We are a brick and mortar Women's Boutique and Formal Wear and have been with Lightspeed for over 5 years. We thoroughly researched many POS systems, before going with our decision and couldn't be happier. The system is easy to set up and use and simple to train employees on. The customer profiles make it easy to customize shopping experiences for all of our customers and stay in contact with them.

Pros

The customer service is excellent and available 24/7, which is critical in our business. The reports Lightspeed generates helps us better gauge sales and thus make better buys more cost effectively.

Cons

None that I can think of or have seen in competitors.

### "Exceptional - It's amazing what you can do with Lightspeed Point of Sale & eCom"

Quick reliable and organized access to: sales, inventory, customer information. A software system that allows me to create POs, send them electronically to vendors, document all aspects of product ordering. A system that provides an eCommerce public facing front-end that is highly customizable.

Pros

Ease of use (given how flexible and intricate the program is). Browser based for legacy PCs - with multiple browser tabs allowed to easily switch between POS modules. iPad based app for portability to remote sales locations. Even works on smartphones for quick updates and status checks. Cloud based - therefore, access your business information anywhere you are Internet connected. Great support staff - knowledgeable, friendly and insightful. eCom module (additional fee) plugs in seamlessly allows you to sync retail SKUs so that they are public facing via your Lightspeed hosted website. Item sold on-line via eCom is immediately updated to the cloud and reflected in POS (and vice versa).

Cons

While the POS and eCom integration is wonderful, you still must manage inventory on both platforms in order to get the desired results. For example, when new inventory arrives you receive the items through your POS based purchase order. This boosts your inventory and handles new/updated cost, retail pricing, etc., and passes all of this on to eCom. However, you then need to access eCom to update public facing product narratives, SEO related fields, related products, additional category related references, etc.. So, while both programs are great and work together - it will be even better when FULL integration of the two programs is achieved.

Overall, the technical and sales support have been superb, always able and willing to help and follow-up.

Pros

Lightspeed Retail works on a variety of hardware platforms, including desktop/laptop computers, tablets, and, in a pinch, our mobile devices. It makes tracking inventory between multiple locations easy, as well as receiving and tracking orders. Most importantly, it is intuitive and easy to train staff to use, something that saves our business valuable time and focus. Great reporting that continues to get better.

Cons

I wish the eCom platform could track inventory from multiple locations and that it had seamless accounting integration (specifically with Quickbooks). But with the advances the company makes every year, I believe those may be on the horizon!

Lightspeeds customer service has been impeccable since day one. You can reach their customer service team at any time of the day, and they always follow up with a ticket to make sure the issue gets resolved. I am so happy I went with a cloud-based POS system for my retail store, and having it integrate with my online store has been a game changer. Lightspeed's inventory management is very detailed, which was an important factor when choosing a POS system because I have over 3000 skus in store. The loyalty program is very customizable and modern, and customers love that they dont have to download an app.

Pros

\-cloud based, can access it anywhere -all of my inventory and prices integrate with my online store -their loyalty program is modern and very customizable -their inventory management is detailed and able to hold a large number of skus (i have over 3000 skus)

Cons

They are still working out some technical kinks with their loyalty program. Also, since it is cloud-based, it is run in a browser, which means the speed of the program depends on the speed of your internet. The receipts are a little slow to print once I prompt them, since it is running in a browser.

Horrible. We were hounded by the sales rep to try and add ecomm for a "good deal" so we purchased a 3 year contract. My team has been trying to get a hold of someone, anyone, and there has been ZERO response for help.

Honestly, not a lot of pros. Its simple enough if you know how to dink around and look for things.

### "Buyer Beware"

Buyer beware!!! To any potential future customers, do yourself the favor and DO NOT purchase this software. My company signed up with them in May and paid up front for a years worth of service. However, in July, their software had a malfunction and reversed the authorization on our payments. I then had their collection teams and our account manager threatening us if we didn't pay again. By this time, I had time to find out that what I was told about the software was not possible, so I already had to purchase an entirely new software just to get the basic functions they promised in the beginning. I made our account manager aware that I would continue services until Jan and would pay AGAIN for their error. This turned into a huge argument with the account manager who then took it upon herself to process 2 random payments on 2 different cards. SHE DID NOT HAVE AUTHORIZATION FOR EITHER!!! Im not sure how I am supposed to feel comfortable about a company processing my payments for my customers when they cant even process their own correctly! DO NOT make the same mistake I made and sign up for this software to begin with!!!! Make sure \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] is never someone that you have to deal with!

