We've really enjoyed the new system and been very happy with its ease of use and reporting, allowing for me to have a better understanding of the business and how its running and how to improve it.

Pros

I came from an older POS system, but in comparison to that, the ability to create and edit products, search and categorize products and general ease of use has been stellar. My staff picked up on it very quickly with no issues at all. The help in transferring over and importing our inventory was smooth and easy. The reporting is also a huge improvement over my previous system.

Cons

There are a few quirkly little things that could be better in the search system as well as in creating products. But they are all small items that would mainly just make it better, not so much as a fault.

Cons

Cost per inventory is averaged rather than FIFO. Makes your total inventory cost fluctuate from month to month.

Pros

The software was very easy to use and setup. Extremely user friendly. Our company has used several POS softwares and this transition to LightSpeed was the easiest by a long shot.

Cons

I wish the manufacturer sku could be seen within the Puchase Order without having to click into the actual item.

Pros

We bought Lightspeed Retail for our shop and bar in London in March. On the surface it all looked perfect for what we needed. Four months on and I'm still undecided as it's still not properly set up yet.

Cons

The biggest issue that I have come across so far (and everybody in my opinion should be aware of this before purchasing the wireless printer) is that you have to have the print receipt function on if you want the cash drawer to automatically open after each sale. If you have the 'print receipt' function switched to off then the iPad won't talk to the printer, which won't talk to the cash drawer. When I asked the support, whether there was a way round this she told me if I don't want to print receipts then I have to open the drawer manually with the key. I just find this incredible! Not only is it a massive waste of paper to have the print feature on all the time, but its a massive security issue for me to have the keys dangling in the drawer all the time. To me it appears that the star printers are out to make a tidy buck on the till rolls, because I cannot believe that there is not the technology to bypass the the print receipt feature and get the printer talking to the cash drawer without printing the receipt

Pros

Has most of the functions that we need - reporting, employees for sales, deep & custom inventory, clock in/out. Ability to login on any device with internet connection.

Cons

How to create and add inventory is tedious. Certain reports are behind a pay wall (Analytics - which in itself is great. But there are aspects of it that should be in Retail in my opinion). Doesn't auto lock after sale/receipt prints. Which causes the 2 registers to glitch between the to computers which in turn messes up our till if isn't not caught before each sale.

Overall, it has been a great experience. Set up was a bit of a challenge initially.

Pros

This software makes customer facing sales a breeze! Love how quickly we can process orders. Once we also integrated with Accumula, we were finally able to have Lightspeed integrate with our Quickbooks accounting system as well as our Shopify website. It has saved us a ton of time

Cons

I would love it if we could completely move to a full accounting software with Lightspeed that operates like Quickbooks. We cannot pay bills against inventory in our current configuration.

I am still in the onboarding phase of using Lightspeed Retail. Their onboarding staff is helpful, organized, and sensible. I have spent a long time researching 12 different platforms before deciding with multichannel platform to move my electronics business to. There are no perfect solutions, but Lightspeed has shown a willingness to carry me along at my speed, not theirs. I was a user of Lightspeed OnSite for, I think, 12 years before this. Back then I took a chance on a little known company with questionable financing for my most critical business system. Not only did they survive and grow, but they learned and are still learning today. And they are a much more credible competitor in a dynamic business segment. I highly recommend them.

Pros

It is open ended and makes integrating with the best of breed add-ons easy. they also bent over backwards migrating my existing data to this software.

Cons

It would have been nice if they had an option to remain live if access to the server was down during business hours.

Pros

Lightspeed is easy to use, doesn't require a lot of training. Any problems we have encountered have been resolved with future updates and their support team have been a phone call away. It's nice to see they are always looking to better their product.

Cons

We have encountered a few problems, mainly with gift card sales and use. these problems seem to get resolved over time with updates.

Very organized client list invoice you can send by email rapport you can do a report by cathegorie and personalize it you always have Proffessional people on the phone international and 24/7 for me this is gold specially when you start

Layaway little and sale many because I was used to my old Pos but they always explaine if there is a problem

Pros

Lightspeed Support, Customer Rep, Customer Support, Lightspeed Retail is extremely easy to use.

Cons

Ecom is a little more difficult to use but once you figure it out it is great.

I like most everything - it’s pretty easy to use.

Cons

The BIGGEST negative with this software is there isn’t any registry capabilities! How can you have a POS system for retail without being able to offer customers a bridal registry? Thousands of dollars are being lost every year because of this. If I had any say about it, I would use a different software all because of this.

In a sea of POS/Retail Software, it's extremely hard to weed out the good from the bad. After months of research I was confident in choosing Lightspeed for our company. The ease of the retail software and training for sale associates on using the software was the best quality. You don't have to be a computer genius to use this software and even if you are it stands up to that as well. The amount of features the software has is amazing. Being able to track sales and discounts, from customer purchases, the list is long is it's great features, plus the ease and integration for having an online web store.

Pros

Tracking inventory, sales, being able to track employee performances. Integrated credit card terminal and shipping software with eCommerce. Easy purchase order creation, being able to do so many different reports as well as creating them for each store and even broken down by register as well. A great customer service company. The customer service is very helpful and will walk you through any problem or situation.

Cons

There's only a couple, but most people don't mind yet I'm a little extra computer savvy so I don't like that I can not do our own inventory uploads. Also not being able to upload different pricing levels, and wish there was a way to add notes to inventory adjustments as well as download all the created variables for all customer data.

