### "Customer Service"

April 17, 2019

5.0

Our practice has benefited from using the Messenger product. We use it to primarily do text appointment confirmations, and wellness reminders monthly. During influenza season sending out a blast to parents via text message to get flu shots helps tremendously! User friendly, up to date dashboards for MIPS, MACRA, billing is awesome and new features for the EMR side are always coming through. I find it a great product for doctor offices!

Pros

Ease of use and intuitive. The company always listens to the users for suggestions and problems. Customer support is great. I like how they follow up within 24 to 48 hours of a service ticket to make sure everything is functioning. I am very pleased with the customer service team because they always call me back in the same day. The chat option is great for a quick answer as well.

Cons

In the beginning the training was not what I thought. However, in the last 6 years the webinars have expanded and ease to watch and print power points as well.

### "Long time customer, pretty much done with eCW"

June 6, 2017

3.0

I have attended about 8 eCW users conferences, including the first one in Orlando. I am a superuser. Initially, I was optimistic, but over time I have seen a lot of false promises and lack of USER -driven improvements. The whole feel of eCW is that of a clunky data gatherer. It is absolutely dreadful at the point-of-care. I didn't go to med school to be a data entry clerk. The piecemeal product now. Nickel and dime every little feature/service. When will an EHR come out that makes sense at the point of care?

Pros

Customizable - but be careful - you may have to redo everything after an upgrade. Reporting features and back office 'ok'. Portal, Healow app and eclinicalmobile are decent (though erx through mobile is wonky).

Cons

Too many clicks. Too many windows. Tiny boxes. Tiny font. Poor format. Early 2000's feel and look. Upgrades often require the user to fix data (re-map, correct NDC codes, etc. etc. etc.) which is a total pain for staff and the providers. Too many ways to achieve the same thing, just causes confusion. Internal messaging a joke.

### "eClinicalWorks Review"

October 26, 2014

1.5

Pros

Read this review as a warning if you are considering eCW.

Cons

My brother asked me to step in as emergency manager of his primary care medical practice in San Francisco in 2009 (my background is tech startups). He's an internist and was salutatorian of his UCSF med school class, so he's a smart guy, even in a room full of smart guys. And he's extremely hard-working. His partner chose eClinicalWorks for their 2-doctor practice. What was their experience? First: it was extremely, and they had to make regular payments to keep using it, so when they got into financial trouble, this was one bill they had to pay, every time, because if they didn't, eCW could literally shut off the software and shut down their practice. That happened once, and then I made sure it did not happen again until we closed the doors (I was there 6 months, the last one spent actually shutting the practice down and helping my brother file Chapter 7). Second: eCW's company culture, like that of almost all software companies (again, my background is high tech) is to over-promise and under-deliver. The company has absolutely no skin in the game. They do not have to actually make their software useful to you in order to get paid, and they don't care if their system is actually helping you run your practice; they only want to get paid. Third: the software was overly complicated to use. The training was inadequate and not a priority for the vendor, and all the training was at an additional cost. This is a joke; the training should have been comprehensive, extensive, and free. I think the support staff probably needed about 3-4 times as much formal training as they received. They universally disliked the software, mainly because they felt it was overly complicated and not intuitive.

### "eClinical is best for large practices."

February 7, 2018

3.0

Pros

Full practice software for all aspects of managing a medical office and patient charting. Able to accommodate several practitioners and staff allowing for large volumes of files and database. Very straight forward practical application to use given all the functions available.

Cons

Many features were not used as it is not easily streamlined for a specialty practice. Tech support/service call response is immediate but actual support and repair was often deferred to a later time and was difficult to communicate with their staff, located overseas. Costs for eclinical is expensive.

### "Specialty in Alabama"

September 6, 2018

3.0

I have seen several comments that ecw is affordable. It is not....it's very expensive and they nickle and dime you to death. They tell you products are free and then a year later you get a huge bill for a service you were told was free. We probably pay a FTE's salary in what we pay annually for ecw.

Pros

Great product if you can actually figure out how to use without spending tons of hours and money on training. They stay on top of current issues and regulations.

