June 19, 2014 1.0 Pros After using LS for a year and half, I'm ditching it because of all the problems I've had with this program and the lack of customer service. Cons We have been using this product for 1.5 years, and it lacks basic needs that small brick-and-mortar retail stores need, like customer rewards (you have to go through a 3rd party who charges as much for the module as it costs for LS) and detailed reports (reports are very limited and unchangeable/revisable). Support is lacking and they very rarely ever give a straight answer or interact with their own forums. And now the news is that they are moving to a cloud-based system. We purchased a five year contract for lightspeed and webstore so we could lock in a decent rate. We are less than two years into our contract. We have recently been informed that they are discontinuing the "webstore" and you have to upgrade to the new ecommerce. The new ecommerce is more expensive (now they limit the number of items you can have online at each price level) and they are asking us for another $!!! Pros Cloud based Cons They have never responded to any of the upgrade requests. Tech support is at least a 30-60 minute wait each call. The fact that it is cloud based makes it possible for me, as a small business owner to work on administrative tasks from another computer. We use lightspeed to a dedicated PC register and have no problem logging into a seperate computer for inventory management tasks such as placing POs, Checking in inventory, modifying prices, and such. I find value in the fact that an ecommerce module is readily available and all programming is user friendly. program will work (with an additional module.) TONS of free/included tech assistance. Automatically imported products via catlogs.<--- saves a ton of time! Cons We initially took interest for the ecommerce module but currently the ecommerce ability will not function with serialized items. You can easily create service orders, estimates, and invoices. The interface is pretty. Receipts look professional and contain bar codes for scanning. It just makes sense! Besides that, customer service has been delightful to work with. This is really everything we could possibly ask for in a POS company. Cons Very hard to think of a con for this product and vendor. If I HAD to pick something I would say that due to the product being internet based, at times we will have very brief outages, but this is obviously not the fault of the vendor whatsoever, just the nature of the design. January 24, 2017 1.0 The time clock does not function properly, reports are unfinished and give false data. The invoicing cannot calculate fractions of pennies and actually has a box to enter the error difference that will occur on each invoice. Because they know they can't get it right! This will cause variance in your cost of goods sold. Kiss accurate accounting goodbye and say hello to common core math if you buy this junk. I had a launch party for my store with over 175 people. I was able to check coats and ring up $2,500 worth of cash and carry business without breaking a sweat. Cons I don't like that I can't see a report of all my Special Order Business (Profit and Total Sales). What is "written" is just as important as what is actually delivered/sold.
