### "One of the worst EMR's"

April 27, 2017

1.0

I work within a medical group of 2-300 practitioners. I have been using the eCW for close to two years, and am having headaches everyday. Not very intuitive, and hard to navigate. Too many clicks. It can't multitask, i. e. can't open multiple windows at the same time. Have to click too many times to move to a different section, then come back to where you were previously, then end up having to go back because I forgot what I just saw(oops, that would be my fault...). I was using Allscripts before joining the current practice, and was complaining about it back then; now I would go back to Allscripts any minute. It's interesting to see how the users in the management side seem to love it, but for the practitioners like me, "Run, don't walk away from it" sums it up nicely.

Cons

Not intuitive/user friendly Doesn't multitask, can't open multiple windows at the same time, have to click too many times Slow, freezes often Has multiple glitches: particular one is with medications-when choosing a med for a diagnosis, somehow defaults to another diagnosis, so end up prescribing a med for an unrelated diagnosis; finding meds is not easy

### "Great EMR for clinic based settings loaded with features "

April 15, 2019

5.0

Overall eClinical Works does a pretty good job as a clinic based EMR. It's fairly comprehensive and once you learn it, it is very easy to fill out notes, auto populate data, code for billing and handle messaging and e-prescriptions.

Pros

I like how comprehensive the EMR is, information is fairly well laid out and it has lots of features including a messaging service where memos from patients, forms from pharmacies etc can all be accessed and responded to without having to give out the providers email address or phone number.

Cons

It can be difficult to learn at first and find all of the information it holds. Sometimes the locations of certain tabs aren't very intuitive. It's also annoying that you can't have more than one tab up at a time to look at multiple patients at once.

### "I love eClinical!"

March 6, 2019

4.0

This software has been a consistent highlight in my career in the medical field. It was the first system I ever used and the system I recommend to anyone looking for a high-quality all-encompassing EMR. This software will help you achieve the most with your medical practice.

Pros

I love the billing functions of this software. It is so easy to post ERAs and patient payments as well as investigate claims. The charting function is extremely easy to use and customize, and the appointment scheduling through this system is the best I have used so far. My favorite section of this system though is the messaging. I appreciate how easily notes, labs, messages, and all other things are labeled and assigned to people through the "jelly beans" at the top of the screen.

Cons

The thing I would say I like the least about this software would be the reports. They were not the easiest to utilize without a large amount of effort and trial and error. That being said, I was able to obtain all the information I needed to continue monitoring my practice after some time.

Our organization has 3 doctors that are primary physicians to residents in nursing home. We provide service for 9 nursing homes and continue to grow. We have 4 office staff and are all virtual. We use eClinicalWorks and Group One for billing and host through PSM. We went with eClinicalWorks because Group One billing was incorporated with them and also the hosting of the server. We did not want to have to update our own software. We are a relatively new business and did not have any software previous. We bought it in 2011 and the implementation went fine. The team did learn how to use eClinicalWorks quickly and the templates have been very useful. In regards to customer service I find that my main contact at Group One Tara Carney has been fantastic. When I have a need or issue she is right on it for me. She seems to know who to contact for me and they get back to me in a timely manner. eClinicalWorks customer service is much tougher because of the big size and it seems that 4 people contact me about something that one person could take care of. I understand that it is large and things need to go through channels so I have just accepted that I will get many phone calls and need to go through many people. I seem to go back to Tara to have her handle the situation for me and she always points me in the right direction. We are a different type of health care business and I know we have pushed a few people out of their box to get the functionality that we need to provide the best quality of care for the patient and to make it a great working environment for all. In doing so eClinicalWorks and Group One have always been receptive to growth and change to fit our needs so we can progress and that has been very much appreciated. I would have to say the Group One has been fantastic and is the main reason that we are very happy with our choice of EMR. I would like to give Renzi Russell and especially Tara Carney much of the recognition they deserve for providing excellent customer service and a fantastic knowledge of their positions. Tara has been wonderful with all she does.

### "Practical and Cumbersome"

December 6, 2019

4.0

Pros

eclinicalworks has stayed ahead of the curve in features and vision on multi-platform EMR. They've stayed adaptable to changing interoperability environment. The clinician for very competitive costs can garnish high access to medical home model and progressive kiosk and outreach modalities.

Cons

Lots of clicks, lots of bugs, have to fight to get senior resources to get things corrected. Slow QA turn around for fixes. Lacks patient portal where you can exchange files. Silo development model increasing bug potential, though they finally decades later are looking at Usability so we're hopeful.

### "My ECW Experience"

January 19, 2018

3.0

Overall I think there is some improvement that can be done, but ECW gets us through the day to day functions. The support staff could be a lot better. All in all, ECW does what we need it to do.