Cons

We have had bugs in our system since it was built in 2012. It has never gotten better. No one speaks English as a first language EXCEPT FOR SALES DEPARTMENT, of course. Typically when we have questions or problems we let it go for as long as we can because we know how long and horrible it will be to deal with tech support.

### "Poor Service All Around"

April 16, 2021

1.0

Overpriced, non human staff, English is horrible, not reliable.

Pros

Nothing, something was always not functioning.

Cons

Very cumbersome always had new charges to integrate other equipment or software. No reliable SAM and not accountable. Offered to cancel and they kept me on for longer and now I am being charged to be released. After the retention department begged me to stay. What a very costly system especially during theses times.

### "HORRIBLE!"

May 30, 2018

1.0

None! Absolutely nothing. It's a constant frustration. Not one clinician at my agency likes it.

Pros

Nothing! It is a pain. It crashes all the time. There are so many things wrong with this product I wouldn't have enough time or space to say them all.

Cons

Poor GUI interface--it's like there was no one on the development team who knew anything about healthcare! Extremely difficult to read typeface--small, poor contrast Spell check on the online client but not on the installed client--why?

### "Labor-intensive"

December 12, 2016

2.0

I have often wondered about the popularity of ECW. After all, I think there are many better systems out there, it lacks many necessary features and it is not cheap. I believe ECW owes its success to a good sales team, and to the fact that potential users think: if it is adopted by so many users, it must be good. In big corporations, the decisions are made by administrators, not by physicians, and the former are not well attuned to the negative aspects of the software. Due to the nature of this software requiring website re-direction each time you order anything, there is a 3-4 second lag time that occurs every other click, and that adds up to a lot of wasted time at the end of the day. Windows cannot be minimized, and you cannot simply insert your cursor and start typing in a section of the chart. Therefore, if you are in the middle of writing your HPI and the patient asks you about her lab result, you have to x out of several windows, check labs and then re-open several windows, adding to as many as 13-14 clicks, and a major interruption of the workflow. The upgrade to version 10 was disastrous. Customer support is horrible. Interface with the hospital system (Cerner), with the labs and with Sure-Scripts is awful. There are many aspects that could be improved if there was any willingness on the part of their programmers to get better, but I think they take their popularity as an indication that they are doing well. The lab review process is cumbersome. When I have lab results for one patient that I want to review and post to the note, it takes me an average of 21 clicks. Rx eligibility is dysfunctional. Saving medications as favorites has not been working since the "upgrade". The conversion from ICD-9 to ICD-10 was poorly managed. Our institution uses a separate office management software, with a lot of redundancy and poor interface.

Pros

Macros and order sets. The form of the finished note looks nice.

Cons

Everything else (see above)

Pros

variety of ways to navigate and accomplish tasks. variety of features and more constantly being added to meet the changing needs of health care providers.

Cons

### "Poor customer service and tech support. They are extraordinarily slow in responding to EHR problems. After placing tickets and contacting support online no significant response from them or signs of fixing the problem."

January 10, 2018

3.0

I am posting this poor review due to a lack of response from tech and customer support. I would not recommend this EHR because of our my current issue with product and it should have been an easy fix given its been 5 months.

Pros

Reasonable ease of use for an EHR but all of EHRs still stink. More reasonable cost than most and was not dissatisfied with company until an update in August/Sept. Our particular problem has not been fixed in the last 5 months and I have not gotten any reasonable response back from the company about this issue. This particular part of the EMR was working well prior to the last update.

Cons

Poor tech and customer support. My office has sent him ticket after ticket online without any hint of trying to solve the problem. So not matter how cost effective the product may be or the ease of use if they are not going to respond efficiently and effectively to our user needs then they are not worth using.

### "eClinicalWorks"

October 19, 2018

3.0

Not my favorite, as I had a hard time performing even the simplest of tasks.

Pros

This is another EMR system we use in one of our clinics. It has all you need for a patient chart and it's not too expensive, compared to other EMRs.

Cons

It's definitely one of my least favorites, as it is clunky and not too user-friendly. I had a hard time finding certain functions, and there's a lot of clicking involved to get one chart in. Customer support isn't great and training takes forever.