Pros

It was a quick set up. That is the only positive thing I can say about this software and my experience with them.

Cons

The company itself is horrible. Huge waste of time and money!!

### "Horrible Customer Service"

After making our first sales we were told we would have to wait 2 weeks to get our first deposit. We understood and gave them time even though that seemed like a very long time to wait for a startup. Unfortunately we never got out money. We were not informed anything was wrong and only when we realized we should have been paid by then did we call and ask what was wrong. We did the run-around with their support team for more than a week and STILL have not gotten paid. They are very bad at response time and when you sit on the phone you can't talk to anyone except a support member who knows nothing beyond how to help with the software. Good luck getting an email to anyone in the payments office or even have anyone in the office on a random Monday because it's a "holiday"? We had to threaten twice that we would be moving companies before we got any sort of reassurance we would be helped within the next day. We have had to close our shop for a week now losing sales and making our potential investors skeptical of our business because of Lightspeed's mess up.

Pros

The System was very use friendly and I am sad to say I will have to go with another company because the customer service was so poor.

Cons

Customer service is worse than anything we have experienced with more than 20 years in running a business.

The overall experience has been excellent. I am most impressed with the support I have received from Lightspeed. Phone in wait times have been very reasonable at this point. When I have spoken to a tech they have been excellent in understanding my question and providing a solution.... at times working outside the box to create the best result with the conditions present.

Pros

The start up process was easy to follow along. Great tutorial videos and resources to answer the basic questions. Was easy to set up the codes, pricing and inventory organization.

Cons

There was some frustration using matrix's and understanding assemblies. Each business is different obviously... the use of matrix was great at the start but becomes limiting later on for integration to the webstore. Assemblies are cumbersome for automatic ordering.

### "5 1/2 years of disappointment"

For over a year I have had issues with Tip Adjustments applying to checks. Procedure is followed to the letter and the adjustments just " fall off " and some just never get charged to the customer. In short, this means the employees get their tips, the customers believe they left a tip but were not charged and the money is for lack of a better term MISSING at the end of the day for the business. HOURS have been spent trying to work with this company on this issues and the level of customer service is so sub par I was JUST told " I know you'd like a call back but we'd prefer EMAIL and will not be calling regardless of you asking for a call back. I am not a litigious person but this time around I think I am going to turn the 5 years of receipts over to my attorney and sue the pants off these clowns.

I own Furniture and Blinds in Toronto, Canada, and have been a dedicated Lightspeed user for over a decade, back when you rolled out a now very-dated version of Lightspeed for Mac only. We just recently went from OnSite to the cloud and e-commerce solutions, and I am crossing my fingers that these deliver for us as the software has done in the past! I just wanted to write to express my sincere thanks to you and the team, as well as those who provided critical support (I forget their names at the moment) last week when we orchestrated the transition. I especially appreciated my reps willingness to engage with my many different questions as I contemplated the upgrade over a period of several months starting in March, his constant support as we moved forward with the purchase more recently, and finally his critical role helping expedite the process of transition over a period of five hours last week. I must also extend my most hearty thanks to the patient support team who guided me through the process. What a professional and courteous experience throughout -- Lightspeed really does set the gold standard in this regard. It is really incredible to receive this kind of care and support, especially from a Canadian company, and I just wanted to convey my sincere gratitude to you, and the rest of the team. We will continue to support you. 6/5 stars!!!