Pros

ECW offers a lot of features that our staff utilizes. Our staff loves the jellybean system and how it makes referral, telephone encounters, messages, etc easier to see. The resource schedules are very simple to view and utilize. Running reports in ECW is super easy.

Cons

The staff support is slow with ticket response. Even when the ticket is marked high priority, the response time takes hours sometimes. We experience a lot of slowness on a day to day basis. This is referring to the ECW product itself. Our providers have complained about being in the rooms with patients and having to stall due to system slowness.

### "Good intentions, poor execution"

July 20, 2017

2.0

Pros

They have built a lot of functionality in different spaces (online appointments, check-in kiosk, patient portal, patient messaging, etc.).

Cons

If there are more than a few sites or providers in your practice, they are likely not for you. They can't handle volume or scale, many processes are extremely manual. Their support is some of the worst I have ever experienced. Tier 1 support personnel do nothing but read from their user manuals, and escalations can take days or weeks. We had substantial problems that persisted for years that regardless of how many times we talked to eCW CEO & COO we saw no resolution. They simply couldn't handle our size (30+ clinics). It may look nice on the outside, but behind the scenes their products are a mess and unreliable.

### "I have had a love hate relationship with ECW for 10 years, I would love to change to something that would make my life easier, but also be cost effective."

January 16, 2018

3.0

Pros

I can copy over most any part of the prior note, but I can separate out most any section to bring over. Currently cheaper that several other programs.

Cons

A lot. The entire system is compartmentalized and so it the support, so often times one support area will do something that has adverse affects on other things. The system does not make it easier to function, way too many clicks, its unstable and will freeze up or require a reboot. They nickel and dime you with very high prices for adding interfaces, adding documents, and the program does not work well on an iPad. They have good videos for starting out, or adding new people, but nothing when it comes to advanced or indepth education or training or best practice setups or ways to make things flow easier.

### "eCW for small practices"

April 7, 2019

5.0

As noted above

Pros

It is one of the preferred EMRs for large hospitals, so if you are trying to get into their IPA, it helps to use it

Cons

Customer service is all outsourced. If you are brand new to this EMR, you pay for a trainer, only to find out months later, that they really did not know what they were talking about. So you wind up having to put in tickets for every problem. People call you back at random times, interupting clinic constantly, and the worse thing is that they do not speak English. They are often impossible to understand, and most of the time, end up telling you that you need another team for that. You schedule a call with that other team, and they do not know either. I have given up on quite a few things because it is just not worth the time. Bottom line is, after you sign their contract, you will never speak to someone who can speak English again!

### "Effective & Useful"

September 4, 2021

3.0

Pros

A great system that allows users to scan and organize important documents under multiple files and tabs under every patient. Easy to navigate. I like to think of it as an all-in-one as it has so many wonderful features that are crucial in the medical management.

Cons

Occasionally crashes or has some more of issue, however it is nothing major that is not easily fixed on its own or by customer support.

### "Need extra employees to use this system"

July 10, 2018

DO NOT GO WITH THIS!!!!

Pros

That is is cheap and you get what you pay for. I do like some of the billing features. Not many other pros

Cons

1\. had to hire staff for all the errors eclinical has. they do not have a support. when an issue comes up you have to leave a ticket, they call u 1 hour later and then your staff have to uses their time and their computer to be walked thru how to fix it. meaning each issue takes 2-3 hours of your staff time. nothing is simple. 2. we finished and went live on may 14 2018. NOTHING WAS LIVE!! 2 months later we still cannot get electronic prescriptions done. Non of my old emr imported, Non of the referring providers were in for 2 weeks. Try running a business with patients and no staff because your staff are on the phone with support. 3 their 5 days of trainer on site is a joke. That was an extra member who was on the phone the entire time fixing implementation issues. NO ONE GOT TRAINED> NOTHING WAS READY. oh and by the way i signed up in jan 2018 so i gave them 5 months to get all data and this together.......

### "inconsistently unreliable"

May 28, 2018

1.0

Pros

the finished notes do look pretty, with data on the left hand margin, instead of a 7 page note ; but you better make sure the PCP or referring doctor is listed and "known" to the circle of care, or that also has to be manually entered

Cons

once again, I dictate, and it transcribes, and then I try to "scribe" it into a progress note, and it say "the request has times out"; this used to happen a lot, it went away, and now it is back; I have to manually type every note as of this moment. I end every note with the disclaimer that I would not recommend this product. I also thought I figured out how to cut and paste data from one part of my note to another, but that failed. Typing in a diagnosis under assessments is a joke, it will either not offer the correct diagnosis or only offer an unrelated diagnosis - so under PMH I have to manually type a correct/ exact diagnosis

### "eClinical is the most difficult program and company to work with. "

July 12, 2018

1.0

Pros

I literally have nothing I like about this product. I have yet to have 1 good experience with the software or the people for support.

