### "Beware you are giving up some of your credit card protections"

As it relates to defending us for chargebacks, terrible. We had videos, witnesses and phone numbers of an individual that came to our store and purchased some furniture. After he left, he challenged the charge. Instead of Lightspeed hearing our evidence or the facts, they charged us back. We were left without the furniture, without the money and without any ability to challenge their conclusion. And Lightspeed refused to provide us the information we needed to have the police pursue the theft charge. Further damaging us.

Pros

It is easy to use and works well for a web based system.

Cons

A couple of things: 1. Lack of responsiveness from the company after you purchase it. 2. Beware that you are giving up rights when you use them to process their credit card payments. You are normally provided "appeal rights" for issues related to chargebacks from all credit card companies. Lightspeed has given those rights up for you so you are limited on appealing any chargebacks.

Pros

3rd Party integrations, 1st party ecom integrations, Cayan payment integration, and the robust special order system that is rooted in the entire platform. These are the big ones but there is many more small things.

Cons

No POS is perfect so there are definitely things that could be fixed. I would say being able to redeem gift cards online is a big one. They know this though and are working on it. Also, being able to see Matrix inventory in regular retail vs just in Analytics but again very small things.

### "Simply the best for multi stores"

The best. Customer service is amazing. Have not had to call them in years over an issue, yet they do reach out to me to ask for any suggestions on improving their system.

Pros

LS is the best POS I have used for multi store operation. In the last eight years I have broken Bindo, NCR and Quickbooks. None of them could accurately track inventory transfers. Sometimes they would not populate or would just add ghost products and our inventory was a disaster. I would spend hours trying to get it straight. Trying to place PO's when you cannot trust your inventory counts is unacceptable. I have used LS the last four years and have never had an issue with multi store PO's or transfers and I execute an average of 15 per week with multiple vendors. The hours saved is well worth the few extra dollars. Like and believe in LS so much I invested in their stock.

### "More than a POS"

Pros

I really like how they are always integrating with new products and brands. Just like us, staying up to date with other companies. Their customer service is unmatched. They are always willing to work with you. When covid hit things were slow and they called me with a solution to a lot of things that would drive people to my online store. They are more than a POS.

Cons

I wish their prices were a little lower since we are a small company but regardless, I will continue using them because of their customer service.

### "Scam Company"

Terrible company does not stand behind their contracts, withholds information, and will not help you when there is a problem

Pros

Being able to track inventory and sales tax reports

Cons

They put us under a 12-month contract at one rate, 4 months later they doubled the rate with zero explanation. When I asked to cancel because I do not feel $200.00 a month is reasonable and not what I agreed to, they told me they would not break the contract until the 12 months was up. They also informed me AFTER that you better keep all original boxes your equipment comes in, or you will be charged for that too. This garbage company took down reviews on Google and Facebook. I highly recommend you look at the comments before proceeding with this company.

### "A major detriment to our stores function."

I wish I didn't buy all the hardware because I have come to hate Lightspeed. Don't expect help getting set up and really long hold time, and useless AI chat it's more like artificial stupidity.

Pros

I'm so angry and annoyed at speed right now that I have nothing positive to say.

Cons

Lightspeed has been high maintenance and extremely picky to set up our account and completely useless in making things function on their end.

### "All in one system"

Very satisfied so far. system is great and full of features. great quick customer service + support.

Pros

From first time I have spoken with someone from Lightspeed, I enjoyed the explanation of having everything in 1 place. My issue before switching to Lightspeed with physical store and ecom was 2 seperate inventories, manual puchase orders, reports had to be combined, complicated for the bookeeper to do my papers, so on and so forth. Now, I dont have to look at the inventory physically to place orders with my vendors as I see it all through system. I also dont worry much about people purchasing in store and someone buy online at same time, which inventory their is much less mistakes. Whenever I had difficulty, I had response right away in the same day. Most my issues got fixed. no wait, only satisfactory. The price scared me to change as it was more expensive then my previous or other companies i was looking at. But, i dont regret it as the sytem is really complete, offers it all for Pḧysical and ecom store. + service is number 1.

Cons

I have had difficulty with the translations as its not always clear where to change or how to do it. After a support call, its better because now I know how system works as well as going through all the webinars. But I find this part can be muhc simpler.