### "Love this program, so glad I switched"

I own a small retail shop and utilize LightSpeed Retail and LightSpeed eCom. I moved from Checkout for Mac to LightSpeed when my needs required more accurate reporting and a more thorough online presence. While I felt a little pushed during initial email/phone contact, the information was complete and to the point. I had absolutely no problems with the transfer of data over and the ease in setting up new products is seamless, once the concept is explained. Their technical support team is wonderful and has always resolved any of my issues right away. I love the ease in use of the checkout. I have several seasonal employees and assuming they remember their passwords, can jump right back in where they left off, no retraining needed. My husband loves the incredible detail of the reports and the import into Quickbooks works just fine. eCom is a huge improvement over the old 'webstore' product. I set this up on my own also...just spending time in the product will take you far, then schedule your onboard training. That way you already have questions in mind and they can review what you have established. We have over 8000 sku's, LightSpeed handles it seamlessly. In the event of an minor outage, the IT team jumps to fix the issue promptly. I also added Cayan payment processing and their Genius terminal. No more double entry and payments are accurately reported. I love that this terminal communicates with the program without the use and expense of a payment bridge. They also reduce my monthly processing charges. I haven't once regretted coming onboard. LOVE IT!!!

Pros

Accurate reporting and a more thorough online presence. Ease of transfer of data over and in setting up new products Quick to respond technical support team ADDED - Cayan integrated payment processing and their Genius terminal.

Cons

No offline availability. If internet is down, you can't do anything. No automatic notice of duplicate customer names. No automatic account creation of customer names with credit card payments. Unable to add single item on multiple item sale to special order.

### "Horrible Horrible Horrible"

Horrible! I had to set it up on my own because I paid for the top option so that I would have the help with transitioning. I was given an appointment 2 weeks after I was to start using it and I would be charged again for a full month and still not be able to use the system. I didn't like that it was web based if I didn't have an iPad and I was told that using my computer was just as easy, which I disagree. I wanted to return my product which I was given a return ticket for. I returned the product in NEW condition in the same packaging that it was sent to me in. I have been reaching out to my sales rep because trying to reach anyone at the company is like pulling teeth. He takes 2-3 days to respond to me and the tells me that I would not be receiving my money back because the product is damaged. I cant get them to prove any damage and they haven't returned the product which I technically own. And now of course my sales rep Simon tells me that his manager is conveniently out of the office until next Monday and wont be able to do anything until then. I have since disputed the charges on my credit card because I feel that is the only way I'm going to recoup my money. My next step is that I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. Communication is terrible and so is customer service. DO NOT USE

We switched directly from NCR to Lightspeed. I chose Lightspeed because I called all the other small green building stores in AMerica and asked which POS they used. Lightspeed was light years above and beyond the favorite. It was an obvious choice.

### "Some odd programming choices that make things harder than they should be."

I am truly afraid to see what kind of inventory count discrepancies we'll have at the end of the year based on the way the year started with the most random and enormous cluster of import issues. The software, as a whole has some odd programming choices that I never would have thought to ask about before signing on -- because they're completely foreign to every other POS system I've used, like who would think to ask if they allow negative numbers? They're cloud-based, which is great for accessing remotely but also allows them to be constantly updating which can cause issues. I wish that they would update at specific intervals and provide customers with update logs.

Pros

Their customer support generally tries to be helpful and you can almost always reach someone. They maintain a suggestion board and try to address common issues there.

Cons

1\. Doesn't do "negative on hand" but instead auto-adds to inventory (sometimes auto-receiving from PO's) which can make actual inventory tracking a complicated nightmare. 2. Non-intuitive search which is not inclusive of all fields. 3. Inability to track total changes before finalizing inventory counts. 4. Some serious randomness in auto-combining items during initial import. This caused us HOURS and HOURS of extra labor and things are still not entirely right months later. 5. Complete inability to search custom fields. As a bookstore, we need to be able to search by author - but author is a custom field, so completely unsearchable. We ended up having to make put all our author names in the "brand" field to make them searchable. It's almost useless if the author has numerous co-authors.

My overall experience is great. I've neve experience a crash. Customer support is wonderful in helping you figure out how to do something that you might need help with within their system.

Pros

The pros, for me, is that the system was easy to get to know from day one. Lightspeed has a lot of training video and customer support to help you understand how to use the system. Everything I need to run a business/Boutique is on their platform including integrated e-comm with real time inventory status. My bookkeeping and email marketing is also integrated with the system so it's all in one place. I do one of a kind purchasing so everything is manual input but even that is a breeze once you know what to do.

Cons

I wished Facebook and Instagram had a better working platform with Lightspeed. Also, some of the work on the e-comm side is repetitive.