Cons

It takes multiple steps and clicks to do any simple task, the way everything works is backwards and makes no sense so it is difficult to train anyone on. If you need support, good luck... you have to put in a ticket and wait, wait, wait for someone to call you and tell you they can't help its a glitch in the system get the new upgrade, so you do which comes with a whole new set of problems that no one can help with because its a glitch in the system and we have to wait for a new version to be available to download. I could go on and on, but I sure you get the picture.

### "Plethora of Tools "

March 25, 2024

5.0

Does everything I need it to and more. I like the display and have no issues after using the system for a few months.

Pros

Plenty of tools for every function needed on clients’ medical charts. Ease of intaking medical information and display is busy but logical with placement of buttons.

Cons

Sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming when learning the system at first glance. Booking patients at certain time slots is not always the easiest to decipher.

### "Bad service"

September 20, 2018

1.0

Fed up with this company. Moving on.

Pros

Started with this company because of the reasonable cost and promising future. But they only grew worse as they get bigger not better. They recently settled on a law suit (you need to look it up yourself because you would not believe me as this is just a random online review). Do your due diligence and you will find out that this is not the company for you.

Cons

Bad support direct from India. A third of the time you can't understanding what they are saying. Another third they are trying to impress you with their "technical jargon" which is complete gibberish BS. The last third you are on hold while they find someone else who might be able to fix the problem.

### "The Cheap Solution "

October 8, 2019

2.0

I have worked with eCW for a while now, and have been extremely disappointed. They require tons of extra money for basic functionality such as reporting, and it's just not worth it.

Pros

eCW does what it should do, for the most part. As a community Health Center, it is cheap for an EHR, and for that reason, many people have chosen it as a solution. It allows us to schedule doctor's visits, and runs relatively well with multiple users.

Cons

It is a very quirky software. Once something is added (like a certain visit type) it can not be removed, making the reporting on the back end horrendous. The database structure is horrible and makes what should be easy reporting very difficult. The OB database is not connected to the patient portal, so you have to open up a different window when caring for them.

### "Best system to use for billing I've come across so far."

February 28, 2018

Pros

Easy to use and understand. Easy to maneuver between claims and patient accounts. Easy to manage multiple active accounts.

Cons

The ease it is to delete anything in the system. Not being able to see who changed what in the system just the user who created it.

### "worst emr I have ever used"

August 11, 2016

1.0

I worked for a teaching clinic that came on board in 2011 with ecw. Horrible program, freezes, have to click in and out of multiple boxes, up to 80 clicks to finish a consult note, submit the bill, and delegate the note to the referring physician. Supposed to be okay for small practices, but awful for a teaching clinic with new learners coming in every month. In the system I had to use, you couldn't change the font size, which was tiny (font 9). So glad I am in a new job and get to use EPIC.

Pros

nothing

Cons

Very time consuming to prepare a high quality note. Have to open and close text boxes for everything, so too many clicks. Can't just start a new note and click in what you want. Can't create your own user lists, which are helpful for keeping track of certain populations.

### "A best RCM software to process day to day acticity"

April 13, 2019

4.0

It is an all in one platform to perform the day to day RCM functions. Be it scheduling of a visit or to follow-up on the outstanding AR all can be performed at one place. The inbuilt EMR feature is another advantage of this software.

Pros

eCW is one of our best choices to process the day to day RCM activities. Right from the scheduling of a visit till the follow-up on outstanding balance, all can be performed on a single platform.

Cons

eCW is available to use by installing on PC or using though a web browser. The features and functionalities that are available are good. Rare instances of slow performance on both the usage modes is the only problem we have come across.

### "Poorly developed product, poor support, nothing good to say"

September 10, 2018

1.0

NOTHING !!!!! RUN LIKE HELL AS FAST AS YOU CAN IN ANOTHER DIRECTION.

Pros

The idea of web visits. Although it took several weeks and several support members to get it working.

Cons

the program was so compartmentalized...each individual only knew about their part. One would spend weeks troubleshoot an error to find out that another had not turned on the feature. The system is too complicated for those that programmed their parts! I then after approximately one year decided to transition to a more user friendly emr...this process was just as problematic. They sent a disc that was not in the format needed and then refused to change it and refused to allow the new emr company to access the emr. We were told to download it in the format ourselves...when we tried, we had been disabled from doing so. We called to gain access from the project manager...again on hold for 45 minutes. Still waiting for a call back. Note that they are expecting pay for this 5th world emr while we transition. These people have unfair business practices and have been fined and sued repeatedly by the Department of Justice. Now I'm being held hostage paying for a suboptimal emr that has done nothing but caused me grief.