### "Very Intuitive POS"

Pros

We've been using Lightspeed Retail for close to a year now and have been very happy. My biggest compliment is how user friendly the entire platform is. The system is very intuitive which saves me hours when training a new employee. Any computer-literate person can jump in and figure out the essentials on their own in a matter of minutes. I'm still learning the ins and outs of some of the more advanced settings/reports, but if they're anything like the features I use daily, I suspect I'll be happy with those too. I've had to call customer support several times over the last year, and each time has been a pleasant experience. Most recently, I was on hold, waiting for a representative to pick up. After about 30 seconds, I was offered to have them call me back once one became available. It worked well because I could go back to working on other things. About 20 minutes later, I got the call, the rep immediately fixed one of my issues, then said he'd have our account manager call back to help with my other question (he wasn't able to make the changes I was requesting). Our account manager called back later that day, and after doing some research, got us exactly what we were hoping for. I can understand people's dissatisfaction with being on hold or waiting for someone to call you back. If it's an urgent issue, that would be very frustrating. Maybe we've been lucky, but none of the issues I've had to call about have been time sensitive so it worked really well having them call me back instead of being stuck on the phone waiting for someone to pick up. All in all, we've be very satisfied with their service. Hopefully things continue to improve!

Cons

Honestly, I have very little complaints. Maybe have more support reps so there's no hold time? But I realize adding the extra staff would get expensive quick.

### "Lightspeed POS Review"

Pros

When their servers go down you're screwed - No backup / offline mode! You're unable to access the POS or any of your inventory.

Cons

Their servers go down sometimes which makes the POS unusable. This happens a few times a month at least. They say that their uptime is 99% or something like that but that 1% of down time is very damaging when there are lines of people waiting to check out. You cannot backup anything offline, they don't have an offline mode, so when their servers go down, you cant access any of your inventory or run transactions. It's all stored on their end which is extremely inconvenient. You can download all of your inventory into a XLS file so that when you stop using lightspeed you don't loose absolutely everything. It's also a browser based POS which means there is a lag when moving between screens and checking people out. It's only as fast as the internet that you have. The old POS that we had didn't use the internet and was installed on the PC, so we didn't have any issues with down time and were in control of all of our customer files, and invintory.

Pros

Honestly, although I used this product for 4 years, I realize I could have found a more economical program that does everything I need without additional fees. I have no pros at this juncture.

Cons

Small business owners beware. If you hit a financial brick wall and have to close your business, they DO NOT HAVE A CANCELLATION CLAUSE. They will go after you for the full amount of the remaining contract. You are paying for a POS and they charge extra for a website. You can combine both for way cheaper with Square or Shopify, for example.

Lightspeed has been an overall great experience.

Pros

We use this to manage cross channel inventory with our warehouse and ecommerce site.

Cons

It does not have a direct integration with WooCommerce leading to the purchase of more software for the integration and another third party system. Also you can not send direct invoices with a link for payment processing.

We have been using this platform for 18 months, so I waited a while to do the review. This system is very powerful, and really was the only system that checked all the boxes for us. We probably demoed 10 systems after going through an initial screening of other cloud based POS systems. We have recently added the analytics plug which is really next level. I will say the reporting that was included is par for most POS systems but did leave a lot to be desired. Now with the addition of the plug its mind blowing! Set up team was great as well, very helpful. We have not taken advantage of the integrated web hosting, but only because we are so entrenched and we are not ready to take on that task.

Cloud based, tons of functionality, add ed the Analytics platform takes it to the next level. easy work flows

Cons

Its always a little challenging to implement a new software after years of work on other platform, however once all the nuances were mastered...works great

We can easily enter in purchase orders, check a wide variety of reports in real time, and integrate our store inventory with our website instantaneously. Pros

Great inventory control for single or multi location retailers Excellent and easy to use Point of Sale System Very flexible so that you can fit it into a variety of work processes Excellent support via chat, screen share and phone Syncs with QuickBooks and othe popular accounting software with their Lightspeed Accounting package Report data can be viewed on screen or exported for more detailed analysis.

Cons

Limited user permissions give individual users too much power (they can export data without any way to turn it off). For example you cannot prevent staff from exporting your customer database without turning off their access to look up and add customers to sales, which is a must to really use Lightspeed to its full. This is really a major glaring hole and one they are aware of, but are not in a hurry to fix. We have been using them for 2 years and complaining about this for two years with no resolve or attempted resolve yet. Other than this we really like them, but this is a very large pain point for us and other customers.

Generally positive, a much nicer POS than anything we've tried in the cycling industry.

Pros

Very simple to use. Keyboard shortcuts make this web-based POS very simple and quick to use. Ordering and inventory system is great and the integration with multiple vendors makes import or exporting sales orders a breeze.

Cons

We would always have problems with the software defaulting to the wrong retail location since we have employees work multiple locations. Setting the default location in a cookie or something would be very helpful.