I wanted a system that helped me do everything I needed, all in one place. I feel Lightspeed has delivered that product.

Its like the DMV and TSA started a POS company

I wanted to share my recent experience with Lightspeed POS and their customer support

Cons

Nothing but a nightmare since we signed the contract. Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Haven’t even been able to get the POS up and running. Support is no help, and our onboarding person is non communitive. Less than a month in and we have no working POS systems. When I reached out to cancel my contract they threatened me with a $4k fine for breaking contract.

Our experience has been awful. From day one we had zero help setting up our Pos system. I’ve been waiting two months to get someone from their sales team on the phone to get new equipment. Do not use this company, it’s a nightmare. They are not good partners in helping your business grow.

Benefits were stress, headaches, lost customers, lost money, ripped off, as screwed by liars.

Pros

Easy to use IF you can get past all the problems which are nearly daily. There really are not enough pros to make it worth listing. Get away from this POS and find a different one!

Cons

I've called dozens of times to get the star receipt printer fixed and usually it's an every week thing. I had the ecom too but was not able to use it at all. You have to put every item in one at a time. I don't have time for that. They don't offer much help there. Everytime they do an update I lose data that I have added. Inventory and customers. Because this system is so dysfunctional I have also lost customers in my store. This company will cost you money and they DON'T TELL YOU UPFRONT THERE ARE NO REFUNDS ON THIS POS. I managed to get a partial refund for ecom. Salespeople are as bad as scammers. Lie, lie, lie. They said it will hook up with quick Books but it won't. You put money on this program and you will wish you didn't. The upper management even lies. I have had so many service calls to fix things I have lost count. This company should be shut down. I'm a small business that opened May 2017 I have no idea what my inventory count is because this system can't even do that. With the amount of money, this cost me I'm tempted to take them to court. I Wold win. These people are guilty of false advertisement. Find your software someplace else and don't get scammed by these liars.

You can schedule tee times on one side and then go into retail for the pro-shop so you don't have to jump systems

Cons

Slow, complex to program, not integrated with restaurant at all so you have to have separate log ins and it takes too long

### "The best POS we have had in our 91 years in business"

Our experience with several POS systems over the years indicates that it is important to understand how a proposed POS system works and what the costs are and what the assurance is that the system will work for us. Time spent in learning how well the POS matches our processes is very important. Fortunately, we took the time to go over our needs in depth with Lightspeed sales and were able to be sure the solution fit our needs before purchase. We are very happy with our Lightspeed product and service.

Pros

We have used Lightspeed Retail for about 5 years and have integrated it with their Webstore ecommerch for 2 years before changing over to Lightspeed Ecom for the past 8 months. Getting POS and integrated ecommerce to work together takes more work than most people realize, so it is important to have technical support available that is willing and competent. We have found Lightspeed to be flexible enough to work with our preferences for POS and ecommerce. And, we have had excellent experience particularly with the Ecom help and also with Lightspeed POS help.

Cons

We have found very few problems with the POS and Ecom products. There is a small rounding issue so that occasionally PO's need to be adjusted by a few cents to match an invoice amount from a supplier. We have almost always been able to get the results we need by calling tech support and telling them what we are wanting to do and getting their suggestions about possible solutions.

ITS TOO COMPLICATED, THE TIME FRAMES FOR ONLINE WEBINARS CONFLICT WITH MY SCHEDULE. THE customer service is by far the worst, they lie and lock you in a contract although you are not sure if it ideal for you business, they don't try to help resolve the issues, they avoid all calls and emails. charge for long distance calls from usa \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] is the worst!!!! im almost sure they are paid by commission so their goal is to sell not actually help you get the right product to help your business. iv lost 5k dealing with this shitty company.

Reason for choosing Lightspeed Retail

I was sold. I thought it would make my life easier for business but literally made it worst and the customer service has totally pissed me off!

### "Extremely Poor Service and Product"

I have had a really disappointing experience with Lightspeed Retail. After cancelling my account 5 months ago, they continue to deduct funds from my account despite receiving email confirmation that my account had been cancelled. There’s so many better options out there that have better features + support for a fraction of the price.

Pros

The software itself was ok, but fairly clunky to use.

Cons

The support team are very poor and extremely slow to respond and remediate issues