### "The worse EHR in the market"

October 18, 2022

1.0

Pros

The company get paid on time ( Imen ECW). I hate to say there is not much cons about this company. I thought their ehr was easy to utilize but far fromIt. This product at once was good not anymore.

Cons

The support is all fromIndia difficult to talk to and understand. There is no time on when they will call you. When you get someone and if you understand them you will hear the following "I have to escalate the problem". The person who is assigned to our account is not even answering his calls. ECW makes updates that create more problems with no fix. There is no helpAvailable you are on your own.If you looking for ehr that will actually keep their word and give you support this is not for you. Good luck!!

### "Slow performance makes for an uncomfortable office"

February 26, 2020

4.0

I believe the price is what draws my customers to use eClinicalWorks; from experience in troubleshooting it I do not believe performance is a determining factor.

Pros

\-Very intuitive -Works well in all types of medical offices -24/7 support, which is a must for this program

Cons

\-24/7 support is outsourced, sometimes causing communication issues -I receive constant complaints that software is slow and not performing well regardless of if the end user is on a local server installation or using eCW's cloud offerings.

### "poor customer service"

January 4, 2020

2.0

VERY dissatisfied with support. Would give it 0 stars if I could

Pros

Features that are competitive. well established company.

Cons

dismal customer service. not or poor follow up. need to enter a ticket even for simple fixes that should be a phone call. Sales seem to be all US based, but customer service is overseas and VERY difficult to understand at times. A colleague has described using the software as a '12 step' program. Seems like it takes 12 steps to perform any function.

Reason for choosing eClinicalWorks

better sales department- very responsive, answered questions. If only I was aware that the support does not live up to the sales pitch.

### "eClinicalWorks Review"

January 16, 2018

4.0

eClinicalWorks is a great product but is pretty expensive so our smaller, one provider practices wouldn't be able to afford it. I know you get what you pay for, but it's unfortunate that it's so costly that a lot of providers won't even consider it for that reason.

Pros

It works great for large practices. The collection module works really well for our office, especially automatically uploading accounts to our collection agency. It has a huge amount of settings and options to chose from, which is great but can get overwhelming.

Cons

Customer service is always very prompt in their responses, but when they call it's very hard to understand them. Half the time the issue is not resolved because of communication problems.

### "eClinicalDoesn'tWork"

August 15, 2018

2.0

Overall I did not like using this system, I have had experience with Practice Fusion and Athena as EHR and would prefer them over eCW.

Pros

The progress note view makes it easy to see all applicable information.

Cons

It is suppose to be very customizable but we kept being told that we could change anything we actually wanted to change. The process to do anything is very long, you have to jump back and forth between views, and the system in general is very "buggy".

### "We switched to eCW two years ago and have never looked back, very forward thinking. "

February 14, 2018

4.0

Ease of use from clinical side, good product from Practice Management. Forward thinking with patient engagement.

Pros

Our clinicians feel that the setup is much more efficient than some of the other eHR packages we have use. I like we're they are going with the web based content and PHM. We see a lot of value in the product and feel it has been a great investment. From a financial standpoint, the monthly subscription service helps small businesses who can't afford to put up large sums of money for initial license fees.

Cons

Their report generator is a little more difficult to use than some products, or you don't have access to all fields. We utilize their Query writer often and then dump the data into Excel. Their Report Writer suite can be powerful, but requires advanced knowledge of query writing, which many small to medium sized companies likely will not have available.

### "eClinicalWorks is a wounded and dangerous dinosaur EMR "

February 27, 2021

1.0

I would STRONGLY not recommend eClinicalWorks

Pros

There is nothing I like about this software, period.

Cons

This software is written with old code, it requires way TOO many clicks to get things done, you can NOT multitask with this EHR and it forces you into small boxes that don't give you enough real estate to get work done and keeping track of medications is impossible. Our office had been using this software for a long time and we are in the process of switching to a new EMR. Do realize there is a $1 Billion dollar class action lawsuit against the company, so "caveat emptor" \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\]