A former client of mine called and asked if I wanted to help implement a new cloud-based Retail system called Lightspeed. I thought to myself that "new" and "cloud-based" meant "limited functionality" and "slow-response". Boy, was I wrong - Lightspeed is Light-Years ahead of where I thought it would be! The Business functionality is superb. It covers a wide-range of business types and has many options. It is even "expandable" when it comes to storing extra data which pertains just to your business. It is simple for the small user and powerful for a large company. The "Service before the Sale" is GREAT! They guide you through just what you need. The "Ongoing Support" is a breath of fresh air! Each of my "logged cases" has been addressed in a timely manner (typically on the same call) and the answers were spot on. I've also found that the technology the system is based on is sound, secure and dependable. As a 42+ year veteran of the computing industry, I can say that Lightspeed "got it right" "right out of the stargate"... I am sold on Lightspeed! So much so that it is now a mainstay in my recommendations to clients who are seeking to "improve operations and automate processes". Respectfully, Mark, Owner of Central Operations (We run your computer systems for you so you can run your business!)

Cons

The expression of "having all your eggs in one basket" comes to mind. You must properly design your network so you have a fallback option (such as a cellular data connection) in case of network outages.

### "No tip option on Retail platform"

It is extremely shady for a business to explicitly say that you can try a product before committing, only to then refuse a refund when you try & dislike the product. We set up the system as soon as we received the point of sale and could tell right away that it is severely lacking. Customer service said we should have done more research before buying the product, but we couldn't even try the product before buying it. We thought they were a respectable company that wouldn't lie about a free trial period, but we were proven wrong.

Pros

I purchased the software to help with inventory. I like that they connect to different vendors of mine.

Cons

I am extremely displeased with both the customer service and the lack of a tip option for the retail platform. As a service oriented non-restaurant, we were pigeon-holed into the retail POS, however, this does not include a function for tips. As we are a service business, tips make up a large share of our income. Lightspeed only offers tips for its restaurant platform. After trying the system for one day, I called to cancel our account as we cannot function without tips. I was told that they do not do refunds (despite saying earlier that there was a free trial period).

### "Do not waste your time and money."

Pros

Front end looks pretty. Sales team is helpful in getting you signed up. Lots of deals to entice you to sign up for that year long package. It does actually link your inventory when everything is working properly.

Cons

Support. There is none. Sure they have live chat, a call system that will call you back so you don't have to wait on hold, and email help. But the majority of the time no one can actually help you solve your issue. A lot of "we're looking into that" and "I'll let our tech team know" or "browser was your customer using when they were unable to checkout?". Support is terrible. Cart overselling. Not one, not twice, but 3x cart oversold in the first 7 months of using this POS with web store. They can't tell you why, or fix it, or offer any help. They will ask you what browser your customers were using though. Orders not downloading from web store so you are actually aware that there is an order waiting to be shipped, as well as the inventory not updating. Very small maximum # of characters in product descriptions that can display on web store. Hopefully your product photos speak for themselves because no room for in depth explanations, videos, etc. Email response time. Generally about 3 days. Seriously. The ridiculous amount of time it took to get the web store to go live and then the week I spent on the phone/live chat/email with support to try and correct issues to that people could actually check out. The fact that you can't do the same things on the iPad app POS that you can if you're running the POS through your laptop. I can't discount a single product in the app, and discount applies to every product in the sale. Not annoying at all. Limited customization of web store.

When Brompton Bicycle was looking for a POS system, we needed something with robust features, simple employee interface, powerful management/analytics tools, and a global presence to support our growing international network. Lightspeed was the ideal choice as they offer a retail centric platform that makes selling easy for staff and provide powerful analytics, accounting, and payment extensions that make the remote management of multi locations much easier. We especially enjoy the vendor integrations within the cycling industry as well as bicycle service modules which are non-existant in other POS offerings. We also heavily utilize the automated reporting functions through Lightspeed Analytics. Combine all that with a cloud/app based interface and you get a system that can be up and running in a matter of days for a very easy to swallow price tag. When you need support - you have a dedicated account manager and responsive tech team ready to make it happen. I'd recommend Lightspeed over any other POS solution for cycling retail.

Customer service was so helpful and quick to respond. We have enjoyed lightspeed for over a year now and I still learning new reports that are helpful in running by business. Reaching our customers on a personal level has never been easier. We are able to see their spending patterns and reach out to those we are in danger of losing.

Pros

I love how easily I can track inventory, sales, and customer data in real time. So much information that we never had access to before.

Cons

The transition from old software to this new one was difficult in the beginning but now I can’t imagine ever going back to the old way of doing things.

We are a small retail store that is able to track customers, sales, inventory & profit with ease. And good reliable customer service is imperative with a POS system and Lightspeeds is pretty perfect.

Pros

It is compatible with Macs and thus user intuitive if there are problems their customer service is there to catch you with kind prompt service. The reports with Lightspeed Retail have helped us make changes that have improved our small Brick and Morter retail store.

Cons

It is expensive and a big financial commitment and yet worth it.