Pros

This retail system does it all! It has been a wonderful experience from the start. The inventory tracking, the invoicing, Quickbooks integration, time clock, rewards program, and the list goes on of all the awesome features! The customer service is top notch, they are always able to help if you have a question or an issue to resolve (which there are not a lot of issues!!). Highly recommend this!

Cons

The credit card machine sometimes needs to be reset.

Consistent daily use that for software is close to flawless.

Pros

It is simple to use and simple to teach. I have had zero problems teaching new employees on how to use the system in a very short time. That pays for itself.

Cons

Separating boxed items seems unnecessarily too complicated. It probably is just me and might be a phone call away, but I just can't seem to get this step correct.

Pros

Robust inventory reporting and capabilities, easy multi-store transfers and inventory support, accurate inventory recording, easy product building with matrices, and a nice UX for POS sales.

Cons

Can be somewhat buggy on the POS side. Requires multiple log-ins at times to get to sales screen. Has issues with designating employees to stores and can sometimes assign an employee to a different store than where they physically are, which causes huge issues.

Customer support is great! They go above and beyond to try and help with any issues. I am super glad that in my search for a POS system that I chose Lightspeed!

Pros

Variety of different aspects pertaining to the needs of my business: POS, reports, inventory management and control, being able to print labels, being able to track all of my activity...

Cons

1\. I wish that I were able to customize it a little more and that what I customize would be searchable. 2. I also would like it if the ISBN numbers would show up on the screen which lists the items I have for order on a particular PO. 3. When email a purchases order it would be helpful if, on that screen from which I hit send email, it would immediately show somewhere on the screen that the order was emailed. Sometimes I get interrupted and when I come back I can't tell if I have actually hit "send email" or not. 4. An option to have a button that would pop open the register from any screen would also be helpful. I say "option" because I realize some companies would not feel safe having it be that easy to open the cash drawer. It would be helpful for us, however.

Pros

I love how easy it is to use! Training new employees has been a breeze when it comes to checking out customers and checking inventory. I love how easy it is to open and close registers, count inventory, and use our reports.

Cons

It can be slow! Often times it doesn’t compute with our other system- skyvault. Our counts can get off so fast! So I wish there was a way we could be more on track! We often times are unable to trust light speed and it’s numbers. We have had a few problems also with saving our loyalty customers.

We started using Lightspeed Retail in July of 2016. We love the fact that the POS is in the cloud. We were opening a second location so we wanted a POS that could handle more than one location. Transferring inventory from one store to the other in the system is super simple. I really like the reports. It gives me the information I need quicker than I could get it out of my old POS. It has been easy to teach our staff how to use as well, and we have a lot of part-time staff.

Pros

In the cloud, so I can access it from anywhere. Works on multiple platforms, so I can use the iPad app, or open it on a mac, or on a PC. Easy to use. Great for multiple locations. E-commerce inventory is linked to the main store's inventory. So when something sells it is immediately gone from the website.

Cons

The e-commerce platform has very limited functionality. The website I had back in 2008 had more functionality than this one does. You cannot put an item on sale. You can only use a coupon code. Customer support is very limited. While it is great for the POS side the support for the Ecom side is separate and nowhere near as good.

Pros

Is easy to use and it responds well and fast. It has great reports. For me it's a perfect solution for a small business that needs a POS

Cons

I can't really think of anything negative about this software but I do think it's not that easy to setup custom menus, but it's not that important cause it's something you rarely configure. What I would like it's that it let's you setup your own document number sequence and also more languages and better templates for documents. They are missing out on a big international market because of this, there are countries that have some regulations on the receipt number and also they need to add some specific things to their documents, required by their government.

The catalog import feature is prime

Pros

We started using lightseped nearly 4 years ago for our POS. Best decision for the business we have ever made. Everything that was giving us a headache in the past was instantly made easier. We run a bike shop called the Okoboji Expedition Company, and it was perfect. There have been a few hiccups with mac to pc quickbooks integration, but overall, we are very satisfied with how the POS has been working. They also have a lot of integrations for CC processing, and other plug ins that work seamlessly. If you're looking for a new POS system to bring you into the tech world that is now, look no further.

Cons

The only complaint we have is that sometimes there are a few issues with the server being slow and the issues with selling products without inventory. If they could just have it create a -1 inventory when we sell something that isnt in, it would cancel out when we do the PO. Maybe sometime soon

Pros

If you have a touch screen option, I found setting up the touch screen to be easy. With the current updates, you are allowed to use more colours to identify buttons. Unlike previous POS system I have used it is easy to change the order of the buttons. Once you have entered your inventory and identified it, it is fairly easy to modify the price of a single item.

Cons

Probably the worst pos system I have ever dealt with in my 20 years of customer service. It is nothing but fancy glam over garbage. If you are looking for a POS system that has easy to use pricing matrices, can handle an inventory of 1000 or more items. This is not a pos system for you. If you have a booming etsy store and want to organize your sales. This is the product for you. Lightspeed is designed for one time clients/customers, it is not designed for repeat customers. It is not designed for to handle work orders, dockets, or to help in the organization of incoming orders. This is purely designed for if the customer orders a sandwich, they receive a sandwich. I would not suggest this for any shop that has any complexities to there business(multiple billing options) or inventory (over 1000 item inventory) or pricing (quantitative pricing).
