### "Aging Cloud Based POS"

It is our transaction POS system.

Pros

We like that Lightspeed is cloud based. We also like that it integrates with lots of other applications (scheduling, ecomm, etc). Also Lightspeed is awesome at inventory management.

Cons

Reporting. Lightspeed Reporting is incomplete and very buggy. Yet it is over 4 years old. As a company they are expending very little resources on making reporting work better. Their answer is to try to sell you Lightspeed Analytics. An OEM version of Looker. Yet Lightspeed Analytics appears to have not been updated in over a year. It is also incomplete and buggy. Lightspeed management team, you would never accept that quality from your CRM vendor (Salesforce?). So why do you expect your customers to put up with incomplete and buggy reporting?

### "Awesome Online Point of Sale System!"

We have been using Lightspeed for over 3 years. It has been a great system for our retail book and gift store. We did a lot of research on point of sale systems and it was (and still is) the best system we can find. Specifically, the software is easy to use, adaptable to most business models, and accessible anywhere. The inventory management feature continues to be superior. We are able to precisely track inventory at all times. The reporting menu is also extensive, which is super helpful. Aside from a few lengthy wait times on support (90% of the time the support is fantastic and our issue has been resolved), Lightspeed has been a great decision for us!

Pros

Sense of ease is amazing and all the additional features you didn't think you needed but definitely would want.

Cons

Only thing we have come across is the accuarcy for your mark up and margin percentage. If you change your default price, MSRP and online price as well as current inventory cost, the margin and mark up are not always accurate. Simple fix, would be to just manual calculate your mark up and margin percentage.

Great easy to use manage and maintain. Works on almost any tablet phone or cpu.

Pros

Love its ease of use. Cloud based makes taking it on the road to do mobile events a breeze for payment processing and inventory management.

Cons

Could have used a little more help importing our inventory but after I figured it out it was easy to do.

Absolutely awful In my 20 years in business, I have never met a worse company

Pros

I am a credit card processor that recommended Lightspeed to my clients None of my clients are able to get custom service It’s so bad that I personally been trying to email light speed and call for the last 5 days The only response I got is “how can we help” Once I wrote what I needed , no one ever got back to me I’m going to recommend to all my clients to leave lighspeed I’m even going to buy them new pos systems just not to deal with lighspeed anymore Non of my retail or restaurants were able to get customer service I’m writing this review to help other in their pos decision Please save yourself a lot of headache and not to use this POS system I have nothing to gain by telling you this

I've had no problems using Lightspeed over the past few years, and I look forward to many more years with Lightspeed.

Pros

This software was extremely easy to get the hang of. Its easy to train people on, and the options are endless with inventory control.

Cons

The receipts for large printer paper get cut off on large receipts, but its not a deal breaker by any means.

Pros

The level of reports is exceptional and the customer service people know the product very well!

Cons

You cannot run credit cards remotely. Some issues between Lightspeed and my payment processor has "jammed" the system resulting in inaccurate transaction reporting.

### "Robust Information Effectively Presented"

Lightspeed's customer support is excellent overall. At least half the time when we experience a problem, it's due to our lack of understanding rather than a shortfall of the product. Their responses are usually prompt and helpful. Also, in almost three years of using the product, we have had virtually zero downtime and have seen nary a hiccup through numerous system updates and the occasional hotfix.

Pros

Tons of valuable information for every product we sell. And in contrast to some other systems that try to pack everything on a single page, Lightspeed Retail allocates product information across a menu of pages so you can quickly navigate to the data you want (and ignore what you don't want). And much of the information is searchable in ways that help our business create purchase orders and determine which products to stock or discontinue. We have been cautious in taking advantage of partnerships available through Lightspeed (i.e., their ecommerce platform and loyalty program), but our recent experience with both of those has been excellent.

Cons

Some aspects of ongoing database management are not transparent to the technically nonproficient user. We have 5500+ SKUs that are constantly in flux, and our list of vendors also changes regularly. Our efforts to clean up the clutter of stale information are not always successful. And some types of searches are not well supported (so far).

### "Just Not Worth It"

The worst customer service. It's like they have no responsibility for when something isn't working as it's intended or as promised. We have the next tier up of customer service who still take over a day to respond to an emergent situation and the issue will end up having no resolution. Support will inform me that a function that should work, simply doesn't, and I have to use another roundabout method to get something done.

Pros

The ease of use for simple transactions is nice.

Cons

There are so many simple functions missing. It's a convoluted process for something like work orders. There is no real employee sales tracking.

### "Lightspeed Works For Me"

I've been very satisfied overall. And it allows me to make more money.

