. The payroll setup is quick, and fields are basic and easy. The interface is easy to navigate. Pros Really easy, intuitive software, that a non-accountant can use. And can sync to other software systems such as Project Management Software. Cons Not as cost competitive as some other similar software. Can have integration issues with other software systems. Moving to Xero has revolutionised the finance management in our business. Pros There are so many incredible features from the short term cash summary, we import our budget into Xero and then monitor it on a monthly basis with the budget variance tool being incredible. We create all POs in Xero so that everyone in the business spending money ensures that finance are aware. Then we send out quotes for existing customers via Xero quoting too. Cons The reporting imo is limited. I would love to have more SAS focused reporting where I can look at my invoices and track what is MRR, what is expansion revenue and then create reports to track them - rather than having to use other software to do this. Even for non-finance people it's an intuitive platform to understand. Pros It just works as a platform, simple to integrate into almost any tool Cons The fact it links into so many platforms can make troubleshooting more cumbersome depending on your set up. You can end up checking a lot of different places to solve invoicing issues. It is a very flexible tool, especially for startups. You can set up a company in minutes if you know what you are doing. A nice tool overall, up to a mid sized company. Pros Easy to use, company set up is fast, can be used in many different countries, flexible, good for startups in their earliest days. Very flexible chart of accounts allows you to make any kind of setup you like. Cons Regionalization for some countries with complex VAT is not great (Portugal, Serbia). Sometimes it is hard to reconcile invoices with bank statements. So I don't have much direct experience as for the last year I did not have much activity in my business. Cons I dont like that bank statements cannot be automatically be synched every month.