Pros

I use lightspeed for my Point of Sale, Merchant Services, E-Commerce, & Website Hosting. It also works along with my Quickbooks accounting software. The biggest benefits for me are having one point of contact for all those services, 24/7 Support, that it is cloud based, and that I can access the system when I'm away from work to make customer quotes, check pricing, or help an employee on my day off. It allows me to make more money.

Cons

Setting up Lightspeed Accounting To Work With Quickbooks.

More Accurate Inventory Many Sales Report Options Available/Analytics Ease of Doing Business Customer Friendly

Pros

This software is designed for RETAIL, makes doing business in our Realtor Store simple. Ringing up customer is a breeze. Easy and fast to create a purchase order and receive products to inventory. This software is intuitive and simple to learn. We keep track of our inventory and sales reports, with accuracy. Love the scanners and printed product label option.

Cons

The only negative is the long wait by phone, when we need to speak to support. Definitely worth the wait! All customer service people are polite. They always help us work through our issue with professionalism and follow-up email.

### "Missing Core Component of a POS System"

Pros

Continued evolution and new features being added. Customer service can be good if you hang up on the new people and keep calling until you get someone that is knowledgeable.

Cons

Missing a core element of a POS that they refuse to fix while they continue to add new features. They need to focus on the core. Any retail environment that orders products by the case for any reason will be fed up with this system. The case item when broken down into singles do not communicate with each other for re-ordering. So if you set a level of singles say at 6 you would like the system to trigger an order of 1 case, it will not work. Huge inventory and ordering issues because of this. D- rating with BBB and not even accredited.

Originally, ease of use. Now is not the case.

Cons

We have had Shopkeep/Lightspeed for 9 years. It does not make doing inventory easy at all. We have nothing bur problems with the chip reader/swiper, continuously disconnects. Cannot make sales. Have spent many calls to fix, they make us buy new card readers every time. Also multiple problems with scanners not working! Problem has not been resolved in 9 years! Our other stores using another POS does not have these problems. Looking to switch.

We made the switch to Lightspeed, from Quickbooks, in 2011 during a major expansion of our 1000 sq ft retail clothing store. It was the perfect choice to meet our quickly growing needs for a better organized and more functional way to track inventory, make sales and view reports -- in fact, we really regretted not switching earlier! The easy to use POS screen made training our employees a breeze and ensures that sales data is captured completely and systematically for each transaction -- something we didn't have the ability to do when we were hand-typing each sales invoice in Quickbooks. Plus, the addition of integrated hardware (a barcode scanner, barcode label printer, cash drawer and receipt printer) accomplished even more than faster transaction time and more accurate inventory records -- it made our sales staff seem more professional and our customers feel more comfortable. Inventory tracking is one of the biggest strengths of this software. You can determine how much information you want to enter about each product, depending on what data you want to collect - multiple suppliers and costs, UPC codes, margins, related products and packaging... It was revolutionary for us to be able to know exactly what we have in inventory instead of confusing spreadsheets full of inconsistently described merchandise. We love that we can see detailed information about which products we have on the floor versus what's in storage, that we can quickly compare expenses with profits, and that we can create reorders and customer - specific orders with a couple of clicks. We also added the Lightspeed webstore when we switched to Lightspeed - and we're so happy that we did. We'd tried using several different platforms for an online shop, but kept running into the nagging issue of inventory maintenance since we were listing the same products online that were for sale in our brick-and-mortar shop. Lightspeed provides us with an integrated inventory for both stores, updating our database live, so that we never sell the same item twice. Products are easy to add to (or remove from) the webstore and web sales are easy to track. Plus we were able to do quite a bit of customization ourselves, adding both functionality and attractiveness to the existing template. We'd recommend that if you're going to use the Lightspeed web store, you work closely with a web developer who can help you get the most out of this great feature. Lightspeed customer service has been impeccable. They're fast, kind and very knowledgeable. Plus they really seem to care that you and your business succeed, with the help of their software. We'd recommend that you purchase the Maintenance Plan so that you get instant access to their support gurus. Totally worth it.

### "Lightspeed OnSite Point of Sale"

Lightspeed has been a great company to work with. Their tech support team does a good job helping troubleshoot issues and providing work flows (i.e. work arounds).

Pros

Lightspeed OnSite is a unique product since it runs on Apple OS. We have found this OS to be easier to employ across our retail environment and alleviates some security concerns. Installation and upgrades are easy to apply and maintain. Day-to-day register operations are not lacking and are on par with the leading point of sale systems.

Cons

OnSite is lacking in back office integrations. While it does provide reasonable reporting facilities their is no ability to do a free form query. We also find the system to run sluggishly and find the need to do system restarts on a regular basis. We have been using this software for 5+ years and there is no way to archive transactions. I believe that the size of our database - 250K products, 150K+ invoices and POs is at the root of the speed declines. OnSite does not have a clean interface for integrating with a web store. Proceed carefully if you are going to use this system in conjunction with e-commerce.

Pros

For a price that a small business can afford, Lightspeed allows us to have an efficient POS and integrated inventory system.

Cons

We're very happy with LS but I do sometimes find the search engine a bit clunky. You really have to have the exact term nothing comes up.

The previous owners chose LS. We took over the account. However, we are very pleased that we did stay with LS when we bought the store.

### "Invest in your pos "

If you want you compagny to work, invest in a pos that does what it need to be done, that is what I did with lightspeed and I enjoy every second of it. Many feature save me several hours of work per week and they realy did a superb reserchs jobs on building a software that work with retail and its not a additional feature to a restaurant pos.

Pros

The inventory management feature is juste great, it does everything it need to be whit minimal restriction, import feature for large supplier order is a must. Save me several hours a week

Cons

The restriction in UPC digit make some of my item UPC useless (item from China with irregular upc) and I have to create a upc myself

Lightspeed has been great to work with. The training provided after purchase was great. On going customer support has been phenomenal.

Pros

Really like the cloud based flexibility. Also love the syncing ability with most of my main vendors for importing purchase orders.

Cons

Only con is the fear of web being down or my local internet service not working and if that is the case not being able to run my store. This is has never been and actual issue though.

### "Easy to build, train and implement"

I worked with other POS systems in the past and find Lightspeed much more user friendly than the others. You can build your menu in literally a few hours and the flexibility is amazing! I have not come across a single scenario in the build that isn't already addressed within the system. And the video tutorials are well done, explaining processes step by step, The technical support team are quick to respond and follow through issues to resolution. I recommended Lightspeed to two colleagues already and will continue to share my positive experiences with others.

### "pain to get started with and still a pain to get rid of"

support is terrible. The "managers" only repeat what you tell them and say "we will look into that" and will not help get anyone that knows anything about the system that is not already on the help screen on the website. we count take any card payment with the system. because the terminal needed ports 443, and 4443 open. many more problems etc. would not recommend it to anyone.

online can access from anywhere easy from my phone

set-up, tech support only reads what you can find in the help section. they can't/ will not help with anything or any questions.

### "Stay away!! BEWARE"

Garbage. This entire company is going to go into the toilet. It may have been better before when they had less technology to juggle. They now have so much different tech and apps and whatnot, that they have no ability to implement anything.

Pros

Nothing. Maybe the fancy logo. But this not a functioning product for the real world.

Cons

From start to finish. We already used square and was wanting something that integrated into the inventory management from our store so to showcase inventory in live view. They have zero ability to implement all the new technology they promised. They will send you a link to their website (which is public) And let you figure it out. There is zero customer support. We built our entire site exactly in the technology they said to. And that was it. No support. Our web development team had a few simple questions and it was two weeks of non stop calls and emails, and finally we got a sales rep who then said they are sending us to someone else.

### "I wish we would have switched to Lightspeed sooner!"

It helps my inventory online and instore remain perfect since the retail side talks to the ecom side and vice versa! It is AWESOME! Probably the #1 Feature I was looking for!

Pros

My absolute favorte thing Lightspeed Omnichannel does for our company is it keeps all our inventory correct online and inside our retail store! When we have online sales, all that data is brought into the Retail Side of the software and a new customer account is created. Even when a local, regular repeat customer makes a purchase online, the software is smart enough to match it up to the existing Lightspeed Account and just adds their sale to the list of sales they already had! Now, that is cool!

Cons

I know they are working on getting more eCom Support Technicians, so that is my only thing. Sometimes I have to wait on hold, but they have an accurate call back system too that is awesome! They call me back so I can move on with my day instead of being on hold! I've tested it many times, and each time they called me back and helped me out!

I do more work now then I did with old system because I am having to craft many report I need to run my day to day business

Pros

Ease of use. Layout is simple. It is so simple most of it is fairly to figure out. But with simplicity comes lack of features.

Cons

The support department not very helpful. They are super nice though. The reporting is very basic - for a restaurant you really need good reporting. They are tied to 2 CC vendors since the switch to Lightspeed our fee's have gone way up. They have advanced reports but these are very basic not sure why they call them advance. Since reporting is so lacking they have Partners they recommend, I spoke to a partner and they said they rely on the API, so I figured before I sign up let me ask Lightspeed about the API- Radio Silence, they told to post in the Community Forum - I did - no response. I am confused why any one would want to be partnering with a company that does support their own API. If you are looking for something a little better than square then this would be it. But I am not sure honestly Square is not to bad..
